Old McPadma

By Kim

Quickfire Challenge. Season Three Winner Hung Huynh joins Padma in revealing that the chefs have to make a delicious dish using non-fresh ingredients, which horrifies the cheftestants. The Hung twist, since he’s so fast, is that they only have fifteen minutes. The cheftestants are all disgusted by the canned food, and they end up coming off kind of snobby, to be honest. I guess the audience for this show isn’t the typical home cook, but I still think there are a lot of people in this country who don’t have access to fresh farm-direct locally grown food year-round. Maybe I’m just bitter because I live in the Arctic tundra, so there’s not a lot of local produce going on for about five months of the year. But I think it’s a bigger challenge to cook something edible when you don’t have the greatest ingredients.

Hung doesn’t like Leah’s fried waffles, Radhika’s bean dip or Jamie’s bruschetta, mostly because he feels they all needed more effort and were too simple. He did like Hosea’s pea-and-spam soup, Stefan’s grilled cheese sandwich with soup and Jeff’s fried conch with dipping sauce and pina colada. He chooses Stefan as the winner.

Elimination Challenge. They are put into teams based on proteins (chicken, lamb, pork) and told to create a seasonal, family-style lunch based on their team’s protein. Team Lamb is Hosea, Leah, and Ariane. Team Chicken is Stefan, Jamie, and Carla. Team Pork is Fabio, Jeff, and Radhika.

Stefan and Jamie butt heads over Stefan's stubbornness. Ariane is nervous about working with the “lovebirds” Hosea and Leah, since she feels like they share a brain and don’t really listen to her. The teams head to Blue Hill at Stone Barns, a “non-profit farm and education center” to do their “shopping.” So it’s totally going to be farm-to-table in the strictest sense. After shopping, they’ll be cooking for the farmers and their families.

Team Pork makes seared pork loin, sausage ravioli with pesto, fried green tomatoes, grilled corn salad, and crème brulée. They are criticized for their choice of removing the pork from the bone, but people like the fried green tomato, which Jeff made.

Team Chicken makes chicken cutlets, lemon-herb roasted chicken, chicken ravioli soup, and a nectarine and strawberry tartlet. Their flavors are good but some of their dish choices are questioned, like serving soup on a hot day. The diners like Carla’s desserts.

Team Lamb makes roasted duo of lamb, heirloom tomato salad, rosemary and garlic-roasted potatoes, Swiss chard, and a summer berry trifle. Their lamb is not butchered well, and it’s overly seasoned, which is a huge problem.

Team Chicken with Jamie, Stefan, and Carla are the winners, and the judges don’t name an individual winner. Teams Pork and Lamb are brought back in to defend their dishes. Ariane takes heat for the way she butchered the lamb, although her teammates take some heat as well for leaving it all up to Ariane and not stepping in when she screwed up. On Team Pork, Jeff gets in trouble for his butchering, Fabio is told his pesto was too heavy-handed, and Radhika is criticized for not doing much at all. The Pork team is saved, so the Lamb team loses, and ultimately Ariane is sent home for the butchering blunder.

The morning after the double elimination, various cheftestants are making breakfast and/or getting ready for the day. Leah is sad to lose Melissa, but she's happy that Hosea is still there. We'll find out just how happy in a few minutes. Hosea is wearing a T-shirt that says "I heart Padma" and I wish they didn't have to wear the chef's coats in the kitchen because I'd like to see Padma's reaction to that shirt. If she even noticed. Hosea says that he's getting pretty sick of Stefan talking shit all the time, and Hosea is now gunning for Stefan. I don't know how you can really target someone for elimination on this show unless you are on a team and somehow set them up for failure, but I think Stefan is probably too smart to put himself in that position. Stefan brags about how he's won three challenges already and asks, "How do you like that, Hosea? How do you like that in your face?" I think Stefan needs to work on his idioms a bit.

Quickfire Challenge. The cheftestants walk into the kitchen and find Padma standing there with Hung, the winner of Season Three. Stefan is gazing at Hung with love in his eyes. Or maybe he's looking at Padma. Hard to say. Fabio interviews that he knows Hung loves to cook fish, and there's a giant structure to Padma with a sheet over it, so Fabio thinks there will be an aquarium underneath with fish in it. Given the shape and size of the structure, it's not a bad guess. Padma announces that any chef can create great food with fresh, seasonal ingredients, but that's not what this challenge is about today. She whips off the sheet (wonder how many takes that required) to reveal some shelves filled with canned goods like you would find in most home pantries. The cheftestants are HORRIFIED. They have to use canned goods? Like a commoner? Why, most of those ingredients aren't even organic! The horror! I realize I'm a little touchy about this. Of course, fresh ingredients are always going to taste better. The thing is, where I live right now, we have about ten inches of snow on the ground, and that's going to be true until about April. So unless you either ship stuff in from other parts of the world, which is not the greatest in terms of the carbon footprint, or you have stuff frozen and/or canned from the warmer months, you're kind of screwed. So most of us make do with canned food. Granted, I'm not even close to a top chef, but I am probably a typical viewer of the show, and I find it kind of insulting. But as Fabio would say, this is Top Chef, not Top Kim Goes On A Rant About Food Snobs, so I'm done.

Jeff refers to the food Padma revealed as "garbage" and laments, "Jesus Christ, what a mess." Whatever, Dildo Beach Club. Padma lays out the rules. They have to make a dish from the pantry ingredients, and in honor of Hung the Fastest Chef in the World, they will only have fifteen minutes.

Padma calls time and they all sprint over to the shelves and start grabbing cans and boxes. Fabio interviews that Hosea tried to grab the can of artichokes out of his hand, and Fabio wouldn't give it up. Hosea and Radhika seem to be the last people there, and Hosea interviews that he grabbed Spam and peas to make a split pea soup, which he knows is lame, but it's the best he could come up with. Everyone starts chopping and running around. Stefan pops open a can of soup -- might be a cream of something? He sniffs it and reacts with disgust, and I'm kind of with him there. Cream of whatever soup is pretty gross. Radhika interviews that canned food is gross and for housewives. Well, she's a little more diplomatic than that, but not much.

Jamie interviews that she looked at Jeff to her, who was making like three different dishes, and she was a little chagrined to admit that her "brilliant idea" was to take garbanzo beans and marinated artichokes and create a bruschetta. Stefan is using some sort of potted meat, and he hacks the can open with a knife instead of using a can opener like a normal person. It's quite violent and seems like a good way to get metal shavings into your dish. He's making soup and sandwich. Stefan needs more Spam, and he spots some on Hosea's table and asks for it. (Actually, he grabs it and starts walking and then asks for it.) Hosea interviews that he was reluctant to give it up, since Fabio wouldn't give him any artichokes, but he gave it up anyway. Everyone plates their dishes as Padma and Hung return to the kitchen to announce that time's up.

Hung and Padma start making the tasting rounds. They stop at Leah's station first; she made waffles with strawberries, Cool Whip, and sausage. is Stefan, who made baked bean soup with Spam, along with a grilled cheese and Spam sandwich. Man, he really did need that extra Spam, I guess. Fabio made Easy Mac, and added in roasted artichokes and chili peppers. Hung says that he likes the heat. He hasn't been making too many comments so far. Radhika made a spicy red bean dip with grilled bread, which doesn't really seem like a dish, but I guess you can't expect much in fifteen minutes. Hosea made a sweet pea soup with Spam, onion rings, pork rinds, and hearts of palm. That seems like a kitchen sink soup. Jeff did a trio, served in a cute long dish with three bowls in it. He definitely gets points for presentation. His dishes are fried conch, coconut sauce, and a pina colada. Jamie made bruschetta with garbanzo beans, artichoke hearts, and smoked mussel. I don't know that I would count on canned mussels. I'm surprised no one used canned tuna, frankly. Jamie is practically cracking up over what bullshit her dish is, and I can't blame her. Ariane made an open-faced turkey Spam sandwich with gravy and a cranberry-pineapple chutney. It looks really unappealing, and I am a fan of the hot turkey sandwich. All Hung has to say is that it's interesting, and Ariane knows that's not good. Carla made an Asian salmon cake with fried green beans and lemongrass-ginger mayo. That sounds good, actually. At least it looks like an actual Top Chef dish. Padma and Hung only say that the mayonnaise tastes good, so I'm guessing the salmon cake doesn't.

Hung first announces who was disappointing. He thinks Leah's waffles were too crunchy. Radhika's dish was too simple and snack-like. Jamie's dish consisted of opening some cans, tossing the contents with olive oil, and dumping it on toast. Jamie looks embarrassed.

Moving on to the good news. Hung liked the balance of flavors and textures in Hosea's soup. Hung liked Stefan's dish because it "took some time to make." WTF? What does that even mean? Didn't all the dishes take about fifteen minutes? I'm glad Hung isn't a guest judge for Elimination Challenges. Hung liked what Jeff did, and thought he managed his time well in completing three dishes. Padma asks who the winner is, and Hung says that it's...Stefan! Hosea looks kind of pissed and interviews that he wonders if he had kept the Spam, if Stefan would have lost. Oh, you can't think like that Hosea. We all wonder what would have happened if we kept our Spam to ourselves from time to time. No use dwelling in the past. Stefan gets immunity in the challenge.

Elimination Challenge. Padma says that they'll be going back to basics, and the cheftestants draw knives that say either pig, chicken, or lamb. Once the knives are drawn, they get into their groups. Ariane is dismayed to discover that he's in a group with Leah and Hosea, or as she calls them "the lovebirds." Padma explains that they will create a seasonal meal based around their main protein, chicken, pig, or lamb. They will cook a family-style meal, including dessert, for sixteen people. Jamie interviews that she's on a team with Stefan, which she knows is going to be a problem because he's such a know-it-all. Man, no one likes Stefan except for Fabio. I'd like to see those two cook together at this point and see if it ruins their friendship!

Team Lamb is Hosea, Leah, and Ariane. They discuss their menu. Leah, take note, is the one who comes up with the idea of removing the leg of lamb from the bone and rolling and tying it, and Hosea agrees. Hosea interviews that he and Leah cook in similar ways, but recognize that Ariane won a challenge by cooking lamb, so they're leaving that up to her.

Team Chicken is Jamie, Carla, and Stefan. Stefan immediately starts listing off what he would do: roast chicken, mashed potatoes, matzo ball soup. Jamie looks like she already has a headache and tries to explain that this is supposed to be a team effort. Stefan interviews that Jamie is really cute when she's mad, like when did Stefan turn into a character from Mad Men. What a pig. I cannot wait until the day that he loses some sort of head-to-head challenge to a woman. Carla doesn't contribute much, and interviews that she has a hard time creating in such a fractious atmosphere. I think she needs to put in the love.

Team Pork is Fabio, Jeff, and Radhika. Fabio explains that the meal is supposed to be simple, so they decided on no Indian from Radhika, no over thinking from Jeff, and no Italian from Fabio. They are shooting for simple, fresh, and seasonal. It's good that they recognize what they are known for, but I don't think they should discount their strengths just to prove a point. But that's just me.

Late that night, Jamie asks Fabio to tell Stefan when he returns that they've made some changes to the menu and left a note for him upstairs. Jamie interviews that she thought some of their dishes were too heavy and not seasonal enough. Jamie finds Stefan and tries to talk to him about the menu, but he immediately says he's not changing it. Jamie points out that Stefan has immunity, so he shouldn't care what they do. Stefan says that he doesn't want to look like a douchebag, and Jamie takes that as a knock on her cooking, which it kind of is. He's basically saying that if they follow Jamie and Carla's plan, they'll look like terrible chefs. Jamie walks away instead of screaming at him, since she knows he's not listening. Stefan still insists that he's not changing a thing. Carla just stands there like Big Bird. Hootie?

The cheftestants wake up at 5:00 AM the morning, but don't seem sure about why they had to get up so early. Hosea sits at the kitchen table and looks thoughtful, or possibly homicidal. He interviews that he doesn't feel good about their menu, because he thinks it's too simple and not seasonal enough. He's worried about braised leg of lamb. Ariane suggests grilling it, which sounds plenty seasonal to me, but Leah and Hosea immediately shoot it down and decide to go with roasting. Yes, I know in the middle of summer, there's nothing I like to do more than keep my oven about 400 degrees for an hour or so. Ariane interviews that she knew they weren't going to listen to her so she caved. Try that one at judges' table. That should go over well.

They hop into their product-placed vehicles and head for the country. Carla is stuck between Jamie and Stefan, which is uncomfortable, and she adds that they still don't know what their menu will be. Fabio notes that they've driven for a long time and "there is booshes, trees everyone and I'm like 'Doesn't look like we are going to-a the Whole Food Market!" I will be sad if Fabio gets eliminated. I could listen to him narrate anything, even driving to the country.

They end up at a farm, which Jamie recognizes (probably due to the giant sign out front) as Dan Barber's restaurant, which is called Blue Hill at Stone Barns. The cheftestants are greeted by Dan Barber, and three farmers. Barber explains that he runs a non-profit food education center on his farm, and that today they will be shopping the farm for their ingredients. Jeff is concerned because they might not be able to make everything they had planned, depending on what the farm grows. Hosea explains that this is a great opportunity to cook with really fresh ingredients. Farm-to-table restaurants are awesome. If you haven't been to one, I highly recommend it. Anyway, each farmer takes a team and they head out to "shop" the farm.

Everyone exclaims over the fresh tomatoes. Jeff starts picking up the green tomatoes on the ground to do a fried green tomato dish, which he thinks will be unique. Team Lamb heads over to check out the sheep. They help move some fencing to herd the sheep into another pasture. Reminds me of a task on The Amazing Race. Meanwhile, Team Pork heads into the forest to check out the giant pigs. They get to feed them. Fabio interviews that he's not a vegetarian, but he does think that all animals deserve respect while they are alive, and should be killed only for a purpose. Team Chicken heads over to the chicken coops. Jamie seems kind of uncomfortable around the animals, and she explains that she grew up in New York City and hasn't spent a lot of time on farms. Kind of ironic for someone who can't stop talking about how she only cooks fresh and seasonal food, no? I guess that's fresh and seasonal as delivered via truck to her city restaurant. Stefan thinks that the challenge just got harder because they will be serving the farmers, who are used to eating fresh ingredients every day.

The cheftestants walk into the kitchen and find their pre-butchered animals waiting for them. Aw, I really thought they were going to have to butcher the animals themselves. I guess that's a little too hardcore, even for Bravo. And frankly, I didn't really want to see it. I just wanted to see how the cheftestants would react. Anyway, there's also a ton of produce laid out, so the whole "shop in the fields" thing was kind of bullshit. Team Pork works on revamping their menu given the new parameters. Fabio is going to make sausage ravioli with pesto, so I guess the whole "no Italian food" thing went out the window. Radhika is SHOCKED to discover that they don't grow figs in upstate New York. Aren't figs mostly grown in the Mediterranean? Where it's warm? I'm guessing that's why there aren't any figs. The same reason there aren't any bananas or coconuts, dummy. Jeff figures out with Fabio who needs which part of the pig. He runs down their menu: seared pork loin, the aforementioned ravioli, fried green tomatoes, grilled corn salad with bacon, and crème brulee. It sounds like Radhika is only making the corn salad, which sounds tasty, but also doesn't sound all that difficult. Probably nothing in it even needs to be cooked, other than the bacon, and the corn for like a minute.

Team Chicken is trying to figure out how best to apportion their chickens. Jamie is making a chicken cutlet with a roasted corn salad. Stefan is doing a lemon-herb roasted chicken. They're collaborating on a chicken ravioli soup, and then Carla is making a nectarine and strawberry tartlet for dessert. Jamie thinks they'll be fine, unless Stefan goes on an ego trip. I think he's already on an ego trip. I checked his itinerary, and it was a one-way flight, so...

Over at Team Lamb, Ariane is hacking the hell out of the meat with a giant cleaver. There is no carving here. It's totally hacking. She explains that they are doing "lamb two ways," meaning they're doing a huge leg of lamb and then "a tiny little baby." I thought a lamb was a baby? Okay, I just looked it up and there is a distinction made between lamb and baby lamb, the latter being only six to eight weeks old. They're also doing an heirloom tomato salad, rosemary and garlic-roasted potatoes, Swiss chard, and a summer berry trifle. Ariane starts removing the bone from the leg of lamb while Hosea offers to make the potatoes. Leah interviews that she's only doing the tomato salad and the dessert, and she feels like it's not enough. I don't see her stepping up to do more, though, or to make the dishes she is doing more complicated. She's just whining about it and hoping Hosea will rescue her somehow.

Fabio is concerned about how slow Radhika is going. He complains that it took her an hour to shuck and grill ten cobs of corn. That is pretty pathetic. I'm an expert corn-shucker. In the summer, my six-year-old nephew and I can do a dozen ears in about ten minutes. Start the water boiling before you start shucking and the corn can be on the table in about 15 minutes. So there's no excuse for it taking an hour.

It's two hours until service. Colicchio heads into the kitchen to see what's doing. Hey, did you see where Colicchio saved famed cookbook author Joan Nathan's life the other night because he gave her the Heimlich? He's a real American hero. He finds out that Team Lamb is collaborating, but Ariane is mostly in charge of the lamb. Cut to a shot of Ariane whacking away at the meat with a saucepan, presumably to flatten it. It just cracks me up that every time they show Ariane, she's being violent with the lamb. Obviously, it's more apparent on second viewing. Anyway, she explains to Colicchio that she took the meat off the bone and plans to make roulades with it.

, Colicchio asks Carla how working with her team is going. She says that she's working with some "strong characters," but she thinks Stefan is the team leader. Jamie agrees. We don't hear whether or not Stefan agrees, but you know he does. Colicchio has no other questions, but seems amused by Carla. As are we all, dude.

Jeff explains to Colicchio what he's doing with the pork, and that Fabio is working on the ravioli. He doesn't mention what Radhika is doing, and she gives him a kind of sour look as Colicchio leaves.

Outside, Colicchio gives us his take on the teams. He thinks Team Lamb has made a big mistake removing the lamb from the bone, since that removes a lot of the flavor, plus he doesn't say this, but I would imagine that the more you work with a really tender meat, like baby lamb, the tougher it becomes. He also criticizes Team Chicken's plan to make soup, since it's a warm day and soup probably won't hit the spot. He wonders why Team Pork chose to make a crème brulee, since someone was already sent home this season for failing at that dish.

One hour until service. Ariane explains that she finished her herb rub and she was ready to start tying up the lamb. Hosea interviews that he was concerned that the lamb wouldn't be done in time. We get a shot of the lamb all tied up, and it is a mess. It turns out that's the one Leah did! Ariane wonders why she's not doing it right and Leah says that she'll finish the tying off. Bad idea! Leah interviews that she was shocked that Ariane didn't know how to tie a roast, so she took over, but didn't do a great job since she was rushing to get the lamb in the oven. It is seriously the ugliest roast ever.

The farmers and their families start to arrive with fifteen minutes or so until service. Radhika is worried because Jeff just started searing the pork loins. Meanwhile, Ariane uses a meat thermometer to determine that her lamb is done. Ariane feels confident about their food. Jeff's pork loin is done, and everyone starts plating the food. Well, they put the food in serving dishes, since it's going to be served family style, but you know what I mean.

The diners are all sitting at long tables outside. It looks like a gorgeous day and it's making me sad that it's so cold and dreary here. It's also cracking me up that they wanted us to believe that it was Christmas two episodes ago, and now it's the middle of summer. The cheftestants bring out their food. Jamie is concerned that her food is too simple when she sees what some of the other teams did, but it's a little late to change anything now.

Team Lamb introduces their food first. Hosea explains that they roasted a lamb loin and then also did a lamb roulade with an herb-garlic crust. They also made the aforementioned potatoes and an heirloom tomato salad that looks good but didn't require all that much in the way of cooking, since everything is fresh.

Team Pork is to introduce their dishes. Jeff explains that they have a sausage, eggplant, and zucchini ravioli with a fresh pesto sauce (mmm, I'm hungry), fried green tomatoes, pork loin, and a corn and bacon salad. So did Fabio have to make sausage and THEN make the raviolis? Did they have a meat grinder? I am a little confused on that point, mostly because I don't really know how to make sausage other than you grind up meat.

Jamie introduces the dishes for Team Chicken. They have chicken cutlets with a corn and tomato salad, roast chicken, fresh tomato salad with basil and red onions (which looks amazing), and a chicken-ravioli soup where the ravioli are filled with chicken and Swiss chard.

The food is passed around and sampled. Padma doesn't really see the point of a soup, and Colicchio agrees that it's a pretty hot day for it. One of the diners sees their point but thinks the soup was really great. The judges enjoy both the roasted chicken and the chicken cutlets, and Dan Barber compliments the idea of the cutlet with a salad. One of the farmers thinks the chicken was a little dry. Back in the kitchen, Carla is worried about their food but Stefan assures her that everything is fine.

The judges move on to the lamb dishes. They think the lamb is a mess, and poorly butchered. Toby Young (kind of forgot he existed for a minute) says, "You've heard the expression 'mutton dressed as lamb'; this was lamb dressed as mutton." See? Clever, believable, and tells me something about how the food tastes. Is that so hard? Some of the other diners feel that Team Lamb's food was "out of season," and also that they sliced the meat incorrectly and lost a lot of the juices. Colicchio talks about the idea of honoring the protein, and he doesn't feel that this team did so. Back in the kitchen, Hosea and Ariane talk up their food, and almost seem to be trying to convince themselves that the food wasn't so bad.

Finally, Team Pork's food is tasted. Padma thinks that the ravioli is fine, but the pesto sauce is too strong, or there is too much of it, and so you can't taste the ravioli. Toby Young makes a convoluted metaphor about the pesto being the big bad wolf and something about pigs and it really doesn't make any sense. Padma said it a lot better. Colicchio, as with Team Lamb, feels like it was a mistake to remove the pork from the bone. Padma thinks their best dish is the fried green tomato.

The desserts are brought out. Team Chicken made a strawberry and nectarine tartlet with thyme and lemon cream. Team Pork made a vanilla and lavender-scented crème brulee. Team Lamb made a summer berry trifle with vanilla cream. The judges think that Carla's crust is great, and Colicchio loves that she used thyme in dessert. Various diners also enjoyed the tartlet. They think the crème brulee is too sweet and rich, although at least one of the diners thinks that the portion was small enough that it wasn't overwhelming. The trifle was unappealing and is compared to airline food. Oops.

Back at Judges' Table, Padma says that there are a number of cheftestants who could be eliminated this week. Colicchio points out that even great ingredients, in the wrong hands, can be disastrous. Dan Barber was disappointed in what the cheftestants did to his lovingly raised vegetables and meats. Toby Young busts out some gross and semi-violent rant about how he normally wants to have unprotected sex with the pork, but he didn't even get to first base. Dude, your personal life is your own business. Although that doesn't sound particularly safe, for a variety of reasons. Dan Barber can forgive the pork, considering how terrible the lamb was. He felt it was prepared poorly and the thought process was even worse. Colicchio agrees that the lamb dishes were bad, but the pork dishes were also, and Radhika did nothing. Padma notes that she didn't even seem upset to admit that she did nothing. Colicchio notes that Hosea probably should have jumped in on the butchering (that sounds weird), but that Ariane shouldn't need help to butcher a leg of lamb. In the Stew Room, Ariane sits there with a puss on her face while Hosea and Leah whisper to each other. Oh, that would be annoying. I would totally call them out on that: "Excuse me, do you have something you'd like to share with the class?"

Padma says she feels kind of bad for Ariane, since at least she tried. Toby Young says he feels sorry for Ariane because she can't cook. Colicchio gets a chuckle out of that one. Padma says that Ariane has done great things in the past, and Toby Young points out that they're supposed to only focus on that week's food, and Colicchio agrees. In the Stew Room, Ariane is bitching to all and sundry that she's a team player and she did the best she could. Padma thinks Leah knew something was wrong and stood back and let Ariane take the blame. The other judges agree, and were upset that Leah didn't do much either, and she didn't take responsibility for any of the tying. The judges come to a decision and call the cheftestants back in.

Once Team Pork and Team Lamb have returned, Colicchio gives a little speech about how awesome the farm was, but the food was less than impressive. They thought Radhika didn't contribute much, Fabio overwhelmed his ravioli with pesto, and Jeff removed the fat from the pork. They also thought the crème brulee was too sweet, but they enjoyed the fried green tomatoes, especially the idea of using something that would otherwise be tossed out. Colicchio says that one dish kind of saved Team Pork, so they're not the losing team.

Moving on to Loser Team Lamb, Colicchio says that Leah didn't contribute much, and didn't fight for more to do. Ariane took on the role of butcher when she knew it wasn't her strength. Hosea let his teammate flounder even though he knew how to butcher lamb. Padma finally speaks and tells Ariane to pack her knives and go. Well, that's about three weeks too late.

In her closing speech, Ariane says that Leah didn't work that hard, and Hosea was a wimp. She's proud of how she started on the bottom and made it to the top for a few weeks, and she thinks her family will be proud. People thought Ariane's final speech was really bitter, but I didn't get that. Leah and Hosea were assholes this week, so I don't blame her for being bitter. That said, either Ariane or Leah should have gone home, and while Leah didn't do much right, she wasn't as wrong as Ariane, so there you go.
