Only one person chooses to go home as a result of Tommy's death in the last episode, so if you remember who George is, you can forget him already. Once he's out of the way, the Revealer provides bullets and sends everyone on a hunt for a rifle. Only one group uses the map that was provided, which seems like the first thing you'd want to do. And not only does the rifle not turn up, but the bullets vanish. So someone probably has a secret rifle now, which is fun. Everyone thinks it's Johnny, but that's just because he threw a huge fit about how he was the only person he trusted with a gun.
The second time the Revealer starts honking, it turns out to contain a snake, which Sam immediately grabs. There's also get the key to a shed full of food, which causes the usual sort of arguing about whether they should ration it or what. Neeko declares that Sam is in charge of the shed, and Johnny isn't happy about anybody being in charge of anything.
Daniel wanders into the woods, in search of clues to what grim fate befell Tommy. But when he finds a giant footprint and a pool of blood, he runs away. Then he investigates a strange cave, which turns out to be occupied by Sabina. She tries to hustle him back to the camp, but he finds some markings on a rock that suggest that primitive humans may have fought a giant Gumby here. They wander around for quite a while, because it's eventually dark out and they're being menaced by strange noises that seem to be following them. Sabina has the sense to tell their camera operator to turn off that giant light that keeps being pointed at them. Those night vision cameras might come in handy later in the season!
At the camp, Esther convinces Victoria to eat some non-boiled mushrooms, which cause her to start hallucinating and screaming. But not right away, so nobody knows what's going on. The town carries her to the Panic Line, but they don't know what to do from there. After some debate, they decide not to just toss her catatonic body over in the hope that the producers will come get her. The morning, she's fine. But she quits the game anyway and casually tells Daniel that everybody is going to die. Thanks for the spoilers, jerk!
Want more? The full recap starts right below!Previously on Siberia... you know what? It's already too complicated to explain. The short version is that this is a scripted drama that looks like a reality show gone bad. And in the last episode, Tommy the Saintly Environmental Activist got killed by a bigfoot or something.
Later the same day, everyone's sitting around coming to terms with things. This time, we see some of the camera operators in the establishing shots. I think that's how we know important things are happening. There are some very authentic shots of people moping. Neeko takes a poll of the men, and most of them seem to want to stay. Daniel is particularly affected by Tommy's death because he was the one that Tommy carried to the camp in the first episode. Irene squeezes out a tear.
Aussie Host returns to remind everyone that Siberia is a dangerous place in which it is hard to get medical help. He claims that Tommy died to "a fall," even though the camera operator was also hurt. Anyway, does anyone want to take five thousand dollars and leave the show? Yes! The quitter is George, who is an exceedingly bland guy. We see him go to the helipad and push the Big Red Button. A helicopter comes in immediately, which means there's another helipad like fifty feet away. So George is out. Remember George? I've already forgotten him, and he's still giving a generic "So long, Siberia" speech to the camera.
The opening credits still contain the whole cast, even the people who have left already. That's standard for reality shows, but in this case it means that the people who played Berglind, Harpreet, Tommy and George get to be in the opening credits even though they were only here for one or two episodes. Good gig!
Everyone's sitting around and doing generic camp things. For example, Sam brings some wood to the fire. But then! The Revealer starts wailing! You know, after they made such a big deal about how this is a show with no rules and no guidance, it's weird that the Revealer is disgorging clues about how to live. This time, it's got a crude map. There are two big cabins, a smaller cabin, a giant X and what looks like a fence with four segments. It says, "What you seek you shall find hidden on this map." There's also several bullets and a clip. Or maybe it's a magazine. You know what I mean -- I do not wish to get dragged into a lecture on firearms terminology. Neeko pockets the bullets, and Johnny gets all whiny about how he should be the one with the bullets. When Johnny asks if anyone else has experience handling a gun, Sabina raises her hand. Because she's got a Mystery -- did you notice it? She hardly speaks, but she apparently knows how to use a gun. And she's a girl!

Want more? The full recap starts right below! So everyone decides they’re probably looking for a rifle to go with the bullets, and they run off into the woods. Miljan tells Esther to follow him to a secret place he knows, and leads her off in a random direction. His plan was to make her believe he was into her, although I don’t understand how this was going to achieve that. I guess his plan was that she’ll think he was lying to get her alone. Miljan tells us, “I didn’t come here to get laid. But if that happens on the way, awesome.” Johnny runs into Carolina in the woods and starts looking up into the trees. And then he starts speaking Spanish to her so now they have a bond.
Daniel, Neeko, Irene and Victoria are working as a unit and they have the map. What a good idea! Maybe I’m a traditionalist, but I think using the treasure map is a good strategy for finding the treasure. They’re looking for the giant X. And I was going to make fun of them for looking for a literal X out there, but then Daniel spots two trees with trunks that cross, making an X. It’s like It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, but with an X instead of a W. So they check out the ground below it. Neeko reports that there was a hollow log below the X, but although a rifle could have fit in there, there was nothing there. He’s convinced they were looking in the right place, so his conclusion is that someone must have found it already.
Back at the camp, everyone denies knowing anything about the rifle. The general consensus is that someone might have it, but no one admits to it. Sabina whittles. Johnny is still missing. The sun goes down. Later, around the fire, paranoia sets in. This section of the show kind of trailed off, huh?
The day, we’re reminded that the mushrooms are poisonous if you eat them raw. And with that important piece of foreshadowing in place, Esther is left in charge of stoking the fire. Daniel wanders off to the area where Tommy died, because that’s a great idea, right? What could possibly go wrong? Victoria comes out to the fire and Esther hands her the pot of raw mushrooms, assuring her that they’re cooked. The music gets ominous. I feel like you can tell the difference between mushrooms that are raw and mushrooms that have been boiled. There’s a sliminess involved and also probably a texture difference. But Victoria happily eats all of them. Remember, these are amanita muscaria or “fly agaric” mushrooms. They’re highly psychoactive. It’s important that you remember that.
Neeko checks under his mattress and finds all the bullets missing. The clip (or magazine) is still there, though. He shows the empty magazine to Carolina and tells her he thinks he knows who took it. Zoom in on Johnny.

Want more? The full recap starts right below! The inevitable confrontation between Johnny and Neeko does not go well. Johnny denies knowing anything, and then they have a discussion about whether the accusation is bullshit. Neeko is convinced that Johnny has the gun and the bullets, and Johnny decides to stop talking to him. Now no one trusts Johnny. Johnny does not appear to care all that much. I hope he actually found the rifle, because it’s the last thing the audience would expect.
Daniel walks into the woods. Where Tommy was killed. By something unknown. Which is probably still out there. He sees a broken tree. And then! The Revealer starts up again! So we’re done with Tommy for now. When the rest of the camp gets to the Revealer, there’s a snake in there. A snake! In a box! Almost everyone freaks out. But Sam walks up with a stick and yanks the snake out, grabbing it just behind the head. He tells us that he just saw it as food. He plans to cut off its head and cook it. Good thinking! There was also a key in there (under the snake) and Irene and Miljan know what it’s for. Miljan tells everyone to follow him. Irene points out in a confessional that he told her not to tell anyone about their secret shed, and then he took the very first opportunity to tell everyone and take all the credit. Everyone runs off, leaving Sam behind wondering what he’s going to do with this snake.
Miljan leads them all to the secret shed and the key opens the lock. Inside, there are a lot of jars of food. Vegetables! Peanuts and apples and tomatoes! Yum! Everybody starts digging in. Neeko tries to stop everyone from eating everything right away, because he thinks they should ration it. It might have to last all winter, you know. That’s what he says, anyway. I think with twelve people this food will last about a week. Johnny doesn’t care; he wants to just divide up the food and move on. His plan is to just take his twelfth (or whatever; I haven’t actually been counting) and let everyone else do whatever they want. Sam joins the group and tells Johnny they’re going to ration the food. Johnny tells us again about how he’s independent and can fend for himself and doesn’t trust people. He’s boringly repetitious on the subject, but I have to admit that it’s true to the spirit of reality shows. He leaves and everyone’s pretty smug about having shown him what’s what. Miljan makes everyone thank him for finding the shack.
Once everyone else has left, Neeko gives Sam the key to the shed. This is a great power move, because it makes Sam acknowledge that Neeko is in charge. He’s choosing to share authority. So now Sam is in charge of the food shack.
Daniel finds a clearing with trees that have been knocked over and blood on the dirt. He says, “You getting this?” to remind us about his camera operator. There’s a giant footprint of some sort in the ground. You know what makes giant footprints? Bigfoots. Daniel says they have to get out of there and he splits. The camera operator follows.

Want more? The full recap starts right below! At the camp, Johnny cuts off his fingertip with the axe, which causes a lot of freaking out. He nearly faints while people shout about boiling water and finding pillows to use as bandages. When he’s coherent again, he refuses to go across the line and get medical attention. His logic is that with half a million dollars, he could just buy a fake finger. Neeko tells us he has no respect or compassion for Johnny. See, they started with Neeko as a good guy and Johnny as a bad guy. But they’ve made Neeko less likable by having him treat Johnny this way. Unfortunately, Johnny is still not all that likable, so we’re left with two jerks. I have hope that they’ll try to give Johnny some good points later on. In the cabin, Carolina tends to Johnny and wraps his hand in a bandage. It’s his left index finger. She asks if he has the gun.
Daniel sees a cave and goes to investigate. It looks like it has some concrete in the walls, so it might be artificial. He calls out, “Hello?” and hears a noise. After a drama-building commercial, Sabina comes out and tells him not to go in there because there’s a drop-off. She makes him leave, although he clearly wants to investigate.
Victoria is sitting by the fire and freaking out. You remembered those mushrooms, right? People are concerned because her pupils are dilated and she’s babbling. Esther says that Victoria thought the ash from the fire was butterflies. I wish I could make out more of what Victoria is saying, because this is the kind of show where drug-induced babbling always ends up being prophetic.
Sabina leads Daniel back through the woods, although she’s going a lot faster than him. Then he stops following her because there are some markings on a rock. They look like cave paintings, but the reason cave paintings lasted so long is that they were inside. In caves. These markings are exposed to the sun and appear to have been made by a Sharpie, so I have my suspicions about how old they are. They show two little guys fighting a giant Gumby. There’s a target behind the Gumby and a big thing above them. It might be the sun or it might be a comet. So now we know that it wasn’t bigfoots after all. It was Gumby. Or multiple Gumbies.
Neeko, Irene and Esther speculate on what made Victoria freak out. Esther suggests that maybe it was Tommy’s death, which is somewhat disingenuous, considering that she’s the one who tricked her into eating the mushrooms. And then Victoria starts shrieking so people run in and try to soothe her. Victoria yells, “You’re all dead!” Oh, she’s fun now. She will not be soothed. Natalie tells us that she thinks she may have eaten one of the mushrooms. Annie tells us that she could tell she needed to get it out, so she sticks her finger down Victoria’s throat. This causes some vomiting, which is probably a good idea. Victoria gasps, “Fire. It’s green and it’s fire. The sky.” That’s not all that helpful.

Want more? The full recap starts right below! That night, Sabina and Daniel are still walking through the forest. They were pretty far out there! They hear a branch break and they stop.
Back at the camp, Victoria’s still freaking out. Neeko and Sam are sitting on the porch and they decide that Neeko gets to make the decision what to do with Victoria. He goes to talk to her and he wants to take her to the helipad so she can get medical help. Opinions are divided, but she screams incoherently when they try to carry her. Several people pick her up and start carrying her to the exit line. Johnny comments to Miljan, “One less person.”
Remember two paragraphs ago when Sabina and Daniel heard a noise like a branch breaking? That shot happens again. And they run! The camera catches up with them and they squint into the dark night. Sabina makes the camera operator switch to night vision, which is good thinking. It’s hard to escape in the night when you’re shining a floodlight in front of you.
Victoria is carried to the exit line. And then they realize that anyone who crosses the line is out, but the helipad is farther down the path. There’s no big red button that they can reach without crossing the line. One suggestion is to just roll her over the line and see if the producers come to get her. That might not work, and I wonder if crossing the line counts if it’s done involuntarily. Neeko’s a pretty big guy and he could probably throw most of these people across the line. Anyway, their current discussion drifts around to the question of whether anyone’s willing to sacrifice themselves and cross the line to carry Victoria to the helipad and push the button.
Sabina and Daniel get back to the camp. And everybody’s gone! They hear Victoria screaming in the distance, but that doesn’t calm them down. You can see how it would be a little unnerving.

Want more? The full recap starts right below!Natalie tells everyone that a bad mushroom trip will pass, and she’ll sit up with Victoria. Neeko declares that he’ll take second watch and Carolina will take third. So it’s time to carry her back home. Johnny and Miljan are not helping with that and everyone yells at them. They’ve got a point; traditionally the menfolk are expected to do the carrying and lifting
Esther tells us that she didn’t intend to poison Victoria quite so badly: “I expected Victoria to get sick. I didn’t expect her to lose her mind. This went a lot a lot further than I thought it would go.” Well, the Revealer’s note in the first episode said the mushrooms were highly poisonous if they weren’t boiled, so I don’t know what she was expecting.
Natalie sits to Victoria’s bed. Victoria seems to be getting some sleep, which is nice. Sabina lies in her bed and looks uncomfortable.
Daniel tells everyone about his woodland adventures and how noises stopped only when they stopped running. Everyone makes fun of him for being afraid of the dark, because I guess they already forgot about how Tommy got killed. I notice Esther’s still in Miljan’s bed, even though with Tommy and George gone, there should be the same number of beds as people. Although the empty bunk will be in the men’s cabin, I think.
The morning, all the women other than Esther cluster around Victoria. She won’t wake up! Oh no! Natalie doesn’t think she’s breathing! But there’s a pulse. And then Victoria wakes up with a start. She’s fine. She still feels a little sick, but she’s coherent. She says she doesn’t remember anything, and Esther looks a little relieved.

Want more? The full recap starts right below!Miljan thinks that maybe she didn’t eat mushrooms. She might just be crazy! No one else thinks this is a plausible diagnosis. Neeko tells the group that Victoria has decided to leave. He says she didn’t give him a reason, but I would think that life-threateningly-bad mushroom trip might be a possibility. You can see how someone might want to go home after a thing like that. Everyone hugs Victoria and she goes. Esther starts telling everybody how Victoria probably wanted to leave anyway and is just using this as an excuse. Neeko was disturbed by Victoria telling him that everybody needed to get out of there.
Daniel catches up with Victoria just before she crosses the line. She says it wasn’t just a bad trip. There’s a weird insert shot of Carolina poking at the wall of a cabin. Oh she’s carving Victoria’s name into it. That’ll be a creepy wall once there are some more names on it. Anyway, Victoria remembers everything from her visions. And she says, “You guys are all gonna die.” She says it in a hilariously casual way. Like, here’s the fact. You’re doomed. I gotta go. See ya.
