Episode Report Card Kim: B+ | Grade It Now! YOU GRADE IT The Force
By Kim | Season 1 | Episode 21 | Aired on 05.17.1999
The camera pans up from the ground to reveal Felicity sleeping in her bed. Behind her, Meghan lights some candles and chants a spell. Felicity must be a fairly sound sleeper, because she doesn't wake up until Meghan rings a bell as part of the spell. Felicity's all, "The hell?" and Meghan ignores her and continues. Felicity asks Meghan to keep it down and tries to go back to sleep. Meghan sneaks over and plucks out one of Felicity's hairs. This understandably pisses Felicity off, and she firmly says that she doesn't really care what Meghan is doing, but she needs to go back to sleep. Meghan comments, "I love the smell of burning hair. Don't you?" Felicity says she has four finals this week. Meghan says she does too, which is why she's doing a spell. Felicity wonders how burning her hair will help Meghan, but Meghan doesn't answer. Instead, she finishes the spell and rings the bell again. Felicity announces that she's going to the bathroom. Meghan warns Felicity to watch out, because Meghan put a clumsy spell on Felicity. Felicity's all, "Great. I'll let you know when it completely doesn't work." And then she trips over a book and falls on her face. Which, while predictable, was still funny, mostly due to the look on Meghan's face, a combination of shock and delight.
Ooh, I forgot about this part. Each segment of the show is introduced by a tarot card and a word. The first card is "The World" and the word is "Voyage." Felicity walks into frame wearing what I first think is a skirt, but then am convinced are harem pants. I don't know. Felicity makes a tape to Sally, explaining how she likes math and science because she's usually a rational person. Is she new? Has she not watched this season? Pretty much everything Felicity does is irrational, especially throughout freshman year. As she checks out Meghan's bell, Felicity says she's never believed in magic. Felicity says that the last few days have been crazy, and that it all started with Ben. Doesn't it always?
Cut to Felicity and Ben at Dean & Deluca. FVO explains that Ben was brave enough to call his mom, tell her the truth, and ask for help. Ben explains that his mom doesn't have much money after the divorce, but that she's sending what she can. Felicity asks if it will be enough to cover his gambling debts. Ben says he didn't tell his mom about his gambling, and that he is going to use the money she sends for his plane ticket to pay Barry. So he really didn't tell his mom the truth, and thus is not at all brave? Way to twist things around, Felicity. Booger comes up and tries to give Felicity some work to do, but chickens out. She gets him to come back, and he explains that he would do the work himself but that "it's talent night at the orphanage." Ben says faux-sincerely, "Oh, are you in the show?" Booger sulks that he's an usher. I'm so glad they ditched Booger and brought back Javier. Felicity reminds Booger that he's the assistant manager now, and part of his job is ordering them around. Booger says that Ben and Felicity have to do inventory Friday night. Ben's face falls and he says that it sucks. Felicity agrees and asks Ben how he's going to get home, if he's not buying a plane ticket. Ben doesn't know. Felicity turns around and knocks over a mug, breaking it. She cleans it up, a concerned look on her face.
