Casa Green. Eric wanders in to pick up "another citation ledger." Because they keep those at the house. Naturally. Mom expositions that she and Jake are going to the ranch to feed the horses later, and invites Eric along. Ah, it's not just stables; they have a ranch. But none of them live on it. Including the homeless Eric and April. Maybe they have someone else working there while they all live in town? Except then, why would they need to go feed the horses themselves? Eric declines, and Mom asks how things are going with April. Eric replies, "Why, did she say something?" I think that answers the question. The heart-to-heart is interrupted when April comes downstairs to report that Dad's not doing too well. She says that she'll try to dig up stronger antibiotics at the clinic, assuming she can find someone to read the labels to her. Mom frets that Dad's not eating, and asks Eric, "Can you stay?" Eric somehow understands the non sequitur, and says that he'll lunch on protein bars. I thought Mom was asking, "Can you stay and help me take care of your father?" and that Eric was just a callous git. But Mom doesn't seem pissed off by his response, so I guess she really was offering to feed him. Mom exits, and April says that if Eric can wait a few minutes, she'll walk downtown with him. Eric insists that he has to hurry to a meeting, and April gets all big-eyed and sad as she watches him leave.

Richmond Ranch. Stanley and Bonnie are looking over a tractor. Stanley thinks they can find a new starter, but Bonnie is skeptical about finding one that works. Mimi walks up, kicking chickens out of her way. Stanley greets her as "Uncle Sam," which Mimi doesn't care for. Props to DebetEsse for translating what Bonnie signs: "Uncle Sam is prettier." Stanley tells Mimi that Bonnie was just admiring her shoes. Mimi gets to the point: the hotel she was staying at closed, so she needs a place to stay. There's a hotel. In town. Because of Jericho's thriving tourist industry. Oh! No, I get it: the Greens have a dude ranch! So that's why there's horses and nothing else, and the people who come to play cowboy stay at the hotel. And here I thought it didn't make any sense. Mimi brings up all the money Stanley owes the government. He pffts that nobody's heard from the government in weeks. Mimi says, "Consider me the government." Stanley grins, "Then I still get to call you 'Uncle Sam.'" He abruptly admires Mimi's watch to get that subplot started, then forces her to admit that it stopped working after the EMP. He says, "How about I pay you when it starts up again?" Mimi says that if they'll put her up, she'll deduct the costs of her room and board from Stanley's tax bill. He agrees, and tells her that she can pitch in with the crops and household chores. Mimi starts to argue, and then a bug lands on her. Ew! There are creepy crawlies running around her feet. Stanley steps into the field and pulls the husk off some corn. Ew ew ew! There are larvae poking out, and just ew. Ew!
