Meanwhile, back at CTU, a convoy of vans arrives from the airport and parks in the parking lot. Chappelle greets Nina and has her whisked off to an interrogation room. Kiefer questions Chappelle about the security configuration inside the building. Chappelle assures Kiefer that they can handle Nina. "You don't know what she's capable of," warns Kiefer. "That's none of your concern," says Chappelle. "I'm sending you to medical to get checked out." Kiefer insists that he's fine, but Chappelle tells Kiefer that he knows Kiefer's been using heroin. "Tell me I'm wrong," says Chappelle. Kiefer says nothing. "I didn't think so," says Chappelle. Kiefer insists that he's fine and hasn't "missed a step." "I need to cover my ass," says Chappelle.
Inside CTU, Adam the Woman Hater approaches Spawn and tells her that Charlie Brown and her father just arrived. Spawn gets up and heads for the front door, ostensibly to greet her father, but instead she sees Nina brought in. Psych! Nina and Spawn exchange a look until the men escorting Nina take her off to the aforementioned interrogation room. Kiefer enters. Spawn runs up to him and hugs him. Kiefer hugs her back. From elsewhere on the floor, Nina looks back and watches them. Shut up, eerie tinkling piano! The time is 02:09:22 AM.
The time is 02:13:35 AM. Klockwise from the top left, Palmer sits at his desk, Lady Mac looks off into space, and Mrs. Ocean lies awake in her Pier One Imports bed. Okay, so I guess Spawn and Kiefer's hug lasted the entire commercial break, because they're still standing there on the floor. "I have to go debrief Chappelle," says Kiefer. Um, Kiefer? You don't debrief Chappelle. You brief Chappelle. Chappelle debriefs you. Nevertheless, Kiefer walks away, but before he can disappear, Spawn calls out to him, "I know all about your drug problem." Kiefer turns around to face her, astonished. "Why didn't you come to me with this?" she whines. Why didn't he come to Spawn with his drug problem? Um, because she's his daughter. Not to mention she's probably the reason he's doing drugs in the first place. Kiefer hugs her again. "I was embarrassed," he says. "Is it over?" she asks. Kiefer tells her he may need to enter a program to get help, and then they hug some more. Like, they just keep hugging and caressing each other's hair and, like, they won't friggin' stop, and I'm like, "Hey guys? Get a room!" Finally they stop it and Kiefer heads toward the clinic again to get checked out. But first he runs into Potato Face, who welcomes him back in a way that's surprisingly not inappropriate at all. Kiefer exits, and the CTU front door opens again. This time it's Special Agent Charlie Brown entering the building. He and Spawn make eye contact, but before he can talk to her, she walks off.
