"Okay, stop it!" he says to her. "Do you remember the last time we were here? Your contact had just been killed in Morocco. Your world was collapsing all around you and I told you that even in the middle of all this darkness, you could not allow it to swallow you." "You gave me strength," she says, tears streaming down her cheeks. Vaughn's not buying it. "The truth is, you were the one who always kept the darkness from overtaking me," he says. "I know you can do this. I've seen you do this time and time again. I'm gonna go. And you are gonna take these guys down, okay?" He touches her face gently and then leaves. Dr. Funboy informs DVBM that Syd's fighting the process and then he sticks her again with the Electric Stick of Honesty.
She goes back to Vaughn again and again Vaughn is like, dude? Seriously. Let me go. Syd's like, uh, dude? I would LOVE to, but Crazy Doctor Man with the Snazzy Jazzy Electricity Stick won't LET ME. Vaughn's like, baby, I'm not here. None of this is real. Syd says she wants the world to forget about them and that she's tired of having this weight on her shoulders and she doesn't want to be the one who saves the world and she wants him all to herself on a deserted island where no one can bother of them. "I want out," she says. "I don't care if they win. I just want you to stay with me." "That's it," says Dr. Funboy, supremely pleased with himself. "We got her." "Excellent," says DVBM. "Now I want the map of SD-6."
We head to the Trailer of Potential Spy Romances, where Syd and Vaughn are meeting about Syd potentially working to bring down SD-6. Syd's crying and saying that she wants nothing more of this spy crap and that she just wants to live a normal life. Vaughn orders her to draw him a map of the SD-6 family tree and how far she thinks it goes. "Just do it!" he orders. Okaaaaay, Mr. Bossy Pants! Syd draws him a map and it's basically a circle with SD-6 in it and maybe seven or eight other names. Vaughn smugly gets up and pulls down a big rolled up tube of paper and flings it down on the desk in front of Syd. "This is what you're in the middle of," he says, showing her a complex map of a hundred or more names and locations. "This isn't about cutting off an arm of the monster," continues Vaughn. "This is about killing the monster."
Dr. Funboy tells Syd to focus on the map. Speaking as Vaughn, the doctor tells Syd to look at the upper right corner of the map. "What do you see?" he asks. Syd looks up at the right corner of the map and finds what the doctor is looking for. "X-23 Norte," she says. "Well done," says the doctor as Vaughn. "Well done." DVBM pipes in, "Thank you, doctor." He turns to look back at the mirror, and it's then that we see DVBM's reflection in the glass, and it's…IRINA DEREVKO. That's right. It's Irina. Lena Olin, baby! Lena Olin! "I'll let my associates know we've discovered the location of The Horizon," she purrs at Peyton, who's standing at her side. "I'll be back in a few days. Until then, keep her comfortable." She turns and nods at Peyton and then walks off. Damn. DAMN. I had NO idea she was coming back, and I'm totally spoiled. My jaw fell to the ground with this one. Sincerely.
