Felicity stands at the microphone, which whines with feedback, even though it didn't for any of the other contestants, and Felicity isn't doing anything differently than the others to cause the feedback. I guess they're trying to demonstrate how uncomfortable Felicity is, but I think Keri Russell can convey that just fine. Anyway, Felicity answers that she would be an oak tree, because they're strong, and have a lot of character, but they're always changing and growing. On the sidelines, Javier gives her the double thumbs-up. Dr. Joyce Brothers, as one of the pageant judges, asks Felicity specifically what her plans are for the next five years. Felicity answers that she's an artist, or at least trying to be, so it's hard to know exactly, and that's something she's been struggling with herself. She adds that she never thought she would be there, in the pageant. Dr. Joyce Brothers asks Felicity if she can be a little more specific. Shut up, Dr. Joyce Brothers. I hated you back when you were a guest star on Happy Days. Felicity thinks for a second, and then says that she can't. The judges thank her, and Felicity walks offstage, looking upset. Felicity tells Javier that she blew it, but Javier thinks they will respect her honesty. Felicity gives him a look, and Javier admits that they might not, but the next day's evening-gown and bathing-suit competitions are hers. Javier scrunches his face up all excitedly, then glances at Sarah standing there, and adds, "And yours." Hee!
Sean presents a series of ideas to Meghan. Most of them are pretty bad. For example, a restaurant that only serves appetizers and desserts "for those specialty occasions, like the short, quick dates." ["There are lots of restaurants that only serve appetizers. Tapas, anyone?" -- Wing Chun] Meghan listens to all of them, and says that they are good, but kind of dismisses them quickly. As Sean talks, Meghan's face reflects her growing disappointment. Sean asks why she's being so critical. Meghan says that she needs to be discerning if she's going to make this sacrifice, so that she doesn't make a mistake. Sean points out that she just called him a sacrifice and a mistake. Meghan admits that she's giving up a lot to be with Sean. Sean asks what she means, and Meghan tries to blow it off. Sean persists, and Meghan finally confesses that her parents threatened to cut her out of the family in every way if she doesn't end the marriage. Sean asks why she didn't tell him this before. Good question. Meghan asks whether she was supposed to tell him that her father is trying to set her up with John Eisendrath. Sean doesn't know who that is. Meghan explains the connection. Sean looks upset, and then says that he thought the Rotundis liked him. Meghan says that her father thinks she's making a mistake. Sean asks, "Is that what you think?" Meghan doesn't answer.
