Did you guys watch the hour before the results show? I'm not recapping it because it was basically a recap, but it was semi-interesting. They had each judge pick a dance that was the turning point or essential routine from each contestant's season, and then the contestant gave sort of a director's commentary while we watched the dance. It wasn't THAT insightful; I would have liked more technical information about the dance. But at least it was original content instead of just a filler waste of time like last week.
Anyway, on to the results show. First up is the encore dance, and Len announces that it will be Sabrina and Louis. Sabrina has improved quite a bit since her original season; watching her routine in the hour proves that. And she's lost weight. She really does have beautiful posture and lines.
Let's review last night's routines. I don't feel like we discussed in enough detail how bizarre it was that Joey and Kym danced to "Creep" by Radiohead, but a big band version. Anyway, they were really happy with their scores. Drew got a lot of cheers from his fellow contestants, so he must be a good clubhouse guy, as they say in baseball. Emmitt did get a reaction to his comment about not being intimidated by an actor, an indie racer, or a speed skater. Gilles, Helio, and Apolo all laughed but also looked surprised. And finally, Sabrina and Louis were nervous about their ending, but they were really happy to have nailed it.
After the break, we learn that Drew, Emmitt, and Sabrina are safe. Joey and Kym are in jeopardy. I really think that people were weirded out by their song choice. Although probably the target demo for this show, the 50+ crowd, doesn't know the original. Anyway, Tom adds that week will be a double elimination. Yikes.
Brooke is backstage doing useless interviews. Shawn thinks they all need to step it up week. Bristol will determine the creative direction of their dance week if they make it through. Oh, Lord. That could be awful/awesome. Kelly is still working full time on her show so she's tired, I guess? Kirstie didn't love the dances she's had so far, but she loves the cha cha, which is what she'll do week if she goes through.
Cher Lloyd is here to perform. I heard this song on the radio the other day, having never heard it before (I don't listen to the radio much) and I thought it was probably the worst song I've ever heard. It was so autotuned that it didn't even sound like a human being singing it. Cher is also about the furthest thing from a dynamic performer too. I don't get how she got a recording contract. I mean, she's cute, but there are a lot of cute girls out there. During an audience shot, I'm pretty sure that I saw Santa Claus. So I guess this show does attract a diverse crowd.
Clip package about how the pros are under more pressure than ever this season, because the level of competition is so high. They admit that Drew being in the bottom two woke everyone up, because he won his season. Multiple pros (Tony, Louis, Val) claim that their partners are able to handle professional choreography. It's kind of interesting to hear from the pro side; we normally don't get much beyond platitudes from them.
The Macy's Stars of Dance routine is a futuristic dance battle. That's the best kind of battle, isn't it? It wasn't so much a battle as a choreographed race to the top of the stairs, though. Lame.
The troupe has returned to perform an homage to some past iconic dances, including a corker of a rehash of Helio's banana suit dance featuring Lacey Schwimmer and her brother Benji.
More results! I'm enjoying Derek having a younger partner this year; for the first time, he's coming across as an old man, since he can't keep up with Shawn. I love when they show Bruno's candid reactions to the routines. While Bristol was dancing, he yelled out, "Mess!" And then Bristol got her persecution complex on while declaring that she'll never get a score above a 6. I mean, MAYBE she meant it's because she's not a good dancer, but knowing her and her history, I'm pretty sure she meant that the judges have it in for her. When in reality, she's just not a good dancer. Kirstie seems plagued by self-doubt, STILL. The more I see of Kelly, the more I like her personality. She seems pretty down to earth. She's even making me like Val.
Shawn, Bristol (!), and Kirstie (!) are safe. Kelly is in jeopardy. Man, that is some bullshit. I guess I need to start voting if I'm going to care.
Katherine Jenkins is back to sing with Placido Domingo. Val and Anna are out to dance while they sing. I always wonder how they decide which pros get to dance during the performances. This one seemed particularly random.
More results. Helio didn't understand what in the heck Carrie Ann told him during judging. Don't worry, dude. No one did. Melissa was freaked out and Tony couldn't believe that Carrie Ann compliments his choreography. Gilles couldn't say the word cleavage, even though he was displaying a LOT of it. Karina was squeaking with excitement over how well Apolo dances. Man, this is a powerhouse group. Are they all safe? Well, Melissa, Gilles, and Apolo are safe. Helio and Chelsie are in jeopardy.
The final results are about to be revealed, and the three couples in jeopardy are Joey and Kym, Kelly and Val, and Helio and Chelsie. But Kelly and Val are safe! So that means that Joey and Kym and Helio and Chelsie are the for real bottom two. Tom has time to talk to each couple. He asks Helio if he would do anything different if he could, and Helio says that they did everything they could. Joey says that "what's great about me" is that he always has fun. Well, I'm glad Joey knows what's great about himself. That was a weird way to answer. Anyway, who's going home? Joey and Kym. Eh. Joey was never going to dance as well as a Gilles or an Apolo or an Emmitt. Or a Drew.

Joey laughs that he's going to a wedding tomorrow so he doesn't care, and he doesn't think he let Kym down. I still suspect their song choice had something to do with it. Man, the double elimination week had better include Bristol or I will start a one-woman riot.
