We've all been waiting for a honest to goodness showdown, and it's finally here... sort of. In the process of stealing Conrad's stash of evidence, Emanda realizes it's been decidedly less Nolany around here lately. She goes to see why Nolan's not returning her calls and finds a video feed set up in Nolan's house that shows the White-Haired Man has him bound and gagged... and not in the way Nolan probably would enjoy. Emanda offers herself up in a face-to-face showdown to spare Nolan's life.
Ems meets up with WHM completely unarmed, and very sportingly, she agrees to chloroform herself before being transported to WHM's lair. She wakes up to find herself tied up alongside Nolan. Before he can torture or kill them, Ems gives WHM some false info about where he can find the stash of evidence, manages to untie herself and Nolan, and instructs Nolan where to really find the evidence so he can hand it over to Agent McGowan at the S.E.C. When WHM comes back, Ems is waiting for him with a giant steel ax. Seriously. They fight, and Emanda ultimately wins, but she suddenly remembers her father asked her when she was a child to promise she would never give up her love for all things and people. Ugh. That means no killing. Emanda lets WHM go. That's, like, the least vengeful thing you can do. That's devenge.
Daniel gets a tip from the magnificently extraneous Ashley that she spotted Emanda and Jack making out. He confronts Emanda when she returns from her anti-showdown with WHM, and she's pretty much over it all. She admits to the affair and breaks off their engagement. Bah... and they would've had such an entertaining, over-the-top wedding.
Now that Emanda's single, time to check out the dating scene. Oh, right -- that Jack guy! Emanda goes to finally come clean with Jack about who she really is and declare her love for him. Nothing could possibly derail this love that was written in the stars. Except maybe a completely untimely and contrived return of Amily who is pregnant with Jack's baby (!), and ready to resume her comfortable life as Amanda Clarke. Ems is devastated that after everything seemed to be coming up Milhouse now she can't have her life back. It's one of those things we can all empathize with -- being usurped by someone pretending to be you just when you're ready to reveal you're you.
With the crucial evidence in the S.E.C.'s hands, Victoria tries one last time to recruit Lydia to testify along with her against Conrad. Lydia finally comes around as WHM reports back to Conrad that he's not in control of the lost evidence. Conrad confronts Victoria to implore her not to incur the wrath of WHM's superiors, but she defiantly leaves to board a flight with Lydia and McGowan to Washington to write Conrad's death sentence. Well, I guess that settles that... EXCEPT WHM BLOWS UP THE PLANE! Victoria, Lydia and McGowan are presumably dead. I repeat. Victoria. Got. Blown. Up.
Charlotte happens to see the live TV news report of her mother's death and tries to reach out to Declan for comfort. The thing about that is she spent the entire day sabotaging his budding relationship with Yonkers, embarrassing her in front of their whole school library with some dirt she dug up about an affair Yonkers had with a teacher at her old school. Declan wants nothing to do with Charlotte, and tells her as much over the phone, not giving her a chance to explain why she needs him at that moment. Completely alone and weak, Charlotte overdoses on her pain pills.
Emanda has had the wind taken out of her sails entirely. She's lost Jack AND Daniel, got lame satisfaction from her confrontation with WHM and the evidence went up in flames with Victoria. But like always, Nolan comes through. He made a copy of the evidence before passing it off to McGowan. They crack it open and see what was so important to both Conrad and WHM. The first revelation? Emanda's mother is still alive. And right here is the part where Gheorghe Zamfir's "The Lonely Shepherd" should crescendo over the credits.
Want more? The full recap starts right below! You guys ready to get some revenge? Let's do this. We zoom out from an extreme close-up of Emanda's eye to her blank face. Ems voice-over: "In every life there comes a day of reckoning, a time when unsettled scores demand their retribution, and our own lies and transgressions are finally laid bare." Suddenly, Emanda begins screaming Daniel's name. He comes rushing down the stairs at Casa Emily in a panic to find Ems in hysterics and the living room disheveled. A man broke in and ran by her carrying something she couldn't see, Ems tells Dan. He notices his briefcase on the floor and checks it immediately. When he sees it's empty, he rushes straight for the front door to lock it, and asks Emanda what she can tell him about the guy. She describes the White-Haired Man to a T, saying she'll call the police. Daniel insists they handle this privately with Conrad's security team. He tells Emanda to pack up so they can go stay safely in Manhattan. Ems holds back a smile when Daniel goes upstairs. The ruse has fooled young Grayson.
Grayson Global. In Conrad's office, Daniel reports to his father the break-in. Conrad reveals this isn't the first time WHM has been in Casa Emily. He shows Dan the surveillance video that was sent to him of Ems and Daniel sleeping, explaining it was a threat he countered foolishly. It allowed WHM to get his hands on Conrad's stash of evidence, which was his only leverage against WHM and his superiors. Conrad makes a phone call to his security team to run a full sweep of Grayson Manor. He reiterates to Daniel that without the evidence he's a dead man.
Close-up on that evidence. Emanda sorts through it with latex gloves. She finds a small hard drive labeled "Americon" and plugs it into her laptop. It asks for a password. You know who's good at cracking passwords? Nolan. Say... where is that guy? Ems calls him and gets his voicemail, leaving a huffy a message for him to turn on his phone because she needs him.
Stowaway. Jack opens up the cash register at the bar, finding the $1 million check from Daniel. He stares at it thoughtfully. Don't you have a safe, buddy? Meanwhile, Ems strolls outside the Fortress of Solitude when her phone rings with a call from thoughtful Jack. She ignores the call, so he leaves her a message saying he thinks they should probably talk about last night. Probably. There's a beautiful upward angle shot here of Emanda entering Nolan's front door with a clear blue sky visible through the glass door and walls. She call out to Nolan and receives only eerie silence in response, noticing Nolan's open laptop sitting on the coffee table. On the screen is a video feed focused on a sign which reads "Call my cell or I die." Ems does as she's told, and the sign instantly falls away as WHM pulls a steel chair out from under it, answers Nolan's phone and hunches down to look into the live feed camera. Emanda tells him she's the one he wants, not Nolan. "Who are you?" WHM asks. Emanda: "Amanda Clarke. You murdered my father. You and I have unfinished business." Rather than tease Emanda for combining The Princess Bride and Kill Bill references, WHM readily accepts Emanda's challenge. "Then by all means, let's finish it. How would you like to do this?" he coolly responds. Emanda: "Face-to-face."

Grayson Manor. Conrad storms in the front door, leading in two security agents. Immediately, Victoria protests, demanding they all leave. Does she need to call the police on Conrad? "No, what you need to do is shut up and sit down," Conrad roars. Conrad roars? Where did that come from? "Thanks to a lethal combination of your vitriol and your incompetence, the evidence you stole from me is now in the hands of our most powerful adversary," Conrad adds. Security agents report they've found wire taps in the house. It's all the fuel Conrad needs to blame his wife for allowing their enemies to listen in on them for who knows how long. He hopes Victoria enjoyed whatever it is she gained from reporting him to the S.E.C. while overlooking the danger she put her family in. "Stupid, stupid woman," Conrad throws over his shoulder as he walks out. (Goodness, Henry Czerny has really brought it the second half of this season.)
Casa Emily. Daniel rummages through the bookshelf facing his and Emanda's bed from the angle the surveillance video was shot. He finds the book with the hidden camera and calls Emanda to tell her he thinks they should get to Manhattan tonight. She lies and says she's meeting with someone already to have the cottage winterized, but instead she's staring out of her car at WHM as he arrives. Daniel tells her to be careful before they hang up. How unwittingly appropriate.
WHM hops out of his unmarked brown van (creeeeeper) and walks around to the back of it. Emanda gets out of her vehicle and silently follows. When she reaches WHM, he pulls a gun on her and orders her up against the van for a pat down. WHM: "No wire, no phone, no weapon. This is a very dangerous game you're playing. And for what... payback for your father?" Emanda responds that she has evidence in her possession that implicates him and his friends at the Initiative. She demands he take her to Nolan. WHM cordially opens the back of the van and hands her a bottle of chloroform, citing the need for secrecy. He says if she refuses, Nolan dies.
Now... I may not be the smartest man in the world, but I don't think I would willingly knock myself unconscious after I just threatened an armed man with evidence that would destroy him and his employers. What's to stop him from dumping me in a harbor with cement shoes, assuming no one else knows about the evidence? But that's just me, and I am not Emanda because she pours some chloroform into a handkerchief and huffs until WHM's face goes blurry.
FLASHBACK: Little Amanda and David unpack boxes at the beach house. Amanda is distraught because she forgot to pack her mother's photo when she hears a loud noise. She walks outside to find an injured bird. /FLASHBACK.
Emanda wakes up chained against a wall to a bloodied Nolan. "Good morning, sunshine. If you came here to rescue me, you might want a do-over," he weakly quips. WHM enters the room carrying a case. He tells Emanda he'd rather she tell him where Conrad's evidence is now that way he won't have to go on a wild goose chase... or kill Nolan. He unwraps his case to reveal torture instruments. Emanda says Nolan doesn't concern her. Nolan: "Gee, don't sugarcoat it, Ems." In that case, WHM decides he'll just take a scalpel to Nolan's neck. Emanda stops him and rattles off an address where the evidence is mostly likely not located. What's to stop WHM from killing them both now? Ems says she could be lying, plus she's alerted the authorities. She'd tell him how much time he has but the chronometrophiliac stole her watch. WHM checks her watch and finds a lockpick and sees that it is now 2:30. He has one hour, Ems notes. WHM sees the inscription on the inside of the watch from Victoria to David, and taunts Emanda that her father didn't know what hit him. Emanda: "Tick tock." WHM heads over to Emanda's keys, grabs the key to the safety deposit box Emanda described and walks out. Ems watches him leave on his security video monitor, worried.

Nolan asks Batgirl AKA Emanda what the plan is. Ems uses her teeth to pull a pick from her sleeve. She frees herself for her handcuffs, then Nolan. He guffaws, "I'm not worthy." Emanda is already all business. She orders Nolan to get the evidence to Agent McGowen; she's going after WHM. Nolan insists he's not leaving her. "You are way outmatched by that crazy albino!" he scolds. Emanda responds that this will have all been for nothing if the evidence doesn't reach McGowen. Nolan owes her this. Nolan: "Kick his ass." He grabs Ems in a hug. She starts to walk off and stops. "Nolan, if I don't make it out of this, tell Jack I love him."
Collins Prep. Yonkers and Dec walk together. She's throwing out ideas for excuses since they didn't finish that damn economics (I refuse to say "econ") project. Sick grandma? Computer crash? Dec takes comfort in the fact they'll fail together. Charlotte walks up to them and cheerfully recommends they appeal to their teacher's Seasonal Affective Disorder to drum up his sympathy. The teachers are all push-overs, Charlotte adds -- probably way different than public school in Yonkers. Jaime (she has a name!) corrects Charlotte that she actually attended private school. Take that, pill head! Jaime walks off, leaving Dec alone with his ex. He thanks her incredulously for her kindness. With her fake grin still plastered on her face, she says she's happy for Dec and Jaime and walks off, leaving Dec confused and greasy.
Dan walks briskly through Grayson Global on his phone, saying he needs all passcodes changed. They're in full lockdown. Jack appears behind him and hands over the million dollar check because he'd decided he wants to live debt-free. He tells Dan to have a nice day and walks off. Ashley notices Jack and asks Daniel why he's there. When Dan explains that Jack declined $1 million, she says she wouldn't be so quick to dub Jack a saint. You don't say, unnecessary girl. Dan tries to wring out the dirt from Ashley by saying he thought he could trust her. She's about to spill.
Charlotte looks for her mother at Grayson Manor. When she sees that she's not around, she heads into the study and straight for Victoria's Rolodex. She finds the contact card for Dan Jenkins of Jenkins Investigations. She calls the number, posing as Victoria (complete with a haughty voice) and asking for an investigation of Jamie, supposedly because she's been bullying Charlotte. I learned it from watching you, mom!
At Conrad's penthouse, he cracks open a briefcase full of cash while Lydia looks on. He says safety waits at the Cayman Islands. Things are too dangerous here right now and he needs to plan his move. Lydia assumes Victoria sold them out. "Yeah, that harpy's toxic crusade has aroused the Interest of a far more dangerous adversary than our government." That Conrad guy has a way with words, doesn't he? He walks up to Lydia and pulls out a ring box, opening it to reveal a huge diamond. Conrad offers it as a promise that he'll always look out for Lydia's safety as long as they're together. All he asks for in return is reciprocation. Lydia kisses him and says yes.
McGowen heads out to his car when his phone goes off with a text. "The evidence is in your trunk," it reads anonymously. He opens his trunk and finds the evidence case, then looks around the busy street for clues of where it came from. Nolan watches from around the corner. Having seen verification that McGowen has received the package, he drops his phone and stomps it to pieces. Damn rich... always flaunting their excess.
Emanda sits somewhat nervously, waiting for WHM to return. She stares at his surveillance monitor until she sees him enter. He finds Ems sitting unbound and holding his large steel ax from his arsenal of torture devices. WHM commends her on being not unlike himself, and adds that he and the Initiative intended to frame Conrad, not David. Emanda says she's not interested in them framing her father; she's interested in how he was killed. She spins and swings the ax at WHM, barely missing. She hacks and gets the ax stuck in a fire extinguisher, giving WHM enough time to roll away. Ems runs off, and he grabs his scalpel. WHM stalks through his dark torture lab, and is surprised by a kick from Emanda. She manages to disarm him, but WHM slams her up against the wall in a chokehold. He taunts her that she must've gotten her fighting skills from her mother. That gives Emanda the adrenaline to free herself from his grasp. They exchange blows until they wrestle to the ground. Ems finds herself on top of WHM, wailing on him just enough to buy some time so she can crawl away to pick up the ax. She hits him in the face with the butt, crawls on top of him and begins to press the ax's handle against his neck. "Look at me. I want to be the last thing you see before you die."
FLASHBACK: David has taken Amanda to the beach to set the injured bird free. She rejoices at the bird emerging from a shoebox and flying away like brand new. David to his daughter: "You know what I love about you most? It's the way you love absolutely everything and absolutely everyone. You promise me that you're never gonna lose that." /FLASHBACK.
Emanda relents. WHM: "I thought you came here to honor your father." Ems: "I just did." She walks out, leaving WHM sprawled on the floor. WHAT?! But... Revenge. That was... The name of the show is... GODDAMN BIRD!

Outside a government building at night McGowen walks with Victoria. He thanks her for the evidence, saying it's encyclopedic. Victoria says she can't take the credit for relaying the evidence to him; she believes it was her son who did that. This is a big victory, but they've suffered the setback that Lydia has recanted her statement. Victoria says she can fix that. Still, McGowen believes they have enough evidence to charge for contracting murder. Victoria's confused. McGowen reveals to her that Conrad didn't just conspire to have David framed for the terrorist attack, he also contracted David's murder. Victoria's face absorbs this revelation for, like, twenty minutes. It really swishes around in the Botox.
Ems comes home late, prompting Daniel to ask where she's been. He's passive aggressively confrontational. Before Emanda can walk away, he asks the real questions. Did Jack come by yesterday? Yes. Did she kiss him? ...Yes. Dan's shaken. He asks what the whole point was these last few months if she wanted Jack all along, and accuses her of using him to try and get the Grayson name. Emanda responds she wanted him despite the Grayson name. She's not really the person he fell in love with, she says, and she's watched him become the thing he said he never wanted to be -- a Grayson. She hands over her ring. Dan's eyes well up and he says goodbye with finality before walking out.
Grayson Global. WHM pours himself a drink in Conrad's office. Speaking like a man who wasn't just granted mercy and doesn't have a face all shades of purple, he relays what he knows to Conrad. Agent McGowen has the evidence and he's planning to go to Washington tonight with Victoria -- his star witness. Lydia has also been granted immunity to testify. Conrad figures WHM isn't there to gloat since he'll be implicated, too, and WHM assures him that if he were there to kill Conrad, he'd already be dead. Emanda watches this conversation from her laptop while Conrad wonders why his future daughter-in-law would claim to have seen WHM if she really didn't. All WHM knows is that if he really wanted to keep an eye on Conrad, he could do so any number of ways without being detected. He says this as he picks up the framed photo of Emanda and Daniel with the hidden camera in it, subtly winking directly at it to let Emanda know he's aware she's watching. Vlah! He suggests that Conrad follow through on his plan to leave the country. As for him, he's already planning on heading straight for the airport.
Grayson Manor. Dan tells his mom he broke things off with Ems. Victoria is shocked and does a subpar job of hiding her being pleased by the news. She squelches Daniel's anger over it by reminding him that despite being proven right, she can't bear to see her son hurt. Furthermore, she commends him for turning over the evidence. He says he didn't, and if she has any sense she'll stop McGowen from sinking Conrad and the whole family. Victoria insists it's time for the truth to come out, revealing Conrad had David killed. Daniel: "Well maybe he had a damn good reason." Without a second's hesitation, Victoria slaps David viciously across the face. They both let the moment pass. Daniel fires back that Conrad's heinous deeds have always been in the interest of protecting the family, and Victoria is on the verge of pushing Charlotte irredeemably over the edge. Tears fill Victorias eyes, but she digs in her heels. She tells Dan that nothing and nobody will stand in her way of her chance to right this horrible wrong, not even her darling son.

Victoria phones Lydia. They're in their respective homes. The Queen informs Lydia that she's not just associating with someone accused of conspiracy, Conrad has been accused of murder. There's only a small window of opportunity now for Lydia to save herself. Lydia is not interested in any help from the "Self-Preservation Foundation." What's her plan, then? Victoria explains that once their money runs out, Conrad will probably turn on Lydia. Also: "When I'm done with him, it'll make your taxicab bounce look like a trip to Saint-Tropez." Victoria adds, "The plane leaves at 8:00," before hanging up. Conrad walks in, asking who she was talking to. Lydia instantly lies that she has to leave for Philly because her father had a heart-attack. She says she doesn't know when she'll be back. Recognition washes over Conrad's face. He says he understands completely before kissing her on the cheek. They say their goodbyes, Conrad staring after Lydia stone-faced as she walks away.
Fortress of Solitude. Nolan pops a bottle of champagne at 9 AM in bright orange slacks. Of course. Emanda thinks it might not be appropriate as she rests her beaten body on his couch. Taking stock of the reasons they have to celebrate, Nolan notes the Graysons are pretty much decimated, her father's name is about to be cleared and Emanda got to "kick the shinola out of Lurch." Emanda thanks Nolan since she didn't do it all herself. He asks what happens with Daniel now. Guess this is as good a time as any to reveal the wedding is off. So, that just leaves... Jack. Emanda plans on telling Jack everything, she says through a smile. Like... everything everything. She grabs her phone.
Jack answers the call. He was beginning to worry he'd never hear from her. They both cite having had a crazy last few days. Ems says she found Sammy's collar and asks if she can bring it by tonight. No, no, no... You tell him now, Emanda. NOW! Alas, they agree to meet up later tonight. They hang up and Nolan raises a toast to Ems' father. They drink to David Clarke.
Collins Prep Library. Jaime giggles because her and Declan's professor totally bought off on their S.A.D. story and they got an extension. A pop-up notification comes up on Dec's laptop, saying he has a new message. Suddenly all the students around them begin laughing and staring at Jaime. They open the link and it's an exposé article about Jaime who was supposedly a beauty queen at her last school and was involved in a big home-wrecking scandal with her bald, married history teacher. She's completely sideswiped by this. "The judge was supposed to bury this. I was a minor," she says to herself before grabbing her things and hurrying out of the library past laughing classmates and one who coughs out, "Slut." Declan notices Charlotte standing among the giggling teens, looking very pleased with herself. He confronts her to say that maybe it was really him who lowered his standards when he dated Charlotte. She's very much her mother's daughter, he says. He tells Charlotte never to talk to him again. Their classmates react with "Ooooo"s as he walks off. Charlie plays it off in front of her peers by uttering a flippant, "Oops," but she obviously registers the pain she's caused someone she cares about.
Casa Emily. Emanda answers her door to find Victoria. She wants to offer her condolences over the ending of the engagement. Emanda offers back the engagement gift, but Victoria insists she still wants Emanda to have it. She urges Ems to open it. The box is empty. Victoria explains that even before the engagement party, she knew their future was as empty as that box. Wow. Is it also an ice box? She wishes Ems luck with her endeavor and walks out. As bitchy as that was, Ems lets a smile slip once Victoria's gone.
And we see why she smiled as it continues on her walk up to the Stowaway to see Jack. Lovingly, she looks in the window to clandestinely watch him cleaning up. She walks in and offers Sammy's collar. "This belongs to you." Jack: "Well... actually, it belongs to Amanda." Ems is perplexed for a moment. Did Jack figure it out on his own? Then, Amily appears from the back room... pregnant. She beams that her and Jack will be having a baby together. In a daze, Emanda offers her congratulations while Jack stares back at her with a silent apology. Amily blabs on about appreciating Ems filling in for her when Sammy died. Amily is the personification of salt in a wound. Ems says she should be going and declines Jack's offer to walk her out to her car. Once outside, Ems lets the tears flow.

Dan picks up a bottle of liquor in the pool house. Ashley enters and apologizes for how things turned out with Emanda. Dan invites her to have a drink with him, thanking her for having his back. And thus begins the courtship between Dopey and Unnecessary.
In her bedroom, Charlotte looks over the article about Jaime on her laptop. Victoria knocks and enters. She tells her daughter she's heading for Washington. Charlotte obviously has something else on her mind, and she lets it loose. She asks if retribution has ever made Victoria feel good about herself. That's like asking if Wimpy likes hamburgers. Yes, if the other party deserved it, Victoria responds. If not then you forgive yourself and move on. Victoria tells her she's always a phone call away and leaves. It's about time these two consistently bond. Nothing can break that bond. Nothing.
Downstairs, Victoria goes to answer the door, thinking it'll be Lydia. She's surprised to see it's Conrad. She tries to slam the door on him, but he barges in. He knows he's exhausted all good will she has toward him, but he implores her to think of their children before she testifies. Conrad's in no place to recommend morals to her, especially now she's aware he had David murdered. Conrad's final gambit is a warning. "If you board that plane, it'll be the last thing you do." Victoria: "Then I'll see you in Hell." She walks out.
Ems stares at the infinity X infinity box in front of her fire place in a melancholy trance. She gets a phone call from Nolan. He asks if her and Jack are on their way to get married. She weakly says she didn't tell him because Amily's back and she's pregnant. Nolan: "O.M.G." He wipes away a tear, sniffles and regains his composure. "Alright, um... look, just stay right where you are, and do not do anything revenge-y until I get there." <3 Nolan. Emanda remains staring straight ahead, dead inside.
Our final montage. Florence + the Machine's "Seven Devils" begins to play. In slow-motion, Lydia and Victoria exit their vehicles and are greeted by Agent McGowen before boarding their private jet. Victoria pauses briefly at the foot of the boarding stairs and looks up, obviously remembering Conrad's final words to her. She disregards it and presses on. We see workers prepping the plane for takeoff. One removes the blocks from the landing gear and removes his beanie to reveal a shock of white hair. Cut to Conrad tossing a photo of Lydia and Victoria onto the fireplace at Grayson Manor and taking a drink. At the Stowaway, Jack rubs Amily's belly as she sleeps. He takes a deep sigh. Charlotte's hand caresses Declan on her laptop screen as it plays the video they shot on their boating date. She stops when she overhears a breaking news report on her TV that a plane leaving the Hamptons has crashed. Charlotte jumps out of bed and slowly sidles toward the TV in disbelief as the correspondent reports: "The government chartered twin-engine jet exploded shortly after takeoff at approximately 8:15 this evening. Onboard were two witnesses bound for an unspecified hearing in Washington D.C. We now have confirmation from the passenger manifest that one of the witnesses on that flight was Victoria Grayson, the matriarch of the embattled billionaire Grayson family." Charlotte involuntarily lurches like she's going to throw up and slaps her hand to her mouth. Declan's phone rings with a call from her. He ignores it. Charlotte leaves a voicemail in hysterics. Declan answers her call without letting her say a word just to tell her never to call back again. The TV news broadcast continues, and Emanda watches from her couch in shock. Pills fall to the floor as Charlotte's lifeless body collapses on her bed. A drunken Conrad casually opens her bedroom door and has a delayed reaction to the scene. He rushes to his daughter's side and tries to shake her conscious, then gives up and clutches her to his chest.
Emanda is rocking back and forth with her head in her hands when Nolan walks in. Everything went up in flames on that plane, Emanda says -- namely, the evidence that would've cleared her father's name. "Not exactly," Nolan says. He decrypted that mysterious hard drive and backed it up before passing it along to McGowen. He pulls out his laptop and brings up an old video of the Graysons meeting with WHM. Nolan: "After the Graysons framed your father, Americon Initiative handled the cover-up. This goes so far past the Graysons and so far past what they did to your father." Nolan presses play. Victoria tells WHM their plan will work because David trusts her and she knows his deepest secret. She begins talking about his wife. Emanda presses pause and asks if they're saying they killed her mother, too. "No," says Nolan. "They're saying she's still alive." Emanda lets this reality sink in for a moment. She turns back to the screen. "Let it play."
