"So who are you?" asks Peter as Elle continues to fondle him like he's a magical life-sized doll. "What am I doing here?" Tobby tells him that he's an old friend of Peter's parents and that, while he's safe, his brother is another story. Elle mentions Peter going nuclear, and he realizes that they know who he is and what he can do. She literally can't keep her hands off him during this whole scene, and it's kind of hilarious. Her fingers are in his hair and tugging on his ear and just generally treating his body like a wonderland. Heh. Tobby claims that as long as Peter's abilities have control of him instead of the other way around, he's a danger to everyone. "Believe me," says Peter, pulling away from Elle's intrusive hands, "if I could turn 'em off, I would." "Oh, we've done that for you," trills Elle. And, sure enough, when Peter goes to use his TK, nothing happens.
Peter asks how they stopped his powers, and Tobby introduces the Haitian Sensation, saying that he can suppress people's powers very easily. Peter asks what this place is, and Tobby tells him it's a kind of research facility to help people like him. Except it totally isn't. Elle says they can get Peter to live a normal life. Tobby explains that thirty years ago, The Company had to shut down work on a vaccine that would disable Peter's powers, but, due to recent events, they've reinstated this research, and they're very close to finding a cure. "Forever?" asks Peter. "You will never have to worry about hurting anyone you love ever again," says Tobby. Peter grimaces. "How long until it's ready?" he asks. "Good!" says Elle brightly, throwing her arms around his neck. "You're making the right choice!" "Good boy," says Tobby. Heh. I love that they're all treating him like a highly trainable terrier here. "Good boy, Peter! Shake! Shake or no cookie!"
Hospital for Heroes. Ma Petrelli is looking into her eldest son's eyes as he comes to. Her concern for him is written all over her usually cold face. Nathan blinks, and his left eye is like a negative representation of his right, and his skin looks like a polish sausage left on the grill for too long. It's really extremely disturbing. However, it's good to see that, even though his whole face is burned to a bloody crisp, The Pasdar's lusciously long lashes are still dusting the tops of his impressive cheekbones. Fire cannot kill the beauty that is The Pasdar!
Nathan whispers Peter's name, and his mother tells him that Peter's disappeared and that the Coast Guard is searching the ocean for his body. Nathan hits a button on his bed to raise himself up so that he can see his reflection. Ma Petrelli tries to stop him from doing so, but he does it anyway, and the full impact of his trauma is terrifying. His mouth is half-open in a permanent grimace, the hair on the left side of his head is burned off, and his body looks like a festering sore. I certainly hope the makeup team wins an award for this one because DAMN.
