Previously on The Real World: Steven said he would only have sex with Brynn if she were walking around naked and asked him to come do her. Surprisingly, Brynn didn't stand up and shed her clothes immediately. Brynn said that Steven rejected her, and that she doesn't handle rejection well. Steven and Trishelle made out, and Brynn was jealous.
Steven and Trishelle "dance" at Rain. It's less like dancing and more like grinding against each other sexually. In an interview, Trishelle says that she and Steven have a connection, and that when they are together, it's like there is no one else in the world. Which, of course, completely excuses the fact that they're humping in public, like, all the time. Didn't the rest of the world move past that phase at age seventeen? In an interview, Steven says that Trishelle is "beautiful and smiling," which is code for "vacuous and blank-eyed." Steven also thinks that Trishelle has a positive aura, and adds that "her breasts are always on my mind." At least he was honest with that last part. In an interview, Frank lets us know that Brynn is jealous of Steven and Trishelle, and that she feels that by grinding with each other, they're throwing it in her face. Well, hers and everyone else's, but I think Brynn needs to be reminded that the world doesn't revolve around her. I don't think they're grinding to make Brynn jealous. I think they're grinding because they like to fuck each other. I doubt Brynn ever enters their minds except to think, "Hey, I hope Brynn doesn't mind if we have sex all night while she's asleep in the bed. And I hope she doesn't try to join in again, because that was just annoying." On the dance floor, Trishelle pushes Steven's face into her breasts. This is juxtaposed with footage of Brynn leaning on a railing above the dance floor, so we're supposed to think that she's just standing there, staring at them, all stalker-like. In the last shot of Trishelle, she is so dead-eyed and drunk or high or something that it scares me. It's not a pretty look, for her or anyone.
Cut to the suite, where Trishelle and Steven make out in bed. Out in the living room, the other roommates plus some random guests who are never introduced or explained discuss the fact that Trishelle and Steven don't even talk to each other during the day and then they screw all night. Brynn crawls into bed with Steven and Trishelle and tells them that she's about to ruin their night, because she's a little jealous. Trishelle is all, "Whyy-yyyy?" Brynn says that she's upset that someone else is "getting action." Brynn is working the always hot look of a big plastic cup of beer and a cigarette behind the ear. Sex-ay. In an interview, Brynn says that she's a very jealous person, and that she gets jealous when people get things that she wants. I don't know if "jealous" is the best adjective for her, then. Try "self-absorbed," or "egocentric." I would even accept "selfish." But jealousy is the theme of this episode, so jealousy it shall be. Well, jealousy, and flatware. Steven claims that the room is "an action-free zone." Meanwhile, he's clearly doing something to Trishelle under the covers and I just threw up all over my keyboard so excuse me while I run out to Staples and get a new one. Okay, I'm back. In an interview, Brynn says that she is jealous of Steven and Trishelle because she wanted Steven to hook up with her first. So, she didn't want a relationship with Steven. She just wanted Trishelle to get sloppy seconds. Interesting.
Save the Drama for Your Mama
“ Frank tells everyone that he needs to take a shower, because he feels gross. Welcome to my recapping world, Frank. Every week, it just gets grosser and grosser. ”
Oh, dear. The Comic Sans Crap-Ass Closed Captioning Font is back. Over a night-vision shot of Trishelle and Steven in bed, we hear (and read) Trishelle say that she thinks Brynn is jealous of them. Wow, that Trishelle is so perceptive! How did she ever figure that one out? Could it be...the fact that Brynn just told them that she's jealous? In an interview, Trishelle says she feels bad that Brynn is uncomfortable having her and Steven sleeping in the room, but not bad enough to, you know, stop it. Okay, she didn't say that last part, but she clearly meant it. Anyway, the lovebirds move to Steven's room. The only problem is that Frank is sleeping in there. Trishelle and Steven start doing it, and Frank tosses and turns and finally gets up. In an interview, Frank says that the only thing he doesn't like about people having sex in his room is that it wakes him up. That's the only thing he doesn't like? He doesn't mind that it's fucking rude, and annoying, and uncomfortable as hell? Hey, I can understand that young, horny, beginning-of-a-relationship thing. But are they animals? They can't hold off for one night? Why do I even bother trying to explain these things? Frank concludes, "When it wakes up Frank, that's when he gets upset." Oh, referring to himself in the third person earns Frank a serious deduction. How can anyone do that with a straight face since that episode of Seinfeld with Jimmy? The other roommates ask Frank if the moaning was keeping him awake, and Frank says that it was actually the slapping. Okay, that was really more than anyone needed to know. Not that Trishelle and Steven aren't asking for it, but did Frank really have to say it? Because this keyboard is only a few paragraphs old, and I really can't afford to buy another one just yet.
Back in the bedroom, Trishelle and Steven are totally doing it and yet also having a Comic Sans Crap-Ass Closed Captioning Conversation. Trishelle says that Frank is saying something about them. Steven asks if they should go into a different room, and then suggests that they go in the confessional but not turn on the camera. Ah, he learned something from Danny in New Orleans. Frank tells everyone that he needs to take a shower, because he feels gross. Welcome to my recapping world, Frank. Every week, it just gets grosser and grosser. Trishelle and Steven stand up, wrapped in blankets. Trishelle giggles annoyingly and asks Steven if he's drunk.
Trishelle and Steven try to sneak into the confessional. Steven, of course, has to call attention to himself by yelling out an apology to Frank. Irulan gets upset that they are going to have sex in the confessional, and yells at them to "keep it in [their] own room!" She groans in frustration and disgust. Welcome to my recapping world, Irulan. It's all frustration and disgust, disgust and frustration. In an interview, Irulan says that Brynn is used to being "top dog," and that "the situation with Steven and Trishelle challenges her and makes her feel like she's second best or...not even second-best." Well, thanks, Dr. Phil. I'm glad that Irulan feels qualified to psychoanalyze Brynn after living with her for, like, two weeks. Also, I just noticed that one of the random people eating with the other roommates looks like Chelsea Clinton before her big Versace makeover.
Some other day, Brynn and Trishelle walk through the parking garage. They chat about how beautiful the weather is. Trishelle says that their lives are perfect, and then adds, "Almost." Brynn talks really fast and slurs something about how she was upset when she saw Steve and Trishelle together. Trishelle thinks Brynn wanted the room to herself. Brynn says that wasn't it. Trishelle guesses, "You was hoping to hook up?" Is that even a sentence? In an interview, Trishelle says that she's afraid that Brynn is mad at her for hooking up with Steve. Trishelle. She's just not very bright. She doesn't even make me angry. She just makes me sad. Trishelle says that she told Steve that maybe they shouldn't hook up because of Brynn, and that he didn't know what she was talking about. Brynn says that Steven doesn't know how she feels. Trishelle asks if Brynn really wants to hook up with Steve. Brynn says that she doesn't. In an interview, Trishelle looks really just godawful and puffy as she says that she doesn't trust Brynn to tell the truth on this issue.
Frank and Steve take a break from working out to gossip a bit. Frank says that Brynn is pissed off. Steve adds that Trishelle told Brynn that Steve might move into their room. She did? He might? Frank says that he talked to Steven about switching rooms, and then mentioned it to someone else. Brynn? I don't know. This whole conversation is confusing. All of Frank's conversations are confusing because he's a gossip, so they're mostly like, "So then Trishelle told me that Brynn said that Irulan wanted to know if Arissa thought that Alton wanted to go out tonight." In an interview, Frank says he thought that since Trishelle and Steven are having sex all the time, it would make sense if Brynn moved in with him, letting Trishelle and Steve room together. Makes sense to me! Frank tells Steven that Brynn is pissed that Steve and Trishelle are together, and also that she has to move all of her stuff into another room. Seriously. Haven't they been there, like, two weeks? True, Brynn shouldn't have to move, but if the alternative is listening to Steven slap Trishelle's ass nightly, I think I would bust out the cardboard boxes and packing tape and get the hell out. In an interview, Frank says that Brynn has been jealous for a while now, and that she's like a volcano about to erupt.
Frank talks on the phone to Emily, his ex-girlfriend. He tells her that everyone gets along pretty well, but you can see "little blisters that are going to develop into huge open wounds." Oh, so he also has access to Steven's medical records? Sorry, that was disgusting. But I couldn't let something like that just sit there. Out in the kitchen, Brynn tells Steven that Trishelle can move into his room, but that Steven can't move into theirs. Steven doesn't think that makes sense. Why does it make less sense than Brynn moving? It doesn't make more sense, but it doesn't make less. Brynn says tightly that it makes sense to her: since Steven is the one having sex, they can move it into his room. So is Trishelle not participating in this sex? Because by Brynn's logic, she must not be, or they could move into Trishelle's room just as easily. Steven thinks that Brynn is speaking to him rudely. Brynn tells Steven to "deal with it." Also, Brynn is wearing a strappy dress, and has her hair in pigtails. This is important in a minute. Steven tells her that she's crazy. In an interview, Brynn says that she and Steve have never really been cool with each other.
Then comes the haphazard editing to try to cover up the fact that once a-fucking gain, B/M didn't get the crucial footage on tape. Cut to Frank on the phone. Cut to Steve, wearing a gray t-shirt, asking Brynn what's wrong with her. Cut to Steven, in an interview, with hair that comes to a perfect point in the front, saying that every time Brynn opens her mouth, she's rude, and she needs to leave him alone. Cut to Brynn rubbing her eyes. Cut to the outside of the casino. I don't know. I'm not sure if they're trying to let us know that some time passed or something. Anyway, when we return inside, it's a totally different day and time. Suddenly, Steve is wearing a black polo shirt and asking Brynn why she's being a bitch to him, since he didn't do anything. Frank is still ostensibly on the phone with Emily, so either he was on the phone for, like, eight hours, or else, while he was on the phone, everyone ran off and changed clothes and hairstyles for a funny joke. Or there's a bit of time-screwery going on with the editing. They want you to think that the "you're being rude/deal with it" conversation was the prelude to the incident that follows, when it totally wasn't. In conclusion: whatever
Brynn walks down the hall wearing a one-shouldered dress with her hair up in multiple knots. She tells Arissulan (it's just easier to type than both names) that she was just standing there and Steven started calling her names. Frank tells Emily (if that is even whom he's still talking to) that he has to go. Because there is gossip to be had, and Frank must sniff it out! Frank walks out and encounters Steve and Trishelle first. Here's Steven's explanation of the incident: "Frank, did you hear what happened? She comes in here, she's like, 'Why are you laughing?' And then she just went off, she's like, 'I just don't like you,' and I was like, 'What? What are your reasons?'" At this point, Steven seems to be kind of laughing it off. And since I have no idea what he just said, I don't know if that's an appropriate reaction. Brynn tells Arrisulan that Steve called her a bitch, so she got in his face and told him not to do that. He persisted in calling her stupid, so she threw a fork and hit him in the arm. She threw a what? A fork? Are you fucking kidding me? I burst out laughing at this point, and really didn't stop until the end of the episode, because it was just all so fucking ridiculous.
Alton tells someone that Brynn threw a fork. Well, I'm glad Alton saw it, since they didn't get it on camera. At least we have a fairly neutral and impartial observer. In an interview, Alton says that Brynn threw a fork, and that it hit Steve in the arm. But it could have hit him in the face! Or the eye! Or it could have gotten stuck in his nostril! Or what if it stuck in one of his fingers and then he got gangrene and had to get his finger amputated, and what if it wasn't even a less important finger like the ring finger but it was a really important one, like the pointer? I mean, really. And then the fucking best part is that the camera does a close-up. Of the fork. On the ground. The only thing that would have been better is if they had revived the train-crossing signal from the Seattle season to signify craziness and then had some dramatic music every time they showed the fork. I think B/M needs to hire the editors from Big Brother. At least they knew how to laugh at the contestants sometimes. Alton claims that Brynn "threw that fork with some malice [sic] force" and then there's a triple close-up of the fork. It's like, "Some! Malice! Force! FORK!" Hee. Also, "malice force"? Isn't Alton supposed to be the academian?
“ Okay, this is the second best moment of the episode after the close-up on the fork. Steven tries to slam the door in Brynn's face, but it's got one of those air-pressure things on it so it can't actually slam, so he kind of throws it forward and Brynn cringes and then it just slowly hisses closed. I couldn't make this stuff up. ”
Brynn says that she wasn't even aiming at Steve's head, and that she just hit him in the arm. Steven is suddenly all pissed off when he was practically laughing two minutes ago, and he yells that no one needs to touch anyone. Alton says he told Brynn that she assaulted Steve. No, that would have been if she hit him over the head with the spice rack. Get it? A-salt-ed? Ah, forget it. Arissulan escort Brynn back into the suite as Brynn cries that she can't believe Steven is threatened by her. Steven tells someone that he can't talk to Brynn like a normal human being because she won't have it. Irulan advises Brynn not to go inside as they stand outside the door and listen. Steven is still yelling that Brynn singled him out, as he walks over to the door, apparently not knowing that Brynn is standing just outside of it. He opens the door and everyone starts yelling. Okay, this is the second best moment of the episode after the close-up on the fork. Steven tries to slam the door in Brynn's face, but it's got one of those air-pressure things on it so it can't actually slam, so he kind of throws it forward and Brynn cringes and then it just slowly hisses closed. I couldn't make this stuff up. You can see him thinking, "Oh, yeah! Well, I'll slam this...oh, for fuck's sake." Suddenly, the door opens again and Brynn bursts through. Steven starts calling her names, most of which get bleeped. Brynn runs at Steven and tells him to bleep off. Arissa gets between them, but Brynn still manages to shove Steven backward. Irulan grabs Brynn's arms and pulls her back while Arissa backs Steven up. Those two could be bouncers in a club. Steven calls Brynn a "slutty tramp bitch," and he says that he may be a bleeping slut, but she's a bleep. Irulan manages to pull Brynn away and Trishelle follows. Steven yells after her, "What? What? You going to bleeping hit me again? You laid your hand on me three times you little stupid tramp. You bleeping whore!" Actually, they don't even bleep it. They just cut the sound. I like the bleeps better. Also, Steven has some serious issues. I mean, Brynn has issues too, but those words coming out of Steven's mouth are, to me, way worse than a forking and a shove.
Steven runs over to the bat phone (the phone they use to talk to the production crew) and picks it up. He stops to make sure that the cameraman has caught up to him, and then says, "Tracey [the producer], if I would have [sic] thrown a fork at her, that would have been it. If I would have [sic] touched her in any way in anger, that would have been it, and I think we're kidding ourselves to say anything different." Out in the hallway, Brynn cries and says that she's never been degraded like that. At least not since last night, when she was working as a go-go dancer in the club. Steven tells Tracey that if Brynn gets to stay, it's a double standard, and that he wants her gone. If you could just hear the tone of voice he uses throughout this scene -- he is clearly so in love with himself, and obviously speaking in sound bites so that it will make a good promo for the episode. What a fucking phony. Also, may I bring up Gladys from Road Rules: Latin America, who was another female kicked off the show for violence against a man (Abe)? I would like to enter that into the record as People's Exhibit A, your Honor.
Out in the hallway, Arissa hugs Brynn, who asks Trishelle if she should go home. Trishelle says that she doesn't know. Which is hardly surprising. In an interview, Trishelle says that Steven was wrong to call Brynn all those names, but that Brynn was wrong to push him. Trishelle thinks that Brynn should have just walked away, but that's not what happened. During Trishelle's opinion on the matter, we get some dramatic black-and-white flashback footage of the incident, in case you jammed a pen up your nostril during the commercial break so that you didn't have to watch that freaky Steve Madden commercial again, and accidentally lobotomized yourself. Trishelle says that they all have to agree on what will happen, and that one person alone can't make that decision. At some point between the shoving and now, Trishelle changed her shirt. I don't know what's up with these people and their wardrobes. Brynn says that Tracey the Producer will be the one to make the decision, and she knows she'll be going home.
Steven is on the phone with Tracey again. Steven protests that he's not going to take being hit, and that Tracey can't ask him to. Tracey says that he doesn't make this decision, and that the roommates all need to decide what happens. In other words, Mary-Ellis got a call at home and realized that it would be much more dramatic for the roommates to discuss the issue and vote on it than for the producers to deus ex machina Brynn out of the house in the middle of the night. Steve asks the roommates if they can talk about it right now, and they agree. Steve calls everyone into the living room.
Steven leads off by saying that if Brynn ever hit him again, and he slapped her in return, he would be done for the rest of his life, because he would always be known as the guy who hit a girl. So, wait. He thinks that Brynn should be booted because he might, potentially, maybe, hit her? Good one. Steven dramatically repeats, "For the rest of my life!" Brynn cries and cries. Alton says he thinks that the situation can be worked out, and that Brynn's actions wouldn't be repeated, but that it's ultimately Steven's decision. Frank also thinks it's Steven's decision, although he doesn't agree with it. In other words, no one wants to be responsible for kicking Brynn out; they want to be able to blame it on Steve later if it comes off badly. Arissa tells Steve that everything he's saying is valid, but that she wonders if he will still feel the same way in the morning. Steve doesn't know. Arissa asks if he wants to try sleeping on the decision, or if he wants Brynn to leave tonight. Steven says that he "cannot have this liability." What liability? That he might potentially hit her in the event that she hits him again? Irulan has clearly been involved in some therapy, as she says to Steven, "I see where you're coming from. I hear that you feel violated. I don't think that she was right in putting her hands on you, but I honestly think that you are being a little bit overly cautious." Irulan thinks that if Steven slept on it, he might feel differently. You know what I'm kind of getting from this? That Steven is drunk (or otherwise under the influence), since they're all dressed like they just came in from a night out, and that's why Irulan and Arissa (who are dressed like they stayed in) are trying to encourage him to sober up before making this decision. Steven sums up by saying that three people think it's his decision to make. Trishelle says that she also thinks it's Steven's decision. Steven says that his decision is made.
In an interview, Frank says that Steven is the only person who wants to throw Brynn out, but that everyone else agrees that it's Steven's decision. Well, thanks for the recap of what we just saw. Brynn sits quietly and cries throughout. Steven says that Brynn isn't sad because she feels bad about what she did. Brynn says, "Have you asked me?" Steven arrogantly says that he's tried to talk to her many times, and that he doesn't want to hear it anymore. Brynn says she can't talk about things until she's ready. Steven asks if he's just supposed to take her bleep in the meantime. Brynn says she's not trying to give him bleep. Steven says that she's been giving him bleep for a very long time. Trishelle starts picking her teeth. Sexy. Brynn asks if Steven really wants to know why she doesn't like him. Steven asks why. Brynn whines that she really does like him, and that she's jealous of him and Trishelle, and that she deals with it by getting pissed off. Brynn says that she knows Trishelle likes Steven, and that she's trying not to hurt Trishelle, and to be a good friend. How is forking Steven being a good friend? You know, I don't know why I try to follow the logic here, because there clearly isn't any. Brynn is obviously just saying whatever she can think of to stay in the house, and Steven is saying whatever he can think of that will sound good in the promos. Brynn concludes, "It's because I like you, okay? That's why I've been being this way." She lets out a fake little sob. Steven pauses dramatically, then leans forward and says, "Brynn, this is not elementary school. I want you gone. This is not elementary school. I do not take that. I do not take that as a valid excuse. I knew that was what was going on. I appreciate that you actually came clean and said that. But you know that if I had hit you back, that would have ruined my life." Brynn says that this is ruining hers. Steven shoots back that she ruined her own life. Seriously. This is like a high school play. None of them has any conviction or emotion behind what they're saying. They're all just playing to the cameras. Steven keeps repeating that Brynn ruined her own life. Some of the roommates tell Steven to stop, and Irulan tells him that if he's going to kick Brynn out, he doesn't need to degrade her first. Steven repeats that he wants Trishelle gone and shrugs, and then stares at her creepily. Everyone looks sad. The meeting breaks up.
Steven apologizes to someone. Frank tells him to stop apologizing. Steven says that, either way, it's going to be screwed up. Frank tries to make sure Brynn is okay. Brynn runs over to the phone and calls her mom. She says she thinks she's coming home, and that she's going to get kicked out. Her mom asks why, and Brynn says that she threw a fork at one of her roommates. How can you even say that without laughing out loud? I laughed out loud when she said it. In an interview, Brynn says that she doesn't think she's a violent person, but that she holds things inside, and sometimes it's too much. Brynn tells her mom all the names that Steven called her. Steven stands outside and listens in. Brynn shakes and cries and says that she thinks she's just going to come home because it's easier than staying. Her mom says it's not like her to give up, and Brynn says that there's nothing she can do about it. I buy that Brynn is genuinely upset here, but I think she's upset about leaving the house, not upset that Steven doesn't love her like he loves Trishelle (which is to say, not much and only at night). Brynn tells her mom, "This is, like, my life." Steven stands nearby and puts his hands over his face. The music on the soundtrack lets us know that he is "soul-searching" and that there's "nothing inside." Heh.
“ Steve says that he wants to hear her side. Brynn says she knows that no matter what she says, she's going home. Way to start your argument on a winning note. That's like a defense attorney standing up and saying, 'I know that no matter what I say, my client is going to the gas chamber.' ”
There are papers all over the floor. There are dirty dishes in the sink. And the fork. Is still on the floor. I love the close-ups of the fork. I don't even think it's the same fork in every shot. It doesn't matter. Just seeing the fork makes me laugh. Alton asks Brynn how she's going to rectify the situation. Brynn says that she can't, and that she's going to go home because of what she did. She says, "Trust me -- my life will be forever changed because of what I did." Isn't that a line from a movie? It is! It's from the Ben Affleck monologue in Chasing Amy, where he tells Joey Lauren Adams that he doesn't need a painting of some birds from a diner to remind him of how he feels about her. And said monologue always annoys me because it ends in a preposition. In an interview, Brynn says that she wants Steven to know that she's sorry, and that she reacted that way because it's what she knows.
Brynn whines to the other female roommates that she quit her job, and has nothing left at home for her. She thought being on the show was her one chance to avoid getting pregnant, so now she'll have to go home and get knocked up. Because B/M provides free condoms and she can't afford them on her own? I still don't get why so many people on the show (and off) see being a roommate as this great opportunity. This great opportunity to do what? Meet other people? You can't meet other people unless you go on the show? Get famous? Is that the kind of fame you really want -- all of the hassle and none of the money or prestige? I guess since I don't understand why anyone would want to be on this show, I can't understand why Brynn is so sad to leave. Anyway, the other women basically tell her that she can still make something of herself even if she gets kicked out. Brynn says that she had a really good time. In an interview, Arissa says that she doesn't want to see Brynn go home, and that even though Brynn can drive her crazy, she deserves "this experience" as much as the other six of them do. Which is to say, not at all.
Arissa advises Steve to talk to Brynn before he makes a decision. Steve says that he thinks he's being rational, and that he made "some amazing points." I think he only had one point, and it was that he doesn't want Brynn to stay because then he might have to hit her. Arissa seems to kind of agree with me, because she tells Steve that he made his points, but she leaves out the "amazing" part. Arissa thinks Steve should talk to Brynn so that no one thinks it was a hasty decision. Steve says he'll make the same decision in the morning. In an interview, Steve says that he's "putting up a very valid argument about why she should go." He can keep saying that as much as he wants, but it still won't be true. Steve decides that he can "oblige Arissa." Power trip, much?
Steve and Brynn sit out in the hallway. Steve says that he wants to hear her side. Brynn says she knows that no matter what she says, she's going home. Way to start your argument on a winning note. That's like a defense attorney standing up and saying, "I know that no matter what I say, my client is going to the gas chamber." Brynn reiterates that she acted out of jealousy, that she didn't know how to talk to him about it rationally, and that she didn't want Steven and Trishelle to feel uncomfortable. In an interview, Steve says he doesn't know if Brynn is being genuine. Brynn says that it doesn't make sense, but that she has a hard time expressing herself to people. She doesn't want anyone to feel threatened by her, and she thinks she comes off as more of a hard-ass than she really is. I don't find her threatening or a hard-ass. Then again, she didn't toss a fork at my arm, and then leave it lying on the floor. I mean, what if they had company? And all their good forks were lying on the floor?
Brynn throws out the old trope about how she doesn't want to seem soft, because letting people in means that she might get hurt. Steve says that not letting people in makes you dead inside (like Trishelle and him), and that it makes it easier to say mean things. Steven says faux-sincerely that even if you get hurt, at least you are feeling something. I think he probably saw that on Jenny Jones once. Brynn says that she doesn't want to find out who she really is, because she's afraid that she'll end up like her parents. Her mom was in rehab and apparently got beat up. By Brynn's dad? Or stepdad? Or a complete stranger? That part is unclear. Steve says that Brynn is him when he was twenty, with the "misguided anger and hostility," and that he knows exactly where she's coming from. Steve tells Brynn that he thinks this is her rock bottom. Brynn thinks she's below rock bottom. Steve says that not until he was Brynn's age did he realize that he couldn't use his past as a crutch. Brynn asks if he had help. Steve says that he met his wife. I'm still curious about that whole divorce situation, but I'm sure it will come up later on. They haven't had time yet with the hot tubs and the drinking and the grody bosses and the threesomes.
Steve says that his wife made him want to be a better person. Brynn asks if Steve could do that for her. Steve smacks his lips together, like, a million times. The other roommates crowd around a monitor that apparently shows what's going on in the hallway, trying to figure out how the conversation is going. Irulan hopes they work it out. Frank says that they'll hug if things are better. In the hall, Steve says that Brynn made a good point. Brynn reminds him that he's been where she is now. Steve says that now he can't do it. Frank thinks Steve is changing his mind. Steve tells Brynn that after this conversation, she has to stay. Frank asks whether Brynn is laughing. Steve says that he's talking in circles now, and Brynn looks greatly relieved. In an interview, Steve says that he's really not letting Brynn stay; he's letting the old Steve stay. Because he loves himself, so any opportunity he gets to hang out with himself more is a day well spent. Steve and Brynn hug. Irulan cheers. Brynn apologizes, and Steve apologizes back, rather insincerely.
In an interview, Brynn says that she's learned that if she has a problem with someone, she needs to talk to them about it. A lesson that most of us learned at age ten. Irulan says that nobody in the house should be hooking up as she hugs Alton. Foreshadowing? Brynn and Steve join the other roommates, and Brynn says that she's staying. They all hug her. Trishelle does not look happy about this development. In an interview, Steven says he hopes that Brynn will just treat him the same way she treats everyone else. Brynn jokes that she won't ever use silverware again. I notice that Trishelle doesn't hug Brynn. Steven goes and lies in his bed. In an interview, Frank says that this problem has made them look at themselves more, and that they're not perfect and will continue to have problems.
