Episode Report Card Kim: A+ | Grade It Now! YOU GRADE IT Thanksgiving

By Kim | Season 1 | Episode 9 | Aired on 11.23.1998

Knoll and Hannah make out on Knoll's bed, pulling off their clothes. Once they get prone, things slow down. They break apart, and Knoll asks Hannah whether she's hungry. Hannah says that she is, and they both get up to get dressed.

Julie and Felicity are returning to their dorm with groceries. Felicity spots Ben and calls out to him. Felicity wonders why Ben is still there. By way of explanation, Ben tells her that there was a problem with his plane ticket. Julie tells Ben that they are staying in the dorm, and invites Ben to join them if he's still around. Ben says that he's definitely going to Palo Alto. Felicity and Julie say goodbye and get on the elevator.

Elena sits in her father's house and listens to her father explain his new satellite TV system. He got a deal because there's a dent on the side. Also, it constantly jumps to the India channel. Elena tells her dad that she got the second highest grade in the class on her Inorganic Chemistry midterm, and pulls out the test to show him. Her father perfunctorily looks it over, says that it's "really something," and turns his attention back to the television. It's like trying to interrupt my father when he's watching the sports. I kid you not -- he has, at times, had as many as three televisions in the living room, all playing different games. No need to wonder where I got my television-watching habits. Elena asks her father to go to the store with her. Elena's dad says that they've been invited to someone's house. Elena is disappointed, because she thought it would just be the two of them. Her father has found a Spanish-language program on TV, and asks Elena whether she remembers any Spanish from high school. Elena points out that she took French in high school. Her father continues to ignore her, so Elena leaves the room.

Knoll and Hannah eat in a diner. Hannah announces that she has big news; she's been accepted into the New York Conservatory. Knoll is surprised, since he didn't even know that she was applying. Hannah says that she didn't think she'd get in, but that she decided to apply after Knoll said that things would be better if they were together. Knoll gulps down some more coffee, but doesn't respond, so Hannah asks him whether he's happy. Knoll says that he's just "catching up," and asks what it means. Hannah explains that she could transfer to New York next semester. Knoll claims to be excited, but Hannah points out that he's "doing the thing," and that his hand is on his forehead. Knoll claims that he's "wildly enthusiastic," and Hannah says that it means he's stressed out. Knoll keeps trying to pretend that he's happy, but Hannah reminds him that he has "RA stuff to do." Knoll says that he's going back to his room, and invites Hannah along. She demurs, saying that she's going to stay in the diner, drink coffee, and read the paper. How pathetic is Knoll that his girlfriend, who hasn't seen him in months, would rather sit in a diner alone than spend time with him? Knoll leaves.
