In a hurry? Read the recaplet for a nutshell description! Finished? Click here to close. It's Halloween time. Jane is out of town (because a grandmother trying desperately to protect her witch granddaughter leaves her alone on Halloween) and Faye convinces Cassie to have a party. Another great idea. They invite Luke, the guy who Cassie was so horrible to at the school dance, so that's at least something positive. He's adorbs. Cassie and Faye are at some antique store and when she goes to pay with her credit card and the cashier (who looks at her oddly when he realizes who she is) touches the card, the mirror behind him cracks. Could it be the ghost of Suze Orman? She's not even dead.
Adam is pissed that Ethan told Diana stuff that made her break up with him. Cassie finds part of the witch-scratching knife that Simone used on her and shows it to Jake. She was going to talk to the owner of the antique shop about it, because she saw that he had a knife like that in his store, but Jake does some magic that makes her car not work. Then, he goes to the store and threatens the (apparently witch) owner to not say anything to Cassie about the knife. Yeah, it looks like he's getting ready to kill all of the kids in the Circle. His leader gives him backup, including LUKE. I knew it was too good to be true. He's going to the party and is going to try to kill everybody.
At the party, Faye is dressed as a sexy little red riding hood and Melissa is a sexy Hermione from Harry Potter- hiding in plain sight right there. Cassie is a sexy bumble bee. Diana is a sexy vampire. Adam tries to talk her into giving him another chance. The shopkeeper goes to Ethan and tells him that Cassie has a right to know about "John Blackwell." Sounds like that was her father's name.
Faye sees Jake at the party and tries to get him to sleep with her. They go to Cassie's room and start making out. Faye can sense that something is different about him. Outside, someone attacks Melissa and knocks her out, cause girl hasn't had a hard enough month. Meanwhile, Cassie is looking through Jake's stuff at Nick's house. She finds a knife with an interesting symbol on it... just as Jake walks in. Cassie knows it's a witch hunter knife. Faye comes in and takes her to try to find Melissa. Cassie gets a call from the shopkeeper, who tells her she's in danger. Jake interrupts him and is about to kill him when he says that Cassie has dark magic in her and he was trying to warn her. Jake kills him anyway, with this special witch-killing method. It looks painful.
The rest of the Circle get nabbed too and taken to the docks. Luke is there and we find out that he is from a legacy of witch hunters. They are all tied up and Luke is about to kill Cassie when she screams and it sets that mofo on FIRE. Like, dead fire. Luckily, no one destroys Cassie's house when she's away from the party. Jake is there with her and she tells him that she thinks she stopped Luke on her own. Meanwhile, Jane discovers that Henry, the father-in-law that Dawn killed, is dead. She gets his crystal and is chanting something over him when she gets knocked out!
Want more? The full recap starts right below! Here are Faye and Cassie walking into a store of creepy curiosities. It's Halloween time and we know that because someone is walking in a costume outside the store and there are also leaves blowing out there. Thanks, art department! The first thing that Cassie sees in the store is one of the scratchy knives like the one that Simone used to get blood from her at her house. Then, Faye, who must change really quickly, shows Cassie the tribal headdress and tribal bead halter-top/boob-barely-coverer that she thinks she might wear as a costume. Cassie says no, those are ancient artifacts, not a costume. BORING. Come on, Cassie. Be more fun. Now. Cassie says that they shouldn't draw attention to themselves and Faye says that they are in the perfect place for party decorations. Because that's the perfect segue into -- it's not a party that Cassie is having. It's a get-together. Jane is leaving for the night and she's having a get-together, not a party. She thinks it would be good for Diana and Adam, and Faye says that she must feel guilty that she tried to break them up. Actually, that's right, huh? She adds that the best way to look innocent is for her to get a boyfriend of her own. Then, she points at Luke, who is in the store. Cassie says that she spoiled her chances with him when she was such a horrible date at that dance. God, she was a horrible date. Faye drags her over anyway and invites Luke to the party (no, get-together). He's quiet but agrees to come. Then, Faye goes to change but asks Cassie to buy this weird ghost-doll thing for her as a reward for being so helpful. Cassie complies and the cashier looks at her credit card (Kids these days! It's probably just a bank card -- 31st National Trust -- but it has a "Member Since" area, which really only goes on credit cards, right?) and asks if she's Amelia's daughter. Then, when he goes to grab the card, the mirror behind him breaks!
Later, as Jane is getting ready to leave, Cassie casually asks about the shopkeep, whose name is Calvin Wilson. SUPER CASUALLY. No big deal, that mirror breaking. Calvin is a witch too. He's not doing a good job not "drawing attention" by owning a store of actual witch relics. Jane CASUALLY remarks that it could have just been a random surge caused by residual power and active power crossing. Now, I'm no witch, but that just really doesn't make sense. So, there are other witch families in town, but most of them left after the fire. Jane says she has to go to Henry's lake house -- that's the guy who Dawn killed. Cassie asks, obviously very casually, if Henry is an elder and didn't Jane want to avoid telling an elder that the Circle had been bound? I mean, don't these guys take their own predicament seriously? They are so blasé about the whole thing. She says that she's not telling him about the Circle. She just hasn't heard from him in weeks and is worried about him. Then, she confirms that her witch friends are coming over to spend Halloween alone in their house. Cassie makes it sounds lower key than even a get-together.
