Fade up on the high school. We pan over a poster that says "PROM!" on it in big bubble letters. Irv tells us, "There are things that go without saying." Amy and Ephram are walking into school, bitching about how terrible it is that they have to go to prom. Ephram says it's even worse than finals, because at least with exams, there are only two possible outcomes. Irv interrupts here to tell us, "And there are things better left unsaid." Amy brushes up against Bitchy Paige, who fake-apologizes, "Oh, Amy! I'm so bummed! I just realized that when I booked Mr. Hollenbrandt's limo, you and I weren't really..." "Talking," Amy finishes. Paige says some other crap that's supposed to make Amy feel better about not having a ride, then flounces off. Ephram asks Amy if Paige has gotten into her little brother's Ritalin; Amy says something about prom just freaks people out. And here comes Exhibit A: Bright drives up to the school in a gigantic Winnebago. He gives Amy and Ephram a big "Woooo!" from behind the wheel. Hee. Amy remarks, "Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse." Bright steps out of his pimpin' ride, all, "Check it, dudes!" He tells Amy and Ephram that he rented it, and introduces: "For maximum prom enjoyment, ladies and gentlemen, I give you the Promebago." The Promebago is loaded -- DVD, CD, bucket seats, refrigerator -- and Bright insists that Amy and Ephram ride with him to prom. They try to decline, but Bright ain't having it. "Don't give me any of that 'Here's why this is lame.' This is my senior prom, and you two are gonna ride." Ephram and Amy grudgingly nod their consent. Irv starts in again: "There are things that should never be uttered out loud. And there are things you've got to hear to believe." Amy says of the Promebago, "It could be fun under the right circumstances." Ephram: "Sedated?" Irv interrupts, "But the ones that stay with us..." Ephram complains that he's going to have to hire a date. Amy starts, "Well, if you're really worried about it..." Aaand Irv again: "...are the things we long to say...but don't." Did y'all get all that? Amy wants to ask Ephram to prom, but is scared. Whew! Thank God for all that intercut narration, or we wouldn't have known what was going on! Ephram goes off to class, leaving Amy to think about her chickenshittedness alone. Credits.
Diner. Patch and Rinda are eating breakfast together. Rinda tells Patch about the dinner party she's having for all of them. Patch asks what the occasion is, and Rinda says she just wants a good dinner for her family. Uh huh. Treat walks in for coffee, and notices Patch and Rinda. As he starts to walk over, Patch rolls his eyes so hard they fall out of his head and into his coffee. Treat bids them good morning. Patch ignores this. Rinda quietly tells him, "Hey." Aw. Treat tells Rinda she looks good. Patch: "Thank you, Roxanne just cut my hair; we went a little shorter for spring." Hee hee. Treat gives Patch a look, and says he should probably be heading back to his office. Patch: "Yes. Good. Shoo." Rinda says bye, and Patch tells his sister that Treat should be forcibly removed from the town. Rinda says it doesn't matter. She asks Patch if she could stop by the office the day to pack up some of her things. Patch says there's no rush, since their office is already closed. Rinda says she doesn't work there anymore, for one thing. Patch tells her not to let one meeting with Treat tilt her world out of perspective. Rinda gets huffy all, "I'm not a doctor here anymore, I'm not a citizen in good standing anymore, and I'm not dating Andy Brown anymore, so back off and let me pack my shit, BRO."
Cut to Treat's office. Treat asks Edna if she thinks he made a mistake by breaking up with Rinda. Edna tells him that she thinks he should let it be. Treat: "What if I'm wrong?" Edna: "You weren't. I know this because I'm older and smarter than you are. And better-looking." Heh. Treat says he agrees with the last part, but he just misses her. Edna says Rinda doesn't need anymore heartbreak in this lifetime, and to back off. The phone rings. Treat asks Edna to take a message. Edna gets back on the phone for second, then tells Treat that a "Dr. Donald Douglas" wants to speak with him -- now. Treat gets on the phone, and Dr. Douglas tells Treat that he is in Denver for a conference, and wants to drive over to Everwood for a visit. Treat tells him it isn't a good time, but Douglas sort of insists. Treat tells him to come on.
High school. A skinny, dorky guy is talking to Amy: "And, um, I was wondering...if you don't already have a date...which you probably already totally do...if you'd like to go to prom. With me. Go to prom...with me." Hee. Amy tells the poor guy that she already has someone in mind to ask. "Bud" says he understands, but hedges his bets: "If he says no, or gets into an accident, or something?" Amy agrees to this plan, then bangs her head on the lunchroom table when Bud is gone. Bright joins her and teases that she must be too good for all the guys asking her for dates. Amy says that dates with any of those guys just mean a promise that prom will be depressing and long. Amy has on a very cute brown-and-green striped sweater. Bright says he doesn't care who she goes with as long as she hurries up and picks. Amy says Bright'll have an awesome time whether she's there or not, and asks him if he's picked a date yet. Bright says he's gotten it narrowed down to his top six choices. "Today after lunch the girls compete in the final challenge -- tying maraschino cherry stems with their tongues -- and tomorrow we wrap up with the final interview." I'm in love. Amy rolls her eyes and says she's sure all the finalists will appreciate his thoroughness. Bright asks Amy who she's holding out for, anyway(s). Amy gives him a long look. Bright tells her to give it up, because it's not going to end well between her and Ephram. Amy's all, "But I like him!" Ah, sixteen-year-old logic: the most retarded kind. Bright finally tells Amy to just go ahead and ask him. Amy says there's no point in that, because if Ephram wanted to go with her, he would have already asked. Bright disagrees: "You think he's a total glutton for punishment? You rejected the guy like six hundred times last year. He's not going to ask you, even if he were dying to." Amy says she doesn't know. Bright tells his sister that things always come too easy for her, and now she has to work a little.
And who do you think is now knocking at the door of the Brown house? Why, it's Amy Abbott. Ephram answers, surprised. He invites her in and asks what's up. Amy says she was thinking about this whole prom thing, and...Ephram interrupts to tell her that Treat might let him have the car that night, so they can get out of going to prom. Amy says Bright's really into it, so they probably should go. Ephram agrees that it's pretty hopeless. Amy continues her thought: "I was thinking...maybe we could...it wouldn't be hopeless if we just, you know, went together, as friends, or whatever." Nice, Amy. Very convincing. Ephram tells her that he knows what she's doing, and she doesn't have to feel sorry for him that he can't get a date. Amy says it's not like that. Ephram says he knows the entire school has asked her, and as for him, if he can't go with Madison, he'd just as soon go stag anyway. Amy's like, "Yeah. Right." Lord. Say something, girl! But Amy doesn't. She tells Ephram goodnight, leaves, and we go to commercials.
Abbott House. Bright busts in Amy's room all excited that he lined up "Johnny Rickers" to drive the Promebago. Since, you know, he just got his license back three weeks ago. Amy tells Bright about her disastrous time at Ephram's house. Bright can't believe that Amy told him "just as friends," and fusses at her for not being able to follow simple instructions: "Now I know how all my teachers feel." Hee. Amy says it doesn't matter, because Ephram said no. Bright tells her that she has to ask again, the right way.
Amy says no way. Bright insists that she'll ask Ephram again, he'll go, and then he'll see her that night with her hair all up, and "[her] dress all...whatever," and he'll be totally whipped again. Amy says if she asks again, then Ephram will know that she likes him, and she doesn't want him to feel bad for her if he doesn't feel the same way. She tells Bright to just drop it. Chicken.Treat's Office. Dr. Douglas is there, and Treat's showing him around the office. Dr. Douglas tells Treat that he accomplished what he wanted to in Everwood, which was to sweep out his old life and invent a new one. Treat says he isn't so sure about that. Dr. Douglas reminds him of all the things that have happened since the move -- finding new love, leaving neurosurgery, the Colin tragedy -- and Treat says, a bit too defensively, "I didn't do anything wrong with Colin." Douglas is like, "Cool out, tiger, I didn't come here to fight with you." Treat asks Douglas why he came to Everwood, since they both know there was no conference in Denver. Douglas admits there wasn't, but pulls an x-ray out of his briefcase to show Treat why he's really there. Treat takes a look at the film -- as Douglas explains that the patient is a male in his mid-sixties, and in fairly good health otherwise (read: his own self) -- and declares that the patient is pretty much hopeless. Douglas says it's not hopeless for someone like Treat. They argue back and forth about whether the surgery is too dangerous to be worth performing, and Treat's final analysis is that it's too risky, and he'd probably do more damage than good. Douglas demurs, saying he promised the "patient" that he'd at least try. Treat tells Douglas that he's just going to have to dig a little bit deeper with this one. Douglas says he should get going, but still has time to beat Treat in a few games of chess. Treat grins.
Cut to Bright's final prom date interviews. A cute blonde girl is just finishing up: "...Which is why I would make an incredible prom date!" Heh. Bright tells "Nicky" that she was amazing, and he never knew that about her and her brothers raising rabbits to cover his medical costs. Nicky says, "Thank you. We also raised lambs!" Bright tells the four girls that it's time for the totals: Nicky has sixteen points, as do Mindy, and Susie, and Cheryl. Bright announces that it's a four-way tie, and they all win. The girls look at each other and cheer. Hee. Amy and Ephram, sitting close by, look on incredulously. Ephram asks Amy how Bright does it. With style, my friend. Amy says acting like a moron comes naturally to Bright. Ephram wants to know why all those girls would settle for just one date. Amy, with a purposeful look at Ephram, says maybe Bright's the only one they want to go with. Ephram: "That's what blond hair and a physique will get you. I got five girls competing not to go with me." Bright comes over to tell them about his four-way tie. He says he couldn't let all the ladies down, but now that he has three extra dates, there are only two seats left in the Promebago. He tells them, "I'm sorry, but...you guys have to go together." Ephram says it's all the same to him, he and Amy could sit to each other, or they could sit to each other. He tells her that he could get her a corsage if she wants. Amy, delighted out of her mind but trying not to show it, says, "Yeah, sure." Aw. The bell rings, and as Ephram is leaving, he asks Amy what color. Light pink is her sort of awful choice. After Ephram is gone, Bright asks his sister, "So did I style you, or what?" Amy agrees that Bright did indeed style her. Bright tells Amy that now her part is to tell Ephram how she feels, at prom. Amy smiles at her totally awesome brother.
Dinner at Rinda's. Edna and Irv are there, along with the Abbotts and their children. Irv remarks that all the food Rinda has made looks too pretty to eat. Rinda tells him that he should taste it first, as he might be better off just looking at it. Edna beams, "This was such a good idea! Whatever inspired you?" Rinda starts to talk, but Patch interrupts, "Yes, why don't you tell them what the occasion is?" Rinda says there's no occasion. Patch begs to diffah. He says accusingly, "No occasion at all? Not, for instance, a bon voyage party?" Everyone starts to look very uncomfortable in preparation for Mount Saint Patch's eruption. Amy asks Rinda where she's going. Rinda says she isn't going anywhere. Patch says that Doctors Without Borders sure does seem to think she'll be in Namibia soon. Irv opts for levity: "I hear Namibia has some very interesting indigenous art." The table waits for Rinda to defend herself. She says she's not going to Namibia; she's thinking of going to Namibia. Quite a contrast, there, Rin. Edna asks Rinda what this is all about. Rinda says she was talking to an old supervisor, and he mentioned that there was a clinic in Namibia that needed support, and... Patch interrupts, "'So, I thought, why don't I just volunteer. Why don't I, a woman with a chronic illness and a family that depends on me, just up and go back to Africa, where I can deteriorate and be far away from all the people who love me?' Good thinking!" Rinda says she has to have a job, and a life. Patch says he's sorry that they're all so boring and uninteresting to her. Cram it with walnuts, Patch. Rinda says she hasn't decided anything, and it's been a really rough couple of weeks, and some slack, please? Patch says it's been hard for him too, but he never considered abandoning her to get his practice back. He gets up from the table, raving the whole time about Rinda's disloyalty and lack of consideration. "Just run, like you always do. I never thought you'd stay anyway." Ouch. Rinda's backside must be bleeding from the giant strip Patch just ripped off her.
Cut to the Browns, where Treat is just telling Douglas that he never thought he'd stay this long. Douglas says he'll have a proper visit time. He tells Delia that it's been a pleasure, and asks her to say hello to Ephram. Delia: "You could leave him a note." Heh. Douglas says he'd rather Delia told him. Delia says she will. Douglas turns to Treat and thanks him for everything. Treat says Douglas is very gracious in defeat, in chess and other things. Douglas agrees that he certainly is, and respects the decision that Treat made. Treat says he's sure they'll live to argue another day, wink wink, nudge nudge. He asks Douglas where his briefcase is. Douglas thinks it's in the kitchen, and goes off to get it, where soon, we'll hear a loud crash as he collapses. [beat...crash] Man, am I psychic, or have I just watched the episode already? You decide. Treat and Delia run into the kitchen, where Douglas is all passed out on the floor. Treat tells Delia to dial 911. Delia asks what about Uncle Donald. Treat tells her that he's very sick. He sure is, with a brain tumor. Treat tells the person on the other end of the phone that he needs an ambulance right away. Promebago. Two of Bright's dates (who all look pretty hot, by the way) bicker about their seating arrangement. The other two, one on either side of Bright, smirk gleefully. Amy and Ephram sit across from each other and look miserable. Bright tells their driver to pull into a convenience store. Ephram and Amy jump at the chance to escape the estrogen war that's surging all around them, and offer to go in for drinks and snacks. I would like to pause her and tell you all that Emily VanCamp looks absolutely devastating in her prom outfit. My husband disagrees with me about her extreme hotness, which is fine with me, because that just means that I get more time to make out with her when Everwood films on location in my bed. Anyway. d pashmina thrown once over her shoulder like a winter scarf. Most excellent. Ephram remarks that one of Bright's dates is exactly like Jerri from Survivor. Amy: "That's Cheryl. She's pure evil; I saw her steal Nicky's lipstick and replace it with an uglier one." Ephram says that's really low. Heh. Inside the store, Amy tells Ephram that she's on snack patrol, and he's on drinks. They separate, and Ephram heads over to the drink freezers. As he shuts the door, he hears, "Ephram?" Oh, shit. It's Madison, in all her college-girl glory. Ephram stutters, "M-madison. What are you doing here?" Madison says she's just getting some snacks and studying for finals. Ephram says nothing, as he is rendered speechless with fear and horror. Madison notes Ephram's very fabulous suit and says, "So. Prom?" Ephram is like, "Yeah, you know. Whatever." He shows Madison the Promebago, and says it's the kind of thing that will be great when he's thirty-five, but now it's just horrifying. Madison asks him if he brought a date, and this is when Amy appears from around the corner. Amy stops short when she sees Madison, and the college girl offers gracefully, "Hey Amy. You look beautiful." Amy says thanks, and tries to rush off to pay. Ephram says he'll get it, and Madison says she has to go. Ephram tries to tell her to wait, and it's all very awkward. Amy runs off as fast as her heels will carry her. Madison and Ephram stare at each other for a while, and finally Madison tells Ephram that she'll see him later. Ephram's like, "Fuck. Can't a guy get a break, like, EVER?"Treat enters Douglas's hospital room. He tells Douglas he looks good. Douglas: "Well, it's hard to look worse than prone." Heh. Treat asks Douglas how long he's known. Douglas says the first time, when he dropped a cup, he just wrote it off to being clumsy; the second time, he knew it was something. It took him over a month to go in, but there it was. "My old friend, meningioma, come home to roost." Thank you, Google, for helping me spell "brain tumor." Treat asks Douglas why he didn't tell the truth. Douglas wanted Treat to consider the case on its merits. Treat: "Your case has no merits. Any surgeon good enough to perform this operation would be smart enough to know that he shouldn't. Except me." Douglas tells Treat no way, since when he thought it was an anonymous patient, he said no. Treat is too stubborn for this, as we all know. He tells Douglas that he's doing the surgery, and to shut up about it. Douglas tries to resist, but Treat is too bull-headed for the likes of him and his brain tumor. Treat will be doing the surgery, but there better not be a goddamn cliffhanger over it this time. BERLANTI.
Cut to the P-R-O-M. Bright dances with one of his many dates, while all the other ones try to cut in. Ephram and Amy sit together at a confetti-strewn table. Amy asks Ephram if he wants to talk about it. "Talk about what? How the lamest, suckiest high school event in the world was actually made worse by running into my ex-girlfriend?" Amy's like, "Yeah. That." A girl on the stage interrupts them to announce, "Peak County High School graduating class! Welcome your Prom Court!" Prom Queen goes to Nicky. As she accepts her crown, Bright's other dates are all, "Bitch!" and "I hate her!" The announcer then calls up the Prom King, who is none other than...wait for it...Bright Abbott! Bright does the Tiger Woods "I just won the Masters, bitches!" fist pump, and goes up to accept his very gay crown. As Bright shoves Nicky out of the way for his speech, Ephram remarks to Amy, "At least somebody's having a good time." Amy says, "Yeah, such a good time that he wouldn't realize that his peeps are gone?" Ooh, sneaky. Ephram is totally into it.
Rinda's house. Edna tells Rinda that she's not trying to talk her out of anything. Rinda maintains that she hasn't made a decision yet. She says this as she packs all her shit into boxes. Super-reassuring. Edna: "Yes you have. I just want to know why." She tells Rinda that it's all right if she just needs a new adventure, but for the first time, she wonders if Rinda is running from something rather than to something. Rinda says it's partly about Treat; it's hard to be around him and not with him, and she just feels alone. Edna insists that she has her family. Rinda says it just feels that way. Edna says that knowing her own inclination for running all the time, sometimes it takes forcing to set down roots. Rinda says she tried to set down roots and they all got dug up. Rinda, stick to medicine and not metaphors from now on, okay? Edna tells Rinda to just do this for her: don't go without making it right with Patch. Rinda says he's never going to understand; he's stubborn, thick-headed, relentlessly unforgiving, and just plain mean sometimes. Sounds like someone I know, whose name rhymes with "Baby Plow." Edna says, "And he's lost without you." Aw.
Cut back to Amy and Ephram, who are now chilling in the Promebago as the driver snores loudly. Amy says she's sorry that Ephram's night has sucked so much. Ephram says it's fine -- there wasn't much humiliation left for him. Amy asks Ephram if he really loved Madison. Ephram: "Remember last year when I was totally into you? I never felt that way before. I thought that that meant something...but to have someone feel that way back...it was just more. Not to mention the whole..." Amy supplies, "Sex, right?" Ephram blushes as Amy grins like the cat who caught a canary. Ephram says it just changes things, like with her and Colin. Amy admits that she and Colin never did it. Ephram says he knows Amy loved Colin, though. Amy says she certainly did, a lot, but things always get better. Ephram says it's like when his mom died (wah!); it changes you, because once you've felt that way about someone, and they about you, then it ends -- you're more alone than you were before you met them. Amy hints, "Maybe someone will come along and you won't feel that way anymore." Ephram says he guesses. Come on, Amy. Spill it. Well, she tries: "You know what we were talking about earlier? I did love Colin, and so I couldn't feel that way about you...but it doesn't mean that I wouldn't have." Ephram doesn't get it: "Yeah, now I couldn't feel that way about whoever...even though it's over, it doesn't mean that I'm not in love with her anymore." Well, this just about shuts Amy completely down. Quit talking, Brown! Let her get a damn word out. Too late; commercials.
We come back to Patch's office. He's making Louise catalog all the patient files by type of visit. Slave driver. Louise doesn't understand how doing all this work is going to help. Patch doesn't either, but he doesn't admit this to Louise, telling her that now they can compare ailments, results, and medications, as well as "do longitudinal studies of various ailments that present seasonally." Basically, busywork while they're closed. Rinda interrupts this most enlightening labor to talk to her brother. Patch tries to ignore her. Rinda tells Patch she needs him to know that it's not that she wants to go. Patch replies with enough sarcasm to sink a ship (made of a material that cannot withstand sarcasm, obviously), "Of course. It's just the wanderlust is too powerful for you." Rinda says she wants to stay, and be there for every little thing that happens in their lives, but she can't be the spinster aunt; she has to have something of her own to go home to. "But," Rinda says, "I came here to tell you that I will stay if you need me to." Patch rolls his eyes like this hasn't touched him. Rinda says she means it, and she wants to do what's right. "I can't really see straight right now, so I'm asking you, as my big brother, what I should do." Aw. Patch smiles at her and says, "Go. Go with my blessing. Do what you need to do, and find peace wherever it may be for you. I know you're not leaving us." Rinda collapses into Patch's arms and thanks him. Sniff. Shut it.
Over at the Abbott house, Rose tells Bright over

breakfast that he needs to return the Promebago before the neighbors call the police. Bright says he's on it. After Rose leaves, Amy asks Bright if Nicky is going to be okay. Bright: "Mmm hmm. It was just a scratch, but Susie lost a clump of hair, man, I can't believe how those girls can fight." Hee. Amy giggles, too. She asks Bright if it was really the best night of his life. Bright says it was the best, and he doesn't think he'll ever have that much fun again. Amy asks, "What about when you get married and have kids?" Bright says not like that; like young, stupid fun. Amen, Hotness. He tells Amy to spill it about her and Ephram. Amy says they talked, but Ephram wasn't into it. Bright: "He's not into it? He said that?" Amy, lying through her very white teeth: "Pretty much." Bright can't believe it. He tells Amy he's sorry, but at least this way they can all still be friends. As Bright gets up to leave, Amy tells him that he can't talk to Ephram about what happened. Bright says he can keep his mouth shut; he didn't tell Ephram about Nicky when he said he wouldn't. Amy: "Nicky? I thought you'd end up with Cheryl!" Bright: "Heh heh." Hee hee.Cut to Treat, on the phone with the hospital. He's booking an OR for Douglas. Ephram comes in and asks, "Is that about Uncle Donald?" Treat says yes, the Denver hospital will get them in soon. Ephram asks if there's a law against operating on someone who's "like, family." Treat says he can't operate on someone related to him, like Ephram or Delia, but in a perfect world, Uncle Donald could get an equally decent surgeon who he didn't have a personal relationship with. Ephram: "If he doesn't do it, will he die?" Treat: "Possibly. Probably." Oops. Don't mess up, Treat.
Someone knocks on the Brown door. It's Patch. He hands Treat a train schedule and says, "I want you to know, this should in no way be construed as a gesture of friendship. Rather, a moral imperative." Aw, it's so cute when Patch finds his conscience and his heart. Treat says he doesn't know what Patch is talking about. Patch: "You're a bright man, at least by reputation. Figure it out." Treat is befuddled, as usual, but we all know he'll be there at the train station when Rinda departs.
Bright and Ephram return the Promebago. As they walk back to Ephram's car, Bright says he could never rent the Promebago again, because it would never be the same, like Cinderella's carriage. Ephram likens the entire prom to a big orange vegetable that you couldn't pay him to eat. Heh. Bright asks Ephram if he didn't have fun with the girl he's always wanted to go out with. Ephram: "Used to want to go out with." Bright says he kind of told Amy that he wouldn't talk to Ephram about this, but..."I think you've got bad relationship karma. First, you fall for a girl whose boyfriend's in a coma, then you go for a girl who's twenty...now Amy's got this total thing for you, and she tells you about it...what exactly did you tell my sister anyway?" Ephram looks like he got knocked retarded. He regains his composure slightly, and says to Bright, "I...I told her it was bad timing." Nice save, Brown. Bright says he thought so, and not to tell Amy that they talked, because she'd kill him. Ephram's like, "Uh. Duh. Uh huh huh huh. Drool."
Cut to the train station. Edna gets all sentimental and weepy this time about Rinda leaving. Irv hugs Rinda and tells them to have a minute alone. Edna asks Rinda if she's coming back for a visit in the summer. Rinda says she doesn't know, but definitely for Thanksgiving. Yay, guest appearance! I'm-a hold you to that, Berlanti. Edna tells Rinda not to forget, when she's far away and leaving is inconvenient, how much it means to them to have her come back. Rinda says she won't. Edna: "Of course, you'll have a postcard from me every day reminding you." Rinda picks up her enormous backpack, and Edna helps her on with it. She tells her daughter, "Leave now before I start blubbering." They hug. There are tears. It is sad. I cry a little bit. For any of you wondering, your recapper is WEAK.
Rinda walks into the station, looks at the schedule, and turns around to find Treat waiting for her. Rinda's like, "How? Did my mom tell you?" Treat says it was Patch. Rinda says she's sorry she didn't tell him she was leaving, but she didn't know how. Treat says he would have asked her to stay anyway. Aw. Rinda says if he had, she might have. Treat looks deep into Rinda's...hair? And tells her, "You are one of the most amazing things that has ever happened to me. You gave me my life back." Rinda says, "You already had a life." Treat tells her that she gave him "living" back; he was just surviving, and now he wakes up every morning wondering if he made the wrong choice. Rinda says he made the right one. They both get all teary, and Treat tells Rinda to stay safe, and healthy. Rinda nods. They hug, and Rinda tells Treat to go, because if he stays and watches her leave, she'll fall apart. Treat does. Rinda walks over to a bench to wait, sits down, and falls apart anyway. Fade to sadness.
