Downstairs. Ashley finds Emanda, who has just walked in with Nolan, and asks if they can walk and talk privately. Less than gracefully, Ashley asks Emanda if Daniel has told her about the terms of his trust fund being changed. Emanda's perplexed by the question, and by the fact it's coming from Ashley, who elaborates that the changes stipulate Dan needs to get married to fully access his trust. Emanda asks why Ashley is telling her this. She replies that she would want to know if there was a chance her potential fiancé might have other motives, and walks away conflicted.

Doorbell. Leo is late to his own reading, and tells Victoria he was writing some new material. She's concerned because he was supposed to contact her after his interview with Amily, so she asks what he found out. He explains what happened and that Amily wants him to unravel their whole conspiracy. He's genuinely worried he could go down as the greatest fraud in literary history. Uh... the bowties, typewriter and Hemingway cottage didn't already make that come to pass? Victoria: "There are fare worse fates." FLASHBACK: Leo hits "record" on his tape recorder before asking a younger, fuller-haired Victoria about her romantic relationship with David Clarke. She responds by threatening to sue him for slander if he prints a word of that mess. Unfazed, Leo asks about the note she supposedly sent to David's cell the night before his conviction. Conrad swoops in from the next room and snatches up Leo's tape recorder from the table, saying the interview is over. Leo insists he's going to write this story, with or without the Graysons' input, and their threats to sue him aren't scary because he's already in deep debt -- he has nothing to lose. He starts to leave, and Victoria stands up, being given an idea. "Perhaps there is an arrangement that can be made, after all." Leo turns around with a smile on his face. /FLASHBACK. Victoria threatens Leo if he doesn't uphold his end of protecting their cover-up. Emanda has been watching this whole exchange from behind a pillar. How soap opera-ish of her.

Cut to the reading. Leo's writing pompously sets up his meeting with Amily. He stares at Victoria as his reading ventures into a passage of introspection about whether he could've been wrong about David Clarke all along after what he learned from Amily. "The answer I'm afraid to say, was a resounding... no." Emanda and Nolan's faces register slight disappointment.

Casa Emily. Emanda pours tea for her and Nolan as he paces back and forth fuming. "Spineless, seersucking dilettante. You know, I haven't been this disappointed since... Phantom Menace?" And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why we love Nolan Ross. That, and the fact he cautiously sniffs the mug of tea Emanda hands him before setting it down. Emanda's not nearly as surprised by Leo's actions. She figured this would happen. Then why go through all that trouble with Amily, Nolan asks. Ems has her own reasons, but she's not spilling. She just needs Nolan to take Leo out to dinner because she's going to need some time. "Time for what?" Nolan asks. "You'll know it when you see it," Emanda cryptically replies, a smile spreading across her face. The smile spreads to Nolan's face in that gleefully anticipatory way he has mastered.
