Ben shows up at Felicity's apartment, just as Felicity is packing up her things to go to the pageant rehearsal. Ben points out that he's not allowed to attend the pageant, and Felicity says that it's still embarrassing. Ben asks if he can stay and work on his lab, and Felicity gives her permission, kisses him, and leaves. Ben starts to move some things from Felicity's desk so that he can start working, and of course, he uncovers the receipt from the clinic. Oops. Who didn't see that one coming from the minute Ben asked to do his lab there?
At the pageant, Felicity and the other girls work on a dance routine of "Rhinestone Cowboy." Felicity looks like she would rather be in the fiery pits of hell than on that stage, wearing a pink snakeskin cowboy hat and a sequined top. Miss Bizzotch is all smiles. Felicity screws up a few moves. Tracy Scoggins interrupts to remind them that no matter what's going on inside, a beauty queen always smiles.
Backstage, Felicity and Sarah sneak around. Sarah explains that pageants are like life: sometimes you have to cause a little trouble to get things done. Sarah holds up a tube of "Miracle Rub." Felicity worries that they will get caught, but Sarah points out that Miss Bizzotch deserves it. Felicity agrees, and they take off, giggling.
Ben arrives at the basketball court, only to find Noel there already, shooting hoops. Ben says that he didn't know Noel ever came down there, and Noel says that he had a lot on his mind. They start shooting baskets together. Oh, this can't lead to anything good.
Sarah and Felicity giggle some more, their mission to put the cream in Miss Bizzotch's bathing suit completed. They sit on the floor of the dressing room. Sarah makes Felicity admit that it was fun. Sarah asks Felicity who is coming to the pageant to cheer her on, because Sarah's whole family is coming. Felicity says that her parents are in California, and she didn't invite any friends. Sarah says that at least Felicity's boyfriend will get to see the cowboy outfit. Felicity admits that she didn't invite him either, because she's embarrassed. Sarah says that she needs people there cheering for her. Felicity knows what she means. Felicity asks whether she knows "that guy from high school, the most popular guy on campus." Sarah says she hates that guy. Felicity says that her boyfriend is that guy, literally; he was voted most popular. Sarah tries to backpedal from her hatred of that guy, comparing it to the concept of a beauty queen. Felicity says that she wasn't popular at all in high school, and even though she and Ben have both changed a lot, it still kind of feels like high school. Felicity explains, "Like I'm waiting for him to realize who I really am, and once he does, he won't want me anymore. I guess that's why I didn't invite him. I didn't want him to not want me." Sarah reminds Felicity that no matter what a beauty queen feels inside, she always smiles. They laugh. Okay, I have never gotten that from Felicity's and Ben's relationship in the past few years, so I don't really know where this is coming from.
