8. "Wallace Fennel has a killer crossover. But it's really his sweetness and purity of spirit that makes him unbeatable." Wallace was a great friend to Veronica from the beginning, but early on, the relationship often seemed kind of one-sided. This moment did a lot to change that.
Veronica's still waiting when Wallace comes out of the door, looking a little dazed and with his clothes not having been returned. She rushes to him and gets him into the car. Cut to her house, where she brings him some food as she tells him, "If you ever need a kidney, I've got one with your name on it, no questions asked." Aw. Wallace is still shaken up from his ordeal, and Veronica tells him how sorry she is. The good news, however, is that the voice messed up -- he once called Wallace "2400" (instead of "Three," his basketball number). He says that there's a freshman at Hearst who got a perfect 2400 on the SAT, so that must be him. Wallace saw his picture in the paper -- "he looked kind of like Josh Groban." That's not quite the image I'd expect for an S&B-esque society, but maybe Josh Groban has a secret deal with the devil. I kind of doubt it, but it would explain the Ally McBeal thing. Veronica gets her laptop, shows Wallace the surveillance pictures she took, and gets a positive ID.
In the cafeteria, Veronica sees Dominick, who seems to have a broken wrist. I'm guessing this was the price of him telling Veronica who sent the e-mail? He gives her a look that's equal parts baleful and scared, and Veronica's answering "You make me feel like a natural woman" look is priceless. Hey, I'm glad something does in this episode. She joins Piz, and they share a quick smooch until some super-dorky kid starts harassing her. Veronica gets out the taser, but Piz prevails on her to go outside and eat, although he has to hold her back when the dork makes a comment about "looking even more familiar from behind." Piz tells her karma will get the guy. Veronica: "Oh, I know! I'm gonna run him over with my karma." Hee.
Logan's playing a video game when Dick enters and congratulates him on his ass-whipping of Piz. "That's one messed-up Polack!" I suppose I should be offended, but "Polack" seems so retro and toothless at this point that I'm just going to laugh at Dick instead. Logan flatly says Piz didn't make the video. Dick: "Whoops. Your bad!" Hee. Dick leaves Logan to process things, which I see now is code for "Getting Emo On The Couch." Hey, I don't blame him for the euphemism. It's shorter.
