Bachelor TV Show - Brad Meets The Families - Bachelor Photos & Videos, Bachelor Reviews & Bachelor Recaps | TWoP

In the kitchen, Stepmom and Snarly Simon express concern for Bettina, pointing out that the nature of the show requires Brad to string the women along and feign feelings he doesn't actually have. Brad gently objects to this characterization -- which, although it's not untrue, is unnecessarily combative.

Prof. Browne reminds Bettina that she'd have to move to Austin, which he doesn't like because she'd be moving "because of a man." And defying another one, namely himself, which is the central issue. He reviews Brad's other horrible qualities, to wit: not wasting money on a college degree, and having the gall to run a successful business. All of a sudden Bettina is in tears: "Oh my God, it's so scary." …What? Nice editing. Not. The hell?

Kitchen. Stepmom and Snarly ask if he can tell them Bettina is the one. He says he can't, and he probably can't, i.e. he's not allowed to by production, but of course the two of them aren't hearing it when he talks about "real feelings." Bradterview: They don't take me seriously. And I get that, in terms of not really taking the whole Bachelor experience seriously, or thinking that your (step-)daughter is making a big mistake involving herself with the franchise and wanting to discourage it. But to behave that rudely to the man, who is your guest? It's not his fault, for starters, so if you want to unload on someone for dragging you into this, you can start with Bettina. Brad's perfectly polite and nice, for another thing, and if he weren't, you might take issue with that, instead of acting superior and making him uncomfortable. It's just bad breeding.

Then the yappy dog starts, you know, yapping, and the women cut the conversation short to take the dog outside, and Brad is like, what the hell was that about: "Not a single thing…came from that."

Elsewhere, Brad and Bettina do the postmortem. Bettina tries to defend her parents, but Brad's like, I may not "have education," but at least I'm smart enough not to judge anybody. Bettina is all fidgety and makes a "…whoa there" face, and says, "All I can say to that is, I don't look that great on paper either." Brad snaps his head around and then stares front again, and he's clearly pissed. Too courteous to go off on her, but pissed. Maybe it's the "either" that does it, because what kind of thing is that to say; maybe it's that her continuing lack of self-esteem over the divorce is starting to grate; more likely it's that they both know Bettina's only still there because the producers want a villain and neither of the remaining three is a big enough bitch to keep things interesting, so if I'm Brad, I'm fed up. What is the point of making him endure those horrid people if he doesn't even like Bettina? Because he doesn't, you guys.
