House of Pain. Injury montage -- pretty much all of the contestants get hurt at one point or another. Paulina voice-overs that she hurt her knee on Wednesday and didn't tell anyone because she thought it would get better over the weekend. Clearly, it didn't, and she got re-injured. As she sits ringside, Al Snow yells at her for not telling him about her injury, and points out that she's better off sitting and watching than training with an injury, because if she blows out her knee, she's done for good. That sounds sensible, but you have to take into consideration that this is a competition, and that Paulina is incredibly insecure, what with her constant worries about not being able to handle it.
Spring is coming, based on all the green lawns and stuff. At least it's not snowing anymore. All of the contestants miss their family and friends, and talk to them on the phone. Taylor tells someone on the phone that they will be drawing two contestants' names out of a hat, and that those people will get to have visitors from home.
At home, Paulina has an ice pack on her knee. At the House of Pain, the contestants do jumping jacks as Kurt Angle sneaks in the back. Josh and Nidia express how excited they were to see Angle, and yet they had to continue doing jumping jacks. Montage of Kurt Angle's matches. Angle tells the contestants about his three I's (for non-WWF watchers, those would be intensity, integrity, and intelligence). Kurt details his amateur wrestling background, which culminated in winning the Olympic gold medal for wrestling. After the Olympics, Kurt went to visit the WWF, but he thought professional wrestling was a joke, and fake. Vince McMahon offered Kurt a multimillion-dollar deal, and Kurt was laughing inside. When Kurt got home, he and his agent tore up the contract. Two years later, Kurt was watching RAW, and he recognized the athleticism as well as the entertainment value. So, he became a professional wrestler. Does that seem like a legit ending to the story? Doesn't it seem like something is missing in there? Like maybe it should be, "Two years later, Kurt was dead broke, and realized what a fool he was to pass up millions of dollars, so he went crawling back to the WWF." That's my guess, anyway.
The contestants rehearse in the ring while Kurt watches. Kurt offers some pointers on how to "sell" the moves better -- how to make it look like they are actually in pain when they aren't. It's funny that the formerly "legit" wrestler is the one offering tips on how to fake it better. At the end, Kurt tells them that he has a fourth I, which stands for "island." Kurt passes out sunglasses to the contestants and reveals that they are going to Paradise Island in the Bahamas for a vacation. Damn! They didn't send the people on Boot Camp to Jamaica!
The contestants do laundry and pack in preparation for their trip. In an interview, Harvard Chris says that he is annoyed by everyone else in the house, because they talk about stupid things. Harvard Chris, meanwhile, is reading The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. Oh my God -- it's Jamie 2: Electric Snob-aloo! Josh is wearing a plastic bag on his head because he's dyeing his hair. Josh and some others debate which ocean the Bahamas are in. Greg walks in and laughs at them. In an interview, Harvard Chris says that he's there do to a job, and that he's treating the entire experience as a job interview. See -- Harvard Chris is smart because he reads books. The others are dumb, because they don't know geography. Hey, maybe Kurt Angle could have given them lessons. He was a geography major in college.
Paulina got an MRI on her knee. She's worried. I would give you further details, but what else do you need to know, really?
The contestants go to Paradise Island. In an interview, Maven says that it's beautiful. Nidia thinks that it was perfect timing, because they were all so stressed out and injured. While in the Bahamas, the contestants feed the dolphins, go on waterslides, kayak, go on tubes, go sailing, and watch a sunset. In some sort of marketplace, Josh purchases and plays a recorder or flute of some sort. Everyone laughs and walks away. In an interview, Greg says that he likes Josh because he's not serious all the time. Or ever, really. In an interview, Paulina says that she thinks everyone likes Josh. Paulina clearly hasn't talked to Harvard Chris, who thinks that Josh is hurting himself in the competition with his childish actions. In an interview, Greg says that he thinks Harvard Chris wants to come off as professional and is therefore annoyed by the jokes of the other contestants. Aw, that Greg is so diplomatic. What he really wants to say is, "Harvard Chris has a big stick up his ass."
