It's go-see time! The girls head to PT Models Shanghai, which is potentially located in a Motel 6, where they get their instructions, along with a driver and a translator. Heather is nervous, noting that she has a tendency to have "a little problem with first impressions." And also a tendency toward understatement. Though their translators help with directions, once the girls step out of the cab, they're on their own. You would think that being dropped off outside of the building where they must go would lead to a high success rate, but then you wouldn't be forgetting that Heather is still in the competition. She wanders around for a long time before actually making it to her first go-see, and once she's there, the designer calls for eye contact. Bad times. She then ends up actually losing her driver and is pretty much a hopeless case. Saleisha and Bianca overlap on a go-see, and Saleisha deviously pleads ignorance when Bianca asks about the location of another designer that Saleisha has already seen. Turns out the designer is just a few floors up in the same building, and Saleisha's bitchery is duly noted. Jenah, who is getting pissed about her perceived lack of personality, thinks she's the best model ever, no matter what anyone else, including designers, tell her. Chantal learns an important lesson about underwear, and she, Jenah, and Heather learn that Shanghai traffic can be a bitch. They are disqualified for being late, which leaves Saleisha and Bianca as the only two challenge contenders. Delightfully, it's Bianca who wins and sees her face on a boat billboard for the Beijing Olympics. The photo shoot for the week has the girls struggling to stand out amidst a busy backdrop. The fact that Nigel is the photographer doesn't make things any easier, particularly for Jenah, whose sarcastic attempts at humor irk everyone, including Mr. Barker himself. She gets a bit of abuse for her arrogance and lack of charm at panel, where she lands in the bottom two with Heather. In a real shocker, Jenah gets the photo and Heather gets the Asperboot. Ultimately, I think it's a cruel-to-be-kind sort of deal, but watching her hunch like Lurch out of the door of the Shanghai penthouse is still pretty sad.
Previously on ANTM: The girls took Shanghai by storm! Shanghai! China! Ni-hao! Eggrolls! Bianca developed a sudden fear of heights when the girls faced a martial arts challenge, and Heather and Lisa stunk up their Cover Girl commercial shoots so much that one might think they were promoting shimmery shiny dog poo. Lisa was sent back to foster care, and five bitches remain.
We begin with Heather reliving how terribly she did in her Cover Girl commercial. She notes that she had to have her lines read to her. Bianca tells her not to sweat it, but Heather says that Jay thought she had an advantage. Cut to an interview with Chantal, in which she said that Lisa should not have gone home. And I thought everyone hated Lisa! The Heather backlash must be stronger than I had previously imagined. Chantal says that if she had had lines fed to her, it probably wouldn't have been acceptable. Eh. Don't they do that every year with the people who really suck? Heather interviews that her Asperger's does affect the way she pays attention and reacts around people. She adds with frustration that she was trying so hard.
Jenah says to some of the others that she doesn't feel like this is a modeling competition anymore -- it's a personality competition, and that pisses her off. Okay, it took her nine seasons and ten weeks to figure that out? With all the focus on Heather's disability, no one realized that Jenah suffers from dumb-assbergers. Primary symptoms include large, protruding teeth and delusional tendencies. The latter comes into play as Jenah says that she's killing it. In an interview, Jenah defends her personality, which was attacked by the judges last week. She says that she's cynical and sarcastic, and just because she's not a bubbly asshat like Saleisha, it doesn't mean that she doesn't have a personality. We see Saleisha jumping up and down on the bed, squealing and going, "OhmygoshohmygoshohmyGOSH!" Okay, Jenah has a point.
Tyra Mail! "Tomorrow it will time to 'zou' and 'jian.' Love, Tyra." That would mean they'll be going and seeing, of course. Saleisha interviews, "Go-sees! Go-sees!" She for sure has some sort of disability, too, and in fact maybe won the shotput competition in the Special Olympics. She's got the hair for it, after all. Not that that, the T-Zone Camp connection, or the fact that she modeled on Tyra's talk show gives her an advantage at all. Anyhoo, the girls head to PT Models, where they meet the agency's managing director, Susan Yang, and Shan Ji Ya, one of the agency's successful models. Susan explains to the girls that a go-see is a meeting with a client, wherein the client decides whether to book you for a job. Saleisha preemptively calls this the best challenge ever. Susan says that in Shanghai, they're looking for girls with a good face, but also a good personality. Cut to Heather interviewing, "Honestly I don't know how I'm going to do. I do have a tendency of having a little problem with first impressions." Another symptom of Asperger's is apparently a wild predilection for understatement. The girls will visit five of the top Shanghai fashion designers, and the model who impresses the most designers will win the challenge. Susan says that Tyra has prepared the girls' portfolios for them. Yeah, I'm sure she was up all night rubber-cementing the photos, rather than browbeating a local restaurateur into renaming his special dish "Ty-Ty Beef" in her honor. Each girl will get a car to take them to the designers' whereabouts, as well as a translator. Susan tells them to be back by 6:00 PM, and adds the warning, "Don't be late." Shan Ji Ya gives a little bit of generic advice. I think she's just there to prove that there are some tall people in China.
The girls hop into their cabs with six hours to go. Bianca tells us that the go-see challenge is a really important one, because if you win, Tyra sees that you can make it. Saleisha says that they have maps and addresses, and the cab will drop them off in the area of the designer, but once you step out of the cab, it's up to you to find the precise location. Saleisha exits her cab in the pouring rain and makes her way up to the studio of designer Lu Kun. He asks her if she likes sexy clothes, and she tells him she likes jeans and t-shirts. Lu thinks that Saleisha is a very pretty girl, but that, "She's just so...dull." HA! I love that guy. We then cut to Heather, who reiterates that once you exit the cab, you're on your own in terms of finding the designer. I mean, they have to be, like, a block away at most, right? No matter, though. Heather gets lost. Uh-oh. Chantal sees Lu Kun and tells us that he put her in a sheer dress. This is problematic, because Chantal is not wearing nude underwear, and she knows she's supposed to be. She has bright pink underwear with black lace. Lu Kun was so distracted, she said, that he didn't care about her walk. If ever there were a right time to go commando, this is it. Though maybe blonde puss would have been more distracting even than the underwear? Lu Kun admonishes her and sends her on her way.
Bianca sees the designers at the House of Mercury, one of whom is apparently named "Designer." Designer says she looks edgier with her short hair, and that she prefers it. She asks if Bianca prefers runway work or print, and Bianca answers that she loves to walk. Designer Stephen Peng was very impressed, because Bianca was tall and friendly and had character. It is true that, despite how stank she is, or maybe because of how stank she is, Bianca is the remaining contestant that I think I'd most enjoy hanging out with. Unless she were verbally berating me. Chantal sees designer Flora Zeta , who outfits her in a pregnant elf's party frock. Flora says she'd book Chantal for print work, but not catwalk -- at least not yet.
Meanwhile, Heather has been wandering for about a half-hour. She interviews that you'd think it would be easy since they have maps, but the maps are in Chinese. "It's all Greek to me," she adds. Oh, now Heather's caught the dumb-assberger's, too. As if she didn't have enough problems. Jenah makes it to Lu Kun. She says that designers are looking for personality, but her outlook is, like, "Whatever." As long as they knows she's a good model, she says, she doesn't really care. That is possibly the sign of a personality-deficient being, right there. Lu Kun tells Jenah that she looks like Christy Turlington. If Christy Turlington had a spawn-producing threesome with Howdy Doody and Shelley Duvall, then gave birth in a pool of bleach, maybe. That is an insult to everyone in the "Freedom 90" video, and I won't stand for it. Jenah says, "I'm a great model." Easy there, Mickey Rooney.
We get a tally of go-sees so far. Jenah, Bianca and Saleisha each have two, while Chantal has three. And what of Heather, you ask? Yep, still wandering. She knows that Tyra is going to be pissed. A gong dramatically underscores Heather's "Go-sees: 0" tally as we head to commercials.
When we return, the girls have three and a half hours to go. Saleisha sees designer Helen Lee and gushes about the gown she's wearing. Helen says she'd book Saleisha for her show. Heather, meanwhile, is still wandering around. But then, hallelujah! She manages to find the building. She sees designer Flora Zeta. Flora tells Heather that it's very important that she have good eye contact. Oh, come on now, that is so set up. She might as well have said, "I like it best when models don't get all autistic-y on me." Heather interviews that she feels embarrassed even talking to the designer. Heather walks and, well, she looks like she's emerging from the bell tower again. Flora loves Heather's look, but says she has to work on her catwalk. As it turns out, Flora doesn't really like anyone's walk, and tells Jenah that she was terrible. And why? Because she just attacked it like a model. Better than attacking it like a rabid bear, I always like to say. Flora needs her buyers to connect with the model and the garment and how she feels about it. If Chantal is utilizing her sense of vision, she's feeling like the garment is the latest in the Frederick's Of Hollywood Bea Arthur Pre-Facelift line. Jenah gives a big "whatever" to Flora Zeta's feedback. Not to Flora's face, of course. Flora says, "Jenah seems to have...a different kind of personality. She just needs to work on that." I can't tell if Flora Zeta is crazy/awesome or just crazy.
Two and a half hours remaining! Saleisha walks down the stairs from her Helen Lee go-see, and heads to designer Fiona Vong, who is in the same building but on a different floor. Bianca is already there. Bianca tells us that she knows she can hit a go-see, and as she walks she gives Saleisha her patented, "Bam, bitch!" look. Usually this look precedes Bianca sending someone on a trip to Fist City, so Saleisha should count herself lucky. When Bianca's through, she asks Saleisha if Helen Lee is far. Yes, the Helen Lee who Saleisha just came from seeing, who is located right upstairs. Saleisha lies that she doesn't know. Beeyotch! Saleisha interviews that she felt bad, but it's a competition, and they can't be sisters all the time. She is totally just enacting revenge for the "borderline plus size" comment.
As Saleisha tells Fiona Vong that her store is sooooo cuuuute, and her line is soooo cuuuute, and she's sooooo cuuuute, Bianca heads back to her car. She learns that Helen Lee is in the same building and interviews, "You bitch!" She's kinda mad, but not all that mad, probably because she actually taught Saleisha that move. Chantal arrives at Fiona Vong and waits for Saleisha to finish up. She gets to witness Saleisha cooing about the designs, and telling Fiona that she's so cute that Saleisha wants to take her home. Is that maybe a little insulting? Chantal notes that Saleisha is kissing ass, and says that there's a fine line between appreciating the clothes and kissing the designer's butt. She then proceeds to cross that line and kiss the designer's butt.
Saleisha goes out to her car and, with an hour to go, decides to head back to the agency. Bianca does the same. Jenah, meanwhile, is on her fourth go-see, and with thirty-five minutes to go, she tells her designer that she has time to try on one more outfit. Heather, meanwhile, hot off of her first go-see, gets lost again. She can't find the designer. And then, believe it or not, she gets lost AGAIN, because she can't find her car. Heather interviews that she felt like a dumb-ass. Well, yeah. Chantal, meanwhile, has completed her fourth go-see and asks her translator how long it will take to get back to the agency. The translator estimates about 45 minutes, and Chantal is shocked. She interviews that she thought she had left herself plenty of time, but she underestimated Shanghai traffic. Bianca agrees, and says that Shanghai traffic is like New York times four. With fifteen minutes left to go, Saleisha makes it back to the agency. Jenah, meanwhile, spots Heather wandering around as she is stuck in traffic. Heather says that she can't find her cabbie, and Jenah just kind of laughs at her. Oh, offer the bitch a ride! With a few minutes to spare, Bianca makes it to the agency, much to Saleisha's chagrin. Because the most satisfying victory is one that is over no one.
Susan comes out and congratulates Bianca and Saleisha for being the only models who returned on time. Seriously, that is pretty pathetic. The others are disqualified, but Susan will wait until they're all back before giving the evaluations. Jenah arrives fifteen minutes late, and Bianca and Saleisha mildly celebrate her disqualification. She shares the news that Heather is nonchalantly wandering around the streets of Shanghai, and all the girls agree that if they were in the same situation, they'd be panicking rather than meandering. Chantal arrives twenty minutes late and asks the others who got there on time. Saleisha, annoying as ever, pipes in that she was the first one there. Nobody gives a rat, Tootie. Now go back to fingering Natalie in the bunk bed. Jenah interrupts Tootie's tale of her unending perfection by asking Chantal if she saw Heather wandering around on the street. Chantal nods gravely. Cut to Heather, who is standing outside of her car, but doesn't seem to know it. Her driver has to tell her that this is in fact the car. Whoo. Heather interviews that she was very disappointed not to have made it back in time, because this was one of the most important challenges. She says that there's no excuse for the fact that she arrived forty minutes late. And, we are led to believe, only made it to one go-see.
Susan comes out to officially let Chantal, Jenah, and Heather know that they're DQ'ed. She tells Saleisha and Bianca that she's going to check in with the designers and get back to them about who the winner is later on. In their mini-bus, Heather sits in the back and laments her poor performance. The other girls kind of give her a pep talk, but you can tell that some of the girls are sick of doing so. Saleisha interviews that Heather won two challenges and takes great pictures, so really shouldn't be so hard on herself. Saleisha and the others engage Heather in a little primal screaming to let out her tension, and she calls them crazy bitches. That's like the California roll calling the rangoon crabby.
After a brief interlude at home, the girls get to go out to a rooftop restaurant right on the harbor. Everyone's having fun when Susan enters to share the winner of the go-see challenge. In case you forgot, the loser whiteys consisting of Heather, Jenah and Chantal were disqualified. Susan shares the designers' feedback with Bianca and Saleisha. Bianca lights up a room with her great smile and has great pictures. The designers thought she was a little bit nervous, so time she should relax. Saleisha has a great personality, but her pictures all look the same. Oh, burn! The winner of the go-see challenge, Susan says, will appear in an ad campaign for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Turns out the ad debuts tonight, and Susan tells them that if they stand up, they'll see it. They do, and a boat with an electronic billboard on its side shows a picture of Bianca with the words "2008 Olympics China." There are Chinese characters underneath, which roughly translate to, "Not to worry, fellow citizens! This is totally not a real ad." Bianca is really excited, and the others actually seem excited for her too. Bianca wants to be called first at panel and bring fear into the hearts of the other girls. More fear, that is, and for professional reasons. She says she wants to win, and she's going to win as we head to commercials.
Meanwhile, Jaslene gets to throw out the first pitch at an Orioles game. Baltimore! Fashion capital of the mid-Atlantic. And also, apparently, baseball capital of the mid-Atlantic, as there are about three people in the stands. In other news, isn't Drew Barrymore about the last person on earth who should be saying the word "Lashblast"? In other other news, is that Heather with Antonio Banderas in the commercial for St. Jude Children's Hospital?
When we return, there is Tyra Mail. "No, lion, it will take a lot of pride to get through this shoot. Love, Tyra." Heather yells, "Animal shoot!" and raises her hand up in victory, but I really think this shoot is going to be a tribute to all the gays in the animal kingdom. You know, like Madonna's horse who always tries to hump Guy Ritchie, dressed in a rainbow saddle. You whinny your heart out with pride, Sister Ed!
The girls head to their location, which is described by Jenah as a place with bridges and trees, and really loud bugs. They were yelling, "Gay is okay! Arthro-pride!" to set the mood for the shoot. And speaking of gay, out walks Nigel Barker, who will be the girls' photographer for the day. Jay tells them that they have to stand out in a crowd, so today's photo shoot will have them posing with lions and dragons. Oooh, the dragon is going to be tough. Can any of you remember what Helen Reddy wore in Pete's Dragon? That bitch Elliott tore the town of Passamaquoddy inside out. And don't even get me started about Puff. Jay reminds us that Nigel has done other shoots on ANTM. Does he have any real credits?
The girls get their hair and makeup done, and Nigel talks to them. Chantal says that, with Nigel as the photographer and a judge, this shoot is a million times more important than any other. Nigel talks to Jenah and says that he doesn't want his status as a judge to affect her. Jenah gets a little smart-assy and does an impression of Nigel saying how beautiful and wonderful he is and how he doesn't want them to get starstruck. She jokes that she's going to faint right in front of him, and a gong sounds. Oooh, if only Chuck Barris were there to haul her ass out. Nigel says, "The sarcasm is rich. The sarcasm is rich. Okay." You know when Nigel repeats the same thing twice and follows it up with an "okay" he's pissed. Also, Jenah is stupid. I think she's trying to show that she does have a personality. As Flora Zeta said, "A different kind of personality." Take the lady's advice and work on it, Toothy Tile. The other girls are aghast, and think she comes off as unprofessional and cocky. ["She totally should not have done it, and she comes off very badly in this episode, but I have to admit that Nigel's 'please don't let my awesomeness intimidate you' thing would have tempted me to do pretty much the same thing. Hmm. Maybe there's something I can learn from that." -- Miss Alli]
Jenah is up first on the shoot, and tries once again to be cute with Nigel, and once again fails miserably. She interviews that at first, she wasn't intimidated by Nigel, but when she got into the shoot, she realized she had to impress him. Maybe she couldn't handle the stress of him telling her that she's supposed to be like a Chinese princess. She knows if that were the case, her teeth would have been bound at infancy. Nigel stops to give her some direction, and she interviews that it broke her flow. But not her Aunt Flow, apparently. Jay looks troubled, and approaches Jenah to tell her not to lose her energy. He says that she didn't deliver today, and her usual pop and sparkle wasn't there. A red-eyed Jenah says that she didn't get much in the way of amazing critique, which was worrisome to her. This plus the challenge disqualification could equal a trip back to the Triple Tooth Ranch.
Saleisha is up , and she actually looks kind of great. Jay says that every week Saleisha gives him timid, but she's turned around and turned a new leaf. Bianca follows, and she's wearing, like, a weird Wrangler denim shirt over her outfit. It is not pretty. Her makeup is uber-clown, too. Jay tells her that she's looking a little mean. She pushes out her lips again, and at the end Nigel tells her that she relaxed them on the last frame, which she should remember to do always. Why didn't he just tell her to relax her lips at the beginning of the shoot? Chantal is , and also gets an ugly outfit. At one point she puts both of her arms out to the side, and Jay and Nigel yell that she's looking a little showgirl. I guess the editors couldn't find any Chinese showgirl music, so decided to accompany this scene with something that sounds like it's straight out of Hairspray. The dragon seems to be into it, though. Jay tells us that Chantal is forcing her poses.
The other girls watch Heather wandering around. Oh, God, don't tell me she's lost in the courtyard and asking one of the bugs to point her back in the direction of the shoot. Apparently, she was trying to think about how to stand out, then just decided to wing it and not overthink it. Nigel tells her to work it out, and Jay tells her that the pose she had while listening to Nigel looked like a model. Her regular poses, however, don't seem to be knocking Nigel's knickers off. From the sidelines, Jenah tells the other girls that if she had Heather's dress she'd be working it. Bianca asks what she would do with it, and Jenah shows her first pose. It's a move straight out of Posture Pete. Bend to the side and touch your toes! Nigel has to yell that there's a little too much noise from the peanut gallery. That's such a middle-school-teacher move. Nigel will confiscate the note that Bianca passed to Chantal and read it in front of the whole crew. Jay rags on Heather for looking like a football player, and says she stuck her hip out like she was about to go to the bathroom. Er, would that it were that easy, the toilet seat cover never would have been invented, my friend. Jay thinks that Heather second-guessed herself, because he could see the greatness as Nigel was shooting, but she'd pull away from it. Heather interviews that it wasn't her best shoot, but she wants to stay and isn't ready to stop learning.
When the girls return home, there is Tyra Mail. Someone is going to be eliminated. Bianca's not nervous -- she just wants to get panel over with. Jenah, however, is worried and says she'll be sweating bullets at panel. Ever the anti-Martha Stewart, Jenah says, "This is just not a good thing," as we head to commercials.
When we return, it's panel time! And what better way to enter than with a photo of Tyra squatting like she's going to give birth in a rice field, complete with Saleisha's haircut! Yes, Tyra is sporting the Tootie hair. I guess that officially makes her "Tootra." And probably lays to rest any doubts that Tootra Junior will be the winner. Life is so unfair. In any case, there are prizes, there are judges. Susan Yang is the guest judge. Tyra announces that the four girls who survive this elimination will be heading to Beijing.
Chantal is up first for elimination, and gets chided for being twenty minutes late for her go-see challenge. Tyra tells the girls that they give the time limits because, at the end of a day of go-seeing, you may have a job or a flight to catch. So they're testing the girls' time management, because there can be big opportunities at the end of go-sees. Except for these girls there wouldn't be, as none of them would actually get booked in a thousand Chinese lunar years. But I digress. The designers thought that Chantal was likeable and sweet, and that she should wear nude underwear. Chantal notes that they had just sent their laundry out, and Miss J. tells her to wash that shit in the sink and dry her drawers with a hair dryer. I'm usually too busy drying my armpits with a hairdryer to even get around to that. The judges think that Chantal's photo is strong, though she has some weird hand placement. Nigel tells her that every time she got positive feedback on the shoot, she'd break from her posing and get all excited. Tyra makes her be continuously fierce while she yells praise at her.
Bianca is , and Tyra says that she booked two out of the three go-sees she went on. China likes her! I guess this means we'll all be able to buy little keychain-sized Bianca miniatures at the dollar store this Christmas! And don't forget your Bianca snow globe! Tyra loves Bianca's body language in her photo, but says that Bianca forgot about her face. Twiggy adds that Bianca looks great from the neck down. High praise, high praise. Nigel says that Bianca was giving and wanted to try different things in the shoot, but she wasn't fluid. So he had to bust out the Astroglide. Seriously, why does everything Nigel say sound so pervy lately?
Then there's Jenah, who also gets chastised for being late at the go-sees. The designers said that Jenah had a diverse portfolio and a good walk, but she could work on being a little more personable and was also messy-looking. This is the polite Chinese way of saying that she looks and acts like ass in person. Seriously, she always looks so gross. Twiggy loves Jenah's shot, and says it's a great fashion picture. It really is great, I have to admit. Nigel says that Jenah takes great pictures consistently; however -- and it's a big however -- Jenah has to watch her sarcastic sense of humor, which comes off as arrogance. He tells her to be careful, because she's stepping on a very fine line right now. Oooh! Tyra tells Jenah that there's a way to make a joke with someone you're subordinate to. And it's probably not by telling them that they have a giant pole up their ass. ["I need to rewrite Wing's Christmas card." -- Miss Alli] Tyra also has noticed that Jenah has a superior attitude, which comes across. Jenah nods, and can barely contain herself from rolling her giant bug eyes.
Saleisha is . The designers said that Saleisha was beautiful and had a great personality. Yes, the designer Shmyra Panks was particularly forthcoming with her praise. Nigel tells Saleisha that she was his favorite girl to shoot, and that he had a lot of fun with her. She gives herself a round of applause. Nigel says she was charming, came to set with a great attitude, and really pushed the envelope. Her photo is really good. Tyra loves it, and says she finally sees an edgy girl, and not just because she has an edgy haircut. In the UK, Wikipedia tells me, this edgy haircut is called the "pudding basin." Sometimes I think Tyra forgets we have eyes. Like, you know, during casting.
And then there's Heather, of forty-minutes-late-from-the-go-sees fame. Tyra notes that on top of the lateness, Heather only made it to one go-see. That was obviously voiced over, though, so I don't know that it is actually the truth. Susan says that Heather's runway is also a little bit awkward. Miss J. asks her to demonstrate, and gives her a few tips. A little too late, Marlon Jackson. Heather's photo is great, and gets praise from Twiggy and Susan. Nigel says that she got lucky, and is actually a little stiff. She should work on loosening herself up. None of this prevents Heather from being named Cover Girl Of The Week for the 1100th time, though.
The judges deliberate. Susan likes Bianca's picture, but Nigel doesn't think it's very strong. Everyone will like Heather's look, says Nigel, but her problem is that she can't communicate very well. Twiggy asks Nigel how she is in front of the camera, and Nigel says that she moves, but there's a disconnect of some sort. It's almost as if the camera sees this beautiful thing and zones in on it. I think Bianca must be slipping him talking points. Nigel loves Saleisha, and Miss J. thinks she's on the edge of high fashion. Miss J. thinks that something is missing with Chantal, and Susan says that she needs more confidence, as she has no clue if she's doing the right or the wrong thing. Tyra says that Chantal passed her crazy modeling test. This has no bearing on anything, and is just Tyra wanting to imitate Chantal posing. Nigel thinks that Jenah was lucky to get a good shot, because her modeling wasn't actually that good. Twiggy doesn't know what to do about Jenah. She says Jenah thinks she's being funny, but Twiggy is actually afraid that she's going to go out and offend clients. Nigel says that Jenah's not a bad girl, she's a good girl. Okay, now he is officially creeping me out. Like, it's been notarized. He thinks Jenah's personality is getting in the way. Tyra asks Susan what the Chinese word is for a girl who's a cocky know-it-all. Susan, well-trained, answers, "Je-nah."
The girls return. Saleisha is called first, followed by Bianca and Chantal. This, of course, leaves Jenah and Heather in the bottom two. The two of them have some of the best pictures of the bunch, but are also not the strongest communicators. If Heather can't make it on a go-see, Tyra voices over, it's nearly impossible for her to book a job. As beautiful as she is standing there, that's not enough. And then there's Jenah, with her amazing photos and an attitude that turns off the judges. So who goes to Beijing? It's Jenah. I have to say I was not expecting that. I kind of thought that Heather should go, but I figured they'd keep her around until the final three just to fuck with her. Tyra tells Heather to be proud of herself, and adds that maybe there are some clients out there watching the show who saw a little more in Heather than the go-see clients. Yeah, I'm soooo sure there are designers watching this show. And no, Kimora Lee doesn't count. And no, she's actually not watching this anyway.
Heather tells us that she really wanted to win and wanted to prove that she could do this. When she first came in the house, she thought her Asperger's would be more of a problem than it really was. She thought she wouldn't be able to get along with any of the girls, and that she would be too different. But since she's been there she's learned so much -- to be more confident, to not always be so self-conscious, and that not everyone's going to judge you just because you were born a certain way. She says that the experience was much more than a prize. And...woah! That was like the most articulate thing ever. I guess she's only selectively a poor communicator. It's also awesome to see her having this attitude, and feeling good about herself, and knowing that even though she didn't win, she's been successful. I think that the mercy kill was warranted, but I still will maybe vote for her six times as week's Cover Girl of the week.
week: The Great Wall, plus shady behavior.
