Lorelai is going through her big giant Wal-Mart book at the front desk of the Inn. She starts throwing a temper tantrum and says to Michel, "I give up." Insert gigantic pout. "That's the spirit," Michel says to her. He says that perhaps she isn't cut out to be her own boss, and is more of a "worker bee, a follower." He compares her to the people in parking lots who wave orange glowsticks at you and tell you where to park. "You're baiting me, aren't you?" Lorelai squints. "No!" Michel says. "I seriously have no faith in your aptitude." Hee.
Sookie giggles in saying that Jackson called and said he'd love to have dinner with her. The problem is his cousin's in town and staying with him for the week. Lorelai says that Sookie will just have to have the date on another day. Sookie giggles and says that would have been a good thing to say, but instead she had suggested a double date with Jackson's cousin, and that Lorelai would go. Michel smiles from the side. Lorelai says she hates blind dates. Sookie says this isn't a blind date, but rather Lorelai keeping Jackson's cousin company while she has her date. Sookie clasps her hands and says, "Lorelai, please! I'll be your best friend." "You are my best friend," Lorelai drones. Sookie: "And you're mine." Lorelai: "I know I am." Sookie: "So, what are best friends for?" Lorelai pouts and shakes her head a few times while saying she'll go. Sookie thanks her and says, "You will not regret this." "Pick another phrase," Lorelai says. "You will not have to pay," Sookie smiles. Lorelai sighs, and tells the laughing Michel to shut up.
The Gilmore home. Lorelai is getting Sookie ready for the date. Wait, if it's Sunday already, what happened to the Friday-night dinner? We normally get three per episode. This is strange, as Grampa was on his deathbed the last time we saw him and there hasn't even been an update on his condition since. I can't believe they see him less now that he was all sick, making them realize they don't spend enough time with him. Even just a mention that they talked to him on the phone or something, or that he's out of town on business. The writers on this show are usually more attentive. Rory brings Lorelai an accessory she's looking for, and asks Lorelai for sparkly hair clips. Rory tells Sookie that she looks pretty. "I should cancel," Sookie says to Lorelai. Lorelai starts applying lipstick. Sookie "what if"s that her date might go horribly wrong and then he might not sell produce to her anymore. Lorelai says that if Jackson holds all of the produce in the entire world, then probably their vegetarian clients will die. Sookie says she likes Jackson a lot. Lorelai says that Jackson likes her, too. Sookie thinks that Jackson is just being polite, and because she trapped him he had to say yes to the date. Sookie keeps on talking and says that she's his employer, since she buys his product, and therefore her making him go on this date is sexual harassment. Lorelai tells Sookie that she's no longer allowed to talk because she's being crazy. Sookie sits down. Lorelai tells her that tonight is a good thing. Whether she finds out that she and Jackson are madly in love or they figure out that they aren't right for each other, it's still a good thing. Lorelai says she'll be right there with her and everything will be okay. Lorelai grabs the sparkly clips and tells Sookie she'll be right back.
