Joan and Grace run into God Marley (playing a hilariously bad version of "One of Us") in a rough neighbourhood; he tells Joan to jump rope with some girls from the 'hood. Joan tries and is rebuffed as a honky princess, but she persists and eventually connects with a girl her age, Casper, who she learns is homeless. Joan breaks a few rules to get her registered at Arcadia High, but the scam is soon discovered by Price, and Casper hightails it -- and disappears from Joan's life, much to her frustration. Will is still in therapy and on desk work. He's pressured to bring a kid in for Take Your Kid To Work Day -- but Kevin and Joan are too busy, so he brings Luke, despite believing Luke wouldn't be interested. At the station, Luke is quite interested in the cold cases Will's working on, but gets lured down to the whiz-bang lab with an expert colleague of Will's, while his dad stays behind and manages to crack four connected cases. Luke is angry and disappointed that he and Will didn't spend more time together at Will's office, and they have a powerful confrontation about their relationship. Kevin interviews an attractive music therapist (played by Meredith Monroe) who hits on him hard -- and he goes with the flow, enjoying the feeling of being a regular nineteen-year-old jerk for a bit. Rebecca finds out and is hurt and upset. Luke and Glynis are all over each other, as are Iris and Adam (or perhaps I should say, "A" -- which is what Iris has taken to calling him). They can't break up fast enough for me. Pushed by Helen to make a risk-taking self-portrait, Adam creates a very confrontational and upsetting piece of art meant to hurt her.
