So like, you guys? You'd think with six episodes to go, we wouldn't have any time to waste, right? Well, you'd be correct, as we get right into it this week, with Veronica narrowly beating Clarence Wiedman to Abel Koontz's daughter, Amelia DeLongpre. Turns out Amelia has been receiving millions in Kane Software stock, which she thought was some sort of out-of-court settlement. Well, that's one way of putting it. Before we follow up on the teaser, though, it's midterm time, and someone is harassing this girl Sabrina, one of the best students in the school. She pays Veronica to find out if it's her ex-boyfriend, who's that guy Caz, whom Meg suspected of having a crush on her two episodes ago. Of all the people I was hoping would show up again, the cast of Home Improvement wasn't on the list. It looks like Caz might indeed be the harasser, but before we can find out for sure, Veronica has to attend a dinner at the Kane estate for the top students at Neptune to determine the recipient of a Kane-sponsored scholarship. Awkward. While there, Veronica imagines some chilling scenarios of Lilly's death. Duncan is super-creepy, and if he's the killer, you all owe me a drink, because I called that a long time ago. Anyway, there's another PI in town, played by the odious Ken Marino, and the less said about that, the better, except that Marino was harassing Sabrina on behalf of a poor Asian student. Unsatisfying ending there, but you can't have everything. Back to the good stuff: Wiedman and Keith have a bit of a run-in, and they already know each other, which isn't surprising, nor is Keith's protective reaction to that visit. He cautions Veronica to be more careful, and that's good advice, because Wiedman wins this round of cat-and-mouse by revealing Koontz's terminal condition to Amelia. The good news is that Keith reveals to Veronica everything he knows about Lilly's case. Also, Logan reappears to thank Veronica for looking for Lynn, and learns that Veronica has a Lilly-related file on him and all the other major players on the show. He doesn't freak out, possibly because he was out of the country at the time of Lilly's death. But he does reveal that he saw Duncan attacking Jake during a seizure, which...see above. And that was the week Duncan and Veronica broke up. Five episodes left, people. Not too late to hop on.
