Back with Syd and Sloane, he says she really needn't have bothered with the secret message to Marshall earlier because he's accounted for everyone; Prophet Five, APO, he had to remove those obstacles. "If you so much as touch anyone else I love --" "The time for threats has passed, Sydney," Sloane snaps. "Besides, even if I wanted to, I couldn't stop it now." We catch up with Peyton, looking evilly hot, as she greats a Prophet Five guard at a gate. She says that Sloane couldn't make it, so she's there in his place. She heads up to meet The Twelve. Sloane says that he's making sure that all of this is going to happen and that she of all people should understand that. "There's no shying away from fate," he says. "I don't believe in fate," she says. Sloane just says he's very glad she's here instead of there, because he wouldn't want her to be there when "it" happens. She asks him what he's done, and we get a sweeping shot of APO as everyone scrambles to get the hell out.
Dix and Getty run through the subway system. Getty comes across a subway train and walks through the cars, finally finding a very large bomb on one of them. He tells Jack what he's found. Sloane is STILL talking. He says he never wanted Sydney to suffer as she did when she was a child or when she lost Danny or when she lost Vaughn. Back with Getty, Dix asks if he can disable it, but Getty can't without triggering the failsafe. But he can slow down the clock with liquid nitrogen and give them enough time to get everyone to safety. Dix says that'll only buy him twenty seconds and Getty responds, "Not if I stay here and keep hitting it." Dix realizes what this means and tells him to do what he can, but get to safety as soon as he can. Getty starts hitting the timer and it stops.
We switch back to Peyton, meeting with The Twelve. She opens up her case to get the amulet, but instead she pulls out two submachine guns and starts shooting. Everyone goes down. Wow. For an all-powerful cabal of control freaks, they're certainly not very well-protected, are they? Amazing no one's thought of just shooting the shit out of them before. Peyton and her bouncing hair of bounciness bounce off.
Meanwhile, SLOANE IS STILL TALKING. He tells Syd that he's offering her a chance to walk and she says she can't do that. He tells her that the only person she can rescue is herself. Back with Getty, he's still spraying. He checks in with Jack and asks after the civilians and Jack tells him that the last of the people just made it out. "Good," says Getty with a tone of regret. Jack tells him not to lose his sixty-second window and to get up top now, but Getty's already gone past that window, so there's no chance for him to make it out alive. He sits down on a seat and asks if Jack can patch him through to Rachel. "Tom, you need to get out!" she says, once he's patched through. "Yeah," he says. "Hey, Rachel? I wish there were more time. I would've asked you out." "I would've said yes," she says, crying.
