Melissa and Nick are still sleeping together and she suggests that they go to a school dance together. He's about as into that as he is into shirts. Sally doesn't remember that it was Faye that threw her onto the rocks, but Cassie deflects. Charlie helps Dawn move Henry's body. This silly mortal, Luke, asks Cassie out to the dance, but she says no. Adam seems jealous at the prospect of Cassie going out with someone else, so she takes Luke up on his offer. A parent-age guy, Zachary, accosts Cassie in the parking lot of the Boathouse and finds out that A) Cassie's mom is dead and B) she's living with her grandmother. He freaks out and grabs her and says that her mother would never wanted her to live there and he can tell she's a witch. Diana saves her by witch-throwing the guy onto a car. He says, “It can't happen again.”

Later, Faye is pissed because the Binding Ceremony made them all lose their individual powers. Or something. The witch stuff is a little fuzzy right now. Charlie tells Diana that he and Dawn are dating, mostly because Diana was prying about why they spend so much time together. Diana wears lip gloss to bed. Cassie goes through some old stuff of her mom's. So, no one mentioned that Cassie's mother was a freaking child bride. I'm just saying, I'm not sensitive, but this show just placed me two years younger than Cassie's mother and if I had a kid two years older than Cassie? The authorities would be notified. She finds a picture of Zachary in her mom's yearbook and it looks like they were friends. Meanwhile, Faye is trying to get some magic on in the halfway house and Zachary shows up.

At the dance, Cassie tells Luke that she didn't have any social life at her old school. Melissa is really excited when Nick shows up for the dance, but he treats her like a jerk. Diana tells Dawn that she's OK with her dating her dad. It looks like Dawn has to keep herself from vomiting. Just as Adam and Cassie begin some awkward conversation, Sally runs up and tells them to boogie, in order to SAVE THE DANCE. Of course, the minute they're on the floor together, the music changes from crazy electro to slow-dance territory. Melissa and Nick are talking about why he treats her like crap when Faye runs up and says that Zachary tried to attack her. Cassie is a horrible date and leaves Luke alone most of the time.

Charlie confronts Zachary who says he knows that they are all witches. He says that Amelia pushed him and a Heather away the deeper she got into the witchcraft. Then, Zachary beats the hell out of Charlie and walks away with a gun and the intention of killing one of the new witches. Apparently, this Heather person died in the fire with the witchy child-parents. Luke finally gets tired of Cassie ignoring him and leaves. Faye confronts Nick and says that he'd better treat Melissa right. I don't know if the intention was to make us like Faye a whole lot, but that's what's clearly happening. She runs this town.

Zachary shows up at the school and Cassie has to run from him. I love the CW. The crazy person is so hot. Zachary throws Cassie to the ground, but the rest of the Circle has collected and they toss his body around and knock him out. Dawn arrives and the kids give a phony excuse about what happened, which she of course "believes." Later, Cassie thanks everyone for saving her and it appears to draw everyone a little closer together. Nick suddenly starts acting nice to Melissa, which Faye witnesses and is happy/sad about. Diana takes Cassie home and Cassie apologizes for being rude to her. Diana says that she sees the way Adam looks at Cassie and Cassie says that she has nothing to worry about.

Last we see of Zachary, he is bound and gagged and mysteriously dirty in the trunk of a car. Dawn and Charlie are standing over him and Dawn cuts the palm of her hand and places it on his forehead and whispers some sort of spell. She tells him that he is marked and that she will be able to find him no matter where he is. If he ever even looks at their children again, she'll find him and make his life worse than Heather's. Hmm.

We begin with Melissa and Nick in bed. I understand that Nick has no parents and Melissa has fewer than she was born with, but is it really this easy to sleep over at a trick's house? Anyway, Melissa asks Nick if he wants to go to the dance at the school and he reminds her that she doesn't want anyone to know that they're seeing each other. She says she just didn't want anyone to think she was slutty (read: anyone=Nick and slutty=emotionally invested) but now she's feeling a little slutty. I hope that Melissa is better at witchcraft than she is at relationships. Nick says that they're not dating and if that's the direction she's headed, no more nookie for her. It usually doesn't happen this way, but Nick gets cuter the more he talks. Melissa calls him a dick and throws a shoe at his back.

At school, Sally, sporting a sling (and that's the extent of her injuries after having been flung 15 feet through a wooden guardrail onto a bed of jagged rocks, Sally should try MMA), spots Cassie in the hall and tells her that she knows her SECRET. She's really just talking about the fact that Cassie hasn't signed up for any extra-curriculars. So, she can help Sally with the dance. Sally doesn't remember anything from her accident, but feels like Faye was involved.

Adam and mortal Luke are talking about Cassie. Luke would like to help her get a little more comfortable in town, if you catch his drift. He's really not as creepy as this scene kind of makes him look. Assertive high school boys always seem sinister on TV. This one seems sweet though.

Charlie visits Dawn's office and tells her that Henry's body is in the lakehouse and won't be found until it needs to be. He says that Henry brought his death on himself, but Dawn says that doesn't make it any easier -- him being Faye's grandfather and all. Charlie searched Henry's house and didn't find any crystals. Also, he knows that the Circle is bound. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the crystals or not. Dawn says that they have a limited amount of time. She says that some people in Chance Harbor still remember -- the dangerous witchery from before the Prohibition, I'm sure. Diana sees Charlie leave Dawn's office and is surprised.

Sally and Cassie are together when Luke and Adam walk down the hall towards them. Sally remarks that "he" is so cute and Cassie says that he's taken. Hmm. Sally's talking about Luke, who is indeed a stud. They approach and Adam introduces Luke, who tells Cassie that he's available. Seriously, he says that. Cassie seems really uncomfy, mostly probably that it was her secret written-in-the-stars soul mate/witchraft partner that introduced her to the guy who just asked her out. Adam leaves and Luke asks Cassie to the dance. She asks for a raincheck. This dude does not get many rainchecks. Cassie!

Later, at The Boathouse, Sally and Cassie are going over plans for the dance. Sally figures out, from the staring, that Cassie is into Adam. Afterwards, Adam asks Cassie what she thought of Luke and he seems sort of jealous, which bothers her. So, she goes up to Luke and tells him that she would love to go to dance with him, but she's just going to meet him there. Lame.

As she's walking to her car, which always seems dangerous here, she gets stopped by some dude Zachary who knew her mother. All of the parent-age people in this town are hot. He doesn't know that her mother is dead. He says that he works on a fishing boat and doesn't get back much. He seems bothered to hear that Cassie is living in Chance Harbor and tells her that her mother vowed to never come back. He grabs her arm and says that she's just like her mother. Diana approaches him and witch-throws him against a car. He says that she shouldn't have come there and he's not going to let this happen again. Mysteries!

Diana and Cassie arrive at the abandoned house and, seriously, if these kids can't get things started with this whole witchcraft business, they should seriously think about a career in decorating or maybe even landscape architecture given the number of plants in the place. It's really gorgeous. Faye surprises them because she's already there. She's pissed that she doesn't have powers anymore. Diana tells everyone that Cassie was attacked. Adam knows Zachary. Faye is excited to hear that Diana could use magic, but Diana says it's because more than one of them was there. Lots of rules for this magic. Cassie says that Sally is asking questions about Faye and her accident as well. Faye decides to leave and Melissa says that Diana should have told them that binding would take away their individual powers.

The morning, Charlie wakes Diana and asks her about the Zachary incident. He says that Zachary was imbalanced. She asks about him and Dawn and he says that they are seeing each other. She seems excited. Cassie looks through her mother's yearbook and finds pictures of Zachary with her mother. She tells Diana and they wonder if Zachary was at the fire with the old Circle. Meanwhile, Melissa and Faye are trying to work together to make some magic. They manage to move a cell phone across the floor. Nick is nearby and makes a joke about what the three of them could do together. Melissa tells Faye that she's going to the dance and Faye is stunned. Melissa says that just because their witches doesn't mean they can't go to a dance; but Faye says that it's them not being lame that precludes them from going to dances. Melissa likes dancing. She just wants to be a kid and she wants Faye to come with her. Faye says that she can be alone, because, unlike Melissa, she likes herself. Why is everybody so mean to that girl?

Charlie tells Dawn that Zachary approached Cassie. Dawn says that Amelia was friends with Zachary and may have told him something. She tells Charlie to talk to Zachary without killing him. He says that he told Diana they were dating. She's not really happy about it. But, maybe not unhappy?

Faye is trying to perform a spell when Zachary walks in on her. He knows that they're witches. He asks if they've bound the circle. She's scared. Because she tries to hit him with a book and clearly doesn't have any powers by herself, he knows that they've bound the circle. He really retained a lot.

At the dance, Cassie and Luke meet up and she tells him that she's a loner. Melissa sees that Nick shows up and she's really excited, but he says that he won't dance. Adam makes a crack about Dawn being Diana's new step-mom and she decides to talk to her. She tells her that she's happy about her dad seeing Dawn. She tells him that her dad is a special man. Adam tells Cassie that she looks nice and she tells him not to compliment her. Sally begs the two of them to start dancing, because no one else is. The moment they start dancing the music changes from house music to a sweet ballad. Schizo DJ.

Melissa finds Nick in the hall, selling drugs. This guy. She tries to get him to dance and he asks why she likes him. Faye arrives and tells them that Zachary atttacked her. On the floor, Adam tells Cassie that he understands why she's keeping her distance, but Diana really wants her as a friend. Diana grabs them and tells them about Zachary. In the hall, Faye suggests they break into the school office (benefits of being daugher of the principal). Luke shows up and Diana suggests that she go with him while the others work on "clean up."

Meanwhile, Charlie confronts Zachary. Zachary says that Amelia told him and their friend Heather about everything. Something bad apparently happened to Heather and Zachary blames the Circle. Zachary feels that he has no other choice but to beat the living crap out of Charlie. Then, he takes off to kill one of the people in the Circle.

Diana and Adam find out that Heather and Zachary were boyfriend and girlfriend. It looks like Heather and Amelia were best friends. It looks like she was a victim of the Circle boat fire. Faye and Melissa are keeping guard outside and Melissa says that Nick hates her and she doesn't know why. Faye says that Nick hates Nick -- he's "double damaged" because he lost both of his parents in the fire.

Back on the floor, Luke decides to take a hike because Cassie has been so distracted. She seems surprised, which is surprising. I thought this was what she was trying to make happen. He tells her that he's a pretty good date and it's a shame she didn't give him a chance. I agree. Faye finds Nick and tells him Zachary is after them. She adds that he needs to be good to Melissa because she likes him.

In a dark hallway (great security at this dance, what kind of party atmosphere are they trying to create?), Cassie runs into Zachary. Charlie shows up looking considerably less shit-kicked than he did on the boat. Dawn finds some kids necking in a classroom and tells them to get back to the gym, but with this lighting scheme, I don't know what she could have expected.

The others realize that they don't know where Cassie is just around the time that Zachary finds her and is about to kill her. The Circle makes lockers open and papers fly around and shit. Diana says that she's sorry Heather died, but it isn't their fault. Zachary replies that what Amelia did to Heather is far worse than death. All of them are together now and they drive Zachary up to the ceiling and slam him on the floor. He's still breathing. Dawn shows up and Diana says that he was breaking into lockers. Everyone helps with the lies. He "slipped" on the papers and hit his head. Dawn says that she will take care of it and the kids should go. Then, she calls Charlie.

Later, Faye tells the others that Dawn decided to keep the Zachary thing quiet, so the school wouldn't look bad. Cassie thanks all of them for saving her life and Faye tells her to not get sappy (but she says it with a smile). Cassie wants to know what Amelia did to Heather, but Diana says they should all just go home. Diana wants to make sure that Cassie gets home OK. ALSO, Nick invites Melissa to his house, this time for just talking. And probably sex later. Faye sees it and is happy/bothered. What does she want? Sally witnesses the mess in the hall at school!

At Cassie's house, Diana says that she knows that Cassie is a loner, but she feels like they are better together than apart. Cassie apologizes for being rude to Diana who says that she sees the way Adam looks at her. She says she loves Adam and Cassie says she has nothing to worry about. Awkward! Teary-eyed, Diana says that she likes Cassie and would like to be friends. OK, that actress just nailed that. Diana seemed both entirely human and entirely crazy all in the same moment.

Dawn and Charlie open a car trunk to reveal and bound and gagged and oddly dirty Zachary. Dawn cuts the palm of her hand then places it on Zachary's forehead. She says that he is marked from this point forward and she will always be able to find out where he is. If he ever even looks at one of their children again, she will LITERALLY make his life a living hell, worse than anything Heather has known. Ouch.
