Tom announces that there will be two eliminations tonight, as well as a performance by the Jonas Brothers. Is there a lot of crossover between the tweens and the DWTS audience? Maybe not, which is why the Jonas Brothers are on. Although I think I would have been all over this show as an 11-year-old. I would have really liked Derek, I think. Now I find him kind of annoying.
Samantha and Tom remind us that it's a double elimination, and Tom adds that the first couple will be eliminated momentarily. Despite the fact that they just aired a recap episode, we get a full recap of last night's episode. The standard "I just recapped this last night so I'm not doing it again" disclaimer applies. In one confessional, Kym points out that Penn's feet are bigger than her head. I don't really get why that means he can't dance on the balls of his feet. I can see why he can't move them quickly, but not why he's so flat-footed. Christian is sweating BUCKETS in his confessional. It's kind of unseemly. Tom reminds us (again) that tonight, for two couples, the FUN! MUST! END! They will never have fun again! The laughter will die.
Tom asks Len which dance he wants to see again, and Len says while they weren't the top-scoring couple, they want to see Jason and Edyta again. Interesting that they didn't pick Kristi - I guess they know they'll be able to pick her many times in weeks to come. They look just as good, if not better, than they did last night. Edyta's face looks weird though. Did she have something done?
It's time to find out the first male contestant to move on to week. It is...Steve and Anna. Even Tom is surprised! Good for them. I think Steve would have had a nervous breakdown if he were eliminated.
The Jonas Brothers perform "Take On Me" as Tony and Edyta and Jonathan and Anna dance. I'm a little confused as to why the Jonas Brothers (and there were three of them) have two additional guitarists in their band, for a total of four. Granted, at least one of them is probably a bass player, but still. I get the vibe that the Brothers themselves don't so much play the guitar that well. At least we get to see an energetic jive with lots of lifts during the performance. It must be such a relief for the pros to dance with other pros once in a while.
Backstage, Steve is thrilled to be safe. He promises to work on everything the judges said. Adam makes a crack about one of the Jonas Brothers having bushier eyebrows than him, which cracked me up.
Now it's time to find out two more of the safe male couples. And they are...Jason and Edyta! Also safe...Mario and Karina! No big shocker there. Christian looks like he's about to throw up. Samantha introduces a clip package about how no one wants to go home first. Did you know no one wants to go home first? And that it could be anyone? Then you've pretty much seen this clip package.
Now we finally get to find out one more safe couple. And it's...Adam and Julianne! Yaaay! I just didn't want him to go out first. I'm fine with him going week. As I'm sure he will.
Tom asks the judges what they think of the two remaining men. Len says that Christian has a lot of room for improvement, but he's confident that Christian can do it. Carrie Ann says that Penn brings a lot of entertainment to the dance floor. Bruno admits that they all love Penn, but Christian is the better dancer and should probably stay. Tom prepares to announce who is going home first and it is...Penn and Kym. That's about right. Christian looks incredibly relieved. Teller might cry in the audience. In his exit interview, Penn says that he'll be dancing in the parking lot week and he plans to keep going with it. I can't say I'll miss the big galoot, but I didn't much like him going in, so there's that.
Now we get to move on to the female contestants and find out one couple that is safe. And it's...Shannon and Derek. Shannon is thrilled. I think she's going to be a fun contestant to watch because she'll really improve over the course of the show.
Cameron Mathison went out on the streets of New York to see what the hoi polloi had to say about the contestants. Cameron is still wearing his Superman costume, which is super corny. One lady loves Priscilla representing the senior citizens, and even busts some moves in appreciation. She's pretty good! The rest is vaguely amusing, but filler for sure.
Then there's a performance by aerial dancers, very Cirque du Soleil, but not that easy to describe in words. You kind of have to see it.
The Jonas Brothers return to perform their hit while Louis and Cheryl dance. The young girls in the audience go crazy. Wow, the singer really does have enormous eyebrows.
Backstage, Samantha interviews Shannon who says she was happier with her second dance, and thought the scoring was fair. Derek hopes it boosted her confidence. Derek's one of those guys who says "girl" a lot, which I find kind of offputting. Adam cracks wise about how the Houghs should be taken to a lab and cloned. He's funny.

Guess who else is safe? Marlee and Fabian. And you know who else? Kristi and Mark. They had to say that one because, seriously.
After the break, three couples remain: Monica and Jonathan, Marissa and Tony, and Priscilla and Louis. So who else is safe? Priscilla and Louis. I'm a little nervous as to what Marissa will do if she's eliminated. She might go psycho. Or more psycho.
Tom asks the judges which couple should stay. Carrie Ann thinks that Monica has a never-quit and inspirational attitude, and she would miss it if Monica leaves. Tom asks Len what Marissa can do if she stays. Len thinks that Marissa has the performance side down and now just needs to work on the technique. Who does Bruno think should stay? He thinks it's been a privilege to have Monica on their stage, even though she's not a performer. Tom interrupts him to get to the elimination. Monica always looks like she's pouting, but I think that's just her face. And going home will be...Monica and Jonathan. Poor Jonathan. Saddled with crazy Marie last season, and now this. Monica says that she loves dance now, and Tom tells her that she was beautiful out there. They join Penn and Kym for their final dance to "the First Cut is the Deepest". week: tango and jive! See you then!
