The episode opens with an extended recap of the season. The guys were cocky. The women tried to cooperate but couldn't win any challenges. Then the women turned it around and the men imploded, helped along by Colton's casual racism and classism. Then Colton got medically evacuated and the men got picked off one-by-one (except Tarzan). And now it's Alicia and Christina versus Chelsea and Sabrina, and Kim is in the middle.
The morning after Tarzan leaves, Kim and Sabrina talk about their endgame. Kim floats the idea of dumping Chelsea and taking Christina to the finals. Sabrina is shocked (really?).
Immunity Challenge: Untie ropes to open a gate and then run across a balance beam maze without falling off. Run across a rope net and gather puzzle pieces. The puzzle, when assembled, gives clues to three numbers. Run up a ladder and use the numbers to raise a flag and win. It's the typical endgame immunity challenge. Kim is the first to make an attempt at the combination, but she gets the numbers wrong. Alicia also makes an attempt and gets it wrong. Chelsea also tries and fails. Finally, Kim gets the right numbers in the right order and wins. That was pretty intense.
Kim gets it set up so that Alicia and Christina are voting for Chelsea and Chelsea and Sabrina are voting for Alicia. So Kim will be the deciding vote. The complicating factor is, since Kim has immunity, Chelsea wants her Idol. At Tribal Council, Kim gives a big speech about how she's tried to play the game with her head, but her heart gets in the way. Everyone seems to know that Kim is the deciding vote, including Probst. Chelsea tells her that her vote tonight could earn her respect from the jury. Nobody plays an Immunity Idol. And then Kim votes out Alicia. Holy shit. I did not see that coming. I was thinking it would be funny if Kim voted for Christina and let Alicia and Chelsea draw rocks.
Then they do the walk of the Dead Survivors.
The final immunity challenge involves using a pole to move a bowl through a metal structure and then stacking the bowls on top of the structure. BUT, the structure is on a spring, so hitting it makes it wobble and the bowls could potentially fall. The first person to stack ten bowls wins. Despite a challenge from Christina, Kim wins immunity AGAIN. She really deserves to win this thing.
Then they tell Christina that she's going home and she's like, "Okay." At Tribal Council, Probst can't figure out why Christina would just roll over. Also, Christina doesn't seem to understand the game, since she thinks it's about who deserves to go to the finals, and not convincing people that they could beat you if they take you. All Christina had to say was, "You know you can beat me. No one on the jury likes me. You won't beat the other two." So Christina is voted out. She was such a waste of a slot.
Finally, it's time for the final jury. Chelsea says in her speech that she was partners with Kim all along, but she checked her emotions at the merge, so some people might have seen her as cold or aloof as a result. Kim says that she loves the game and she does see it as a game, and despite the friendships she made, she had to prioritize her family and the help that she could give them over the people on the island. Sabrina says that she tried to play the middle and not go to extremes: she didn't win challenges and she didn't engage is heavy strategizing. She adds that she got laid off two weeks before the game started, so she needs to win.
I will detail the jury questions in detail in the full recap, but as with every season, they're pretty dumb. Jonas is funny. Tarzan is weird/sentimental. Hardly anyone asks questions; they mostly just give speeches. Kat wears way too much makeup and explains that she was really angry with the finalists at first, but she has had health issues including open-heart surgeries, and it's shown her that it's not worth holding onto anger because life's too short. She begs the jury not to vote out of anger. Wow. I did not expect that.
Everyone votes. The ones we see are Troy for Sabrina and Kat for Kim. Then we head to the reunion where we find out that Kim won. Sabrina got two votes and Chelsea got none.
Hey, remember this season? Well if not, this recap is for you! Production learned how to use Google Earth to show the coastline! The shtick this season was that all eighteen of the castaways would be living on the same beach together, although they were divided into male and female tribes. The men were all about strength and machismo. The women were more about collaboration and unity. And yet, the men won the first six challenges, while the women couldn't even start a fire at camp. But the women finally got their shit together and won three challenges in a row. The men didn't know how to handle losing and Colton convinced them all to give up tribal immunity to get rid of Bill, who did nothing to deserve it. But for some reason, everyone was listening to Colton. Remember that?
Then there was a tribe switch (and the tribes stopped living together, though they don't mention that) and Colton and Alicia teamed up to bully Christina and pretty much everyone else. Luckily, Colton got an attack of belly pain-itis and was medically evacuated before things got too ugly. Like before anyone got killed or stoned to death or whatever. And then the women successfully eliminated all of the men through various methods until there were five women left. And now it's Christina and Alicia versus Chelsea and Sabrina with Kim in the middle and both pairs thinking that Kim's on their side. So this could get interesting.
So here's who we have left: Sabrina, who managed to survive without making any enemies, because her strategy was to stand back and listen; Kim, who's been running the show this whole time, but she's worried things might come crashing down; Christina, who got a lot of elimination votes, but she's still standing and thinks she's "the ultimate underdog"; Chelsea, who is close with the men and hopes that people will reward her hard work by voting for her to win; and Alicia, the city girl with attitude, who somehow managed to stay in the game even though she's made out of garbage. Who will win? I'm going to put my money on either Sabrina or Kim. No one will vote for Christina unless she's smart enough to give a speech about how she bucked the odds and I don't think she is. No one will vote for Alicia because she will get really defensive and mean under jury questioning. No one will vote for Chelsea because they all see her as Kim's lapdog. So I think it comes down to Kim and Sabrina.
Tikiano. Night 36. The women return to camp after voting out Tarzan and Kim says that it felt good for her. She interviews that it felt good to come back to camp, especially thinking about how they started out with no camp and no fire. Alicia interviews that she feels bittersweet about getting rid of Tarzan, because he was "one of [her] powers." I don't think she is using that word correctly. Is she a witch? And Tarzan was under her spell? I know that she means that Tarzan would vote how she told him to vote, but if she believes that's true then why get rid of him?
Chelsea says that it felt good when Jeff noted that the women finally got rid of all the men. Alicia interviews that she's pretty sure Kim is with her and she knows that Christina is, so now they just have to get rid of Chelsea and Sabrina. Alicia also congratulates herself on playing "one hell of a game." Shouldn't she hold off on the congratulations until she's, you know, in the finals? Calm down, Skippy.
Man, nothing happened in the first half of this episode because there are a LOT more nature shots than usual. They're beautiful, but I'd like to see some scheming. The morning, Kim and Sabrina go get treemail and talk strategy. Sabrina says that she wants to get rid of Alicia . Kim points out that Alicia may get some jury votes, but she won't get many and the only person who could beat Kim and Sabrina in the finals is Chelsea. Sabrina wants to know why Kim thinks that and Kim says, "Just people that I think will vote for her." Well, I'm convinced. Sabrina notes that she doesn't know if there's any honor left in the game, but if there is then they would look like dicks for taking out Chelsea. And feel like dicks. I can't believe Sabrina hasn't at least thought about this scenario. She should have run through every possible iteration and had a Plan A, B, C and D.
Sabrina interviews that she was surprised when Kim raised the topic, but then again, things change in this game by the minute. Exactly. So why are you surprised? Sabrina won't commit to Kim's plan, but wants to know more. Kim says they'd have to take Christina as their third, because she's such a non-entity. Sabrina interviews that the whole conversation made her wonder if she'll be on the chopping block if Chelsea wins immunity today. Probably! Although it would be weird of Kim to bring it up to Sabrina and then vote her out. Alicia interviews that she really needs Chelsea to lose today's challenge or all her plans go down the toilet.
Immunity Challenge! This is a twist on a typical end-of-season challenge. The women have to walk along a raised beam maze and then go across a giant rope net while gathering five bags of puzzle pieces. After using the pieces to solve a puzzle, the women will get clues to three numbers, which they then put into a combination lock correctly to win the challenge.
Survivors ready? Go! Before they can even enter the maze, they have to untie knots to remove a board and open a gate. Christina, of all people, gets through first with Kim hot on her heels. Alicia is dead last. This maze is no joke. It's really long and the boards are about the width of a foot, so if you're twisting and turning to look around and see where you're heading, you could easily fall. Christina and Kim do actually fall off.
Alicia and Chelsea are the first on the net. The bags of puzzle pieces are tied to the rope net, so they have to untie them. Alicia is dumb and doesn't understand that she's only supposed to take bags that are the same color as her armband, so she unties a few bags for someone else before Probst reminds her of the rules. I think she was untying Sabrina's bag.
Chelsea is the first to get all her bags and go to the puzzle-solving platform. It seems like the people who are doing well (Chelsea, Alicia and Kim) are solving the middle part first (the words) while Christina and Sabrina are doing it more like a traditional jigsaw puzzle and working the edges first.
Kim solves the puzzle first and reads the clue. She has to count the number of skulls pictured on the puzzle and then count the number of pieces and then the number of words. Alicia and Chelsea also finish the puzzle. Probst says that Christina and Sabrina are completely out, which isn't true. People might get the numbers wrong. Shut up, Probst! Especially since Kim gets the numbers wrong on her first try. She tries a few different combinations, but then goes back down to recheck her count. Alicia tries and fails. Chelsea tries and fails. Alicia rechecks and then heads back up top. Finally, Kim gets the right numbers in the right order and wins immunity. I guess Probst was right about Sabrina and Christina. It turns out that, when counting the skulls, Kim didn't count the one cow skull that was on there with all of the human skulls, but she finally figured it out.
The women return from the challenge and talk about how hard that challenge was, but also fun. Kim interviews that she's glad she won, but now she has a ton of options and can't figure out which way to go. She recognizes that every person who gets voted out becomes a jury member who may not vote for her out of bitterness, so she has to balance who she can beat with who she thinks might vote for her in the end.
Kim and Chelsea take off to "go fishing." Seriously, if you're Alicia, you're just going to sit by while these two go off to have a nice, long strategy talk? She trusts Kim THAT much? Anyway, once Kim and Chelsea sit down to talk, Chelsea says they should take Alicia out tonight and go to the final three with Sabrina. Kim interviews that her options right now are to get rid of Alicia or to get rid of Chelsea. Chelsea gives a heartfelt speech about how they're both scared that the other can win and she thinks Kim has played a great game and Chelsea is just lucky that they bonded so early on. Kim is near tears as she says that she feels the same way. Chelsea interviews that Kim thinks Chelsea could win and still wants to take her to the finals, unless she's going to backstab her. Chelsea doesn't seem to seriously consider that option.
Chelsea has another idea: Kim can tell Alicia and Christina to vote for Chelsea and then Chelsea can play Kim's Idol and fireworks will ensue. That seems unnecessary. As far as Chelsea is concerned, they have a majority in votes anyway. I don't know that Chelsea was making a totally serious suggestion, though. She was kind of laughing throughout. Kim interviews that she kind of wishes she hadn't told Chelsea about the Idol and she's the only one that knows.
Kim talks to Sabrina and says that they're voting out Alicia. Christina and Alicia watch from the beach while they are tanning. Alicia notes that the conversation is happening, but she's not worried. She explains in an interview that she's sure Kim is on her side, because it just makes no sense that Kim would want to go up against Chelsea and Sabrina in the finals. That would be true if Kim is playing according to the traditional Survivor playbook: take people to the finals that you think you can beat. But that remains to be seen. Alicia tells herself to relax and not be paranoid, but maybe she should be a leeetle more paranoid. Anyway, Kim then tells Alicia and Christina that Chelsea isn't worried because she thinks they're voting Alicia. Christina interviews that she believes Kim, because Kim would be a fool to take Chelsea to the finals. So Christina's basically admitting that she's useless and can't win? I don't get her at all. At least Alicia truly believes that she's controlling this game, so she thinks that will earn her jury votes. Christina knows she hasn't been controlling the game and she knows that everyone wants her in the finals because she's useless. Why is she even there?
Kim's final words are that she's made sure each side knows what the other is doing just to solidify things. Both sides think that she's with them and now she has to make her decision, but she sees the pros on both sides so it's tough.
Tribal Council. The women are seated and then the jury enters. Tarzan looks a lot better all cleaned up, but he needs to cut his hair and shave his face. Probst starts out by asking Alicia how the vibe was around camp and Alicia says it was pretty quiet and no one was scrambling. Chelsea agrees and thinks it's because you don't need to scramble with only five people. Probst points out that there's still paranoia though, and Chelsea agrees, adding that it would suck to leave when they're so close to the finals.
Probst asks Kim if she had mixed feelings since, on the one hand, she has immunity but, on the other hand, she has to vote someone out. It's weird how Probst seemed to zero in on the fact that Kim is the deciding vote. I'm guessing there was a lot of talk before that and it got edited out. Kim says that she likes everyone who is left and also the choice will impact the jury composition as well. Probst wonders if she's made her decisions through the end and Kim says she'll have to make another decision tomorrow depending on who wins the final immunity.
Probst keeps talking to Kim because we all know how everyone else is voting. He wonders what factors play into her voting decision and how she weighs those factors. She claims that loyalty is huge, which earns a big eyeroll from Kat. Probst thinks everyone left has been loyal and Kim gives a long-winded answer about perception and self-perception. Probst points out that most people would just take the person they know they can beat. Kim says that she should, but her heart gets in the way. She's made connections with people and listened to their stories and now she has to send someone home.
Probst offers everyone the chance to say a final word to Kim, so I guess it's just out in the open that Kim is the deciding vote. Alicia says that she and Kim have been allied since day one, so they don't even need to talk about it. Troy is disgusted for some reason. Sabrina says that she's good and has nothing to say. Probst can't believe it. Christina dully says that she's been true and loyal in every vote, which isn't true. She was throwing odd votes out there all along, probably to curry jury favor. Chelsea says that she knows Kim is worried about how the jury feels, but she thinks Kim has the chance to earn jury respect tonight. Kim agrees that she's worried about the jury but in the end, she just has to listen to her own feelings and remember why she's there. So I was really, really sure that she was voting out Chelsea after those statements. It seemed like Kim was saying that she's there to win and she knows she has to do what it takes to make that happen.
So who did Kim vote for? Probst tallies the vote and then no one plays a hidden Immunity Idol. As we already knew, there are two votes for Chelsea and two for Alicia. Kat whispers that Chelsea is leaving. I thought the jury wasn't allowed to talk. And the fourteenth person voted out is... Alicia. I was gobsmacked. I really, really thought Kim was going to follow the traditional Survivor playbook and take someone she knew she could beat and stick with Alicia and Christina. Kat whispers that Kim backstabbed her and Alicia. Ooh, Kat is going to be a bitter juror. In Alicia's exit interview, she says that she's not bitter and she's impressed by how well Kim fooled her. She's not so impressed with Christina, who is only there because Alicia convinced everyone to keep her. Seriously. I don't like Alicia, but I think I like Christina even less. I admire someone who has strong opinions -- even if I disagree with them -- over someone who has no opinions or agency.
The final four return to camp. Kim apologizes for lying to Christina for a long time. Christina interviews that she thought she was going to the finals and Kim did a great job playing her. Kim says that Christina is resilient and Christina says it's totally okay that they screwed her over. No big deal, guys! Step all over me! I'm a doormat! Christina interviews that people don't think she deserves to be here and... then she has no argument against that because she's so lame.
Kim and Chelsea whisper that if Christina wins immunity, she will cry. Chelsea interviews that she was really worried about going home and she owes a huge debt to Kim. She adds that Christina is not well-spoken and it'll be a joke if she tries to explain her "strategy" to a jury. No doubt. So now Chelsea and Kim have to figure out if they're taking Sabrina or Christina. I mean, I would says that Christina is a no-brainer, but Kim has shown that she's not really down with taking the easy way out, so who knows?
The morning, Christina gets treemail. She interviews that she knows she needs to win this challenge and in challenges, she has gone at "a mediocre pace." I don't think she knows what mediocre means, and I would argue that her game thus far has been sub-mediocre anyway. Kim tells Sabrina that she doesn't want Christina to go into the challenge thinking that it's do or die, because they're worried that she might pull it off by some miracle.
Christina reads the treemail, which tells them to go on the Walk of Fallen Survivors on their way to the immunity challenge. Sigh. I thought we were done with this. Well, let's dispense with this in one sentence each, representing what the finalists thought of each one. Courtney: she hurt her wrist and never got to play. Nina: she hated younger women. Matt: he was cute but argumentative. Bill: he made some people laugh, but Colton hated him. Monica: she was kick-ass but just didn't make it into the alliance formed on day one. Colton: his evacuation was a game-changer. Jonas: he cooked good food. Michael: he was big. Seriously, that's all they said. Jay: A nice guy with a good outlook on life. Leif: small in stature but big in heart and a gentle soul. I think that's a nice way of saying "kind of dumb." Troy: biggest strategic threat in the game and he was the only one who almost broke up the women's alliance. Kat: brave and determined. Tarzan: he grew on us. Alicia: made it a lot further than anyone thought when they saw her on day one with her five-inch heels. Then they burn all the nametags they gathered along the way.
Time for the final immunity challenge! Christina really needs to win this if she wants to go to the finals. Maybe. Probably. It would be a good idea for her to actually try at something in this game for once. Anyway, the challenge involves using a long wooden pole to maneuver a bowl through a channel. There's a huge metal sculpture in front of them and they have to move the bowl along it and then stack the bowl on top. Sounds easy, right? Well, the sculpture is on a giant spring, so if they bang the stick into the sides or even breathe on it wrong, it's going to wobble. And they have to stack ten bowls on top. Yikes.
The challenge begins. Kim is the first one to stack a bowl on top. The others are not too far behind. Kim is super focused and in the zone, at least until she drops a bowl. Oops. That allows Christina to catch up, while Chelsea and Sabrina seem to fall behind. As Kim and Christina work on their ninth bowls, the wind picks up and it makes their structures move a little bit. Kim's stack of bowls is looking quite precarious as she winds through the structure with her tenth bowl. She gets it through and places it on top and she wins immunity. Holy shit. She is a challenge monster. She starts crying and Christina hugs her, as do Sabrina and Chelsea. Probst even tells her that she dominated the individual immunities. Wow, Probst -- don't sprain something patting her on the back. If she were a dude and had won this many challenges, Probst would never shut up about it. As it is, he's like, "Eh, not bad!"
The ladies walk back to their camp. Kim interviews that this was the challenge that she REALLY wanted to win so that she could go to Tribal Council with no worries. Later, after a swim, Christina approaches Kim and says that she just wants to know what's happening and not get blindsided. Kim understands and confirms that they're voting out Christina. Instead of coming up with a counter argument or anything, Christina basically says, "Okay. Sounds good. Catch you later." I mean, what is wrong with her? She is the most passive person I've ever seen, not just on this show but in life. Is she in a coma? Christina interviews that she thought maybe she could talk Kim out of voting for her, but Kim seemed adamant. THAT'S adamant? Ugh. I can't even. I don't ever want to go on this show, but I know a lot of people do and it must drive them crazy to watch Christina just roll over and play dead. Not to mention that it's super boring to watch.
Kim finds Chelsea and tells her about the conversation with Christina. Kim says that it's hard to not take Christina because she won't get votes. Kim interviews that Christina didn't even fight for the chance to stay, but Kim has decided to stick with her alliance. They edit together a bunch of different statements from Kim (they stick them in a voice-over, so I have to imagine they are taken from a bunch of different interviews and they're hiding it by not showing her saying them in different outfits with different hair or whatever) to try to make us think there's a chance Kim might still want to take Christina but it's not even really Kim's call at this point. If Chelsea and Sabrina vote for Christina, the best Kim could do is a tie and I don't think she'll risk that. Plus, Christina sucks.
Tribal Council. Probst reminds them that Kim is going to the finals no matter what and now they'll find out who will join her. Probst wants to know if it was a busy afternoon with people scrambling and Kim says it was actually quiet. Sabrina adds that the cards were laid out after the challenge and everyone knew what was happening. Probst thinks that means one person had to be scrambling, if it was clear who was getting the votes. Chelsea says they made it clear and Probst wants to know who it is. No one speaks until Christina finally says it's her and the alliance of the other three is really strong.
Probst actually does a good job pursuing this and asks why Christina didn't scramble if she knew she was being voted out. I mean, she has nothing to lose. Christina says that Sabrina hasn't done well on challenges and hasn't done anything with strategy. So now Christina is trying to say that she's more DESERVING than Sabrina? That is possibly the worst argument that she could have made. She is terrible at this. My two-year-old has better debating skills and most of our debates are about how he wants more candy and I say no more candy.
Probst wants to know if Sabrina is surprised that Christina is just going to lie down and die. Sabrina says she doesn't know what's going on in Christina's mind, but that even if it didn't always show, Sabrina has been involved in strategy since day one. She adds that if her name was out there as a potential evictee, she would try everything possible to change that. Because you are a human with a functioning brain! On the jury, Kat whispers that Sabrina is a great speaker. NO TALKING ON THE JURY! It's really bothering me.
Probst says that the most unlikely people have won this game, but you have to be in the finals to win. He continues that there are lots of people on the jury who would have liked to have Christina's opportunity. Christina says she understands, but with Alicia gone she didn't see a way to break up the dominant alliance. So she didn't try. Probst asks Kim if she would have done the same thing in Christina's place. Kim says she wouldn't and Christina had a lot of arguments she could have made for herself today, but she decided not to.
When Sabrina votes, she whispers that Christina didn't even play the game and she's not even sure if Christina knew they were playing Survivor. Seriously. Did she think it was a nice vacation and one person disappeared every three days? Did she think she was filming a horror movie? Anyway, Christina gets voted out three to one... shocker. What a waste of space.
The morning, Sabrina gets up really early and watches the sunrise, and cries about how amazing this experience has been and how it's almost time to go home. She confesses that she got laid off from her teaching job two weeks before she left, but she would still like her former students to see what she's done and aspire to something more than what they see around them. I feel like we didn't learn much about Sabrina as a person this season so the editors just threw that in there to make up for ignoring her in past weeks.
As the three remaining women walk to get treemail, Kim jokes that she's going to tell the jury that she did lie to them and vote them out, but she has no boobs left, so they should have mercy. Kim is looking quite skeletal, it's true. When they arrive at the mailbox, they find breakfast and mimosas. Chelsea interviews that she didn't expect to make the finals and she got a lot more from the experience than the million dollars in terms of friendships and memories. I bet that million dollars would be nice, though.
Kim, Chelsea and Sabrina make mimosas and toast one another. Kim's background interview is about how she recently got divorced and this experience helped her regain her confidence and her ability to make decisions without making huge mistakes. I bet her ex-husband is watching this like, "SHIT! That was bad timing."
The three women arrive at Tribal Council that night to face the jury. After everyone is seated, Probst congratulates the final three women for going as far as it's possible to go in this game and reminds them that the power shifts to the jury now, as they will be voting for the winner. Each woman will make an opening statement and then the jury members get to ask questions.
Chelsea starts by asking if she can stand and they take a while deciding that she can stand, which was weird. Why is this important? Chelsea says that she and Kim met on day one and they worked together to determine who would stay and who would go. But her game changed at the merge, because she had such a difficult time voting Jonas out and she realized that she needed to take her heart out of the decision-making process. As a result, she thinks some of the jury members may have seen her as cold or aloof. She knows Kim had more emotional connections with them. Chelsea failed to make much of an argument for herself there. It was kind of like, "I did everything Kim did, but I was kind of a bitch about it and didn't get to know anyone."
Kim is up . She says that she always thought Survivor was a game and she intended to play as hard as she could. She's proud of her strategy, but sending people home took a toll on her, which she didn't anticipate. Every time she had to make a decision, she thought about her family at home and how the money could help them and she prioritized her family over the near-strangers in front of her. She adds that she wouldn't take anything back even if she could, because it all led to her being in the finals and that was her goal. That was great. She is so smart. She didn't suck up and she was honest, but she gave them a reason to vote for her: she played hard and who wouldn't prioritize family over fellow contestants? I'm a little surprised that she didn't mention all of her challenge wins.
Sabrina gives the final opening statement. She says that her strategy was all about balance and to avoid putting a target on her back. She scaled back her physical prowess and purposely lost challenges so people wouldn't consider her a threat. Sabrina also chose not to be "the messenger" and I'm not sure what she's talking about here. She's saying that she DID help with strategy, but she didn't want to get any credit for it so that people wouldn't hate her? That sounds kind of warmish. I thought Sabrina was supposed to be the great speaker?
Time for my least favorite segment: jury questions. It's very rare that useful information is revealed. Usually it's just bitterness. Jonas is first and he starts asking a really serious question about the ground rules, but he can't even get through it without cracking up because he's not serious. He tells Sabrina that he loves her, but she was terrible at challenges and she agrees. He tells Chelsea that she's beautiful, but he wants to know what her boldest move was. Chelsea says that it was her idea to take Kat out. Jonas tells Kim that she played a flawless game until last Tribal, when she didn't take Christina. Kim says that if everyone hated her anyway, they would vote for Christina out of spite and if they thought she played a great game, she could beat whomever she took.
Christina is . She wants to know if Kim had decided to take her to the finals, which of the other finalists would still be there. Kim pauses and then says that she thinks she has a better chance at beating Sabrina, so she would have knocked out Chelsea. Christina's question for Chelsea makes zero sense: "Why do you hate people?" Was Chelsea really that awful? It seemed like she was okay. She wasn't Little Miss Sunshine or anything, but it didn't seem like people hated her either. Chelsea denies hating people and repeats her opening gambit that she had to play with her head and not her heart.
Jay. Remember that guy? He congratulates them and says he has no hard feelings. Jay thinks that Sabrina seemed to take it easy around camp and he wondered if laying back was really her strategy or if she's just lazy. Sabrina says that she's kind of overbearing in real life, so she knew she had to dial it down around camp. Plus, she just learned how to swim so she wasn't going to go spear any fish. Jay respects her honesty.
Mike tells Kim to define a blindside. Kim says it's sending someone home who has no idea and ensuring that they don't know it's about to happen. Kim agrees that she created a lot of blindsides and explains to Mike that he got blindsided because he was the only guy that they could get Troy to agree to vote out. Mike tells her that she took all the blame for all of the blindsides and didn't try to pass it off on her alliance-mates. That could have been a smart move or a dumb one. Sound like Mike thought it was smart because people will respect her more.
Good Lord, this recap is already long enough so I am not going to recap Tarzan's ridiculous speech. He uses a lot of words that he doesn't really understand. Like concatenations doesn't mean "twists and turns." Shut it, oldie. Anyway, he starts crying when he talks about his wife and thanks the women for letting him stay long enough to get to see her. And he has no questions. Chelsea wants to tell him that he's shown her that true love exists and now she won't settle for anything less and she thanks him for that. Whatever. I mean, it is kind of touching, but I know many, many couples that have stayed together for a long time and appear to still be in love.
Leif is . He wants to know the story of why they voted him off. Kim says that she could never figure out whether she could trust Leif or not and he had voted for her before, so she knew he would vote for him again. Sabrina says that she didn't make the decision to get rid of him, but she did go along with it and she didn't give him a heads up because it would have hurt her in the game. That's honest, but also a terrible answer.
Alicia still thinks she was a kingpin and compares herself to Kim and says that she would have a good chance of winning if she were still in it. Chelsea and Sabrina are all frown-y like, "Are we even here? Does she see us?" Anyway, Alicia has no questions. It really feels like there are a lot of people just standing up and making statements and sitting down. Lame.
Okay, the Bitterness Train just pulled into the station. You KNOW that Troy is going to be sour. He does congratulate them and says he doesn't hate them. His beef is with Kim though, so he's going to focus on her. Her answer to this question determines his vote and he acts like it will determine whether she will win or not. I think he only gets one vote, right? And I really hope that the other idiots aren't planning on voting with him like lemmings. Anyway, he wants to know when Kim decided to get rid of him. Kim says it was when she took Jonas out. I thought he was asking when she decided she wasn't going to align with him, but I think he was asking what he felt was a factual question. I don't know. He's nut cakes.
Who's left? Oh, Kat. This could also be bitter. Kat says she was really upset when she was voted out and she felt hurt, especially by Kim. However, Kat has had multiple open-heart surgeries and will need another year so she's learned to be grateful for life and let go of anger. She turns and tells the jury members to let go of their anger and vote for who played the best game. She adds that she would love to be in the finals, but it's a lot easier to smile and forgive and be happy. I SO did not expect that AT ALL. I'm a lot more impressed with Kat than I was previously. However, I do think it may have been a bit of a ploy to be asked to return to the show in a future season.
And then it's time to vote. My recording cut off right in the middle of voting, so I didn't get to see all of the individual votes. Troy voted for Sabrina. Kat voted for Kim. And then Probst gathered the votes and took them to whatever lockbox where they are kept pending the Reunion.
Cut to the reunion. Hey, Blossom is in the audience. I'm surprised one of her kids isn't in a sling on her lap. Anyway, I think Probst has had some Botox since the season ended, because his forehead is not moving. For once, the women actually look pretty good even with all the makeup and weight gain and everything. Sabrina's hair looks better natural, but Kim and Chelsea kind of look the same.
Probst gives this big speech about what it takes to last in the game. Why is he stalling? Is he coked up or what? Did he just shotgun a Coke? Finally, Probst starts reading. Kim gets a vote. Sabrina gets a vote. Kim gets a vote. Sabrina gets a vote. Kim gets a vote. Kim gets a vote. And the winner is... Kim. For all of the aftermath, check out the reunion recap!
