Previously on The Real World: Leah went to see Giuseppe in Florence. Christina said (to Wendy) that she didn't have a good relationship with CT. CT felt like his roommates were interfering in his relationship with Jamie.
Florence, Italy. Good thing they specified, or I would have thought they meant Florence, Utah. Leah calls her mom from a pay phone while Giuseppe stands to her. Leah interviews that Giuseppe gives her "the feeling that [she] feared for so long that [she] would never feel again." An orgasm? Leah tells her mom that she got engaged. Wha? In a confessional, Leah says that she and Giuseppe are getting married, and then admits that she's just kidding. Giuseppe says goodbye to Leah before she gets on the train. Where is Christina during all of this? Leah and Giuseppe blow kisses at each other, and then the train pulls away.
Leah sits on the train and looks sad. She interviews that after she broke up with her last boyfriend, she didn't think anyone would ever love her that much again, and that she wishes she had met Giuseppe earlier because she can let her guard down with him. The train travels through Europe and I think Leah might have ditched Christina, or possibly stashed her in an overhead compartment. Why did Christina have to go on this trip, again?
Eiffel Tower Shot Quarante-Six. The phone rings in the house. CT talks to Jamie while doing some sort of stretching exercise. Jamie asks if he talked shit about her after she left, and whether he thinks she wanted to fight with him on purpose. I hate when I get into fights by accident. It's such a bummer. CT admits that he said some dumb things too. Jamie says that others told her what he said, too. CT is upset that Jamie will tell him information she gleaned from others but won't tell him who said what. CT wonders why his roommates can't mind their own business, and he thinks Christina is just making things worse.
That night, CT sits on the steps and talks to his cousin, Mike. Mike is still there. CT says that he lives with six strangers, who all come from different backgrounds, so there's constant conflict. Well, it's not like that's the premise of the show or anything. Except it totally is. CT interviews that he and Mike grew up together, so he knows Mike will always be there for him. CT says that he's uncomfortable with the things that were said to his girlfriend, and that he feels like he's given more respect to the others in the house than he's gotten. In a confessional, CT says that he can't trust his roommates because of what he's done. CT says that when people used to try to talk to him, he would blow them off. Mike agrees that CT used to be that way, but he notices that CT has changed, and doesn't hold grudges. Mike thinks that CT has a tough exterior, but that he really cares, deep down.
Eiffel Tower Shot Quarante-Sept. Leah and Christina arrive in Paris. So I guess Christina was on the train after all. They walk into the house and see CT, who won't talk to them at all. Leah calls him on it, but he's silent. CT interviews that he's not going to be buddy-buddy with them when they've been talking behind his back. CT and Mike walk out. Apparently, it's time for Mike to go home, and they're headed to the airport. CT complains about Leah's attitude. Mike makes fun of Leah's accent. He should talk. In a confessional, CT says that he's going to talk to his roommates, but that he doesn't think it will go well.
Adam comes bouncing out of the house like a frog, with his hair flopping all around. He interviews that his friend Samir is coming to visit, and that they've known each other since the sixth grade. Adam greets Samir at the train station. Adam dances down the street like a buffoon, and Samir reciprocates. What a couple of dillholes. In a confessional, Adam says he likes his roommates, but that there's no substitute for an old friend. Adam tells Samir that they're going out tonight and probably won't get home until 6:30 AM. I feel so old, because that sounds like no kind of fun to me. Adam promises that there will be hot girls there. Samir says that if they had that kind of nightlife in L.A., they would never get anything done. Yes, because L.A. is a city that has no clubs. Adam interviews that he and Samir like to party like rock stars, then pass out, wake up, and do it all over again.
Adam introduces Samir to his roommates. Leah acts like she already knows him, and gives him a big hug. Leah interviews that Samir has a great attitude, and that she thinks he's cute. She does? First of all, he's like four feet tall, and I'm willing to overlook that, but this guy looks like a douche. Maybe it's the visor that tipped me off. Samir asks Leah if she's going out with them. Leah gives him a look like, "Uh, duh!" and says that she certainly is. Where in the hell is Ace during all this? You'd think he'd be all over the partying.
The morning, CT offers to make Leah a protein shake. She eats peanut butter straight from the jar with her finger (classy!) and asks how things are going with him and Jamie. CT says things are a little sad, and that he didn't appreciate Leah's telling Jamie about his conversation with Mike in the hot tub. Leah claims that Jamie heard it herself. Except, according to the timeline offered by the show last week (which I thought was fishy at the time), Wendy and Jamie were out of the house when CT and Mike had their conversation. CT says that Jamie claims someone told her. CT interviews that he doesn't want this confrontation to escalate, since that's what happened with Adam, and he feels like an ass now. CT suggests to Leah that Christina talked to Jamie about him. Leah has no response.
In a confessional, Leah says she's going to go shower. The camera cuts to the silhouettes of Leah and Samir in the shower together. Poor Simon is standing right outside, and clearly has no idea what is going on a few feet away. Leah interviews that she's fun. Simon interviews that he thinks Giuseppe is "a really nice guy," and that he doesn't know what's going on. The schoolmarmish way Simon said that really cracked me up. Samir hops out of the shower and says that it's a really good one. I don't have any problem with Leah hooking up with multiple guys in such a short time span, because more power to her. I just hope Giuseppe is allowed to do the same, or has at least agreed to it. I do think it's kind of rude to do it in the communal shower, when all your roommates are around, but whatever. Clearly, none of them really cared.
And now it's time for the Most Awesome Thing I Saw on TV Last Week. The most awesome thing I saw on TV last week was the episode of Little House where Laura and her little buddy (who looks like a Monchichi) think they find gold in Plum Creek or whatever the creek was where they always went fishing. So it all starts when Mary drops a nickel on the ground and Willie and Monchichi get in a fight over it. Luckily, Mary is able to identify her nickel by the dent in the side (what?), so Miss Beadle gives it back to her and makes a comment about Sutter's Mill. This leads to a class lesson about Sutter's Mill, because Miss Beadle is all about the teachable moments. So then Laura and Monchichi go fishing and Monchichi hooks a fish and his line gets snagged and Laura goes into the water to help out and she's thrashing around like a bear and the fish gets away, plus she scares off all the other fish, like, good one, Laura. But then Laura notices all of these gold flakes on the bottom of the creek, like, how did they come to this creek practically every day and never notice the gold flakes before? But such is the way of Little House, so you just have to go with it. So then Laura and Monchichi decide to take all the gold out and get lots of money for their families, but they have to keep it a secret or it will be Sutter's Mill all over again. But the awesome parts were the fantasies that Laura had about her life after she got rich from the gold. In the first one, she and Mary wore all white and tiaras and rode up to school in a carriage. And Nellie and Willie were standing there in ratty clothes and dirty hair, like, I don't know why they got poor just because Laura got rich, like, apparently the wealth in Walnut Grove was a zero-sum game. And then Laura and Mary presented Miss Beadle with a box full of shiny apples, and then Nellie gave Miss Beadle an old, wormy apple and Miss Beadle just tossed it over her shoulder, which was pretty awesome. And then in Laura's second fantasy, the whole Ingalls clan was dressed all in white and the dirty Olesons were waiting on them hand and foot. And then in her third fantasy, every business in town had been renamed for the Ingalls family, including the Ingalls Mill, the Ingalls Bank, and the Ingalls Mercantile. Also, the town was renamed Ingalls Grove. So I guess Laura never heard of a little thing called humility. But then at the end, it turned out that it was fool's gold instead of real gold and Laura was all bummed out and they played the Little House theme in a minor key, but then Pa came and they had a heart-to-heart and everything was better. Which was awesome.
Eiffel Tower Shot Quarante-Huit. Leah and Samir run to the train station. Leah interviews that Samir is a lot of fun; he's cute, and she's allowed. Leah grinds her ass up against Samir in the club. She tells him that he just got lucky in the bathroom with some chick. Samir doesn't really know what to say to that. Leah is clearly digging for a compliment or possibly a repeat performance, but Samir is either too bored or too drunk to figure out what's going on. More grinding ensues.
Leah comes up to Simon and drunkenly slurs that she misses Giuseppe. I think Leah is the prototype for Drunk Girl on SNL. Simon suggests that Leah actually just misses the idea of Giuseppe. Leah says that Simon sounds like her mom. Simon say that Leah just misses Florence. Leah whines that Giuseppe is nice to her. Simon isn't sure that Leah loves him. Simon interviews that Leah does miss Giuseppe, and that it's more serious than he originally thought. Simon advises her to give it time and see how she feels.
This begins the Simon drinking montage, which is kind of insensitively set to some Irish music. Oh, those Irish! They do love to drink. Simon downs glass after glass. Outside, Leah and Samir try to flag down a cab while Simon sits to a lamppost and looks like he wants to die. Samir starts using the word "herre" (à la Nelly) way too much. Man, that guy is annoying. Simon starts puking all over the street. Samir suggests that he wait until he get home. Like Simon's just going to hold it. Samir asks Simon if he had pasta, since you can see the noodles in his puke. Ew. That's nasty. Also, some friend you are, Leah, leaving Simon to puke alone. Samir snags a cab and they take off. Back at the house, Simon has to stop every few steps to puke. I have so been there, and it sucks so bad. Leah actually does help out this time, and we get to see every chunk as it leaves Simon's mouth. That is so unnecessary. Leah gets Simon into bed and removes his boots and pants. Leah interviews that she felt bad for Simon. Leah gets into bed with Simon and turns off the light. Samir sneaks into the room and whispers Leah's name. Leah interviews that everyone needs a little action sometimes, but that she's not interested right now.
The morning, CT and Christina go out to lunch. In a confessional, CT says he's going to talk to Christina about the situation and their relationship as a whole. Christina says that it's hard for CT to open up. CT admits that he's defensive and private. Christina says that's why his roommates don't know anything about him. She thinks it's sad that she learned more about him from Jamie. CT doesn't think that's weird, because that's how most people find out about him. Christina asks if he trusts her or anybody. Christina interviews that CT is upset that he's alone, but that he's isolated himself. CT says that when other people had guests, he didn't involve them in roommate issues, and that he feels like Christina did that with Jamie. He thinks Christina tried to put him in a bad light to Jamie. Christina denies that she did that. CT says that Jamie was complaining about things that Christina has said in the past. Christina tries to explain about her conversation with Wendy, in the course of which she basically said that CT has to accept blame for his isolation from the other roommates. CT says he learned from Jamie's visit, because she got along well with the female roommates, and that it made him take credit for his relationships in the house. Christina interviews that this conversation was very different from her past arguments with CT, because this time he's willing to listen.
CT and Christina go into a restaurant and sit down. CT says that when he came to Paris, he was determined not to change, but now he realizes that there might be more to the world than Boston. Christina interviews that she thinks CT is misunderstood, because he has a lot to say, but that you have to take the time to listen, and most people don't. In a confessional, CT says that it would be a shame if they didn't learn anything from their roommates. CT and Christina toast to communication and new beginnings.
Adam and Samir do a much less endearing toast in a bar. Adam says that he's glad Samir came and brought his roommates out of their shells. He's psyched that Leah took a shower with Samir. A little too psyched, if you ask me. Then Adam starts talking in a language I don't understand that seems to consist mostly of nonsense syllables and gestures and things like "how we do" and "East coast." Samir thinks his trip was great because Simon threw up.
Leah calls Giuseppe. He says he misses her and her voice, and asks why she didn't call him. Leah says she's tired. Giuseppe says he'll know everything that she's doing there at some point. I don't know. English is not his first language, so it's kind of difficult for me to understand him. I think he's saying that even though Leah is too tired to talk right now, she can talk to him later. Leah interviews that she's not in love with Giuseppe, because that takes time, but that she is in love with the attention he gives her. At least she's honest, I guess. Giuseppe apologizes for being tired too, and Leah hangs up.
Adam tells Leah that she's doing what he wishes his other roommates would do, which is not be afraid to go out and have a good time. Leah asks herself questions and answers them, and you know how I feel about that. Leah says that she does want to pursue something with Giuseppe, but that she seized the moment with Samir. Adam interviews that Leah is "a normal, young, red-blooded American woman" who shouldn't shy away from fun. Leah says that Giuseppe makes her feel good and he adores her. I don't see how she can say that out loud and not realize how self-absorbed it sounds.
week: Adam's parents split up. Leah gets an upsetting letter from her doctor.
