The Who Whatting How With Huh?

Henry may not be a suspect in Gemma's disappearance, but he sure is a person of interest. As the search for Gemma heats up, he is hounded by the media. The cops call him, Bridget (as Shiv) and Andrew in for questioning, too. In one of the top three twists of the night, detectives question Andrew and Henry (separately). When shown Bridget's mugshot, each man correctly identifies the subject as Bridget Kelly. Meanwhile, Agent Victor "Guyliner" Machado has Bridget alone in another room. When the cops inform him that Andrew and Henry know about Bridget, Machado tells "Shiv" he is surprised she came clean with Andrew and Henry about her twin. She says it's hard to keep secrets when he's around. In a flashback, we then learn that Bridget (as Shiv) just confessed to Andrew and Henry the day before that she has a troubled twin with whom she severed contact years ago. Andrew is understandably miffed that his "wife" has kept this secret. Things are tense between the two of them, for much of the episode.

In other news, Malcolm manages to escape from Macawi's minions, heads home for some cash and a clean shirt that he inexplicably put on over his bloody wife beater, and he heads off the New York City, making it there in record time. Meanwhile, back on Park Ave., Bridget does her best to mend fences with Andrew. The show is playing it close to the vest on how intimate these two have been over time (I think we're still at two to three weeks, story time-wise), but reading between Andrew's lines, I totally think they're doing it. They embrace, make up and get ready to attend an opening at Gemma's recent big building project, but before they get out the door, Andrew gets a call from Juliet's teacher, Mr. "Logan Echolls" Carpenter, that Juliet has been in a car accident. Andrew rushes to the scene. Juliet is okay, if still attitudinous (is too a word). I'll hit that story in the full write-up.

Bridget attends the opening alone and spends time talking to Henry, who is just starting to realize he still loves Gemma. Great timing, Tool Belt. It's when Bridget sees Henry to his cab that things heat up. Once Henry is gone, Bridget turns around and finds Malcolm wandering through the crowd. She says his name and then FAINTS!

When Andrew arrives at the hospital, he thanks a still messed up Malcolm (out in the hall) for coming to his wife's aid. Malcolm then wanders off screen, while Andrew goes in to see "Shiv." Guess what Bridget is getting? A pre-natal ultrasound. She tries to refuse, but Andrew points out how ridiculous that would be. The tech starts up the ultrasound and puts the paddles on Bridget's belly, but we don't get to see if Bridget's womb is fruitful. Thus we are left with what amounts to Schrödinger's baby. We cut to...

JFK Airport: Early on in the episode, Bridget appeals to NA Charlie (who used to be a cop) for some help steering the police away from Henry and toward another suspect. She sends him to find Gemma's car, which Henry left at JFK long-term parking. When NA Charlie opens the hatch, he finds blood and wipes it off. THAT BLOOD IS NA CHARLIE'S BLOOD. He calls the real Siobhan in Paris, and apprises her of the situation. It seems when he first attacked Gemma in front of her Gramercy Park home, she fought him off and he cut his head in the scuffle. While the flashback shows Gemma running into her home, and shows NA Charlie running after her, we still don't see him kill her, so she's still Schrödinger's Gemma, as far as I'm concerned. Siobhan wants to know if everyone still thinks Bridget is Shiv. NA Charlie confirms they do. Everything is working according to plan, and she should call him with her move.

There's much more to talk about, including whether Bridget could be pregnant, and if she is, if she's pregnant by Andrew (with whom we do not know if she's slept) or Malcolm (we see them hit the sheets in a flashback this week). I'll be back with the weecap, ASAP. In the meantime, please grade the episode at the top of the page and then join us in the show thread, where we warm the gel before putting the ultrasound paddle on your tummy.

So, I'm covering Once Upon A Time now, too. Two of the main characters are named Henry and Emma. When Ringer first started, I had the hardest time reminding my fingers they were supposed to type Gemma. After I finished my first OUAT write-up, I had to search for Gemma and replace it with Emma. I found something like 14 Gemmas where my Emmas should have been. They're doing this to make me crazy, aren't they? Well, they're too darned late. That said, if I type Emma in here, you know who I mean, right? I mean Not-Blossom. Anyhow...

Gramercy Park: Henry Butler may not be an official suspect in Gemma's disappearance, but he sure is a person of interest. As the search for Gemma heats up, he is hounded by the media. His statement? "Whoever did this? I want my wife back." Why didn't they take/silence/kill him instead? He's not just a tool, he's the entire tool belt, I tell you what.

Park Ave: Bridget sits and watches the news (in a brown, leather halter dress). When Andrew comes in, he reminds her that stress isn't any good for the baby. Bridget asks if they can hire a P.I. to help find Gemma. Andrew says that since Gemma's father is filthy rich and powerful, they can trust the cops are on it. He then reminds her of the Art Pavillion opening that's coming up. It's a project Gemma worked on for two years. Henry would like Andrew and "Shiv" to attend. He sees it as a tribute to Gemma.

Juliet enters with She-Cop and a uniformed officer in tow. Andrew's all Oh-Bother-What-Did-You-Do-Now, but it's just a coincidence that the cops came in with her. They want to question Bridget about Gemma's disappearance. While Bridget is in her room getting ready, Andrew gets all expectant-daddyish with the police and blusters, "My wife's pregnant. And she's been through a lot these past days. This had better be brief."

Bridget paces around her dressing room until she has an idea. She takes her old Bridget-Kelly flip phone out of a boot, and makes a call. "Hey, it's Bridget. I'm not sure what to say or how to explain, but I think I really messed up this time." This time? Bridget, if death was Buffy's gift, messing up is yours.

Back in the parlor, Juliet asks if she can spend the weekend with Monica Reynolds in Stamford. "I won't do anything wrong. I promise." Oh, that's reassuring. "You already banned me from seeing Erica. Can I at least have one friend?" After some hemming and hawing, Andrew agrees, but tells Juliet to have Erica's parents call him. Andrew my gullible love, you call the parents first, THEN you give your consent. Once Juliet is gone, She-Cop gets off the phone and tells Andrew they want to question him, too. It seems the last call Gemma made was to him. Andrew, his navy blazer, baby blue shirt and pretty pink tie are silently outraged, but Britishly cooperative.

Cop Shop: Machado insists She-Cop cannot release either Bridget's name or photo to the press. She's in too much danger from Macawi. He reminds her they're working toward the same goal and goes in to question "Siobhan." Meanwhile, She-Cop has Andrew in another interview room. She shows him Bridget's mugshot and says, "Mr. Martin, do you know who this is?" Andrew picks up the picture and looks at She-Cop. We cut to a third interview room, in which He-Cop hands Bridget's mugshot to Tool Belt and asks him the same thing. Split screen. Tool Belt is on the left. Andrew is on the right. They both answer, "Bridget Kelly." I did not see that coming.Title card.

Dual Flashback. We cut back and forth between Park Ave. and Gramercy Park, while Bridget-as-Shiv tells Tool Belt and Andrew (at separate times) all about her druggie twin sister. Andrew is angry and hurt. When Juliet wanders into his flashback, he wants to tell her. Bridget asks him not to, but Andrew says, "She's our daughter. She should know." He turns to Juliet. "Siobhan has a twin sister." Juliet gets to utter the episode title (I think she's done that a few times, now). "Oh Gawd, there's two of them?" Bridget-as-Shiv makes it clear to both Andrew and Tool Belt that "Bridget" is a part of her life she wanted to forget. She was always in trouble, doing drugs, never working, and Shiv was always cleaning up her mess. Tool Belt, surprisingly, has enough of a clue to ask, "Why are you telling me now?" Bridget tells him about how Bridget was supposed to testify against Macawi, but took off, and showed up in New York and eventually bolted. "The FBI contacted me. They think that she might, somehow, be involved in Gemma's disappearance." She claims to both men that she didn't want them caught off guard if they're questioned. Where Henry's reaction can be summed up as confusion, Andrew is hurt, angry and concerned.

Cop Shop: She-Cop needs a moment of Agent Guyliner's time, just as he's starting his interrogation of Bridget-as-Shiv. When he returns to the interview room, he tells "Shiv" he's surprised that Andrew and Tool Belt know who Bridget it. "I thought you were keeping your sister a secret." Bridget: "It's hard keeping anything a secret with you guys around." When Guyliner asks if she has anything else she'd like to volunteer, Bridget takes out Shiv's Blackberry (or similar QWERTY keyboard phone). "My sister's not in New York, anymore." She plays the message she recorded in her dressing room, earlier that morning. "Hey, it's Bridget. I'm not sure what to say or how to explain, but I think I really messed up this time." This time, there's more. "And I don't think there's anything you can do to fix it. I have to leave New York. I was thinking, maybe, Europe. Uh, we always used to talk about going there. Anyway, I um... I just wanted to say I'm sorry, and... goodbye." I can't even describe how much I would love it if Guyliner went to Paris, found Shiv, and refused to believe she's not Bridget. I wish finger print technology would suddenly disappear from this show's world. Oh, you look at me like I'm being ridiculous, but you realize you're reading a recap of a show you watch every week, revolving around an ex-junkie/stripper/possibly-prostitute, who has assumed her evil, rich socialite twin's life, fooling said sister's husband, lover, best friend, step-daughter and the FBI agent assigned to her case. See? Like misery, ridiculousity (is too a word) loves company. Come sit by me and stop bogarting the wine, will ya?

Bridget-as-Shiv tells Guyliner, "She left it, this morning. I tried calling the number back, but it's blocked." He gestures toward the phone. "May I?" Scrolling through the caller ID, he finds the blocked call. "The message was left at 8:15 AM. That's just shortly after Detective Saldana came to get you." Bridget: "So?" Guyliner: "So how can I be sure you weren't helping Bridget -- telling her to get out of town." Bridget: "I assure you, Agent Machado, my talking to you doesn't help my sister." Guyliner wants to know what Bridget meant in her message when she said she really messed up, and what her relationship is to Gemma. When Bridget-as-Shiv says she doesn't know, Guyliner tells her he has evidence that puts Bridget in the Butler home. "And you have no idea how your sister and your best friend know each other." B says, "The only connection I'm aware of is a conversation you had with Gemma, about my sister." Guyliner: "Do you even care that your best friend's missing, Mrs. Martin and that your sister's involved?" After he starts badgering her with stuff like, "Lover's wife -- out of the picture, trouble-maker sister on the run," B rises to her feet. "We're done here."

Bridget exits the interview room and finds Tool Belt. When she asks if he's okay, he says he just wants to go home. Andrew leaves his interview and tells B the car is downstairs. Before they can leave, Guyliner comes out and says he has one more question. "It's about Malcolm Ward." B tells Andrew she'll meet him downstairs. He's in a huff when he tells her he'll be in the car. Once he's gone, Guyliner says he knows "Shiv" has been in contact with Malcolm. B says he called her out of concern for Bridget. Guyliner: "Well, now there's reason to be concerned about him. He's missing. If your sister calls again, let her know. I know it's a long shot, but bad news might get her to come back and testify. Bodaway's looking for Bridget and he thought Malcolm had the answer. Maybe he didn't?" Bridget gulps. "Do you think he might...be dead?" Guyliner says all he knows is that there were signs of foul play.

Outside the station, Bridget tries to call Malcolm, but gets a message that this number she's calling is out of service. She tries again, and gets the same message. Inside the car, Andrew is grim and silent.

Rock Springs: Macawi's minions are driving a villainous van. In the back is Malcolm, with a black hood over his eyes. One of the minions pull the hood off and confirms Mal is still breathing. When he puts the hood back on Mal's head, Mal looks through it, and notices the minion's black and red boots. They park the van at a gas station, to make a pit stop and get some food. Once a still-drugged Mal realizes he's alone, he gets the hood off his head and wriggles out of the ropes tied around his wrist. He gets out of the back of the van and into commercial.

Park Ave, Night: Andrew finds Bridget-as-Shiv on the balcony, and gives her a guilt trip about her failure to tell him about her twin. When he asks who Malcolm Ward is, B says he's her sister's NA sponsor and we flash back to...

Nine Months Ago, Rock Springs, Wyoming: Malcolm brings Bridget a cake to mark her three months of sobriety. They talk about her recovery and it's clear Bridget is attached to him. When she kisses him, he at first resists and tells her they can't. Well, why not? I mean, I get it. He's her sponsor. But? So get another sponsor, silly. When she looks up at him, he reconsiders. It's not long before they're making out. Sarah Michelle Gellar really hit the pretty-men jackpot with this series, didn't she? I mean even Tool Belt is good looking.

Park Ave Balcony: Andrew now understands why "Shiv" knows how to deal with Juliet's drug abuse. He asks some questions about Bridget and then admits he did some research, and he read it on the Internet, so it must be true. He knows Bridget witnessed a friend being strangled at a strip club, was going to testify, but ran, instead. Since she was messed up with such bad people, he is worried for their safety and for Juliet's. He's also all sneery about Shiv's sister being an addict and a prostitute. B cries as she says it doesn't matter. Her sister has left the country and she can't hurt them anymore. Andrew: "That doesn't forgive the fact that you weren't honest with me. What about our...uh...promise? No more secrets." When Bridget replies that she told him the truth, Andrew says, "Only because you had to." Andrew excuses himself to call Juliet. "I'm starting to regret letting her go away for the weekend." Well, duh, sweetness. You had plenty of reason to regret that choice, even before you knew about Macawi and co. Whether she's trying to clean up her act or not, that child already should have been grounded until her 30th birthday.

Once Bridget is alone, we flashback to her and Malcolm. They're putting their clothes on. My assumption is they had sex, but we never see it, so with this show, who knows. Bridget tells him, "Just say it." Malcolm says, "Say what?" Bridget: "It was a mistake." He nods as he agrees, and then he chuckles. "You know how I feel about you, right." And I keep trying to write up this scene, but he's got his shirt off, and my word he's beautiful. He says something about them having crossed a line. But which line, Malcolm? Which one? He also promises Bridget he'll always be there for her. "No matter what." The first time I watched, I was sure they had sex. Now I'm more thinking the writers are trying to trick us into thinking they had sex. I want to go looking for spoilers. Shoot. I've been clean a long time. I should call my Spoiler Addicts Anonymous sponsor.

Wyoming, Present Day: Malcolm makes it home. HOME? Are ya stupid? Home, by the way is 77 Canton Road, Rock Springs, Wyoming, . What? There's an envelope in Malcom's desk drawer, and the camera sure is concentrating on it, so I assume we need to know that for a reason. Yes, I covered Lost for too long. What of it? Anyhow, Malcolm doesn't do anything sensible like call the cops or even take off his bloody tank top. He pulls a clean shirt on, grabs a coat (and what I think is his wallet), and checks out the window, to see if the coast is clear.

Bridget meets NA Charlie in a coffee shop. Since he's an ex-cop, she tells him about Gemma's disappearance and asks for his help, but warns him she's going to be tight lipped about details. She tells him Henry is innocent and she knows the cops are chasing the wrong suspect. She wants him to go to the precinct and ask a buddy to let her look at the evidence. He laughs at how preposterous this sounds. When B says she came to him because she doesn't have anyone else she can trust, he points out she won't even tell him her name. Bridget looks him in the eye. "Siobhan Martin." Charlie's eyes light up at this, and I immediately flash to the end of the last episode, when I it sounded like Charlie was Actual-Siobhan's mystery caller. I know I should wait for more confirmation, but I yell out, "I CALLED IT." My family rolls their eyes at me and tells me to shut up. It's chilly, and I'm all wrapped up in an afghan, so I give them the stealth finger. Why don't I watch this alone? Charlie says he'll see what he can do.

Wyoming: A bus pulls up outside the Halfway House Cafe. Get it? Because Malcolm is an addict. Oh the cheese! The passengers, including Mal, get off the bus. In the rest room, he takes off his clean shirt and washes his face. He's really jonesing. As he leans against the wall, he recognizes the black and red boots from inside the van. He pretends to leave the restroom, but then jumps Macawi's minion, as the latter is exiting the stall. And yes. It is totally implausible that they didn't find Malcolm at his house as soon as he went missing. They were stalking him for days before they grabbed him. Since they knew where he works, they must know where he lives. He was on foot. They had a van. And yes, it's equally as ridiculous that while the minions couldn't find him at his very own house, they had no problem finding him at a bus stop. I've seen people ranting about this, but I starting to think the minion's blather explains this differently. I'm starting to think they left Malcolm in the back of the van so he could escape and they could follow him to Bridget. Here's why: Malcolm knocks the minion down and disarms him. The minion laughs. "You didn't think we were dumb enough to let you get away that easy." Mal tells him to shut up and stop following him. Minion: "Even if you don't lead us to Bridget, we're still going to find her, one way or another." Malcolm says, "Not if I can help it, and knocks the minion out." He walks out of the john, still wearing that bloody wife beater. To me, that sounds like the minion admitted they let Malcolm escape so they could follow him.

New York: Leaving their NA meeting, Bridget asks Charlie if he found anything. "Just that Bridget Kelly is their only suspect, and you are her twin sister. Is that why you're so hellbent on trying to clear the suspect's name?" He says he wants to help and asks where Gemma's car is. Bridget dithers at first, but then tells him the car is at JFK, in long term parking. She'll get back to him with the exact location. I'd wonder how she'll be able to manipulate that information out of Tool Belt, but then I remember he's Tool Belt. Bridget thanks Charlie for his help. He tells her she's welcome, gives her a 1,000 watt smile and gets into his car.

New York, House Party, Night: Looks like Andrew never got a call from Monica Reynolds' parents. No wonder Juliet is such a mess. She's raising her own damned self. She's in the corner with a friend who is puking into a waste basket. I gag. Juliet seems relatively sober. She tries to convince Monica to take a cab to the Martins' place. Monica says she can't. She has to get her car back home or her dad will freak. Juliet reasons with her, telling her she's too drunk to drive. She again tries to get Monica to take a cab with her back to Park Ave., and she'll have her dad's driver see Monica home. Monica says her parents will kill her. Juliet acquiesces. "I'll get you home." Bad choice, Jules.

Park Ave: Andrew and Bridget sit back to back in the dressing room, as they get ready for the opening of Gemma's art pavilion. Bridget comments on the tension between them and wonders if Andrew is too upset to attend. When he snaps that he'll be fine, Bridget says, "I didn't tell you about Bridget because I was ashamed, and it sucks to feel that way about your family." Andrew says, "You don't have to be ashamed. It's not like you did those things." No, it's not like it. It is it, love. Bridget goes on about how it's different with twins. She was afraid if she told Andrew the truth, it would change the way he felt about her. Andrew: "Can't you give me a little more credit?" Bridget says she should have and adds, "I'm sorry. I know it's wrong. Sometimes it's easier to lie." When Andrew stiffens up at that, Bridget says, "You know what I mean. Andrew, no one tells the truth 100 percent of the time. Being honest -- it makes you vulnerable, and that's scary. I'm sure there are things you're not 100 percent honest with me about." Andrew: "I'd be lying if I said otherwise." Bridget: "Well, you don't have to. I'll promise you I'll never judge." Andrew: "What? Even if they're awful?" Bridget: "Mmm, yeah."

Andrew admits that he wasn't happy when he found out "Shiv" was pregnant. "We weren't in a good place. We weren't speaking. Barely having sex, anymore." Notice that "were" there. To me, that implies barely no longer sums up their sex life. What do you think?

Andrew continues: "Getting pregnant seemed like a complication." Bridget's eyes scream: "YOU THINK IT'S A COMPLICATION FOR YOU?" Her mouth says nothing, though. Andrew adds that now, it's a blessing. "This baby means everything to me, and that's why the lies hurt. I just don't want...anything to go wrong, ever again, between us." Having just marked the 17th anniversary of my wedding, Andrew, let me tell you that your expectations are laughable. Bridget ignores my counsel and says, "I don't either." Andrew caresses her bare shoulder (she's wearing a gorgeous purple gown that I covet), as Bridget says, "I've lost too much, already. I don't want to lose you, too." They hug. He strokes her face and Bridget is near tears as they kiss. It's soft at first, but quickly heats up. They're interrupted by Andrew's phone. Bridget breaks the kiss and tells him to take it. Andrew: "Hello. [...] Yes, Mr. Carpenter. I know who you are. You're Juliet's English teacher." Yeah, but we know he's really Logan Echolls, just trawling the New York Public schools for a little jailbait to get his mind off Veronica Mars.

City Street, Night: Mr. "Logan" Carpenter is standing in front of quite a few police cars, which makes his inner Logan Echolls feel right at home. He's wearing a hoody. Oh, you want to know what he says. Sorry. "I'm calling about Juliet. [...] She's been in a car accident." Dun dun dun. Commercial.

When we return from the break, there's a graphic on the screen telling me, "It's your money. Don't burn it." I just got a $600.00 oil bill. Burning money might be a more economical way to heat the house, CW. Andrew arrives at the scene of the accident and demands to know where Juliet is. He's in a tizzy as he tells Logan that the cops said the girls had been drinking, and it's a miracle they're unharmed." He wants to know what Logan is even doing there. "No offense, you've been her teacher -- what -- a week?" Logan: "She called me." Andrew looks at him, somewhat alarmed, and yeah, you should be, Andrew, because why the hell does Juliet have her new, young teacher's phone number? Logan explains Juliet said it was an emergency, which still doesn't explain how she has your digits, Logan. You are gonna get yourself in so much trouble. I can't wait!

When Logan leaves, Andrew approaches the girls, who are sitting on a stoop. Juliet runs into her daddy's arms. At first he just hugs her and makes sure she's okay. Once he knows she is, he gently reprimands her for driving, since she only has her learner's permit. My oldest is going to get his in a few months. I can't even... Anyhow, he says, "What were you even doing in the city? I spoke with Mrs. Reynolds and she told me you two would be in Stamford all weekend." And Andrew, did you not make sure that one of the parents would be there? What is wrong with you? Juliet lames: "There was a change in plans. It wasn't a big deal." Andrew reminds her drinking and driving is a very big deal. And Andrew, you're right. In fact, it's a huge deal. But so is your 16 year old telling you she's going to be at a friend's house in CT for the weekend, when she's really going to be partying in New York. You need to put some reins on this child. Juliet is all, "I only had two beers. It's not like I was doing coke." She goes on about how trashed Monica was, but that she needed to get her car home, and yada yada. When Andrew comes back at her, pointing out she almost got the two of them killed, Juliet snits, "This is exactly why I called Mr. C. All you ever do is get pissed off." Oh honey, he doesn't get nearly pissed enough at you. Andrew agrees with me. And? He shuts her off. He's freezing her trust fund. No credit cards. No allowance. "It's the only way to get through to you, Juliet." She's cut off until she gets back on track. Good man, Andrew. But now you actually have to supervise her, like a parent would.

Andrew walks off to talk to Monica's father, so Juliet returns to the stoop where Monica is slumping. Monica: "I'm sorry, Juliet." "You owe me, bitch. Like 10 million dollars." Monica and her messed up makeup are all confused.

Cop Shop: She-Cop tells Guyliner that Missing Persons noticed some activity on Malcolm's ATM card. She shows him video of Malcolm at a Manhattan ATM, just two hours ago. Guyliner laughs. "If he's in New York, that means Bridget Kelly's still here."

Art Pavilion Opening: Tool Belt tells Bridget-as-Shiv that he feels guilty, and says he should have listened to Shiv and made more of an effort with Gemma, adding, "I feel like a douche bag." That's only because you are, TB. Oh, he wasn't done. "I feel like a douche bag for even saying what I'm thinking." Bridget fills in the blanks: "That you didn't know how much you loved her, until you couldn't tell her? Henry, I've asked someone to help. Trust me. It's going to be okay. We're going to find her. We're going to bring her back." Henry wants to go home. Bridget thinks that's a good idea. He should be home with his invisible children. She sees him out. Once Henry gets in the cab, Bridget rubs her head. She turns around and spies Malcolm coming through the crowd. She says his name under her breath. Everything gets fuzzy. Bridget faints, dead away. Commercial.

Paramedics ferry a confused Bridget to the hospital. When Andrew arrives, he sees a still detoxing Malcolm, and thanks him. "The paramedics told me you helped my wife." Malcolm can't meet Andrew's eyes. He shakes his hand and walks off. Inside Bridget's hospital room, Andrew asks how she's feeling. She feels better and asks after Juliet. Andrew: "She home. Grounded. Most likely 'til she's 50." That's the stuff, baby! Just then, two women wheel in an ultrasound. They're going to check on the baby. Bridget tries to get out of it, but Andrew points out that would be insane, since she just sustained a concussion. When he gets all, "This is our baby," Bridget can't really argue. She looks over at the ultrasound monitor, eyes wide with fright.

JFK Long Term Parking: NA Charlie jimmies open the car, and pops open the hatch. When he spots some blood, he makes a phone call. "I found Gemma's car." Sarah Michelle Gellar says, "Was there anything left behind." NA Charlie says, "Just some blood." He wipes at it. We cut to...

Paris: I don't know why I kept up the pretense in the last paragraph. Just in the mood, I guess. Siobhan says, "Her blood?" Back at JFK, NA Charlie says, "No, mine, from when she hit me." NA Charlie says, "Thank Bridget. She's still the only suspect in Gemma's disappearance. They'll never connect it to me." Shiv smiles. "And everyone still thinks Bridge is me?" Charlie: "Don't worry, Siobhan. Gemma never had a chance to tell anyone." Okay, did Shiv have her place in the Hamptons bugged or something? How did she and NA Charlie know that Gemma found out about Bridget? We flashback to...

Gramercy Park West, Night of Gemma's disappearance: NA Charlie grabs Gemma as she's getting something out of the back of her car. She picks up a coffee mug, smashes him in the face, and rushes in her house. Charlie flicks wipes the blood off his face, and shakes his gloved hand. Some of the blood spatters on the back of the car. Still, he is quick enough in following and gets in the Bickerson's place before Gemma can lock him out. Okay, we know Henry was still out that night, but where are the twins and their nanny? When Charlie bursts in, he knocks Gemma to the ground. She slowly tries to crawl away from him. The flashback ends before we see Gemma die on screen, so she's still Schrödinger's Gemma, as far as I'm concerned.

Charlie tells Siobhan to call him with the move. And? Title Card.

This was a nice, twisty episode. I may have enjoyed it more than any episode to date, although it did lack moments like seeing Shiv's portrait decorated with WHORE, or Gemma slapping Bridget-as-Shiv and calling her a whore. I'm really into Bridget's Schrödinger's Pregnancy. At first glance, in this episode, it seems that Bridget slept with Malcolm (albeit nine months ago), and maybe hasn't been sleeping with Andrew. But I have to think there's a reason we never saw Bridget and Malcolm in bed, together, and why the show set that maybe-love scene nine months ago, rather than one month ago. Are we supposed to think they kept accidentally hooking up, or was that a clue that they made a mistake early on in Bridget's recovery, but have behaved themselves ever since? We've seen Tool Belt and Shiv in bed plenty of times. We've even seen Juliet straddling a naked guy early on in the series, so it's not like the show is going to shy away from sex scenes. Also, I can't stop thinking about Andrew's phrasing when he and Bridget-as-Shiv had their heart-to-heart. He says they were barely having sex, back when he found out Shiv was pregnant. Is he differentiating from now, because they're back at it like bunnies? Did Bridget manage to conceive? I need to know these things. God grant me the serenity to... not spoil myself.

I'll be back Wednesday morning, with the recaplet of, "Maybe We Can Get A Dog, Instead." So maybe Bridget won't be pregnant after all. That's probably for the best. Babies aren't generally good news for shows, but this one has wisely made the Bickerson's twins invisible, and I'd sort of love to see Andrew's face, when Bridget hands him an African-American baby, because? CHEESE! This show is so twisty, I don't even feel like I can take that episode name as an indication that Bridget isn't with child. Oh, well. I'll see you week. In the meantime, please grade the episode at the top of the page and then join us in the show thread, where we warm the gel before putting the ultrasound paddle on your tummy.
