Cut to a karaoke video of Rick Springfield's "Jesse's Girl." Richard has chosen this particular song to perform at the karaoke night. He's wearing an idiotic tan pleather hat and leaping about the stage as part of his performance. Elena and DeForrest are standing in front of the stage and she laughs, "God bless him for trying." DeForrest cautions, "Whatever you do, don't let him do 'White Rabbit'; it makes him freak out." Elena asks, "And this isn't freaking out?" Right at that moment, Richard screeches, "I wish that I had Jesse's girl!" and plays a bit of air guitar. DeForrest runs onto the stage and grabs the microphone away from Richard, who suggest that he do "Hot Blooded" while he's "still got it." Thankfully, DeForrest shoos him away, introduces himself as "Mighty Mike," and announces that he's "going to take it back, old-school." He launches into a personal favourite of mine, "Play That Funky Music (White Boy)." He looks a bit ludicrous dancing around in his fat suit, but the audience is dancin' and singin' and movin' and a-groovin right along with him. Elena is summoned to the stage, and when she comes up it takes her a little while to get down with her bad self. The scene continues to the "till you die!" part of the song.

Elena and DeForrest walk off the elevator in her building, still singing. In front of the girls' apartment door, Elena exclaims that she's "never gotten up in front of people like that" and speculates that she was acting like she was possessed. DeForrest proclaims, "It's the power of funk." I heard that, my brother. Tear the roof off the sucker. Elena thinks DeForrest is a "karaoke genius." Okay, while I'm down with the whole supergroovalisticprofunkstication, I cannot agree that DeForrest is a karaoke genius. Elena has obviously never heard Gwen belt out "Sweet Child o' Mine." I never even liked that song before I heard Gwen's karaoke version. While she may be the MBTV karaoke queen, Djb is undisputedly the king. You've never heard anyone sell "Copacabana" the way he does. Here at MBTV, we know from karaoke. Anyway, DeForrest mutters something about "keeping the ladies guessing." Elena invites him to come in because she still wants to "listen to music." Hmm, is that what the kids are calling it these days? DeForrest declines the offer to come in because "it'll be proving time again," when Elena proves to herself that "she's open-minded about the fat guy." He tells her not to invite him and to "leave it at that." She frowns, "Okay." He says that he'll see her around. As she slams the door shut, he looks over his shoulder.
