Episode Report Card Kim: A+ | Grade It Now! YOU GRADE IT Thanksgiving

By Kim | Season 1 | Episode 9 | Aired on 11.23.1998

Knoll knocks and enters Felicity's room. Felicity is trying to stuff her entire wardrobe into a suitcase. Knoll reminds Felicity that he promised to "babysit a plant" while she's gone. It's an avocado in a glass of water. Felicity promises that it will turn into a huge plant. I don't know. My old roommate used to try that all the time, and it always just stayed an avocado in a glass of water. Felicity also gives Knoll back his Magic 8-Ball, which is probably supposed to be ™ or ® or something. Knoll asks the 8-Ball whether Felicity is excited to go home. Felicity predicts that it will say "outlook good," but it says, "It is decidedly so." Knoll and Felicity argue over whether "outlook good" is even an option. To prove her point (and for a myriad other reasons, most of them passive-aggressive), Felicity asks the 8-Ball whether Knoll's girlfriend is coming to New York. Knoll starts to explain that it was "a last-minute thing." Felicity says that Knoll can talk to her about Hannah. Knoll checks the 8-Ball and reports that his sources say no. Felicity says that they are friends, and Knoll responds, "It is decidedly so." They milked that Magic 8-Ball thing about four minutes too long.

Ben is looking for something under the couch in his apartment. Sean walks in with shaving cream on his face and asks where Ben's razor is. Ben replies that he packed it earlier, because it's his razor, and then asks whether Sean has seen his Palo Alto shirt. Sean advises him to "check Richard's room, [because] that guy's got sticky fingers." Wait, is that Richard Richard? He lives with Ben and Sean? Must be a different Richard, because the one we know lives on Knoll's floor, and causes Knoll no end of angst later this season. How annoying that they reused the name, though. Sean sits down and starts reading a magazine, the shaving cream still on his face. Sean asks Ben whether he's excited to get back to "sunny California." Ben says that it'll be good to see his parents, even though he confessed last week that he pretty much hates his father. Sean says that he's going to some "amazing" family party at his brother's house. Who has "amazing" family parties? I mean, there are okay family parties and deadly boring family parties. I love my family and all, but I wouldn't call our get-togethers "amazing." Ben pauses and says, "You've been using my razor this whole time?" Sean replies, "And your deodorant, too. Is that a problem?" How could I not foresee Sean and Meghan getting together? They both have an amazing sense of entitlement and they're terrible roommates.
