So the show starts off at Skanky Nicole's place, and the phone is ringing while Bosco is putting on a pair of jeans and Nicole is lying naked in her bed. She finally pries her eyes away from Bosco's ass to answer the phone, and it is Mama Bosco. The two of them make plans for Mom to come to Nicole's store to shop for sexy lingerie because she has a hot date that night. Apparently Skanky Nicole and Ma Bosco have become buddies. Bosco is all upset that his mom is buying sexy underwear. Dude, we all saw what kind of a woman your mother is, Bosco -- be happy she is even wearing underwear. She looks like the kind of woman that goes commando when on a date. Bosco tells Nicole that he wants to meet her parents -- maybe even go to a ball game with her dad. Nicole tells him her parents will hate him, and Bosco is all, "Nobody hates me!" Liar liar pants on fire! So Nicole asks him to go with her and her parents to the opera that night, and he accepts. She then tells him he has to wear a tux, and Bosco isn't as excited about going to the opera as he was a minute ago.
Bobby is walking down the street and bumps into an old friend. After some small talk about their jobs, the friend tells Bobby that he saw his brother Matt panhandling at Grand Central Station. Hey, at least he isn't stealing from family members anymore!
Bosco and Yokas are going to their car, and Bosco tells her he's leaving early that night to go out on a date with Nicole, and Yokas is all, "You're actually leaving the apartment? You know you actually have to wear clothes for that." HA! I love the way Yokas talks about Bosco and Nicole's non-relationship. Bosco tells her that he is going to the opera, and that it's black tie.
Ty and Sully are checking the back seat of their car for any sort of weapons that criminals may have left in the car. Ty does his best impression of a sixteen-year-old and asks Sully if he can drive the car that day, and after some talk about learning the ropes, Sully agrees to let him drive. Maggie would be so proud!
Jimmy is waiting outside the station for Kim, and when she arrives, he tells her that he is getting married. Kim is a little shocked, and tells Jimmy that she doesn't think he and his girlfriend have dated very long, and Jimmy tells her he has dated Brooke longer than he dated Kim when they got engaged. Kim asks if he knocked Brooke up too. Hmmm, bitter much, Kim? Still in shock, she tells him that she is happy for him. Damn, Kim -- stop, drop, and roll! Your pants are on fire, you big liar!

Carlos and Doc bring a patient into the ER and give long-lost nurse Dana the patient's stats. Carlos gets a call on his radio to make a phone call to the head of EMTs. Doc sees Morales talking to a male patient, and the man invites her to the symphony. She tells him she would love to go to the symphony, but declines his invitation. As she walks over to say hello to Doc, Carlos comes over to tell them that he has to go down to EMS headquarters, and he thinks he has been accepted for the Dignitary Protection Unit. Knowing Carlos, he hasn't been accepted into anything, except the Non-He-Man Woman-Haters Club. Raise your hand if you think this meeting at headquarters has anything to do with Vangie!
Ty and Sully do a traffic stop, and Ty walks up to the guy in his car and asks him for his license, registration, and proof of insurance. The guy tells him he left his wallet at home and it has all the information in it. Ty then smoothly asks him to step out of the car, and when the guy gets out, Ty notices the man's wallet in his back pocket, so he takes it out and looks at his license. Using his trusty Spiderman sense, Ty asks the guy why his license is suspended, and then cuffs the guy. Sully is all impressed.
Kim and Bobby are at their ambulance, and Kim is throwing supplies in the cabinets in the back of the bus while Bobby is reading the paper and ignoring her. Kim wants to have a bitch session, but Bobby is having none of it. She keeps asking if he wants to know what Jimmy did, and Bobby tells her he doesn't want to know and finally gets her to shut her yap for a brief moment. Go Bobby! You aren't the only one who finds Kim's bitching old and annoying.
Carlos and Doc arrive at EMS HQ, and they see Vangie talking to their boss. What a surprise! Not. The boss calls Carlos into his office, and he is not happy. Neither am I, because this story line is just going nowhere fast.
Bosco is in the car with Yokas, and he is reading Opera For Dummies and Yokas is making fun of him. Out of nowhere, a blue sedan almost runs into them, and a man runs up to them and tells them he was carjacked. Bosco and Yokas turn around and look for the car, find it, and with music from The Matrix in the background they chase the carjacker. They radio in to dispatch to tell them what is going on, and dispatch tells them to stop the pursuit, but Yokas keeps driving after the guy and follows him into a parking garage. They go up a few levels, and the carjacker drives his car off the side of the garage, and it falls onto a street upside-down and ignites.
Just in case you didn't know, with cellular phones you talk funny and with digital phones you talk clearly. Unless you are using an Ericsson phone, in which case you don't talk at all because you can't get a good enough signal with your phone to make or receive a call. I'm just saying. Not that I would know about that or anything.
Bosco and Yokas get to the guy in the car, and he is screaming for help because his leg is stuck. Kim and Bobby arrive and Bosco tells them what happened. Bobby crawls into the car and finds the guy's leg on fire. Bobby pulls him out of the car, and seconds later the car explodes. Bobby is a hero! As Bobby is checking out the guy's leg and starts to put him in the ambulance, Bosco cuffs the guy. Bosco, I don't think the guy is going to run away or anything -- you might want to calm down. Yokas is looking at the burning car and looks visibly upset, and Bosco asks what's wrong. Yokas tells him, "Nothing!" and walks off.
Ty and Sully are walking out of the precinct; Sully tells Ty he did a good job. Sully then runs into an old friend on the force named Bernie, and he introduces him to Ty. Bernie tells Sully to meet him at Old Mac's Place, which is a bar Sully used to frequent, because an old friend of theirs is getting married and they're celebrating that night. Sully thinks it is amusing that their friend is getting married again, and then Bernie tells him that he recently got married himself. Sully looks a little shocked, and Bernie tells Sully he can meet his new wife at the party, and then he leaves. Ty tells Sully that if Bernie can find a wife, then there is hope for him, and Sully isn't amused. Ty should just drop it with the woman-hunting for Sully and accept the fact that Sully and Maggie are going to eventually get it on. They get to their car, and Sully lets Ty keep driving.
Kim, Bobby, and Bosco are in the back of the ambulance with the carjacker. Hey, who's driving? Lundy? Bobby tells them the guy's burnt leg stinks, and Bosco thinks it smells like chicken. I didn't know chicken smelled like singed hair. Meanwhile, the guy is screaming in pain, so Bobby decides to give him morphine, but when they try to find a vein in his arm all they find are track marks. Bosco, always thinking of others, thinks it's unfair that the guy gets morphine and he gets an hour and a half of paperwork. I'll give you some morphine, Bosco. As long as I can burn half your leg off first. Kim calls in to give the ER the guy's stats, and to get permission to administer the morphine.
Doc and Carlos are in the ambulance, and Carlos is all pissed off at Vangie. Doc tells him that she is just trying to protect herself and the baby, and Carlos thinks Doc is taking her side. If "taking her side" means "looking at the situation from an unbiased perspective," then I guess Doc is taking her side. Carlos then whines that with her complaint in his "jacket," he may not be able to get into med school. Doc asks how that could happen, and Carlos is all, "I don't know -- maybe some kind of morals thing? " and Doc is all, "Like them finding out you don't have any?" and I'm all, "You took the words right out of my mouth, Doc!" Carlos then asks Doc to drive him to Vangie's place. Yeah, Carlos, the last few times you have talked to her have really worked out well. Why don't you go over there while you are still majorly pissed off and try to resolve this? Maybe his plan is to stress her out so much that she will miscarry, and that way he won't have to deal with a baby or pay for an abortion. Problem solved!
Ty and Sully drive over to the side of the road, where a fight is going on on the sidewalk. Ty doesn't even get out of the car, just puts his window down and tells them all smoothly to go in different directions for thirty minutes, so the two walk away and no one gets arrested. Sully is all, "No cross complaints?" and Ty tells him, "I can learn." Sully thinks he has learned overnight. Yeah, he can learn to solve problems, but not to stay out of Sully's love life! Out of nowhere, Candyman appears to see if they needed any help with the people fighting. He tells them that "it's all about the backup!" They tell him that everything has been settled, and Sully asks Candyman if he wants to go for a cup of coffee. Candyman tells him he was paged by a regular on his beat and he is going to talk to someone about not paying their rent. Ty tells him that tenants not paying rent is the City Marshal's job, and Candyman tells Ty he handles everything that comes up on his post. Sully offers to go with him, and at first Candyman declines. Sully then tells him, "It's all about the backup, right?" and Candyman agrees and hops into the back of their car, and they go to the apartment, much to Ty's chagrin.
The three of them walk into the building, and Candyman takes out the keys he was given to the apartment, and he opens the door. They walk in and find two men sitting at a table full of cash.
Carlos goes to Vangie's apartment and pounds on her door. She finally answers the door, and Carlos asks her what is wrong with her. She wants to have a relationship with Carlos, so she must have so many problems that we just can't even begin to answer that question. Vangie tells him she realized she was hurting the wrong person when she tried to kill herself, and she was very upset that she was in the hospital for a week and he didn't even care. He tells her there are consequences to filing a complaint, and she is all, "Like there aren't any consequences to getting someone pregnant?" Tell him, girl! He tells her there were two people in that bed. Yeah, but only one person has the consequences growing inside of her body. She asks him what he wants to do, and he tells her to make a decision and he will support her, short of marrying her. Of course he can't act mature for more than ten seconds, because he then asks her if she can make a decision without going to his boss or swallowing a bottle of children's aspirin. She calls him a bastard and slams the door in his face.

Ty tells Candyman that all the money on the table is getting vouchered. Candyman takes Sully to one side and tells him to get Ty out of the apartment. Sully tells him to voucher the money, and Candyman tells him he can retire off of all that money. Sully tells him that he could have retired when he got shot. He has a point there, Candyman. Ty asks the guys sitting at the table whose money it is, and they deny having any money. Sully tells Ty that the money is from illegal gambling, and the more money they claim, the higher the charge. Candyman again whispers to Sully to get Ty out of the apartment, and then Ty finds a video camera that is recording everything. Internal Affairs pops out of another door, and they ask why Sully and Ty are there. Sully tells the IAB guy that he was backing up Candyman. IAB guy asks Sully if he called in, and Sully tells him they didn't, and the IAB guy tells him he would have been told to stay away if he'd followed procedures and called in. Candyman gets all pissed off and calls them rat bastards and leaves. IAB guy asks Sully what he and Candyman were talking about earlier, and Sully tells him, "Spring fashions." IAB guy asks Ty if he knows what they were talking about, and Ty tells him he has no idea. IAB guy is all, "About what I'd expect from you. Tyrone Davis, Jr., right?" Ty and Sully are insulted and leave.
Doc and Carlos are taking a man out of their ambulance in a stretcher while Bobby is at his ambulance putting stuff on his arm. The man in the stretcher is complaining that his back hurts, and Kim comes over to Bobby and sees that he burned his arm pretty badly from getting the carjacker out of the burning car. She tells him to get it checked by Morales, and then asks him if he was trying to give her a heart attack by going into the car; then she tells him she's used to having him around, even he acted like a jerk earlier. Bobby lets her know that for three years he has heard her bitch and moan about her life, and he has problems too, and that he just found out that Matt is begging in the subway. He then tells her he is sorry, but he doesn't think that her love life is as important. Kim totally gets the smackdown, and is left speechless. For once. I doubt that will last for long.
Doc and Carlos wheel the guy with the bad back into the ER, and nurse Dana sees them and is all, "Welcome back, Phil." Phil is still complaining about his back, and Dana tells him that Morales will not give him another prescription, and Phil whines that he has to have another prescription because his back hurts so badly. I know a person that goes to new doctors when her old ones won't give her any more back pain prescriptions. And when the pharmacies she frequents will no longer fill her prescriptions, she goes to a new pharmacy. I think she has to go to a doctor about two hours away and a pharmacy about an hour away by now to get her "fix." It's kind of scary, and her family won't do anything about it. What scares me the most is that she is driving while on that medication. Let's hope Phil doesn't have a car. Meanwhile, back at the ER, Morales is working on the carjacker, and she tells Bosco that since the guy is on a ventilator he will have to be admitted overnight. Bosco tells her he is going to call in and then leave for the opera, and Morales is all jealous of him. Doc overhears Morales and Bosco and looks a little confused. Bobby comes in, and Morales starts to check on his arm.
Bosco meets Yokas outside of the ER. Yokas tells him she lost control trying to get the carjacker and she thinks she caused the accident. Bosco tells her not to think about "what if," and that you learn from your mistakes. Then he tells her that all he's thinking about is getting to the opera on time, and she needs to drop him off at a diner so he can change and meet the car that Nicole is sending for him. Yokas tells him that he is getting hoity-toity on her. I think it is physically impossible for Bosco to get hoity, no matter who he is bedding down.
Ty and Sully are in their car, and Ty asks Sully to tell him about his father. Sully doesn't say anything, and Ty asks Sully if he was a part of what his dad did. Sully looks insulted. Well, Sully, you didn't say anything -- what else was the kid supposed to think? Ty tells Sully that they both knew that Candyman was dirty and he didn't want anything to do with him, and he didn't appreciate Sully pulling him into Candyman's dirty stuff without asking. Sully apologizes, and Ty tells him that they are partners, so there should be no more making decisions without his input. Maybe Sully was getting even with Ty for setting him up on a blind date from an Internet personals ad. Ty asks Sully where Candyman would be now, because he has a message for him, and Sully thinks Candyman is probably back on his beat. If I were Candyman, I would be making sure all traces of wrong-doing I ever did were covered up.
Vangie is waiting for Carlos outside the station, and she tells him that he doesn't have to worry about it anymore, and that it is over. Carlos wants to know what she did, but she just keeps saying that it's over. He asks her if she needs any money, and she slaps him and storms off. Now, I'm not quite sure why that was insulting. I mean, she claims she was pregnant, then says it is over. If she had an abortion or a miscarriage, she would have needed medical care, and that costs money. Carlos actually tried to do the right thing for the first time, and she is still wigging out. I really hope that is the very last time we see Vangie, but that would just make it too easy on me. I was born to be driven nuts by this show. ["Hang in there! Only one more episode!" -- Sars]
Jimmy meets Bobby outside the station, tells him he wasn't very smart for going into the car, and gives him his burned jacket. Bobby is all, "Bravery over intelligence. Something I learned from watching you." Jimmy asks if that is a compliment, and Bobby tells him it isn't. Ouch! Jimmy then asks Bobby if Kim said anything about being mad at him, and Bobby just snaps and yells, "What is this? Sweet Valley High?!" and proceeds to tell Jimmy to talk to Kim and leave him out of it. You go, boy! I think Bobby is just as annoyed with the stupid love/hate relationship between Kim and Jimmy as I am.
Ty finds Candyman, shoves him against a wall, and tells him that if he sees him doing anything illegal he is going to personally lock him up. Ooohh, Ty is getting nasty! thing you know, he is going to have his own theme song like Shaft. Who's the kid who does everything by the book? TY! Who's the rookie that likes to set middle-aged men up on blind dates? TY! Who's the cop who seems to have an Oedipus complex...SHUT YOUR MOUTH! Awww yeeaaahhhh, it's Tyrone Davis, Junior.
Have you seen that commercial with the guy in his Volvo racing back and forth to his kids' soccer game and swim meet and the kids don't realize their father has left to go to the other kid's event? Is it me, or does it make that dad look like he is a really bad parent? Wouldn't make me want to buy a Volvo.
Bosco is at the diner, and he comes out of the bathroom in his tux looking like he is ready to go to the Senior Prom. Yokas tells him he looks like James Bond (but without the style and grace). Bosco goes to the limo waiting outside for him, and Yokas looks a little jealous. I'm not sure what she would be jealous of, except maybe the fun ride in the limo. I'm surprised Bosco didn't stop at a deli and get a jar of Grey Poupon to give to people when he got to a stoplight.
Kim and Bobby are in the ambulance, and Kim tells him Jimmy is getting married. Bobby is annoyed that she brought it up, and tells her to tell Jimmy that she is still in love with him. She tells him she doesn't love Jimmy, and Bobby makes this weird, loud grunt-type sound, and Kim is all, "You think I still love him?" and Bobby mimics me and puts his face in his hands. Kim looks straight ahead and starts to ponder.
Doc and Carlos are in a record store. Doc is looking for opera music. Carlos wonders if Vangie had an abortion or wasn't even pregnant. Now, maybe I'm thinking too much about this, but wouldn't the hospital have given her a pregnancy test after her suicide attempt, to confirm that she was in fact pregnant? Or am I asking for too much here? I'll choose option number two. Carlos starts acting sorry for himself because has no family members of his own. Doc can't believe Carlos, and tells him that he has no right to feel sorry for himself after pushing away Vangie and the baby. For once, Carlos agrees with Doc. Remember this moment, because it will probably be the last time for a while that Carlos actually thinks Doc is right about something.
Sully and Ty are sitting by their car drinking coffee, and Sully tells him he did a good job today, and he starts to tell Ty about his father. Ty doesn't want to know anymore. He tells Sully he loves and respects his father and doesn't want to know what he did in the past. Gee, for the past few months, all he has been doing is pestering people to tell him about his father, and now that someone is finally willing to tell him, he doesn't want to know. Ingrate!
Bosco meets Nicole in the lobby of the theater, and Nicole introduces him to her parents. Nicole's dad tells Bosco he played golf with one of his chiefs, and Bosco tells him he doesn't know the chief Nicole's dad golfed with since he is just a street cop. Dad asks him if he plays golf, and Bosco tells him he has only played a few times with friends. Nicole and Mom lead the way to their seats, and Dad tells Bosco that he doesn't want an Osbourne woman because "they're pushy, overbearing, and controlling." Bosco tells him he thinks Nicole is great, and Dad tells him Nicole is only using him and adds, "You're the latest incarnation of 'Piss Daddy Off.'" Bosco replies by asking Dad if he wants to go to a ball game sometime. That Bosco, he really knows how to throw out those witty comments. Except for the part about being witty.
Morales meets Doc outside the ER and they start kissing. Wooooo! Doc tells her he saw her with the guy who asked her to the symphony and saw her talking to Bosco about the opera, and he had no idea she liked that kind of music. He tells her that she only seems to tell him things about herself that he can relate to, and she looks a little guilty when he says that to her. He tells her he wants to take her to the symphony, and she is happy about that. He then shows her the opera tape he bought and asks her if she has ever made love to opera. Hell, who hasn't made love while listening to Bolero? That is the ultimate sex song, and it lasts over a half-hour so you have a while to get it on with the music. Just ask Dudley Moore and Bo Derek.
As the opera is going on, you hear a man singing in Italian, and Bosco is sitting to Nicole and she is watching him enjoying himself. No, not that way -- he is enjoying the opera. That scene fades and the music is still playing, and you see Carlos walking home (wow, the opera is going on pretty late at night, don't you think?), and he sees a children's clothing-store window and looks sad. That scene fades, and you see the Opera For Dummies book on the car seat, and Yokas picks it up and laughs to herself. That scene fades, and you see Bobby on the streets, looking for his brother.
Sully arrives at the bar and meets up with Bernie, who introduces him to his young Filipino bride. After she leaves to go to the little girl's room, Bernie tells Sully that he bought her from a mail order catalog, and that he went out to the Philippines to meet her and her family and bring her back to the US. Sully asks him if they are in love, and Bernie tells him he likes her a lot but he doesn't know how she feels about him. Sully looks a little dismayed about it all, but tells him he is happy if Bernie is happy. Bernie then offers to give Sully his catalog, but Sully declines. Good thing Ty wasn't there, or else Ty would have taken Bernie to one side and asked him for the catalog so he could order Sully a woman. Anything to keep Sully away from Maggie!
Nicole and Bosco are leaving the theater, and Bosco tells her he enjoyed the opera, and liked the story about the corrupt cop. Maybe the opera character reminded him of Candyman. Bosco then tells her about the conversation he had with her father, and Nicole admits that in the beginning she did date him to piss off her father, but now she is falling in love with him. Ew.
Jimmy comes to Kim's apartment and tells her that if she tells him not to get married, he won't get married. Kim is a little stunned, and Jimmy tells her he wants to know if there is any chance of them getting back together. Of course there is a chance, Jimmy! Kim is a glutton for punishment! Kim tells him if he has to ask, then he shouldn't get married. He tells her she is the only woman he has really loved, but he can't wait forever. Well, Jimmy, maybe if you hadn't screwed Kim's sister you wouldn't have to wait for her in the first place. But I digress. He tells her he is not good at being alone, and Kim once again looks into space and ponders. Maybe she is pondering the fact that Jimmy wasn't very good at being with a woman either, since he couldn't stay faithful to her for long after they were married. Maybe she is pondering how she is going to go to work the day and not tell Bobby about this, since she knows he can no longer tolerate her talking about her unhealthy relationship with Jimmy. I guess we won't find out till week, because the scene fades to black.
