Still no sign from Jane. Seriously, this is ridiculous. They should maybe consider not starting each show highlighting Cassie's domestic situation, as it's getting less realistic than the witch stuff or someone looking like her and being considered an outsider in high school. Apparently, she told Diana that she and Jake dug up her father's grave. Adam's sort of CRAZY when he finds out. It all boils down to him just really hating Jake, and can you blame him? In any other world -- and I mean world -- Adam would be the cutest guy around. But, then Jake comes along and balls shrivel and voices crack. I get it.
This woman named Lucy Gibbons shows up at Cassie's house and it turns out she was the person who saw and spoke to Cassie when she was travelling back in Jake's memory to the day of the fire. She warns Cassie that witchhunters are asking about her. Charlie confronts Dawn, who has a strange cut on her hand, about getting Ethan to go after him. He sounds like he wants to kill her. Ethan asks for Diana's help planning a surprise birthday party for Adam and she agrees, but not before Adam hears them talking. Surprise ruined. At 7 Briar Hill, Jake and Cassie fool around with the medallion that she found on the boat, in an effort to unleash its power. Wind starts to whip around in the basement and she tells Jake to run - but instead, he tackles her, breaking whatever spell was happening. Lame. Also, lame? Adam walking in at that moment and seeing them on the floor together and thinking it's what it looks like. Cassie tells him about Lucy's visit and that witch hunters are coming after them.
Faye, always such a good friend, gives Melissa that devil's tooth powder or whatever. Jake and Cassie go to Lucy who says that she can find the medallion spell for them. After they leave, Dawn shows up. She had "marked" Lucy those many years ago and that's what the cut on her hand was. She says that Lucy betrayed them before. She blames her for not seeing that the witch hunters were coming after them (Lucy's a psychic). She tells her that she wants help finding the remaining family crystals.
Jake and Cassie get back to her place to find that the medallion is missing. But, she has to get to Adam's birthday party, which Diana had one afternoon to plan. Why? Melissa's hopped up on the devil's dramalam and Faye accidentally loses the rest of their stash, prompting Melissa to get Faye to call the dealer. Charlie tries to get cozy with Ethan, but he's not having it. Also, he seems to be fully aware of Charlie's attempted manipulation. Callum shows up with drugs and takes a shine to Melissa. Fun! Adam returns the medallion to Cassie- he had stolen it. She gets Jake to admit he had killed witches, which is apparently a turn-off for her. Lucy arrives at Dawn's house and stabs her in the gut! She is on the side of the witch hunters and apparently always has been.
Charlie steals the crystal from a sleeping and ill Ethan. The Circle meet Lucy in the woods and start chanting something that's supposed to keep them safe from witch hunters. But, the spell Lucy gives them is actually trying to take their powers away. Cassie breaks free and almost kills Lucy. She finds out that her father is still alive then tells Lucy to never return to Chance Harbour. Charlie finds Dawn stabbed on the floor and uses the crystal to bring her back to life.
It has taken exactly a day for Melissa to get addicted to drugs. Jake booty calls Faye and boy does she answer. Lucy goes to the head witch hunter, who has nasty burns from the fire, and he slits her throat when he finds that she failed to take the power of The Circle. Cassie spends her free time in the basement of 7 Briar Hill making the wind whip. When she finishes, she feels as if she's been with her father.
Want more? The full recap starts right below! We begin with Cassie at her house, carrying luggage downstairs, when a bell signals someone at the door. It's Adam. She asks how he... Oh, Diana told him she was there. Is Jane back? Nope, just grabbing some more stuff. Stop. They are really going off the rails with this grandma stuff. Where the hell is she? But, seriously. And, this mysterious Brigadoon for the Neurologically Demised, their treatment is what exactly? Because the length of time is making me think electroshock therapy or lobotomy or something. You'd think Cassie would be a little more concerned and maybe spend a few days watching after the woman.
Anyway, so Adam is steamed because Diana told him that Cassie and Jake dug up her father's grave. She's like, "I know it looks bad." Hey, we don't judge here, Cassie. You won't even check in on your mush-brained granny who took you -- an orphan -- in when you had no one in the world after your mother spirited you away and never even visited. We don't judge that, so why would we judge you for digging up a freaking grave? She tells him that her father didn't die in the fire and she needs to know what happened. Adam, getting heated, says that risking getting caught and exposed is not the way to go about it. He's pissed about her spending time with Jake. He thinks he's bad news. She says that because of Jake, she found the medallion at the boat. Adam replies that he will do whatever it takes to find out if her father is alive, because he cares about her, not because he's obsessed with her dark magic connections. He reminds her that they kissed the other night and says that there is no room for Jake between them. Ew. His jealousy regarding Jake is really not attractive. It's like it's making him actually shrink.
Faye is leaving The Coffee Press with a piping hot cup of witch's brew when she spies Jake. She says that he must be back in town to make sure Adam and Cassie don't get to second base and he replies that jealousy isn't a good look on her. She says that she heard that witch hunters killed his parents -- Jesus, his hair is so beautiful -- and she's sure that he's out for revenge. But she says that he's "barking up the wrong shrub" with Cassie. She won't get it, she's not his type. He says "Thanks Doc" and suggests she get over her feelings of powerlessness by trying to burn down another school. Heh. She smiles and says that's the Jake she remembers.
Cassie's on the edge of her bed looking at the medallion. She goes to her mantle where her Book of Shadows is and puts it there. Then she grabs her stuff and tries to leave again. This time, there's a woman at the door. The woman has a haunted look and says that Cassie is Amelia Blake's daughter. Cassie says she looks familiar and the woman says that they met 16 years earlier during the boat fire! Cue spooky girl la-la!
The woman says that, last week, her memory of the fire changed and she now sees Cassie there. A lawn mower starts and the woman looks around and asks to come in. She says that she's taking a risk by even being there. She comes inside and says that her name is Lucy Gibbons. In her memory, she thought that Cassie was Amelia. Now, she knows that she was visiting through the mind of someone who was already there. So, she just knows that. She asks if Lucy is a witch and she says that she's a psychic. Lucy uses her hands too much and needs to chill out. She says that she was close with her parents' Circle. She says that Cassie's dad was a hero that day and his death was a terrible tragedy. Cassie just trusts everyone and says that she saw her father escape. A car alarm goes off, probably caused by a lawn mower, and Lucy is startled. She says there's no time to talk. She says that she's been hiding from witch hunters since the day of the fire and one finally found her the day before. Well, since you're not a witch and don't need to live near "points of energy" or whatever bullshiz excuse this show would give for why these people are targets but choose to live in the same small town, you're stupid for being so easily found. I'd recommend Canada or central Mississippi. No witch hunters will find you there. She says that the witch hunters are looking for Cassie and they will kill her if they know she's there. Cassie asks why she would risk her life to warn her and she says that her parents meant a lot to her. She tells her where she's staying for the night. No reason why, just tells her. Oh, I bet we're going to look for a reason later.
Dawn is unpacking groceries in her SICK kitchen when she notices a cut on her palm. Kitty must play rough. There's a knock at the door. It's Charlie. He's pissed that she sent Ethan after him. Does she really think an unstable drunk should have the crystal? She just asks when things got so weird between the two of them. Answer? When she tried to kill his mother. You see, that's a real reason to hate someone. She says that, heh, they've both had to do things they're not happy about but their goal of getting their powers back hasn't changed. He simply says that he's going to get the crystal back and then, the time she crosses him will be her last.
At the Boathouse, Diana arrives and asks Ethan where Adam is. He's arriving soon but Ethan says that he would like to talk to her. He wants to throw a surprise birthday party for Adam and would like her help. She'd love to help. She confesses that last year she broke into his locker and filled it with cookies (amazing gift -- though of questionable cleanliness and cookie integrity), but this year she doesn't even know how to sign his card. Ethan apologizes and says that Adam cares about her. Diana says that she's excited to surprise Adam and he's standing right there. So, no surprise, but there will still be a party and its apparently happening that night at 8. Really? That night? No one's going to have other plans? His gifts are all going to be last minute crap. Nice job, sober Ethan. Whatever, he's a DWILF, not a party planner.
At 7 Briar Hill, Jake and Cassie are talking about Lucy. He wonders if her warning is accurate. They also talk about Adam (and possibly Cassie) not trusting him. Who cares about trust? LOOK AT HIM. His face is what marble and butter would look like if they had a baby. I'm crying a little bit right now. Whoever does his hair on this show should get some sort of humanitarian award. Cassie changes the subject (grrr) and asks how the medallion works. She thinks that if they figure out how it works, they can stop the witch hunters forever. He suggests they try it downstairs, since the symbol on the medallion matches the symbol on the ceiling of the basement. Once down there, they don't know what to do. She tries to catch the light or line up the symbols. Nada. Then, she just starts to look at it real hard. The house starts shaking and the wind starts blowing. She says that something feels wrong then she screams for him to run. She can't move. Instead of leaving, he tackles her and she's on top of him when Adam runs downstairs. Oops!
Adam's pissed and walking away with Cassie on his tail. She's trying to explain that they were just trying to learn how the medallion works to protect them from the witch hunters that Lucy told her about. Adam reminds her that Diana's grandmother told her that her father became consumed with dark magic, but she doesn't know what other choice they have. He tells her that she's not alone and the power of the Circle will protect them. She says OK but you know she's not buying it. Has he seen the dark magic on her?
She goes back inside and Jake teases her about running after Adam. She says that they're not done and are going to talk to Lucy. Lucky that she told you where she is staying, though people are out to kill her! The Lucky Circle is what we should call these guys.
Melissa and Faye are having another painful lunch at the Boathouse. Melissa tells Faye that only dog bones were found in John Blackwell's grave. All Faye has to say is to ask if Diana is her new bestie. Wow. She says that Cassie is a creepy Stepford freak with dark magic and daddy issues. Melissa reminds her that they're part of the same Circle. Then, Faye produces the Devil's Spirit junk she got. Melissa asks if she got it from her creepy friend Lee and she says that, no, she got it from his even creepier biker friend. I like the excitement in her voice. We're similar this way. Diana arrives and Faye says Melissa could either go follow orders from her or find the inner Melissa with drugs. Wow, that's a friend.
At the crappiest motel in the world, Jake and Cassie visit Lucy. She lets them in and her hands are already front and center. Cassie asks about the medallion, the Balcoin medallion is what Lucy calls it. She thinks it's missing, but Cassie says that she found it. Lucy says she can help them unlock it, but she wants to know if they're looking for revenge or protection. Jake says both. Wow, this actress really doesn't know how to stop gesticulating. Hands across America up in that joint. She'll meet them at Briar Hill later with the spell. After they leave, there's another knock at the door. It's Dawn, who bursts in. Lucy asks how she found her and Dawn reminds her that, after the day she betrayed them, she told her never to come back. She marked her. The cut on her hand bleeds when Lucy is around! Awesome.
At Cassie's house, she asks Jake to turn away as she looks in her secret spot for the medallion. It's gone! Back at the motel, Dawn is pissed because Lucy was a psychic and should have seen the witch hunters coming, but she argues that they must have blocked her sight. Easy explanation. Dawn says that she might be able to help her. She wants help finding the other family crystals and threatens her, with what I'm not sure. At Cassie's, she remembers that one person has seen her hiding spot.
Adam's birthday party is in full swing. He thanks his dad who says that he should thank Diana. She really knows how to plan. Easy explanation. Outside, Faye says to Melissa that she's impressed that Diana could find enough people to make Adam look like he has more friends than the five of them. Another easy explanation. Melissa says that this isn't easy for Diana. She's all loose-y goose-y right now. She says that she thinks that Diana is brave and strong. What, are the a couple now? Should we call them Delissa? Nice one, Faye. Birth of a meme. Melissa talks about how great the party is and how good those puff pastry things were (Ethan loves Julia Child -- I'm guessing miniature cheese tarts). Faye asks her if she's high. Faye tries to do some herself, but, alas, it all blows away. Melissa tells her to call the biker guy.
Inside, Adam thanks Diana for the party. Cassie arrives and Ethan gives a toast. With a coffee cup. How Cheers. Ethan says that he loves him and that's that. Then, he gives Diana the floor. Her speech is much more eloquent. She says he shared his toys and was nice to others. She looked to him to know what was right or wrong. Charlie shows up and says to Ethan he has made a lot of bad choices. As Ethan walks away, he slips something into his coffee. Cassie confronts Adam and he admits that he took the medallion. He thinks he's protecting her. She wants to use the medallion for protection and she thinks that Adam is just jealous. He says that Jake has killed people, which Cassie doesn't believe.
Callum shows up at the party, but Faye takes him outside. He meets Melissa and takes a liking. Faye tells him to leave and Jake asks if there's any trouble. He tells Callum to leave and he does but not before telling him to watch his back. I'll watch it! And his front. Sorry for that. Adam gives the medallion back to Cassie and says he has no right to make decisions for her.
Ethan starts to feel woozy and goes to lie down, as Charlie is watching him. Outside, Cassie asks Jake if he ever murdered a witch. His face sort of says it all and she walks away. Lucy shows up with Dawn's, ostensibly to help find the crystals. Instead, she shanks the bitch right in her own foyer. As Dawn writhes on the floor, she tells her that she has always been working for the witch hunters and they're coming back to Chance Harbor. After tonight, the Circle won't have any power to protect them. Not that there aren't cobwebs growing on the Circle's powers anyway. Then, she leaves Dawn to bleed out.
As the party is winding down, Cassie is telling the Circle about activating the medallion. Diana's in because Cassie saw her father use it successfully. Adam is the last to agree. They meet in the woods behind Briar Hill, but first Cassie takes Adam aside and tells him that he was right about Jake. He replies that he accepts who she is, but doesn't think that she is defined by black magic. He's a feminist.
Charlie steals the crystal from a passed out Ethan. He doesn't cop a feel though. Gentleman. In the woods, Lucy instructs the Circle (including Jake) to hold hands around a fire. Meanwhile, Ethan's realizing that the crystal is gone. Lucy starts to run a spell. Melissa says that she doesn't feel well. Maybe too many drugs. Faye is swooning too. Cassie says that something is wrong. Melissa thinks it feels like that time Faye did the spell at the Fire/Ice dance, which took their powers away. Lucy has her Scooby-Doo moment. The medallion channels power in or out. It's working the out angle right now. Cassie says that she saw her father use the medallion to kill the witch hunters... and NOW she remembers what he said. She says some fancy witch words and fire shoots in a path from the central fire towards Lucy who has fallen and skitters backwards. Jake says she must be working with witch hunters. You think? She says that they threatened her. Cassie just wants to know if her father is alive. He is, but no one knows where he is. Cassie tells her to never come back to Chance Harbor and to tell the witch hunters that they're ready for them. Yeah! Before they leave, Jake tries to tell Cassie that she and he are similar, but she ain't having it.
Charlie visits Dawn to threaten her or something, but instead sees her on the floor and brings her back to life with the crystal. She's as shocked as we are. Melissa meets Callum on a deserted alley. She tells him that he reminds her of Nick. And, the devil's spirit made the night easier. He gives her more and tells her that she went through the last bag pretty quickly. She needs to watch it. Seriously, she's a drug addict in one evening? I can't wait for her strung out though. She's going to kill it. Faye arrives at some place and says that she got their text. Um, it's Jake. And, they start macking. Somebody's FINALLY tapping that. This is good.
At the Boathouse, Adam opens a cupboard that is filled with cookies (wrapped in cute plastic bags). He smiles. Lucy meets with Eben, the head witch hunter from Jake's memory. He, of course, has horrible burns on his face now. He's upset about Lucy failing to take the Circle's power in that smiling but I'm going to kill you way. And, he slits her throat. See ya, Lucy.
In the basement at Briar Hill, Cassie is playing with the medallion and making the wind whip and all that. She stops and looks ahead and says, "Daddy." Doesn't look like anyone's there though. Maybe they just feel each other right now.
