Through surveillance (shout out to the Clam Cam!), Emanda sees it's Victoria's plan to leave the country with Charlotte once she's released from rehab. It wouldn't be any sort of real revenge if the plan didn't involve a little bit of eye-for-an-eye. Victoria took away Ems' mom, so Emanda will take away Victoria's daughter. There are a few complications to both women's plans.
For Emanda, she must figure out how to get Charlotte out of rehab. She does so by giving Daniel a tip that the doctor keeping his sister locked up might be crooked. Lest we forget Daniel has sometimes been known to do the right thing, he barges into the rehab center and threatens a lawsuit if Charlotte isn't set free. This is all part of Ems' plan, as she knows that Charlotte would still have trouble trusting her brother after he did nothing to keep her from being locked up in the first place, and the timing is awful since her inheritance has been swiped by Conrad. Emanda swoops in to offer Charlotte a place to stay just as all of this is going down. She takes Charlotte to see Amily so she'll know she's about to supposedly become a proud aunt. It seems like Charlie's about to ditch her family for Ems and Ams until Daniel does yet another good thing, and offers up his inheritance and Grayson Manor to Charlotte to atone for not standing up for her before. Sigh... if only Spaniel weren't a Grayson.
The complications for Victoria's plan are a little more simple. She doesn't have enough money to pay the White-Haired Man for the fake passports he acquired for her and Charlotte, and Conrad has managed to gain power of attorney over Charlie's inheritance, so she's no help. WHM threatens the safety of both women, so Victoria decides to take matters into her own hands. She reveals to Conrad she's still alive and hatches a plan with him to frame WHM. Victoria has Conrad beat her and handcuff her in her cabin, then has the police on standby after summoning WHM. He manages to escape, but it gives Victoria carte blanche with her family and allows her to come home to Grayson Manor.
On the poor side of things, Jack and Amily are about to get their paternity test results back. Ams knows that Emanda had something to do with Jack's sudden interest in knowing who the baby's father is, so Ems gives the appearance of making it up to her by agreeing to help make sure the test provides a favorable result. And she does just that, but lies to Amily, saying the baby isn't really Jack's just so that Amily will be denied the joy and have to live a life of guilt. Dark. Meanwhile, Declan is still feeling like the weight of the world is on him because of all of this Jack's baby business. He's approached by a classmate who definitely has him marked as someone who can be taken advantage of because of their hardship. Dec agrees to begin storing stolen jewelry for him for cash moneys. There's no way this will blow up in his face and start a grease fire.
During all of this, Nolan has been somewhat aloof because Nolcorp is being audited. He takes the time to actually speak with some of his employees and learns that his accounting analyst, Padma, is a bit of a firecracker. She insists that Nolan hire a chief financial officer, but Nolan only trusts himself with stuff like that. When Padma takes the initiative to present some CFOs they can poach, Nolan gives the job to Padma, and seems a tiny bit intrigued/infatuated. Could this be the start of a beautiful, inappropriate business and pleasure relationship?
At the end of the literal day, Ems is contacted by WHM who has realized she's in possession of surveillance footage of Conrad beating Victoria that could exonerate him from the Queen's claim that he abducted her. They agree to meet at Casa Emily. Ems holds out on giving up the footage until she can get some answers about her mother. WHM isn't entirely forthcoming with the details, but he appears to hint that he didn't follow through with killing Mrs. Clarke when he and Victoria freed her from the psychiatric ward at the hospital. Then, he tries to cut Emanda's throat. It looks like bloody red curtains for her until Takeda's mysterious apprentice shows up and shoots WHM. Welcome to the real show, Apprentice Man.

Want more? The full recap starts right below!INXS' "Never Tear Us Apart" sets the mood. We drop down from a slanted crane shot to a station wagon in sepia transit with Little Amanda in the passenger seat. If this opening were laced with any more nostalgia, it'd be a fully functioning time machine. Emanda voice-over: "For those who believe in resurrection, death is inconsequential. It is not an ending, but rather a new beginning... a second chance. A reunion." Little Amanda watches her mother sing along off-key for a bit and then suddenly grows serious. She remembers her dad saying her mom's sick and she wants to talk about it. Mom's better now that she's with Little Amanda, she says. Dad's not around because they're on vacation. Ems VO continued: "...But the very idea of resurrection is so seductive a concept, it's easy to forget... before you can rise from the dead..." Kara's face morphs into Victoria's to finish the thought: "...you have to spend a few days in Hell." Little Amanda screams. /DREAM.
Emanda awakes on her couch with a concerned Nolan trying to wake her from her nightmare. She naturally reaches for his throat by instinct. Nolan suggests Ems not fall asleep watching horror movies, by which he means surveillance video of Victoria. Also, it's probably not a good idea to nap out in the open where the "White-Haired Mannibal Lector" can easily attack. Emanda has a hunch that he's not going to kill her, and that Victoria is lying about her ties to the government. Somehow, Charlotte is part of Victoria's plan, she thinks. Nolan reminds Ems that Charlie's locked away in "Dr. Doom's sober house." Man... Nolan is really pushing it this morning. Charlotte won't be there for long, Ems says before getting up to leave.
Grayson Manor. We get a gratuitous, lingering trail shot of Ashley's butt in a tennis skirt as she enters Daniel's office. She invites him out for a tennis match, but Daniel's poring over documents for a quarterly report that's due out this afternoon. He's concerned because the company's assets don't match its inflated earnings. It's likely his father is up to no good. At this suggestion, Ash suddenly gets overly seductive about her invitation for a tennis match. She stops just short of offering to show him her forehand. Lucky for Dan (and us), his phone rings with a call from Emanda. He asks Ash for some privacy to take it. Ems immediately starts in with her overly concerned yet naive tone. She says that Charlotte whispered to her at the Memorial Day auction that she was afraid of her doctor, so she investigated Dr. Thomas. Ems mentions the blemishes on his background check and suggests that maybe Charlotte's test results were faked, instantly triggering Dan's "Oh shit" face. He immediately brings up a Google knock-off to see what he can find on Dr. Thomas, while asking Ems to send him all the info she found on him. Daniel thanks Emanda and they hang up. The phone conversation ended with Ems lingering out on her front porch. We cut to a monocular view of someone spying on her. It's Apprentice Man, learning the ropes of proper surveillance.
Cliffside Home Addiction Recovery Center. Dr. Thomas has three exit questions for Charlotte. Number one: "Do your thoughts often feel clouded or confusing?" Not since she stopped using. Number two: "Do you believe that you can see or hear things others cannot?" Charlotte's bad at this game. She starts to rail about the fact nobody can see her father's machinations that have kept her locked up against her will. Knowing full well she's losing, Charlie demands Dr. Thomas ask the final question. "Do you believe others are plotting against you?" Well... shit. Charlotte: "..."
Ems comes back inside Casa Emily to find Nolan calling her over to the surveillance laptop because WHM is in the middle of paying Victoria a visit. He's impatient because he's kept the Initiative off Victoria's trail for months and he's upheld his end of the bargain. WHM tosses her a manila envelope with two passports. The photos are of her and Charlotte with the names being Veronica and Samantha Clarke. Cute, WHM. Emanda tells Nolan she won't allow Victoria to escape with her sister. Half-sister, Ems. Half-sister. WHM isn't too pleased to hear that Victoria can't afford to pay him for his work until Charlotte gets her hands on her inheritance. He snatches Victoria's fake passport, reminds her that it's really easy to dispose of a woman who's already dead and a drug addict and leaves. Emanda thinks the punishment should fit the crime. Victoria took away her mother, so she'll take away the Queen's daughter.
Judicial 3D title card and commercials
Docks. Declan cleans up The Amanda when he's met by some kid who looks like he's straight out of an American Eagle catalogue. He's Trey Chandler from study hall. Trey throws out an invitation to come sailing with some classmates to a beach where there'll be cute girls in bikinis, but Dec is forever burdened with the working man's life. He declines. "Sucks to be you," Trey throws at Dec as he walks away. Declan's well aware of how much it sucks to be him. Trey's overly friendly smile fades into a stare of daggers into Dec's back when he walks away. What could he possibly want with our favorite grease puddle?
Nolan video conferences into his boardroom, which looks more like an IKEA think tank than anything. It's a rare communication from him, but he's up for the occasion since Nolcorp is being audited. He wants answers. All years of the company's existence are being investigated for concerns over his offshore holdings, says his accounting analyst, Padma Lahari, whom he's never met. The very fact he has no idea who she is speaks volumes of why they're in their predicament, she says. And just like that we know exactly what kind of plucky, speak-her-mind character this will be. She suggests that this is a good time for Nolan to look into hiring a chief financial officer, but Nolan doesn't want to hear all that noise. "I may be a control freak, but that is why we're where we are today," Nolan tries to put his foot down. "You mean being audited?" Padma zings. Yup. It's gonna be like that. Nolan's only response is that they should reconvene tomorrow.
Ems comes downstairs at Casa Emily, where Nolan has just finished his conference call. "I don't think my employees have any respect for me," he says. "Why would they? You're not wearing pants," Ems retorts. We see that Nolan is, in fact, in his boxers with his waist perfectly at kitchen counter level. Laugh track. Nolan has no shame because he once did an interview with Katie Couric butt naked from his jacuzzi. Emanda lets this sink in for a minute and asks Nolan how house hunting is coming along. Louder laugh track. As much as Ems would love to stick around and be shticky, she has to go break Charlotte out of rehab. She asks Nolan to keep an eye on Victoria while she's gone. As Emanda is walking out of the house, Amily shows up to ask what she said to Jack since she's sure it's why he asked for a paternity test. Ams admits that she had a one-night stand, but thinks the baby could still be Jack's. She asks for Emanda's blessing if the results prove Jack's the father, and for Ems to stop undermining the possibility that Jack could love Amily back. Ems agrees, and asks to know what lab Amily is using so she can ensure the results, but she also needs a favor.
Conrad sits across from a lawyer in his office at Grayson Global. He says it's unfortunate it's come to this, but his daughter has grown self-destructive and forced his hand. The lawyer passes along condolences from the judge and Conrad has the nerve to compare himself to Job... you know, from the Bible. Conrad signs the contract that grants him control over Charlotte's inheritance. Ashley enters the office as the lawyer leaves. She's met with questions about Daniel. All she can offer up is that she tried to distract Dan from his findings about the company's finances, but it didn't work. Conrad orders her to keep Dan away from their investors meeting. Conrad: "Where is he now?"
Cut to Dan barging into CHARC. He finds Dr. Thomas and brushes off his friendly invitation to step into his office. Dan says he just got off the phone with his family lawyer and knows that Dr. Thomas testified to Charlotte's mental incompetence. Well... she did kinda act stupid for a while, didn't she? Dr. Thomas insists Charlotte is a sick girl. Daniel: "What's sickening is how far you and my father went to pull this scam. Not that you're a stranger to abuse of power. [Daniel holds up a neatly bound background check he probably had printed at the UPS Store.] Now, whatever he's paying you for your lies, believe me, it won't offset the lawsuit I'll slap on you unless you get on the phone to Judge Morris and recant that evaluation immediately." Dr. Thomas doesn't blink at all before agreeing to make the phone call. Ems watches from around the corner intently.
Upstairs, Dan tells his sister to pack her things without even saying hi. He explains that their father was trying to get his hands on her inheritance. Charlotte's smile fades when Daniel says he found out too late to do anything about it and tries to get her to leave with him anyway. The timing of this is all sketch to Charlotte. Plus, Daniel did nothing to stop her from being locked up in the first place. Emanda wanders into the room just as Charlotte is telling her brother to get out. Dan mouths, "Thank you" to Ems and leaves. Charlotte asks for a ride to see her mother. Well, that worked out.
Stowaway. Dec has taken it upon himself to mess with those damned pipes. He busts one open and gets sprayed in the face with water as Jack and Amily walk in. Completely innocuously, Jack reminds his brother that he should shut off the water before working with the pipes, but it's enough to set off Dec on a tirade about being forgetful just like Jack's been. He asks where the hell Jack's been. Amily speaks up for him that they were at a baby check-up. Ams gets a text from Emanda to meet ASAP, so she excuses herself. With Amily out of the room, Jack admits to Dec that they just came from getting a paternity test. That gets a bit of a rise out of Dec. He insists that if it turns out Amily lied, this would be a good opportunity for Jack to get their lives back on track. It's sad, but true.
Driving Charlotte to see Victoria, in a shot that somewhat mirrors the opening dream scene, Ems offers to take Charlie home or give her a place to stay. That's nice and all, but Charlie's got plans to leave the country with her mother even though neither of them have any money now. Ems strategically plants the idea that Victoria shouldn't care about the money as long as she has her daughter. Knowing that she won't convince Charlotte to stay with her rather than Victoria, she pulls out her ace in the hole, and says there's something she'd been wanting to tell her. It's better said by Charlotte's sister, though. They arrive at the beach and can see Amily standing with the burden or pregnancy from where they've parked. Charlotte flips at the good news that she's going to be an aunt. She hops out of the car to go give Amily a hug. Emanda watches this from the driver seat, registering some discomfort.
Commercials
The Queen's Cabin. Victoria opens Charlotte's fake passport and stares longingly. Sometimes, wishing is all you need. There's a knock at the door from Charlotte. They share a heartfelt hug, but the warm feelings don't last very long when Charlotte reveals Conrad took her inheritance. Victoria insists they need that money to survive. Adding to the annoyance, Charlotte says Amanda Clarke's back in town and she's pregnant. Nolan is keeping Emanda updated on the surveillance by phone. Ems asks if Victoria's heart stopped when she heard Amanda's in town. Charlotte opens up her bag to reveal she stole a whole bunch of silver candle holders and such that they should be able to sell to help get by for the time being. The Queen is not impressed. Remember that idea Emanda planted in Charlotte earlier about her mother only caring about having her daughter back? That. Charlie calls out her mother about it. Victoria's unable to express the truth that both their lives are in danger and has to accept the accusation to save her daughter. She slyly hides the envelope with Charlotte's fake passport and, as she holds back tears, agrees that all she's cared about all along is the money. Charlotte calls her mother a monster and leaves. As Charlie leaves the cabin, Nolan notes over the phone how tragic it is that Victoria has push her away to save her. Ems isn't sold that a mother would give up her daughter so easily. Charlotte hops in Ems' car and asks if they can just go.
Nolan, speaking in a British accent (naturally), as he watches Victoria pace back and forth: "Oh and the poor, lonely panther came to realize she would never return to the jungle from whence she came." Padma interrupts Nolan's awkward alone moment, asking from the open front door if he spends his days watching nature channel videos. She's undergone somewhat of a makeover, shedding the nerdy accounting analyst professional attire and glasses. Nolan doesn't even recognize her now that she's in 3D. Insubordination aside, she insists Nolan needs a CFO. She sent him an email with links to some candidates she thinks they can poach, but Nolan would rather demonstrate his power (and hide that he's been watching surveillance of a woman who's supposedly dead), so he shuts his laptop. Padma offers to show him on her tablet. She wins, but Nolan needs her to turn around so he can put on some pants. Rimshot, laugh track and... scene.
Grayson Global. Conrad gets the investors meeting started by talking about the calculated risks they've taken to get back to all that onward and upward business. Apprentice Man is there sitting on the board. Good for him. Daniel barges in, and demands a word with his father. They go out into the hall together where Dan starts in on his father about how this is the most repulsive thing he's ever done, manipulating a teenage girl. Apprentice Man watches intently from the boardroom. Conrad says what's done is done and if Dan had just trusted him, he wouldn't have had to do what he did. "This is far from over," Dan clichés before walking off. Conrad's phone rings from a blocked number. It's Victoria. Conrad can't believe it. Victoria: "The few moments are going to be the most important seconds of your miserable life. You're going to do exactly as I say, or I will haunt you all the way to your last pathetic day on earth."
Commercials
Queen's Cabin. Victoria opens the door to greet Conrad. "So, it's true. Even the devil himself didn't want you," Conrad says with genuine bewilderment. Victoria takes exception to Conrad acting like he didn't try to have her killed. Conrad insists he warned her, and she wouldn't have heeded a more explicit warning anyway. Agree to disagree. Victoria opens up the bag she had Conrad bring from home and dumps out its contents. Handcuffs, leather gloves, a leather paddle... spurs?! Uh... Guys? Victoria: "Hit me." Guys?! Conrad's confused, but Victoria's not backing down from her request. This is his one chance, so he better hit her like a man, Victoria says. "With pleasure," Conrad's face turns to glee and he begins taking off his suit jacket. I feel a little odd admitting this, but the animosity here is actually kinda hot.
A pretty outdoor dinner setting is where we find Padma and Nolan. She's rattling off CFO candidates. Nolan's not impressed by one that managed a $6 billion company, because that's like a lemonade stand to him. Also, none of these candidates are him. Touché. At her wits end, Padma explains that Nolan shouldn't look at it as losing control, but instead gaining control over someone to do things he doesn't want to do. Power trip. Now you're talking Nolan's language. Obviously, the thing out of Nolan's mouth is that it should be Padma he hires as CFO. He doesn't want someone with leadership experience; he wants a partner... whom he can control. Don't we all? Nolan breaks it down. She's not leaving until he hires a CFO and he's not leaving until she accepts his offer.
Stowaway upstairs. Jack takes a sip from a beer alone. Ams comes in looking for him, and finds him sitting there with an unopened envelope -- the test results. Amily takes a seat to Jack and opens it. She does a good job of having a natural reaction when she reads the results that Jack's the father. No Maury jokes here. Almost like he's snapped back to being the old Jack suddenly, he gives a sweet thank you to Amily for even doing this test for him. She'd do anything for him, she says. He'd do anything for her. Good, because she wants him to go get her a popsicle. Cute. While Jack's in the kitchen, Ams calls Emanda, and reports that he just saw the results. She asks Emanda to please say they were real. Ems just says, "Sorry. I wish I could." Amily's heart breaks, but she holds it together, knowing she'll have to hide it from Jack when he comes back in the room with a popsicle. Nobody should ever be sad when they're getting a popsicle.
Dan knocks on Charlotte's bedroom door. She's packing to go stay with Ems, she says defiantly. Dan has another UPS Store book in his hand. Charlotte asks what it is. Daniel went and opened a new trust fund for Charlie that Conrad can't access, and he transferred his inheritance into it for her. He's also giving her full ownership of Grayson Manor and his car. Charlotte's completely sideswiped. She can only muster a, "Why?" Dan says that when she was born, he promised their mother he'd be nice to her, and he wants to keep that promise. Ashley walks by as Dan says he's moving out to the pool house and she interrupts to ask what this is all about. They'll talk about it later, he says. Charlotte says she's going to unpack and they hug it out. Ash's smile instantly wipes off when Dan walks out with her.
WHM walks up on the Queen's Cabin at night. He draws his gun before entering the completely darkened shack. He flips on the light and is surprised to find Victoria beaten, bloodied and handcuffed to a cabinet. WHM asks who did this. Victoria says he did and advises him to start running. WHM thinks about pulling the trigger, but stops short, spotting the Clam Cam. He really has a nose for surveillance cameras, I guess. He hears sirens, so he takes off running. Dozens of cop cars descend on the location, but WHM manages to escape before Conrad can frantically lead the police into the cabin like the worried husband he's supposed to be.
Ems comes home to an empty house. The first thing she does is pop open the surveillance laptop, which to her surprise is giving her a glimpse into Victoria and Conrad talking to authorities. Conrad can't believe they let WHM get away. Victoria refuses a hospital trip, but wants her personal physician to meet her at home. "It's a miracle what this woman can endure." Conrad says. Ems: "Son of a bitch."

Grayson Manor. Ashley bitches out Dan about giving up everything to Charlotte. Before he can really explain, Conrad barges in with Victoria. Dan doesn't know what to make of suddenly seeing his mother alive and being able to hug her. His brow is perpetually furrowed. A detective asks to take Conrad's official statement, and Conrad suggests Dan come with him. With the boys out of the room, Victoria takes Charlotte aside to explain why she pushed her away earlier and to get her pledge that she won't let her father know that she knew Victoria was alive all along. The only loose end is Emanda. Charlotte admits that Ems knows everything, so Victoria demands that Charlotte bring Emanda to Grayson Manor. In the study, Conrad explains to the detective that WHM was bleeding him dry with his ransom demands. Charlotte's inheritance was the last of it. Daniel is beside himself hearing this. Why didn't his father at least tell him his mom was alive? Conrad is adamant that it was for Victoria's protection from this lunatic that he kept these secrets. They both turn to see Victoria giving a description of WHM to a police sketch artist.
Trey Chandler finds Declan out behind the Stowaway throwing out the trash. He asks for a favor. He wants to hide something from his parents and hopes Dec can hold onto it for him. Trey pulls out a very expensive looking piece of jewelry. He'll pay Dec $500 to hold onto it for him. Dec takes it without hesitating. There's plenty more where that came from, Trey says. Things like this never go wrong.
Emanda arrives at Grayson Manor. Charlotte lets her in and asks if the Graysons can trust her with their secrets. Ems sees how important this is to Charlotte, so she asks to speak with Victoria. Dan walks in on Ems offering her further assistance to Victoria at least for the summer. Dan offers to walk Emanda out. He thanks her for being a good friend to the family despite her and Victoria never getting along. Ems: "Well, tragedy has a way of bringing people back together." She suggests Dan go be with his family right now. Just then, her phone rings from blocked caller. WHM: "You have something I need." Emanda takes a look over at the Graysons huddled together in the parlor. "Every frame of it. You know where to find me," Ems says before hanging up and walking out of Grayson Manor.

As Emanda gets home, Nolan defends himself for not being around when Victoria's plan was sprung and it goes something like this: "Ever since you came back, and even before that, it's like you just expect me to be your fashionably dressed, technologically savvy sidekick." And you've done so admirably, Nolan. Ems agrees that he should probably have a life of his own. Nolan thinks he's getting the shaft for Charlotte, but it's the part of the episode where Ems recaps the state of her revenge. Charlie's home with Victoria and she lied to Amily about the baby not being Jack's. "That's dark, even for you," Nolan points out. Ems tells Nolan he can't stay there tonight. She needs the house to herself... for revenge things.
Jack pours a drink at the bar. It's just him and Dec. Jack's ready to give his brother the good news, but Dec already knows the results because Jack left them lying around. Dec genuinely congratulates his brother. Also, he's decided he's the one that's the burden, not Amily. As soon as he can save up some money, he's moving out. Jack doesn't know about the little operation Dec has going with Trey, so he assumes it won't be any time soon. Amily comes downstairs to say they need to turn on the TV. There's a live news report about Victoria being found alive. Ams: "Looks like the bitch is back."
Ems watches her recorded surveillance footage of Conrad hitting Victoria. She pauses it and begins talking to WHM, who we see has been standing on the other side of the room. The video will exonerate him, she says, but she'll only give it to him in exchange for information about her mother. WHM reminisces that Emanda's mother was the only one who could've proven David Clarke's innocence since she was aware of the nature of his relationship with Victoria. FLASHBACK: Victoria signs in as Charlotte Clarke at the hospital. She takes a seat to Kara, who's restrained with leather straps. Kara: "You stole my husband, you whore." Victoria tries to convince Kara that David was a terrorist, but she's not buying it. WHM is there with Victoria. She introduces him as Federal Agent Gordon Murphy. Victoria explains that he will be arresting David for his role in destroying a jetliner, as he frees Kara from her restraints. Her safety is dependent on whether she'll allow them to help her, Victoria says. Kara complies. EMs VO: "For those who believe in the resurrection, death is inconsequential." /FLASHBACK. Emanda asks if WHM killed her. It was the plan... but he doesn't always follow plans, he says. Emanda still won't know what he did to her though, because he's going to pull a knife and try to slit her throat. Emanda struggles to keep the blade from making the cut. Ems VO continued: "In the resurrection, those that were dead live, and those who live believe they shall never die." Gunshot. WHM goes rigid and falls to the floor, revealing Apprentice Man in the background with gun drawn. He's really making a name for himself, this Apprentice Man.
