Sherri Baby

KISS opens the show with "Lick It Up." Did they film this last night, or did they really have nothing better to do for two nights that be on this show? That seems like an awful lot of effort for a few minutes of screen time. We do see the judges dancing around in different outfits, but they could have changed yesterday and still taped it. The pros come out and perform along with the band. It's forgettable and certainly not as entertaining as last night's stripper performance.

Tom welcomes us to the live show, and KISS is behind him, so I suppose it is happening tonight. They really are that desperate to plug their tour. And Dancing with the Stars is just happy to keep up with the whole Rock gimmick.

We see footage of Gavin from last night, with Karina shouting directions at him the whole time. Gavin tells Karina that he's proud they did this ambitious routine, and Carrie Ann gives Bruno flak for being the one with the low score. Shortly after Maks fell on his ass, he apologized to Melissa, and she tells him that she got hit in the head by his leg during the whole kerfuffle. She's rushed downstairs, put on oxygen and lays down under the watchful eye of Gene Simmons and some medical professionals. It's the strangest image I've seen in a while.

Back to tonight, we find out that Melissa's got a concussion and isn't coming out for the reveal. Maria is the freaking walking wounded and she still danced last night, but Melissa can't come out and stand on stage for two minutes? Wuss. We also learn that Maks injured his arm (but he brushes it off). Maks credits Gavin for grabbing Melissa and carrying her down the stairs. Maks says that a very sedated Melissa is just hoping to continue. Melissa and Maks are safe, and Maks is still wearing those too tight pants (not that I'm complaining). Gavin and Karina are also safe. Gavin looks like his hat might pop off he's so excited. Tom promises more big surprises, and the "shock of the season"... all of four weeks in.

Len picks Donald and Peta for the first encore of the season. I forgot about this extra added unnecessary padding. It seems that Peta looks even more like Lacey tonight with all of heavy makeup and her ultra blonde hair. I almost always have to do a double take when I see her. I think Peta's a better choreographer though, so I'm happy that Lacey is off doing whatever that weird stage show thing she's busying herself with. Tom says that they are two people with a total of three percent body fat. That's a big juxtaposition to The Biggest Loser that I just watched before this. I don't imagine that Donald or Peta eat many cheeseburgers bathed in mayonnaise with a peanut butter chaser.

Brooke is upstairs with the possible eliminees. Maria, Jaleel and Gladys making some inane chatter about... nothing at all that amounts to much of anything. Maria does her grating laugh that makes me want to punch the TV, as she's asked what she might take off for week's "steamy Latin" round. "Derek's pants" seems to be the prevailing answer. Jaleel in turn promises nudity if he makes it through. (Please, I beg of you, no.) Tom gets in a quick zinger: "I bet if you hear that laugh of Maria's enough, the pants go right back on." This show would be tedious without him.

In the rehash/backstage footage from last night, Maria is pissed she missed a step (but the judges didn't notice). Gladys Knight got up close and personal with Gene Simmons' infamous tongue. Jaleel was goofy with some smoke, and kept spinning longer than planned. Then he does his panther to the poor camera man. Kym looks over it. I love her. Results time. Maria and Derek are coming back. What can she break this week? Funny bone? Jaleel and Kym are safe, but slow on the uptake. Gladys and Tristan... are also safe. This does not bode well for Sherri.

There's a clip package, where all of the pros talk about what they really want in a partner. They are all a little freaked out about the high level of dancing talent this season and the high scores so early on.

Brooke's got Donald and Roshon upstairs in the skybox, asking if they are happy about scoring high. No one feels really safe, but they were great to get their big scores. Chelsie feels hopeful about their chances. Donald is just nervous.

Tom plugs the stupid Design a Dance. Before Karina and Jose Manuel Carreno do an argentine tango with the Gotan Project performing behind them. It's pretty hot, with a lot of great lifts.

James Van Der Beek is hanging out in the audience to promo Don't Trust the B----. What I wouldn't give to watch Dawson compete on this show. A foxtrot to Paula Cole's "I Don't Want to Wait." Him crying in the most unfortunate way every time something emotionally touched him. Karina having to put on a costume like a whipped cream bikini for movie theme song night. Oh man, it could be really good.

But back to reality. We see backstage last night that Donald got applause from KISS for his high scores. Roshon was so happy about his compliment from Len, and now wants to text with him. Let's not push it, Roshon. Len obviously doesn't know what text messaging is. Tom tells us one couple's safe, one is in the bottom two. No shocker that Roshon is in the bottom. Donald nearly passes out in relief that he's safe.

We see more footage from the Vegas show. Carson is the host of this, and looks pretty great in a showgirl headdress. Joey Fatone is in the audience, but isn't dancing because of some bullshit excuse about being busy. Like anyone's buying that.

Back from the commercial, the cast of Dancing With the Stars: Live in Las Vegas is on stage, showing off what they'll be doing. Lots of jumps and backflips, apparently. Speaking of Lacey, she's there, but is back to the dark hair. Sabrina Bryand and Kyle Massey seem to be the biggest "celebrities" here. Otherwise it is a lot of professional dancers (including Dmitry), and Joey Fatone when he isn't too "busy."

More backstage footage from last night, Val had to give Sherri a pep talk halfway through her dance. But she's hoping she's there. Len gets a hug from Cheryl before she goes on to dance. Cheryl says that everything went wrong, and she looks really sad. Katherine and Mark got lost on their way to the stage. How long has Mark been doing this now? Katherine is safe, and she freaks the hell out and hits an operatic note in celebration. William and Sherri have to wait until after the break to find out who is in the bottom two. Unsurprisingly, it's Sherri. William's got a crazy enthusiastic fan base behind him.

It's time for eliminations, so I guess the dance-off business between the bottom two is Kim's problem, as it starts week. But still, why do they make them walk up and down so many stairs on this show? Is there not enough square footage to just shoot on one level? Tom talks to the couples, but walks off when Sherri starts getting emotional. Roshon thought he was safe, but he was wrong. Len says he's surprised by these results, but doesn't say who he'd have put there instead. Sherri and Val are eliminated. She's immediately crying, and ignores Brooke who wants to talk to her. Finally she gets it together and says thank you to the show for letting her live out her dream, and credits Val for being an amazing partner. Val apologizes for letting her down. It's almost touching... as far as these eliminations go.
