The time is 03:30:11 AM. Lady Mac's phone rings in her office. She picks up. It's the detective who just questioned Mrs. Ocean. "Where did you get this number?" asks Lady Mac. "It was given to me by a woman named Julia Milliken," says the detective. He asks her if she was with Mrs. Ocean tonight. Lady Mac replies that she wasn't. The detective says that Mrs. Ocean claims otherwise. "Well, she's lying," says Lady Mac, explaining that she's been in the District offices with President Palmer all night. The detective says Mrs. Ocean claims that both she and Lady Mac caused William Ocean's death by withholding his medication from him. "Well, that's preposterous," says Lady Mac. "I haven't seen William Ocean or his wife in over three years!" The detective asks if Pressident Palmer could confirm her whereabouts that evening. "He sure could," says Lady Mac. "Thank you," says the detective. "We'll be in touch."
Elsewhere in Palmerville, Brother Palmer enters Palmer's office, where Palmer is taking a quick nap. I really must commend the TPTB here for having the characters act like it's 3:30 AM, when most people are asleep. Brother Palmer hands Palmer the latest report from CTU about their progress in finding the V-I-R-U-S. "Anything else?" asks Palmer. Brother Palmer says no. "I'm your brother," says Palmer. "I think I know when there's something on your mind." Brother Palmer says that he's more of a thorn in Palmer's side than an asset to his administration. "There are a lot of smart people out there that you could have hired," says Brother Palmer. "But none that I could have trusted as much as you," says Palmer. Uh oh. You know that when Palmer "trusts" someone, that person is totally going to fuck him over. Brother Palmer's phone rings. It's Soul Patch with the latest update from CTU. Brother Palmer springs into action with renewed vigor.
Meanwhile, Kiefer and Chase arrive at the FluBar, where Potato Face has tracked Amador's account transaction. The SWAT team at the site has already sent an Asian undercover officer with long hair into the FluBar to check it out. He sees nothing, but spots an armed guard outside the door to the southernmost room. He reports this back to his team on his secret transistor. "Don't move," says a voice behind him. Another guard has blown AsianAgent's cover, and takes him hostage. The guard takes his transistor away and brings him into Amador's office. "He was looking at your room," says the guard to Amador. When CTU loses AsianAgent's signal, they storm the FluBar. But before they find Amador, Amador has shot AsianAgent. "Let's get out of here," he says. The agents rush in. Kiefer finds Amador and pins him to the ground. "The target has been neutralized," says Charlie Brown over his walkie-talkie. "Where's the V-I-R-U-S?" asks Kiefer. "You're too late," says Amador. "Let's get him into one of the other rooms," says Kiefer to Charlie Brown. "We've got some work to do." The time is 03:36:09 AM.
The time is 03:40:23 AM. Back at a private room at the FluBar, Kiefer begins to interrogate Amador, who is angry that Kiefer betrayed him in Mexico. "That's right, Amador," says Kiefer. "You betrayed me too. I'm just better at it than you." "You have no idea what you're up against," says Amador. Kiefer presses him for details. "He knows who you are," says Amador, refusing to explain who "he" is. "'Don't presume to tell me about Kiefer,' that's what he said," says Amador. "If you go up against him, you're a dead man." Kiefer asks him where the V-I-R-U-S is. Amador says he doesn't know because he "passed it off." "You can do whatever you want to me," says Amador. "I'm not going to tell you anything." Kiefer asks him who or what he's afraid of. "We can protect you," says Kiefer. "Can you?" asks Amador contemptuously. "You couldn't even protect your own family." Why do people always say stupid shit like that when they're tied up and looking down the barrel of a gun? Kiefer grabs Amador and slices one of Amador's fingers with a knife. Amador passes out, and Kiefer tells Charlie Brown to do it again when he wakes up.
