The Who Whatting How With Huh?

By Cindy McLennan

Henry may not be a suspect in Gemma's disappearance, but he sure is a person of interest. As the search for Gemma heats up, he is hounded by the media. The cops call him, Bridget (as Shiv) and Andrew in for questioning, too. In one of the top three twists of the night, detectives question Andrew and Henry (separately). When shown Bridget's mugshot, each man correctly identifies the subject as Bridget Kelly. Meanwhile, Agent Victor "Guyliner" Machado has Bridget alone in another room. When the cops inform him that Andrew and Henry know about Bridget, Machado tells "Shiv" he is surprised she came clean with Andrew and Henry about her twin. She says it's hard to keep secrets when he's around. In a flashback, we then learn that Bridget (as Shiv) just confessed to Andrew and Henry the day before that she has a troubled twin with whom she severed contact years ago. Andrew is understandably miffed that his "wife" has kept this secret. Things are tense between the two of them, for much of the episode.

In other news, Malcolm manages to escape from Macawi's minions, heads home for some cash and a clean shirt that he inexplicably put on over his bloody wife beater, and he heads off the New York City, making it there in record time. Meanwhile, back on Park Ave., Bridget does her best to mend fences with Andrew. The show is playing it close to the vest on how intimate these two have been over time (I think we're still at two to three weeks, story time-wise), but reading between Andrew's lines, I totally think they're doing it. They embrace, make up and get ready to attend an opening at Gemma's recent big building project, but before they get out the door, Andrew gets a call from Juliet's teacher, Mr. "Logan Echolls" Carpenter, that Juliet has been in a car accident. Andrew rushes to the scene. Juliet is okay, if still attitudinous (is too a word). I'll hit that story in the full write-up.

Bridget attends the opening alone and spends time talking to Henry, who is just starting to realize he still loves Gemma. Great timing, Tool Belt. It's when Bridget sees Henry to his cab that things heat up. Once Henry is gone, Bridget turns around and finds Malcolm wandering through the crowd. She says his name and then FAINTS!

When Andrew arrives at the hospital, he thanks a still messed up Malcolm (out in the hall) for coming to his wife's aid. Malcolm then wanders off screen, while Andrew goes in to see "Shiv." Guess what Bridget is getting? A pre-natal ultrasound. She tries to refuse, but Andrew points out how ridiculous that would be. The tech starts up the ultrasound and puts the paddles on Bridget's belly, but we don't get to see if Bridget's womb is fruitful. Thus we are left with what amounts to Schrödinger's baby. We cut to...

JFK Airport: Early on in the episode, Bridget appeals to NA Charlie (who used to be a cop) for some help steering the police away from Henry and toward another suspect. She sends him to find Gemma's car, which Henry left at JFK long-term parking. When NA Charlie opens the hatch, he finds blood and wipes it off. THAT BLOOD IS NA CHARLIE'S BLOOD. He calls the real Siobhan in Paris, and apprises her of the situation. It seems when he first attacked Gemma in front of her Gramercy Park home, she fought him off and he cut his head in the scuffle. While the flashback shows Gemma running into her home, and shows NA Charlie running after her, we still don't see him kill her, so she's still Schrödinger's Gemma, as far as I'm concerned. Siobhan wants to know if everyone still thinks Bridget is Shiv. NA Charlie confirms they do. Everything is working according to plan, and she should call him with her move.

There's much more to talk about, including whether Bridget could be pregnant, and if she is, if she's pregnant by Andrew (with whom we do not know if she's slept) or Malcolm (we see them hit the sheets in a flashback this week). I'll be back with the weecap, ASAP. In the meantime, please grade the episode at the top of the page and then join us in the show thread, where we warm the gel before putting the ultrasound paddle on your tummy.
