Do you think they'll take Frankie out of the opening credits? That would mean that they shot all new group shots and everything. I guess if they were going to, it would have been done this week, right?
The roommates look through photos from their trip to Greece. Randy thinks they should send some of the pictures to Frankie. Because she was such a delight while they were on vacation? Cameran asks Randy if he thinks they will get a new roommate. Randy doesn't know. In a confessional, Cameran says that she would rather not have a new roommate. Brad says that adding another person will change things a lot, and offers up the example of Frankie's job, which was apparently to take out the garbage. In a confessional, Brad says that they couldn't find anyone like Frankie to take her place. But why would you want to? Since when is Brad such a big Frankie fan? Randy says that a new person could be really amazing, and make their final six weeks great. Cameran doubts it, and says that she will automatically hate a new person. Nice. Randy interviews that he will welcome a new person with open arms. Brad comes up with the greatest idea of all time when he suggests that their new roommate could be an ape that would just run around and break shit. The ratings would go through the roof! Please let one of the roommates in Philly be a monkey.
Brad calls Andrea. Brad interviews that he misses Andrea, and that he knows they had a good relationship back home. Andrea answers the phone sleepily, and Brad asks if he woke her. Cameran calls to Brad from the hot tub and tells him to join her. Brad smiles, realizing that he's totally busted. Andrea asks about it, and Brad says he's probably not going in. Andrea thinks he's hiding things from her. Brad interviews that he's been trying to convince Andrea that nothing's going on between him and Cameran, and that the hot tub situation didn't help. Andrea starts arguing that Brad is going in the hot tub with Cameran, and Brad denies it. Brad interviews that it's a problem that Andrea doesn't trust him. Yeah, Brad has really given her many reasons to trust him. Andrea says that she doesn't like Cameran, because she's so fake on the phone and calls her "Annie." Andrea refers to Cameran as "the whore," and Brad totally cracks up and looks at the camera. Cameran sits alone in the hot tub.
“ Andrea says that she had a dream that the producers asked her to be the new roommate, and that she couldn't tell Brad, so she just showed up as a surprise. Of course, the producers didn't do that, because that would have actually been interesting. ”
A guy identified only as "Courier" walks into the house with a package. Like we wouldn't figure out who he was when he delivered the package? Robin opens the envelope and yells that they're getting a new roommate. The girls scream. Jacquese grabs the paper and reads that three potential roommates will visit the house today, and that they get to choose which one they want. He adds, "Keep in mind that this is an important decision and should not be based just on a single conversation." So are the producers trying to get them to have multiple rounds of interviews? I didn't get that. Jacquese says something about how people will be fake in interviews, and that they need to see through that. Jacquese interviews that he does want another roommate to "bring a new energy to the house." In other words, it's one more person that he can spy on while he or she is having sex. Jacquese concludes that they have to call all three candidates tomorrow morning and relay their decision. They discuss whether the candidates will be male or female, and Jamie says that sex shouldn't play into their decision. Robin points out that the new person will be her new roommate. Brad thinks that the voting will split down sex lines, and end up a tie.
Brad talks to Andrea on the phone again. Every time they show that phone room, I am totally disgusted by the blue carpet in there, which clearly hasn't been vacuumed in weeks. It's so dirty. Anyway, Andrea says that she had a dream that the producers asked her to be the new roommate, and that she couldn't tell Brad, so she just showed up as a surprise. Of course, the producers didn't do that, because that would have actually been interesting. Andrea baits Brad by saying that he probably wants another female roommate. Brad responds to her bullshit by saying he doesn't. In a confessional, Brad says that he has no idea what kinds of people will walk through the door.
Cut to some Lenny Kravitz-looking dude walking up to the house. The girls totally spy on him, and Brad hangs up with Andrea to get in on the action. Cameran calls everyone together, and the guy knocks on the door.
After the commercials, the guy walks in the door. Cameran greets him, and the guy is introduced as Bobby, age twenty-four, from Austin, Texas. Cameran apologizes for the dirtiness of the house. So they couldn't clean it because...? Brad and Bobby do some sort of awkward, complicated handshake. Bobby immediately notes that it smells like fish in there. Way to win over your potential roommates. "Wow, your house stinks. Can I live here?" Bobby says that he's nervous, and proceeds to answer every question that they ask with "joke" answers, and I put that word in quotes because his answers aren't remotely funny. He's trying way too hard. Brad interviews that Bobby is "a cool cat" with "a real unique style" and "a positive vibe." Jacquese stares at Bobby with the biggest look of disgust on his face. Jacquese interviews that there's something about Bobby that he doesn't like. Maybe because, like Jacquese, Bobby tries way too hard to be the funny one? Bobby says that he wants to be a roommate so that he can be part of something cool and something big. Jamie interviews that it made her feel like Bobby isn't there to get to know six strangers. I've said it before and I'll say it again: if you're really on the show to get to know new people, why not just move into a house with six strangers, and no cameras? That's such bullshit. It's not like Jamie went and joined the Peace Corps in order to experience new things.
Anyway, the interview continues, and then Bobby joins the other men outside to play some basketball. Jamie says that she wants to see the other candidates, and Robin says that she likes Bobby. Meanwhile, Bobby asks the other guys how they get along with the ladies. Jacquese and Randy mutter something about a collar that I totally don't understand. The roommates tell Bobby that he should return that evening for a party. Jamie interviews that she wants to see how each candidate reacts in a more casual atmosphere.
The second candidate shows up. He's Brad, age twenty-three, from Minneapolis. Everyone laughs when they find out his name, and he says that they can call him something else if they want. Cameran asks what his initials are, and he says that they are B.J. Oh, that's unfortunate. I'm just going to call him Brad2 for the purposes of this recap. Brad2 says that he has had a girlfriend at home for a year and a half, and that she's not returning his phone calls since he auditioned for the show. Sound like any other Brad we know? Brad says that the situation puts "a damper on relationships." Jamie interviews that Brad2 seems a lot more calm than Bobby. Robin shows Brad2 her room, which is "very girly." Jamie shows Brad2 to the door and invites him to return for the party that night.
After Brad2 has left, Brad is all pouty because he doesn't want someone else in the house with his name. What? Why does that even matter? It's not like he's Jacquese. I have to imagine that Brad has dealt with having someone else with the same name in his life before. Cameran can't believe Brad feels that way. The editors show a lamp with a scary surfer figure on it, and then do a split screen and show the same figure again. Get it? Two Brads? I don't know. That was dumb.
The third candidate walks up and knocks on the door. This is Charlie, age eighteen, from Sun Valley, Idaho. He sits down to Randy, and it immediately becomes obvious that he looks just like Randy Junior, if Randy had a giant zit on his face. Oh, Charlie. Maybe it was the stress. Or the lack of washing. I'm just saying, he's pretty greasy-looking. Charlie says that he was born in Yugoslavia and went to boarding school. Randy also went to boarding school! Given that this kid is Randy's clone, and Brad2 was Brad's clone, do you think they were trying to make Bobby into Jacquese's clone? Even though the only things they really have in common is that they're both black, and they both try too hard to be funny? What a weird methodology. But if they did it on purpose, I kind of applaud them, because at least it was sort of interesting. Charlie explains that he plays a bunch of musical instruments and is in a band, and that he likes country music. Robin interviews that she doesn't get any vibe from Charlie, and that he seems nervous. Charlie shakes everyone's hands and walks out.
