They join April to help out with hang-gliding patient Reese, who bashed a giant hole in her leg. Reese's sister Donna is there too and the two of them bicker about Donna acting like her mom. It turns out that Reese has gotten hurt quite a lot doing this kind of thing, and Callie finds a rod in her leg that was put in months earlier after she had a heli-skiing mishap in New Zealand. Reese just tells them that she is making up for lost time, though we don't know yet what that actually means.
Catherine is in Richard's room and Bailey has him show off how he can slowly get out of bed and over to the chair by himself. He's very slow and it looks ridiculously painful, but he can do it. Bailey is totally being a cheerleader and Catherine adds that he'll be doing laps in a week. Smash and Leah come in and hover tentatively in the doorway, saying that they came to check on his low drain output but that they can come back later if now isn't a good time. Catherine tells them it's a great time because she wants to talk to Bailey in the hall, and then the interns hover some more, staring, until Richard points out that he could use some help getting back into bed.
Outside, Catherine's cheery mood is gone and she tells Bailey she was expecting him to be doing better than this. Bailey points out that two days earlier he couldn't sit up, but it sounds like she's trying to avoid really answering the question. Both ladies realize that he is depressed but Bailey tells Catherine that he refuses to try antidepressants and that he just needs time and support, as well as more pillows so that he can sit up comfortably. Catherine apologizes and tells Bailey she has done so much, which is quite a change in tune from her last trip, and it's a relief to see them getting along better. She offers to go find some pillows herself.
And if you were looking for pillows in a hospital, why look in a supply closet with linens when you can grab some off of the bed in an on-call room, causing you to walk in on your son and his girlfriend in bed with her respectable blouse nearly pulled off? The two jump up in horror, and Catherine icily tells Jackson to introduce them. He does, and Catherine asks her for the pillows off of the top bunk. Seriously, this is so contrived; it's so gross to think that Richard would ever be getting possibly-used pillows from a sex den. At least they aren't the ones that Jackson and Steph were just cavorting on. Stephanie hands her the pillows and Catherine just harrumphs in return and leaves, slamming the door. Stephanie points out that she doesn't think Catherine liked her shirt, while Jackson can only nod.
