S25E08

Penner confronts the people he thought were in his alliance about nearly voting him out, and no one really has a good excuse, so he decides that he's playing for himself now. Meanwhile, Lisa is trying to decide between staying loyal to the former Tandang, or teaming up with everyone else once Penner and Skupin are gone.

For the reward challenge, they are divided randomly into two teams. A teammate swims out to a buoy and releases a fish trap, then gets pulled in by his or her team. Due to Penner's puzzle skills, the team of Penner, Jeff Kent, Denise, Malcolm, and Lisa get a reward of a homecooked picnic lunch.

While the others are on reward, Pete floats to Abi that they should get rid of Penner first, and then follow up with Jeff Kent and Carter and Denise and Malcolm and THEN Skupin. Pete and Abi seem to be getting on one another's nerves. Meanwhile, the people on the Reward bitch about how Pete, Abi, and Artis are bullies and negative, and Penner tries to convince everyone to do something about it.

Lisa decides that the only way she can win in the end is if she sticks with the former Tandang, since she's more likable than all of them combined. She tells Skupin about Malcolm's hidden Immunity Idol, and adds that once Penner is gone, they need to blindside Malcolm. Lisa's totally right, but she's killing me because she's plotting to take out all of my favorite players.

Penner knows he needs to win Immunity to have any chance at staying. The challenge involves an obstacle course, collecting puzzle pieces along the way. The top three finishers get a chance to solve the puzzle and win Immunity. Pete and Jeff Kent are the first two across the line, and it comes to Skupin and Penner for that final slot. Penner dives across the finish line and wins a slot in the finals.

So now it's Jeff Kent, Pete, and Penner completing a puzzle. I don't think Pete's that great, but Jeff Kent is no puzzle slouch – he's been right there with Penner during all those puzzle challenges. Pete and Jeff Kent take an early lead and then Penner comes out of nowhere and blasts past them and wins Immunity. It's his first time ever winning individual immunity; no one but him is happy.

Back at camp, everyone scrambles to figure out the plan now that they can't vote out Penner. They quickly decide to get rid of Skupin. Lisa sets her plan in motion and tells Pete about Malcolm's idol and that they have to blindside him. Pete doesn’t like any plan that he didn't come up with, so he asks Malcolm if he has the idol, and Malcolm denies it. Pete's spreading lies all over the place: he told Malcolm that Lisa was the information source, and tells Lisa that he didn't reveal that she was the source. They all agree to vote out Jeff Kent, but then Malcolm makes a last-minute pitch to vote out Pete.

So let me review, because this has gone insane. First, they were going to vote out Penner. Penner won immunity, so they all went to the person on the list: Skupin. Lisa didn't want to see Skupin go, so she made a pitch to blindside Malcolm. Malcolm denied he had the Idol, and somehow they all decided to vote out Jeff Kent (not sure why they didn't go back to Skupin except that Lisa refused to vote for him maybe?) It's also possible the Jeff Kent vote was always a ruse to keep Malcolm from playing his Idol. As they were gathering their things for Tribal, Malcolm and Jeff Kent had a brief conversation and decided to vote out Pete with their six votes (Malcolm, Denise, Jeff Kent, Carter, Penner, and Skupin). I don't know what the fudge is going to happen at this Tribal Council.

At Tribal Council, Malcolm says right away that Lisa threw him under the bus. Lisa just lays it all out and tells the truth about what she did and why she did it. Abi speaks up and says that she didn't want to blindside Malcolm because she thought he was part of their Tandang alliance. Lisa points out that she was willing to vote out Skupin, who was actually on their tribe from day one. Abi says that Skupin was never part of their alliance, but she forgets to mention Malcolm as being in that alliance. Oops. Malcolm holds up his Idol and tells everyone that he's playing it now because it's put too much of a target on his back. Abi stupidly reveals that she also has an Idol, a fact that surprised most of Kalabaw. She is dumb. There was no reason to reveal that information.

Penner makes their alliance overt, and asks that Denise, Malcolm, Carter, and Jeff Kent keep him and Skupin around, at least for a while, to get rid of the former Tandang. Lisa makes her pitch, which is that the former Tandang should stick with their Plan B, which I think is to vote out Jeff Kent. So am I crazy or does this all hinge on Skupin? Otherwise it's a tie. I am seriously counting this out on my fingers. This has been a great Tribal Council. I can't believe Pete apparently didn't have a backup plan THAT EVERYONE AGREED TO in case Penner won immunity. What a dummy.

After Jeff tallies the votes, Malcolm doesn't play his Idol because he doesn't need to and Abi doesn't because I guess she's not scared. Penner throws a vote to Abi. WHY???????? Was he confused? We SAW Jeff Kent tell him they were voting out Pete. So Lisa, Abi, Pete, Artis, and Skupin vote for Jeff and Jeff, Malcolm, Denise, and Carter vote for Pete. That's five votes for Jeff and he goes home. I do not get Penner's vote AT ALL, other than maybe he just wanted to blow things up and see what landed since he was mad at his former alliance for betraying him? And I guess we know where Skupin's loyalties lie. Ugh. This game. Meanwhile, Jeff Kent reveals his true colors in his exit interview as he bitches about how he didn't really need the prize money, since he's a multimillionaire, but he wanted it anyway.

Immediately after Tribal Council, Penner confronts Jeff Kent by basically saying, "What the fuck, dude?" Penner wants to know why the people he thought were in his alliance didn't vote out Pete, as they must have discussed. Jeff Kent mumbles something about not having the numbers and no one would commit, but he won't come out and say that he was working with Pete and the gang, so he really has nothing.

Penner interviews that it does hurt to be betrayed, because it means that you were out of the loop and people were talking behind your back. Penner flat-out asks Denise if she voted for RC, and she admits that she voted for him, because she has her own strategy for herself that may or may not work out in the end. It's nice that she takes responsibility without making things personal or ratting out anyone else. Jeff Kent hops on that bandwagon and says that, as things shook out, he had the choice of either sticking to principle and refusing to vote for Penner -- which would have been bad for him personally -- or latching onto Tandang's vote and hopefully sending himself further in the game. Penner just nods, because he can't argue with making a move to save yourself; it's the centerpiece of the game. You can't be the noble, loyal martyr and also win. It doesn't work that way, unless by being the martyr you somehow curry favor with enough people to escape getting voted out.

Jeff Kent is lying though; he voted for Penner because he has some weird vendetta against the veterans and he wanted Penner to leave. He's making it out like it's nothing personal and he just went with the wishes of the majority. Jeff Kent interviews that the plan is to keep Penner from winning immunity now that his Idol is gone, and then vote him out . Jeff Kent also knows that he gave up some power by folding in with the former Tandang; he went from top dog in Kalabaw to bottom feeder in Tandang. He's not worried, I guess?

Skupin goes up to Penner and tells him not to give up yet, because there are definitely cracks in the Tandang alliance that could be exploited. Penner wants to know who they should work with, and Skupin is like, "I can't say, but there are cracks, but either I don't know where the cracks are or there are no cracks, but there might be cracks." I mean, he's right; Tandang is not one big happy family by a longshot. But Skupin needs to commit, because he's part of a faction. At least that's how I'd feel if I were Penner. Penner interviews that he's not going to quit, but the only way he can go further is if he backs off and tries to fly under the radar. He adds that he has no alliances or allegiances anymore.

The day, Penner goes out fishing with Lisa and Abi (who sit in the boat and do nothing, although at least Lisa bails water out of the boat so she's not totally useless.) Penner has no luck fishing. Glad his tribe isn't relying on him for food as he's not quite the provider he claimed to be earlier. Lisa interviews that everyone is focused on getting out Penner and Skupin, and once that happens, her plan is to team with Jeff Kent, Carter, Malcolm and Denise to pick off the rest of Tandang. Lisa and Jeff Kent go to get tree mail and talk strategy. Jeff Kent floats the idea of teaming up with Lisa to take out Abi, Artis and Pete. Lisa likes the sound of that. Jeff Kent interviews that Lisa is soft and naïve and nice, and it might work if he teams with her. Oh, Jeff. Lisa is nice, but she's also shrewd.

Time for the Reward Challenge. Probst explains that they will divide into two teams. One at a time, each person will run into the water, holding a rope and hook it to a fish trap, and then be pulled back to shore by their team. Once all four fish traps are collected, another teammate will dig up a key to unlock a puzzle frame. Two teammates will use the puzzle scrolls from the fish traps to complete a scroll in the frame. The winning team gets a feast while on a river cruise.

We don't see how they are divided up; presumably it's a random draw because they would totally show it if it were a schoolyard pick. The teams end up being Carter, Artis, Skupin, Pete and Abi versus Jeff Kent, Penner, Malcolm, Denise and Lisa. Interesting how Artis, Pete and Abi ended up on the same team. Abi and Jeff Kent are the first two out. I guess Abi's knee feels better. The thing that cracks me up the most is that Lisa already has her snorkel mask on even though she won't be swimming for about two more rounds. I guess she just wants to be prepared. Jeff Kent gets back first.

Penner has a big lead on Pete as they both head out and then get pulled back. Lisa and Carter are the two out and Lisa is... not a strong swimmer. Carter passes her quickly. I don't know why they put Lisa, their weakest swimmer, third. She has the second longest distance to swim. Why not put her first? Unless the idea is that they'll be more tired by then and she's a lighter weight to pull back in.

Skupin is for his team, and he's already to his buoy when Denise heads into the water. Skupin being Skupin, he can't find the fish trap even though I'm pretty sure you just have to follow the rope down. It does look pretty murky under there, but he complains that he can't see it. Denise takes the opportunity to catch up and Skupin finally finds the fish trap and also gets hauled back to the beach.

Malcolm got a head start in digging for the key, but once Skupin gets back, Artis starts digging too and finds the key almost immediately. As his team starts unpacking their puzzle scrolls, Malcolm finds his key, so now Penner and Jeff Kent can start working on their puzzle. I'm not sure why they didn't have Lisa working on the puzzle too, although it does seem more physical than cerebral, since the puzzle seems quite easy, but you have to load these scrolls into a giant vertical frame. Penner and Jeff Kent start assembling their puzzle first and move very quickly. (I told you it was easy.) Although it's close, Penner and Jeff Kent finish first and their team wins reward. It was very nice of the producers or random chance or whatever to put all the people I like (Lisa, Denise, Malcolm and Penner) on one team so I could be happy when they won.

Back at camp, the losing team cooks up some beans and rice. I know it would get old, but at least they have beans. It doesn't look that bad. Artis interviews that he really wanted the reward, but he's also there to win the game and it won't kill him to eat beans and rice. Abi talks to Carter about her alliance and confirms that it's her, Artis, Pete and Lisa. Skupin is standing RIGHT THERE. Also, note that she didn't mention Malcolm -- this will be important later. Abi tells Carter that he's with Jeff and she guesses they are part of the alliance too, since they all want to get rid of Penner. Abi also claims that there's no hierarchy in their alliance but even dumb old Carter knows that's not true. Pete interviews that Abi talks too much. Pete takes Abi down to the beach for a chat. He proposes that the current plan is to get rid of Penner and then Skupin, but instead they should get rid of Penner and the rest of the former Kalabaw and then Skupin. Abi's fine with it and then she and Pete bicker over who's more annoying, basically, and FINE GUYS YOU BOTH WIN! Seriously, these two are human garbage. Pete interviews that he wishes he could vote Abi out, but he knows that he'd beat her in a final three.

The other team is having their river cruise with a giant feast. Denise interviews that their team was a good group that meshed well. Lisa mentions that she feels badly for Skupin because he's stuck with the rest of them, who are all negative. Malcolm agrees and interviews that it feels like "good versus evil." Malcolm clarifies that the "evil three are Artis, Abi and Pete." Lisa reveals that if you get in their line of fire, you're gone -- so you just have to kiss the ring. Penner hates that sort of tyrannical behavior.

Malcolm recognizes that Penner wants to point everyone towards Abi, Artis or Pete because that will mean people aren't focused on him. And sure enough, Penner gives a big speech about how he's definitely going home, but he'd like to see one of the others on the boat win or Carter (really? HIM?) and there must be a way to make it happen. Lisa (who Jeff Kent called sweet and naïve, remember) interviews that it sounds noble to go to the end with four other people that she likes and respects, but she's not playing to get to the final five. She wants to go to the final three with two people she knows that she can beat, because that's how you win. That might be the most succinct and accurate description of how to play this game I've ever seen on this show. It sucks that Lisa is probably going to take out the people that I like, because she doesn't think she can beat them in the end. But she's totally right and as strategies go, it's the best one I've heard voiced so far this season.

The morning, Lisa interviews that she knows someone is going to wake up and figure out that, once Penner is gone, it's going to be five on four and you want to make sure you're in the five and not the four. Lisa also knows that it makes more sense for her and Skupin to team with Artis, Abi and Pete, since no one likes them. Lisa plans to assure Skupin that he doesn't need to scramble and make alliances on her own, because she's got it handled.

So she does exactly that: she pulls Skupin aside and reminds him that once Penner is gone, Skupin is on the chopping block. EXCEPT, Lisa reveals that Malcolm has the Hidden Immunity Idol. So she plans to convince Pete that Tandang needs to hang together and blindside Malcolm or they're out of power. Skupin asks the question that no one seems to be thinking about -- what happens if Penner wins immunity. Before Lisa can answer, Penner walks up and Lisa honestly says that they were just talking about him and he knows that she and Skupin are tight. They joke about how Skupin needs immunity, but Penner plans to win it. If only it were that easy. Skupin interviews that it's going to be dogfight at the challenge and Penner interviews that he's NEVER won an individual immunity before. Man, I was feeling a lot less nervous about his chances until he revealed that fact.

Probst welcomes them all to the challenge and explains how it will work. They need to go over and under wooden barriers while untying bags of puzzle pieces. The first three people across the finish line with three bags of puzzle pieces move on to the final round, which involves opening the bags and assembling a wooden snake puzzle from the pieces. And, as has been stated, it's basically everyone against Penner. They start out and Jeff Kent, Pete, Skupin, Penner and Malcolm seem to be way in front from the beginning. Abi is limping heavily all of a sudden. Pete breezes through the course and crosses the finish line first. Jeff Kent is not far behind him. So now it comes down to Skupin and Penner, battling it out for that third slot. They seem to finish untying their last bag at the same time, with Skupin maybe a bit ahead, but then Penner just dives for it and makes it over the finish line first, earning a spot in the final.

Jeff Kent, Pete and Penner line up to assemble the snake puzzle. Penner seems way behind at the beginning, but apparently he was just getting the big picture instead of assembling the puzzle piece by piece, because when he does start assembling, he goes like a house afire. Everyone watching is quietly urging Pete or Jeff Kent to win; otherwise, all their big plans go down in flames. Penner is a machine, playing pieces quickly and efficiently and he passes Pete and Jeff Kent and ultimately wins. Holy crap. That was intense. And really good television. I knew the various alliances should make a Plan B, because you just never know with this game. Penner kisses the head of the snake puzzle and tells Jeff Probst that it's his first time winning immunity. Jeff Kent murmurs, "What a choke." I think. It could have been, "What a joke," but I don't think so. Penner grins while everyone else looks despondent.

They all return to camp and most of the tribe has recovered enough to congratulate Penner on his win. Malcolm interviews that the one thing they didn't want to happen has happened and now they are scrambling to figure out who to get rid of instead of Penner. I still seriously can't believe that they never even discussed this.

Malcolm, Jeff Kent and Pete have a quick conference where they decide that Skupin should go, since he was anyway. They tell Lisa and Carter, neither of whom is surprised. As they break up, Malcolm quickly asks Pete what he's going to tell Skupin, like who are they going to say they're voting for. Pete's so dumb (or egotistical... or both) that he doesn't think they need a cover story, like Skupin won't ask who everyone is voting for or figure out that it's probably him. Ugh. Pete feels like Skupin knows, which he probably does, but that doesn't mean he won't scramble.

Lisa decides it's time to put her plan in motion and pulls Pete aside to tell him that Malcolm has a hidden Immunity Idol. Lisa explains how she knows and that they need to blindside Malcolm NOW, and whatever else they do, don't let Malcolm know that they're going to vote him out. Pete interviews that he's shocked to find this out, because he trusted Malcolm. But it totally makes sense and Lisa has no reason to lie about it, really. So we'll see what Pete does. And what Pete does is sit in the shelter and pout for a while.

And then Pete takes Malcolm aside and asks if he has an Idol. Because if Malcolm hasn't told him already, he's DEFINITELY going to admit it now, when he knows that everyone is casting about for someone to eliminate. Dummy. Malcolm denies it and asks who said he had one, and Pete the Idiot tells him it was Lisa. Malcolm interviews that his first instinct was to deny it, but if the rumors out there, pretty soon everyone will know. So Malcolm asks Pete if he needs to scramble and Pete says that he can save Malcolm, and they should vote out Jeff. Malcolm agrees with that plan (and would probably agree to vote for anyone but Denise at this point, and maybe even her). What a terrible feeling that would be. Malcolm thought he was totally safe and now that they are hours away from Tribal Council, he suddenly finds out that his world has dropped out from beneath him.

Here's how dumb Pete is: he interviews that Malcolm freaked out over their conversation, which convinced Pete that Malcolm doesn't have the Idol. HUH? You asked him if he had it and he got really nervous and shifty when he said no. Because maybe he was LYING? Pete, if you make it to the finals, I will riot. Because you are a terrible player.

Pete and Malcolm talk to Skupin, Penner and Carter and Malcolm reveals that Lisa's going around saying that he has an Idol. None of them had heard anything, so maybe Malcolm is overdoing the damage control a bit. Carter asks if Malcolm really doesn't have it and Malcolm doesn't say anything, so Carter jokes that he was going to tell Malcolm to play it if he did. They all agree to vote out Jeff Kent really quickly. Pete interviews that he wanted to take out Jeff Kent before Skupin anyway, so it's fine.

Lisa pulls Pete aside (there are so many people pulling other people aside in this episode!) and asks what went down, and Pete lies that he didn't tell Malcolm that Lisa was the one who busted him. Lisa has got to be like "HUGE SIGH" internally, because Pete clearly doesn't understand the concept of a blindside and how it works. Lisa asks if she's on the chopping block and Pete says that it's Jeff Kent. Pete interviews that "playing the mastermind role is really hard work." Um, what exactly have you masterminded, dipshit? Getting RC out? People were just looking for someone to vote out first, so it wasn't like it took a ton of convincing. Turning Abi against RC? That was going to implode anyway and was already halfway there. Did you mastermind BEING A DIPSHIT? That one I will give you. Dipshit.

Jeff Kent walks up to a group that includes Malcolm and Pete and wonders what they're talking about. Pete wanders away and Malcolm says that both his name and Jeff Kent's name are being tossed around. Jeff Kent points out that they could gather six votes right now and go rogue: Jeff Kent, Malcolm, Skupin, Denise, Penner and Carter. As everyone gathers their torches to head to Tribal, there is going to be yet another change to the voting strategy. Jeff Kent and Malcolm quickly decide to vote out Pete and head out to spread the word. Malcolm tells Denise, who readily agrees. Jeff Kent goes to Penner, who seems to agree, and Malcolm tells Skupin, who also seems to agree. That seems really shaky, since Penner is pissed at everyone and Skupin has never been part of their alliance before. Jeff Kent tells Carter that they're voting out Pete, and Carter says, "I thought they were sending you home tonight." Jeff Kent has an incredulous look on his face that is a combination of, "Holy shit, they want to send me home," and, "Holy shit, why didn't you tell me this earlier, alliance-mate?" It's pretty hilarious.

Malcolm hurriedly digs up his Immunity Idol and then has to do a quick interview where he says that if he feels nervous at all about his standing, he's playing the Idol. And that he thinks they're voting out Pete but this has all been a mad scramble in the past hour. It's tough to tell the passage of time, but it seems like Lisa told Pete about Malcolm's Idol like an hour ago and everything else we've seen transpired in an hour. This is nuts. I wish every episode were like this. They went from Penner to Skupin to Jeff Kent to Malcolm to Pete in the blink of an eye. And God knows what other names were floated out there that we didn't see because it never gained traction. Anyway, off they head to what is shaping up to be a memorable Tribal Council.

Probst welcomes them and brings in RC, the first jury member. A lot of the guys are trying to make eyes at her... like, calm down, numbnuts. Probst starts asking if the anti-veteran sentiment still remains and Skupin says that it does, but he was less nervous once he heard people talking after the challenge. Malcolm chuckles bitterly and says that he trusted Lisa and she threw him under the bus. Lisa says that is true and lays out for Probst what's going on. They were all going to vote Penner and then he won immunity, so everyone decided to vote Skupin. He's her closest ally, so she thought it made sense to vote out the person she considers the biggest threat in the game, Malcolm.

Probst thinks he knows what's going on and points out that there are the five former Tandang, then the four former Kalabaw and then Malcolm's a bit of a floater. He asks Denise if this gives her hope that Malcolm will join their side and even things up and Denise says that "every crack is an opportunity."

Probst asks if Abi is upset that one of her tribemates might have just screwed things up by alienating Malcolm. Abi says that she is, and it's ludicrous. Lisa calmly points out that Abi was going to vote out Skupin, who was an original Tandang member. Abi reminds her that RC and Skupin were always outsiders in their tribe, and it was always Lisa, Abi, Pete and Artis. Malcolm makes a gesture like, "Hello? I'm right here!" Abi realizes, too late, that she slipped and forgot to pretend that Malcolm mattered to her and tries to backpedal, but Probst tells her it's kind of too late for that. Awesome.

Lisa says that if someone has a hidden Immunity Idol, you have to flush it out or blindside them. Probst clarifies that she's saying that Malcolm has an idol and Lisa says that she was playing both sides, but ultimately brought the information back to Tandang to make them stronger. Sounds like someone accused her of flip-flopping or not being loyal to Tandang and it got edited out. Malcolm pulls out his Idol and holds it up, telling everyone that he's planning on playing it since it's put a target on his back and if anyone is going to jump in with Lisa and vote for him, they're in for a surprise. Well, not really a surprise, since he just told them he's going to play it. Everyone but Lisa and Denise looks around like, "WTF?" Except for Dipshit Pete who starts chewing his nail like, "But I thought he was my friiiiii-eeeeend." This just keeps getting better and better.

Probst asks, seemingly as almost a joke, "Anyone else want to reveal they have an Idol? Get it out?" Everyone chuckles until Abi reaches into her bag and says, "I have it," and claims she was going to use it to protect people in her alliance. Like who? Skupin? Malcolm? Anyone except Pete? She's so full of shit. I don't know if she was scared people were going to vote for her or if she just wasn't thinking, but there was no reason to reveal that information. Everyone is just chuckling, because this is nuts and there is really no other appropriate reaction.

Then I'm not quite sure what to make of Penner's little speech, given what happens . Penner says that there are six people who can make something happen right now and he wonders if they're willing to commit even if it means keeping him and Skupin around for a while. Penner makes it clear that he's talking about Denise, Malcolm, Jeff Kent, himself, Skupin and Carter. So I guess they're voting for Pete. Lisa asks that the people in her alliance go to Plan B (Jeff Kent) so that they can keep their majority. Probst says that there are two pitches: Lisa's Plan B or Penner saying that they should vote out Lisa, Abi, Pete or Artis. Pete speaks up and says he's probably the one they would vote out because his name has been thrown around a lot. Has it? We haven't seen that until like an hour ago. Jeff Kent points out that his and Malcolm's names were also being tossed around, along with Skupin, Lisa and Abi. In other words, shut up, Pete. And stop feeling sorry for yourself, dipshit. Probst says that he can't think of a more complicated or entertaining Tribal ever and I have to agree. I have no idea what's going on, what's going to happen or what the fallout will be. At this point, I think that the six will vote out Pete and it will be awesome.

Voting begins. Lisa votes for Jeff, which we knew would happen, and says that she called her vote Plan B, but it's actually Plan D or E. Denise votes for Pete and says she loved watching his alliance implode. Penner is last to vote, though we don't see what he writes.

Probst tallies the votes and asks if anyone wants to play a hidden Immunity Idol. Everyone looks at Abi and Malcolm. Malcolm has his out, but stays quiet, because the threat of playing it made actually playing it unnecessary, he hopes. Time to read the votes. First vote: Abi. Who voted for Abi? Skupin, in an attempt to avoid pissing off either side? Then there's one vote for Jeff and one vote for Pete. Malcolm looks at Jeff Kent, realizing that the vote for Abi has probably ruined their chance to get rid of Pete cleanly. The votes alternate between Jeff and Pete until they each have four, with one vote going to Abi and one vote left. Probst reads the final vote: it's Jeff. He's gone.

I could NOT figure out what happened, so I had to watch the voting over the credits. Turns out that the former Tandang (Lisa, Skupin, Abi, Pete and Artis) really did vote Plan B and all voted for Jeff. The former Kalabaw plus Malcolm all voted for Pete. Except for Penner, who voted for Abi. Did he do it to cause chaos? Did he know that it would mean that Jeff Kent would go home? Did he know Abi had an Idol and was hoping that his vote would get cancelled out but her Idol would get flushed out too? I know Penner was pissed at Jeff Kent and it is really satisfying to see Jeff Kent go home before Penner after his dickishness last week, but I can't wait to hear Penner's explanation.

Anyway, Jeff Kent's torch is snuffed. Malcolm looks like he STILL can't figure out what happened. I couldn't either, dude. Probst tells them that this may be one of the biggest blown opportunities in this game and I had no idea what he was talking about, but he clarified in a later interview that he meant he thought Penner blew an opportunity to firm up his alliance and take control of the game. He could be right, but I have to guess that Penner has a plan and wasn't just voting whatever to be like Loki. In his exit interview, Jeff Kent laments that he's super rich and yet he really wanted this money, which would be even less money once Obama took it (does Obama get my taxes?
