Previously on Challenge 2000: Annoying complained to Kat that she hated how smug the Road Rules team was after winning two missions. Heather (in a clip that had never been shown previously) said that when someone cries, whines and gets injured every mission (like Annoying), after a while you are just like "Man, come on." Heather, I feel your pain.
Annoying is talking to a trucker on a CB radio. She affects a really terrible Southern accent and asks the trucker what he's doing. The trucker says he's "looking for someone to show [him] some hooters." Even though during her time in Hawaii, Annoying claimed to be offended by the restaurant "Hooters" and all talk of hooters in general, she tells the trucker she has some "large ones" on her "turnip truck." An interview clip is interjected with Teck saying "She's all about the drama." Gee, I only figured that out after recapping ONE episode of Real World Hawaii. Annoying tells the trucker she's a "really big girl" and the trucker says he's about "245, 248 pounds" (like that three pounds makes any difference). Someone starts screaming with laughter in the background. David tells us he "wouldn't call it drama" but instead he would "call it comedy." The trucker wants to find a place for them to "get off [the highway] and meet," but Annoying says she "already got off, my darling." Kat tells us that "it's safe to say Amaya relates better to men than women." Why are they all telling us things we already know? Oh, that's right -- because Bunim-Murray thinks the audience is a bunch of idiots. The trucker pulls up alongside their bus and sees Annoying and laughs. Heather tells us that "every time something is going on, [Amaya's] in the middle of it." The trucker says "tally-ho," and Annoying says "Bye bye!" I hope they are out of the south soon so that she can permanently retire that stupid Southern accent.
The team enters the "Pinetucky Campgrounds," and Heather B. bounds off the bus screaming, "It's a clue! It's a clue!" Heather might want to go with Annoying to find sports bras for larger-chested women. Maybe she wasn't planning on running though, and just got caught up in the moment. There are a bunch of pairs of denim overalls hanging on a clothesline with a big envelope that says "CLUE" hanging in the center. Yes starts checking out the overalls (which are embroidered with the Challenge 2000 logo). Heather and Teck read the clue, which tells them to be at Buckeye Park by noon the day. Mike tells us they are going to be doing "something with pigs." Heather continues to read: "Make sure to wear your overalls." Piggy tells us that it "sounds like rip-roaring fun," and that there might be "country music in the background," and they will "get to say 'Yee-haw' a lot." At least they're not perpetuating stereotypes of the Southern United States much.
It's suddenly the morning and there is a dog on one of the buses. Is it a stray? Does it belong to someone? These are questions that will never be answered. David tells us that sometimes you "wake up in the morning like you're gonna win" and he "felt that today." David is also wearing a ridiculous outfit, consisting of overalls, a really ugly kind of henley-collar-style shirt and a newsboy cap. Behind him, there is a paper plate stuck to the tree that is a note to Teck to "get to Buckeye Park ASAP." Did Teck disappear again or something? Is Heather going to beat him up in the parking lot again? These are also questions that will never be answered. Piggy says that she thinks her team will win because she doesn't think "Amaya likes getting her nails dirty." Annoying tells us she is "very confident today."
The buses pull into the park as the announcer welcomes everyone to the Dublin Redneck Games. David has "a very vague idea what Redneck Games are" and he's "thinking pigs". Teck says he hasn't had many "good experiences with rednecks," and that he hopes the games don't involve "hanging us from a tree." Some girls in the crowd scream, "We love you, Teck!" and they show a shot of Teck blowing a kiss, except he looks like he's still in drag, and actually resembles a young Diana Ross. That was weird.
The announcer invites everyone over to the "greasy pig relay." Teck says he "ain't scared of no pig." Heather, on the other hand, tells us she hates pigs and that she's "never seen a pig up that close before." Mike informs us that he has a lot of experience with greasy pigs because "that's what alcohol will do to you." Like, ha ha. Not. Stupid frat boy. The competition requires each team member to catch a greased pig and put it into a small pen in the corner. The RW team's coach tells them to corner the pig and just jump on it, because "he ain't gonna hurt ya." Annoying looks kind of doubtful. The RR team coach tells them to go for "the back legs."
Teck and Los go first, and Teck uses the back-legs trick to get his pig first. is Annoying vs. Holly, and Holly gets the win. The pair is Kat and Piggy, I think. It's Kat and someone, but Kat wins and they barely showed her opponent. Kat tells us they are "feeling pumped today." , Veronica surprisingly beats Heather and then Mike beats out Yes. In the final pairing, David beats out Dan by literally seconds, so the RW team wins that part of the competition 4 to 2. Heather tells us that we can "bank on" them winning the "10 G." Dan tells us that his team will come back, but he sounds kind of discouraged. Buck up, Dan! Veronica tells us she has "mud and lard and pig's hair stuck in between her fingers," and that she's "shaking because [she feels] so disgusting right now." Welcome to my Monday night nightmare, Veronica. Now you know how I feel every week.
up is the pie-eating contest. Each team member has to eat a pie while his or her hands are tied behind his or her back. Annoying notes that this was a "Brady Bunch episode." Teck does disgusting things to the pie with his tongue and Annoying tells him to cut it out. I never thought I would agree with Annoying, but there it is. Yes tells his teammates to not bother eating the whole pie, but to just mess it up so that there is no pie left in the tin, and their coach agrees. The announcer says that pie on the table does not count as eaten. Yes tells his teammates to "keep the same game plan," but Veronica doesn't want to since pie on the table won't count. Piggy says she doesn't even like pie. Do with that what you will. I got tired of the "pie as female anatomy" jokes about five minutes ago. Actually, I got tired of them while American Pie was still in theaters. Leave it to MTV to resurrect a nearly year-old-joke. Annoying is thinking of "the sausage [she] had for breakfast" and Mike says, "Don't think of that." Again, there are anatomy jokes to be made here, but you'll have to do it yourself.
The pie-eating contest is about the grossest thing I have ever seen. David puts his entire face into the pie. After a minute or so, everyone looks completely sick. Some of the girls are taking dainty bites out of the pie, as if that's going to work. The judges say that Heather is finished first, and hold up her clean pie tin. The RR coach notes that David has flipped his pie out of the pan and is eating it off the table, so he advises his team to follow suit. They do. Heather admonishes her team by saying she "ate the same shit y'all ate for breakfast." David is still gross. Yes is just pushing the stuff around with his nose, and he starts pushing it off the table and onto the floor. Heather cheers David on, and he also pushes some pie onto the floor, although it might not have been on purpose. Time is finally up, and as Yes and Veronica get up, we see large piles of uneaten pie underneath the table where they were sitting. The judges tally up the scores. The RW team gets 3 and the RR team gets 5. Heather protests that the RR team shouldn't get 5 because their pie is "piled all over the table." Annoying wastes a perfectly good pie by walking up and flipping it over to demonstrate what the RR team did. David says it was rigged. Heather starts chasing down officials because she is unhappy with the resulting score.
Mike tells the official that his team had two pies completely done and the other team had none, so he doesn't see why they won. The official says that they all flipped the pies over. Mike (and other teammates chime in here) claims they did that afterward. Annoying says that the RR team's pie is all over the table which does not equal "an eaten pie." Yes says there was "plenty of pie down David's overalls too" which makes you wonder how he knew what was down David's overalls. David says that the other team "ain't even happy because they knew it was bullcrap". We hear Veronica offscreen telling Annoying to stop talking shit. David gets involved to tell Veronica it's not about her and his team "won the [bleep]ing match". Veronica says she's "not here to fight" and David says he "wants the 10 Gs and that's that" and that it "ain't nothing personal, Veronica." Note how quickly Veronica backs down when David takes her on, yet she will talk shit about Annoying all day long. Yes points out that there is pie left on both tables, and that the ref is not biased, even though he "did not exactly go by the rules exactly" but he used "the same criteria in judging us both." David eventually shakes hands with the RR team men and the score is tied at 7-all.
Finally, they move on. The competition is "bobbing for pigs' feet." Los gets clarification from his coach on whether it's "pig's meat" or "pigs' feet". Piggy says she can do it because she's "big on bobbing." Again, insert your own joke here. You guys don't even need me anymore, do you? This show practically writes its own recap. Annoying claims that pigs' feet are "not going in [her] mouth" because it's "against her religion" and she's "not throwing away [her] whole life." Heather tells us that nobody cares if you don't eat meat, or are afraid of heights, but that you do what you have to do to win and "deal with the details later on." We see a shot of Kat wiping off Annoying's neck for some reason. Teck tells us that Annoying should "just chill out! Go with the flow, Amaya!" Annoying claims (while Kat continues to wipe the pie off her chin) that it will make her "sick in [her] stomach and sick in [her] heart." Heather says that Annoying's attitude, "that whimpering, that crying, is aggravating to the whole team." Yeah, and I've had to deal with it since last June. Every week. Thanks for reminding me.
The announcer says that each team member has thirty seconds to bob for "uncooked, untreated" pigs' feet. Hi, I'm trichinosis and I'll be visiting them all very, very soon. Annoying takes her protest to the officials, who tell her that she doesn't have to do it, but that if she doesn't, her team will forfeit the points. David tells Annoying to do it, but Kat says, "She's Jewish!" Wait, she has to tell the people she has been spending twenty-four hours a day with for the last few weeks that she is so fundamentally Jewish that she follows dietary restrictions? Wouldn't this have come up already? David points out that he doesn't see Annoying "in synagogue every Saturday." Kat says she likes and respects Annoying and that they are friends, so Kat is not going to make any apologies for her. David calls a team huddle and gives everyone a pep talk that sounds more like he is yelling at them, and essentially tells Annoying she's going to do it. The pigs' feet get dropped into the tank, and they look really gross. Kat hugs Annoying to try to comfort her. Frankly, I would much rather bob for pigs' feet than bungee-jump from that tower from the first episode of the season. The teams get one point for each foot retrieved. David says he wants to see six points from each team member. David is scaring me a little bit.
Yes goes first and gets four. Annoying watches with her hand over her mouth like she's going to yak. The last foot was retrieved while the whistle blew and Teck starts screaming, "That don't count! That don't count!" Veronica tells him not to be "so angry and bitter and mad." up is Mike, who gets two. Annoying draws more attention to herself by shielding her eyes and muttering, "Oh my God!" Veronica is up and also gets two. The water is looking cloudy, which you would think would be a disadvantage. I would request fresh water, I think. David goes , and he has his overalls pulled down to his waist. They slide down while he is bobbing, so that he ends up standing there in his hugely blueberry-stained underwear. He ends up with four and the score is tied at 13-all.
Los gets some advice from the team coach to "get a good look" before diving in, and he ends up with five. Teck gets a big cheer from the crowd but ends up with only two pigs' feet. Piggy practically dives into the tank and ends up with five. The RW team has some serious catching up to do. Holly also gets five, and Heather (for all her tough talk) gets three. Who's falling down on the job now? Dan ends up with five. Kat has some trouble, and Teck advises her to "get the toe, baby, get the toe." She ends up with only one. The score is now RW 20, RR 33. Annoying is the last one to go, of course, so she can make a big production number out of it. She says that she'll do anything for her team and then says, "God forgive me." What. Ever. Kat says she "really respects" Annoying for this because she knows "how hard it is for her." After all the drama. Annoying ends up with four, which is pretty respectable. As soon as the whistle blows, she runs off to throw up. David follows her and she is crying and saying it's "against [her] religion" while David just laughs at her and apologizes, then leaves her alone to crouch dramatically at the edge of the woods.
The score is now RW 24, RR 33. The teams gather to strategize for the event. David tells Annoying she did well. Annoying says she is going to "talk to somebody" because it's "against [her] religion." Yeah, we got that the first THOUSAND times you said it. Shut up, Annoying. Heather tells her that she doesn't eat pork or chicken, and she did it. Annoying doesn't care, because it's about RELIGION! Maybe if Annoying says it a few more times, it will be true. The RR team is discussing the event and their need to go "balls out." The RW team tries to do the same, but people are still bitching about the pies and religion and shit. David says that they "got screwed" but that there's nothing they can do about it now, and Kat urges them to "bring the focus back."
The announcer tells us that the event is "the nastiest" and it's called "the Mud Pit Belly Flop." He also says, "The bigger the smack, the more the score," and that the judging is on a scale of 1 to 5. There are two judges, so the total potential score is 10. You know, I don't think this event is as nasty as bobbing for raw pigs' feet. Veronica seeks clarification on the scoring, and finds out they will be judged on "form, splash and smack," smack being "the pop it makes when you hit the water." Veronica tells us she's going to jump into some "skanky-ass mud" even though she'd much rather "take a mud bath and get massages and stuff." Veronica's jump is actually really good, but I think she suffers for going first and gets an 8. Annoying is up , and she practically trips and lands knees first, earning a 4, which she proclaims is "crap." Piggy goes and does more of a dive than a flop, generating little smack, and gets a 4. Kat lands on her feet almost and gets a 2. Los tries to do a flip sort of thing but he doesn't commit and ends up with a 4. David gets some serious air time and nearly loses his pants in the process, earning a 10 AND an instant reply. Yes goes , and also earns a 10, but I didn't think his was as good as David's. He also gets an instant replay. Teck strips down to his underwear and, as the crowd chants his name, jumps in, and then hugs a fan standing nearby, getting her all muddy too. He gets a 10, probably out of pity. Holly's jump is good but nothing special and earns her a 9. Heather tells us to "bank on it" again, and that phrase is getting so tired, but she also earns a 9. Dan yells something unintelligible before his jump, and ends up with a 10, and then he pulls a bunch of spectators into the pit as well. Mike does a decent jump, but I think the judges got caught up in the moment and give him a 10. Heather jumps into the mud to congratulate him, and soon everyone is celebrating in the mud pit. The final score is RR 78, RW 69.
Piggy tells us that her team was so good at the "pig eating," and Yes tells us that they have tied it up. Dan says the "trash-talking will always be there," but they "showed a few people up today." The RR team is awarded their ten thousand E*Trade Dollars, as Annoying says she is "looking at the pie fiasco," and then declares it to be "cheating! Cheating! Wrong!" while Teck stands to her and ignores her. Both teams now have $30,000. Are they ever going to show us anything more about how the teams are investing the money, and whether they are making profitable investments, or anything? They make such a big deal about them being E*Trade dollars, and yet they don't talk about the investing part much.
On the bus, Yes conducts a post-mortem by saying that Kat "choked on the pigs' feet [event]," and also in her mud-pit jump, and that Teck choked as well. Los theorizes that all that "bitching and moaning" must have "pulled them out of their game." Yes admits that he was putting his pie on the floor and Los says he was "spitting it out." Yes says the RW team was doing the same thing, though. Dan says that he doesn't think that they finished five pies, but Yes says the other team didn't finish three. Yes then says it's "so tight" that they won the last two missions, and that now the RW team knows what it feels like to lose two in a row. I don't know why it doesn't annoy me to see Yes gloat, but it does annoy me to see Annoying gloat. Oh yeah. It's because I hate Annoying.
Over on the RW bus, things are a little less jovial. Annoying is still complaining that she only got a 4 on her mud flop. David says she landed "knees first" and Annoying says, "Whatever!". Heather starts babbling about how hard it is to earn $10,000 in a real job and how they will all regret it if they lose this money. David says they are supposed to have fun, but they "gotta represent when it comes to competition". Annoying jokes that she told Teck they were going to start "conditioning." David says it's not about conditioning, but that they have to execute instead of talking about getting screwed because they "lost by a lot." Heather agrees. Someone says that it's over and in the past, but Heather says the last mission was supposed to be in the past, and they carried it over into this one anyway. Kat tells us that people are "being a little hard on Amaya," and she might be "becoming the scapegoat." Annoying says they "must move on" and "what does not kill us, makes us stronger," and then she looks out the window real hard.
week: the teams play mud football and Annoying and Veronica are about to go at it. Piggy gets in a fight with a man on the phone and Holly comforts her.
Over the credits, Annoying says that "bobbing for pigs' feet is the most disgusting thing on the face of the planet." The interviewer speaks and says that "rumors are flying" that she had an "Egg McMuffin" or "bacon and eggs" or "some sort of ham product for breakfast." Annoying says with a totally straight face that she had sausage, not ham, and that she doesn't like ham. The interviewer asks her what sausage is made out of, and Annoying says, "Beef!" like "Duh, what would you think?" The interviewer just says, "Okay," and meanwhile he's probably thinking, "I am so getting a bonus for this footage."
