Night Owl Lane

Night Owl Lane

Well, they brought Edward out of cold storage for this one. He redecorates a dull bedroom with a mishmash of Asian themes and motifs. He paints the walls peach and the furniture chocolate brown. There are accent cushions in a shade of blue I really like. He does a big painting of the Buddha's head, uses some Indonesian bulletin boards for the headboards, and takes every opportunity to use the word "lambrequin." I'm not gaga over the room, but I guess I like it as much as I could possibly like any peach room featuring a painting I don't care for. The homeowners love it. Well, the woman does, and the man seems happy for her. Hildi does a makeover on a room so jammed with art and furniture that it looks like a warehouse. She puts some white goo on the walls -- probably plaster, but it could be Marshmallow Fluff for all I know. I didn't catch it because Professor Frink was really running off at the mouth all through this episode. (Don't worry, I'll figure it out when I write the recap.) She rips up their yucky carpet and puts down a new floor of parquet tiles. Amy Wynn builds in a large scale shelving unit to display art and tchotchkes. Hildi brings their original furniture back in but arranges it much better. There's another rain-related furniture fiasco (though minor). Oh, and Hildi and her team manage to break the piano by trying to move it like dorks. But you probably already knew that from the promos, right? There's a reason piano moving is a specialty. Anyway, her homeowners are thrilled to bits. At least until they find out about the piano.
