Mitchell

Stanley arrives at Gracie's, and she swiftly tells him to get out. Stanley says that he didn't steal the pesticide, and points out that she's known him for his whole life. "We have to trust each other!" he insists. I wait for him to add, "It's that big-city gal we can't trust. String her up!" But alas, no, he just tells Gracie to follow him outside.

Stanley shows Gracie the pesticide, hidden under a tarp near some dumpsters in the alley. He says, "Nobody stole anything from anyone, okay? It was a misunderstanding." Stanley, maybe you should shut up now, before you start claiming that the buckets of pesticide just got stuck to your shoe and you didn't notice.

Jake asks Dale if he has any idea where they would have moved all the food. I think I'd ask Dale how they moved piles that were "stacked to the rafters" when they don't have any motorized vehicles available. Ooh, maybe Mitchell has befriended the giant ants, and trained them to carry things for him. And to fight off the zombies. Or maybe the zombies ride the giant ants. That would be pretty cool. Ah yes, we must be in the final act of the show, because that's when I start free-associating. Where were we? Jake spots someone approaching the barn, and then he gets Eric's attention and makes a series of overly complicated gestures to convey "I've got a great idea for a prank!" He tell Dale to stay put, and then he and Eric sidle out the back door.

Mitchell is walking around outside the barn with his shotgun, looking like a doofus, when Eric sneaks up behind him and tells him to drop the gun. Meanwhile, Jake scurries up from the other side of the barn. Mitchell makes a sad face and drops the shotgun. And then he makes a run for it, so of course Jake pops out and knocks him down. Jake stands over Mitchell and showily drops his own gun, kneels astride Mitchell, and asks, "Where's the food?" Without waiting for an answer, starts beating the tar out of Mitchell. Eric pulls Jake away, and then we go to commercial before Mitchell grabs the gun Jake dropped right to him and shoots both of the mentally deficient Green brothers. Then he, um, rides away on a giant ant to lead his army of zombies.

And I guess Dale wanders out, finds the boys bleeding to death, and turns them into cyborgs with some erector set parts he found. So then they chase Eric down and kill his zombie army because, dude, they're cyborgs, and they can kick zombie ass!

And so when we return, Mitchell's sitting in a jail cell. Mom asks what they're gonna do with him. Eric says that they'll keep him locked up, and maybe "send someone to Fielding, see if the courthouse is still running." Oh, I'm sure it is. Why wouldn't it be? Mom says that Mitchell's friends "aren't gonna let this go." Mitchell's friends are fifteen, Mom. Jake says that he'll handle it, and Eric sniffs, "You handled it real good back at the barn." Wow, that looks kind of suggestive when you see it in print. Jake retorts, "I shoulda killed him." Mom snaps, "Stop it, Jake! You're not that guy anymore." The piano plinks poignantly on the soundtrack. Mom asks what they're going to do with Sean and Dale. Eric says that Dale can go, but Sean helped steal the horses. Mom says that Sean's just a boy, and for a split-second I think that means that maybe, just maybe, she's thinking they should have a word with Sean's parents. But instead, she declares that she won't press charges against Sean. She says, "The cell is too small to hold everyone who ever made a mistake," and gives Jake a pointed look. Okay, but is it too small to hold everyone who helped hold someone hostage at gunpoint? Because unless it is, I don't see a problem. Eric asks what Mom thinks they should do with Sean, and she says, "Rehabilitation."
