Wow, all of the bitchy guys give it up for Anthony and his good run. Bye, Anthony. Heidi tells them that they will be designing for a difficult celebrity. Joan Rivers is my first thought. It's, um, Heidi. Wow. I want to shoot this show. It's a red carpet look and Heidi tells them that it needs to be "more simple." It will be for her once she is no longer with child. They have a dossier that serves as an example of what she wears. Jonathan and Mila are confused. Maya decides to leave the competition. She says she's "not ready to go all the way." Wow. I don't know what to say. She says she's not fully developed. Huh? I. Don't know what to think. I guess I'm impressed. But, really I'm just confused. Bye, boring Maya. Everyone is confused, just like moi. I just wrote "moi." Seth Aaron tells us to fuck off if we're wondering about Maya, because it's really hard to design. Anthony is brought back! Everyone seems happy for him to be back. Jonathan does his usual cut-out crazy textile. Seth Aaron's model gets a Donna Karan job and leaves the competition. That means my Irish monster Cerri is back in! Heidi looks around the workroom. She is hormonal yet accurate. There's death music when Mila shows her design. Heidi hates Jonathan's fabric. The models are shocked, SHOCKED, by the departure of Maya. Jonathan tries to start over in a really terrifying way. Everybody makes an effort to show something new to the judges. This is so miserable. We see a lot of the designers at the bluefly.com wall. It frightens me. The guest judge is Jessica Alba. She looks like an alien. All of the dresses, save maybe Mila's, look pretty good. I'm sorry, but I think Jessica Alba is completely irrelevant. The judges really love Anthony's dress! Jonathan gets grief for rushing his look -- it was his third dress for the challenge. Emilio wins the challenge. Anthony wins too! Jessica says that she would like to wear his dress. Jonathan is out, which makes me hate this season irrevocably.
Previously: The designers got to design their own textiles. Emilio won the challenge and Maya came in second, which really bothered her. Anthony, having created yet another basic cocktail dress silhouette, was out. Jonathan didn't choose my girl Cerri for his model and she was ultimately out of the competition.
It's morning at the Atlas building and Seth Aaron and Jay are having coffee. They remark that it's quieter without Anthony around. Seth Aaron says that, without Anthony, they will missing "a lot of chatter, a lot of singing, a lot of jacked-up bullshit." Hmm. Then, because perhaps he realized that, despite stupid competitive reality show rules dictating that you always spit on the carcass of the recently departed, it's just plain rude and worthless to talk shit about Anthony, Seth Aaron adds that all of those things that they will be missing mean that they will be missing "a lot of fun." Nice cover. Emilio finds a way to do both, condescendingly noting in an interview that Anthony had "an amazing run." He says that people had written him off and he showed more than people thought he could. All that's true, but there's still an undertone of "he never stood a chance against me."
Jay says that, with only six designers remaining, the competition is getting intense. In the girls' apartment, Maya tells Mila that her toast is ready. Mila remembers that the judges were kind of brutal to everyone in the last challenge, so she's feeling very nervous. But, she notes that her age and experience have taught her that she just needs to brush herself off and move on. That and ONLY THAT is what I'm really looking forward to perhaps feeling one day with advancing age. So far, my age and experience have taught me to respond to anxiety with the fetal position and gin. Maya interviews that she's proud to be the youngest person in the competition, but she's starting to feel insecure about her lack of experience. She adds that she guesses she hasn't seen anything yet, which, OK, I guess.
At the runway, Heidi greets the designers. She says that it's getting harder and harder for the judges to decide who will go home each week. More than ever, it's important that their designs set them apart from the other designers. For this challenge, she tells them that they will be designing for a celebrity. This celebrity has a reputation for being opinionated and knowing what "they" want. Seth Aaron lets out a little groan. She adds that she's glad that she's not in the designers' shoes. Tim will be giving them the details in the workroom. And, she's off. Seth Aaron interviews that he would be "making shit up" if he said he wasn't nervous. Jay says that they are all excited.
In the workroom, Tim greets the designers and tells them that they will be designing a red carpet look for a celebrity. Shall we play guess the celebrity slash wish list? I'd guess like Kim Delaney or somebody who was on a Lifetime show. I don't know if she's difficult, but that's probs all bullshit anyway. My wish list would include Gabourey Sidibe (seriously, they'd all cry) or, I don't know, Dame Edna. It's time to meet the celebrity. Death music plays as the workroom door slowly opens to reveal... Heidi Klum Seal. Wasn't she just here in the last paragraph? Yeah, I know, I'll wait while you pick you fucking jaw off the floor. COME ON. We've already had a challenge about Heidi this season! She greets them (again) and Seth Aaron reminds her that she said the celebrity was opinionated and picky. Heidi, who has made her way to Tim's side, says that she is very opinionated and very picky, but she added like fourteen very's. Seth Aaron says that they love those qualities in her, which I think would certainly qualify as him "making shit up," no? Heidi tells the designers that she wants them to make a look for her, but they should keep their personality as designers. The requirements for that last part seem more and more arbitrary with each successive challenge.
Heidi tells the designers that a red carpet look needs to be simple, because it has to work from all angles for photographers. I guess that is an attempt to make this challenge seem different from the challenge where they were designing something that she would be wearing on the cover of a magazine. Also, she will no longer be pregnant, so Heidi tells them to think about her "without zee bump!" They will be provided with a dossier of looks that she has worn in the past, to be a sort of guide. She says that she wants to be on the best-dressed list and not... on the worst-dressed list. With that, Heidi leaves us again.
Tim tells the designers that they will have 30 minutes to sketch, then it's off to Mood. They will each have a budget of 300 bucks, which makes everyone surprised and happy. They get started working and Seth Aaron interviews that a challenge like this is a big deal. It's one that you want to win. Like that challenge when you had to design for Heidi.
Maya steps away from the workroom and her dress form is lonely. Jonathan laughs about the fact that he was super confident about his outfit for the last challenge but ended up in the bottom two. He says that he feels like he's in "reverse world" and doesn't know how to please the judges except to make something that he thinks is really ugly. Usually that would sound defensive to me, but he seems truly perplexed. Mila is worried, because she doesn't make a lot of red carpet dresses. However, Heidi is looking for something elegant and simple, and Mila feels like she can do that well. Emphasis on the simple.
Here's our second shot of Maya's dress form. Jay says he wants to work in his sweet spot, which he feels is volume and texture. He believes it needs to have special details that can be captured easily by cameras. Sounds like he's twisting the idea of red carpet to fit his own aesthetic instead of abiding by Heidi's mandate of simple. Emilio also thinks that it has to be dramatic and eye-catching. Oh God, there's Maya's dress form again. So, it looks like Maya died.
Tim saved her. He enters the workroom with Maya. He asks for everyone's attention -- Maya has an announcement. She tells everyone that she has decided to withdraw from the competition. Jay's hands fly to cover his mouth. Seth Aaron makes a face like, "Are you fucking crazy?" Then, he interviews, saying, "Are you fucking crazy?" Maya says that she feels like she's not "ready to go all the way yet." Jonathan interviews that they are all dumbfounded. Emilio implores her to reconsider, since she has made it so far. Jonathan points out that she has made it to the final six and is very talented. He thinks she could make it to Bryant Park. She says that she has done a lot but isn't ready to "get to that point yet." She interviews that she feels like she has what it takes in regards to style and ideas, but she doesn't feel like she's fully formed as a designer yet. We see Nina and Roland Mouret tell Maya that she's too referential and it could spell doom for her career. We see a bit of her talk with Tim where she tells him that she doesn't feel like her point-of-view is completely developed and she doesn't want to put a collection into the world until she's ready. Also, she's having a problem performing on command. Tim asks her if she would consider sticking around for at least one more challenge (seriously, if she's freaking out this much, she would have probably imploded for this challenge), but she says that she thinks it's her time.
Back in the workroom, we see Maya tell all of the designers that she has enjoyed being with them and they have all inspired her. Tim says that they will miss her desperately. She goes to hug Mila first, who seems really confused and upset. She interviews that she thought Maya wanted very much to go to Bryant Park. Jonathan interviews that none of them really understand why she wanted to leave. Jay thinks it has a lot to do with her age. Emilio thinks her excuses for exiting are a cop out. He thinks she should design the hell out of something and at least go out with a bang. He says that quitters never win. Tell that to my lungs. Maya interviews that she knows her limits and has made her decision -- she feels it is time for her to go.
That was weird. I'm sure that Maya put a lot of thought into her decision, but it seems kind of misguided. First of all, I understand that Bryant Park is a massive marketplace, but... you're on national television. The DVD's of this season will be out before long. I'm not sure that your efforts to control how you are perceived wouldn't have been better channeled towards trying to be bold and fearless. Because, a very large group of people already have a perception of you without seeing a collection of yours at Bryant Park and now, for many, that will include the impression that you are a baby quitter. Also, and I think Emilio, though hyperbolic, may have been reacting quite correctly to this, it smacks of entitlement issues when someone seemingly blithely (and I already said I'm sure she put a lot of thought into the decision, but it still seems kinda blithe) tosses an opportunity like this. They don't grow on trees. Tons of designers auditioned for this show and didn't make it on. Even with the boost of the show, not many (save maybe Christian Siriano) of the designers who were actually on the show have maintained a level of success that keeps them in the public eye. Which brings us to my last point. Being in the public eye may not seem like the biggest deal when considering their work and point-of-view and we get all artsy fartsy talking about these designs a lot of the time, but they are creating consumables. They don't have relevance unless someone is buying and wearing them. From all I hear, fashion is a rough freaking business. Ultimately, I think Maya has made a mistake.
With Maya gone, all of the designers are sitting around stunned. All of them say that they didn't expect this. Seth Aaron wonders if she just had a moment of freak-out where she imagined making it to Bryant Park but couldn't imagine what she would present. Mila thinks that he might have hit the nail on the head. He also hands me my ass. He interviews that they work like 20 hours a day, seven days a week. They're always drained. So, for those of me who are judging them, I can fuck off. I should go there and try it if I want to judge. Well said. But, that's actually what I'm here for, to judge.
Tim re-enters and says that he is as shocked as all of the designers. But, the challenge is still on and it's time to go to Mood. Once there, before he starts his stopwatch, Tim tells the designers to not disappoint Heidi. Emilio searches for fabrics that will photograph well. Jonathan tells us that he's looking for a bright colors. Mila has decided to step away from her typical high-contrast colors and will instead use gunmetal grey with gold. We see her tell herself to commit to a color. Seth Aaron notes that a lot of people are using colors that represents their style as designers, but the dossier of Heidi's past look shows a lot of black. Which, I guess, is lucky for him since most of his stuff is black.
Back at the workroom, Seth Aaron points out that there are only five designers left. He says that anyone could go home , including himself, "Not!" That was almost reflexive. He couldn't stop himself from disagreeing with himself for saying he could potentially be eliminated. That's so deep confidence. We should all have an inner "Not!" that screams out when we doubt ourselves. We see Emilio remind himself to simplify.
Tim enters and says that they are bringing a designer back, to take Maya's place. Emilio seems annoyed. It's Anthony! "Here she is, boys!" he exclaims. He laughs and laughs. He interviews that he has a second chance at greatness. He says further, "Who wants Anthony back? Hell, everybody should. I like him, you should too." I wish political campaigning were that cut and dry. He says, as he is sitting at his workspace, "Chocolate puddin' glad to be back." Heh. Jonathan says that he's happy to have Anthony back. He thinks that he's a breath of fresh air in the workroom. Anthony will begin to sketch now and will have his work time extended to make up for the time he'll lose when he goes to Mood.
Anthony interviews that he could be the "Ambassador for Second Chances." He'll have to fight out Charlie Sheen and Kirstie Alley, won't he? Anthony says that, this time in the competition, his goal is to impress himself instead of the judges. Tim comes in to send Anthony to Mood, though he won't be going with him. He replies that Mood won't be the same without Tim saying, "Anthony, don't pick that!"
As we see Jay ripping up some fabric, he interviews that he needs to have a winning mind in order to make it to the end of the competition. In the sewing room, Jonathan says that he can't believe that they only have a day for a challenge that involves Heidi. He interviews that he's doing his cut-away technique. Emilio has to create an undergarment for his dress, because the main material is see-through. Mila is worried that her dress won't be interesting enough. Seth Aaron wants to create a sleek silhouette.
Tim re-enters saying that today has been a busy day for him. He asks Seth Aaron to go outside with him. More drama! Mila interviews that the events of the day have really thrown her off her game. Seth Aaron and says that his model received a job offer from Donna Karan and has left the competition. Donna Karan, you have crossed me for the last time. I have nothing against Donna Karan. I was only joking. Seth Aaron is going to be working with my girl Cerri, who Jonathan rudely discarded after the last challenge. He says that Cerri's not the same shape as his girl, but he'll make do. Seriously, they're all acting like Cerri is lady Shrek or something. He's already far into his design, so he's not sure what's going to happen. [On Models of the Runway (which I can't stop watching, even though I don't like it), Seth's model decided to stick with him until the end regardless of the job, but then they revealed this week that Donna Karan offered her twice as much cash and she couldn't turn it down. Seth told her to take the money and run. -- Angel]
Anthony returns from Mood and they are all busy bees. He interviews that he's feeling pressure, but he's trying to not let it consume him. Well, good luck, here comes Tim and Heidi. She welcomes "Miss Thang" back to the competition and he gives her a sassy finger point back. Heidi is there to look at their progress, to which Anthony interviews, "What the hell?" Seth Aaron notes that Heidi has never been in the workroom before while they were working. Jonathan says that they are all very nervous to talk to her.
She starts with Seth Aaron as we hear Emilio interview that Heidi never shies away from sharing her opinion. Such boldness often accompanies a producer credit. Seth Aaron explains that he's trying to take a new approach to black and is having to re-fit his dress for a new girl. Heidi says that she likes black and simple, but the dress will need some sort of "show stopper." Perhaps an oil slick or a smoke screen? Anthony is making a black and white number. He says that it is designed to move, not to hug. Heidi says that she likes black and white and Tim encourages Anthony, saying that his design has the potential to be very exciting. Emilio explains the construction of his dress, which Heidi notes will be very difficult. And, she sees that as a good thing. Tim just nods and agrees. Jay explains his design, which has a lot of volume. They suggest that he make sure that the dress doesn't make Heidi look like she's got a big butt. Jay interviews that it's good that she's critiquing him, since she will be wearing the dress at the end of the day. Heidi doesn't understand the neckline of Jay's piece. There's a weird space between the boobs and Jay says that is the space that would be between her bra. She tells him that there isn't any space like that (Jay's bodice looks kind of like two shells covering the boobs), then shows him her bra for proof. Tim remarks that Jay and Heidi are having a very interesting experience with each other at that moment. Yes, Tim. Mila nervously describes her piece for Heidi then asks if it's too simple. Heidi says it isn't too simple, but is it better than the other dresses? Subjective, much?
Now, they move on to Jonathan. He's using coral, which wasn't in her dossier, but he thought it would look good on her. Tim compliments Jonathan's palette. Heidi likes the colors too. But, she thinks that the cut-away textile that he created looks like curtains. She suggests, explicitly, that he just drape the dress and get rid of his textile. Tim adds that, if Jonathan can make this happen, he'll be driving home to the judges how versatile he is. WARNING! This is a trap! Stick with what you made. Heidi's just being stupid. After a couple of attempts trying to open the door, Heidi leaves the workroom with Tim behind her.
Jonathan mocks Heidi's voice and how she wants all the drape-y stuff. Also, the dress she suggested would take a week to make. The models come in for a fitting. Seth Aaron graciously tells Cerri that he's excited to be working for her. Monique, who was Maya's model, is thrilled to see Monique. The girls are all shocked that Maya quit.
With the girls gone, the designers work like mad to finish. Jonathan compares the atmosphere to a pressure cooker. Jay seems to possibly be losing his mind. He screams something unintelligible while at his sewing machine. He interviews that Heidi is worried that he is going to make her butt look big. If giving birth to 12 children is going to make your butt look big, don't worry about Jay. He says he hasn't figured out whether to change his design or go with his original intention.
So, Jonathan decided to make a new dress for Heidi. It's all drape-y and he thinks it's disgusting. So, SO, he makes a new dress. A third dress. This is a huge mistake. You really are in reverse world, Jonathan. Get out of reverse world! Poor Anthony, with his extended work hours, only got an hour of sleep.
The morning, Mila stares out the window of the apartment that she has all to herself. She interviews that Heidi's critique has made her really nervous. Jonathan notes that a day is probably not enough time to pull out a red carpet look. He's comforted by the fact that all of the designers are in the same horrible sinking boat. Anthony asks his god to be with him today, via chalkboard.
At the workroom, everyone seems too tired to be particularly manic. Anthony says that he would like to take that time to send out a special message to Maya: "Thank Youuu!" Seth Aaron is working slower, but he says that he's kind of a spaz; so him at half-speed is still faster than everyone else. Anthony is feeling rushed -- he's having to redesign the front of his dress, because the fabric is doing something funny. He says that life is very interesting right now. That Anthony, he sure knows how to make shit into sunshine. Jay wants to pull off the complicated stuff in his designs so that he can show the judges what he's capable of. Jonathan mumbles that you can't worry about the judges -- you just have to try to make something nice. Mila says that the hem on Jonathan's dress is funky and the draping doesn't look great. That's not good. Mila sounded genuinely sad that Jonathan's design was such a mess. However, she adds that there is some relief in seeing other designers with crappy dresses, for it increases the possibility that someone's look will tank worse than hers. Sad but true. Emilio still needs to make the zipper on his dress, which he says is tricky.
Tim enters and asks everyone how they're doing. Emilio says they are "stressed" for time. Anthony tells Tim that he got home at 2:35 and was up at 5. What was he doing for an hour and a half instead of sleeping? I'd have swan dived into my bed. Tim asks him if he's going to be able to finish, then insists that he has to finish. Tim tells them to work like there's no tomorrow, because for one unlucky SOB, there won't be.
Tim sends in the models and it's hair and make-up and mayhem. Emilio thinks that Seth Aaron's look is neither Heidi nor red carpet. Mila feels confident about her dress. Jonathan thinks that her dress fits poorly. And, it's runway time. Jonathan says that his work for this challenge is different, so perhaps the judges will like it for once.
Heidi greets the designers on the runway. She says that one day you're in and the you're out, then laughs that maybe you're in again the following day. She introduces Michael, Nina and a surprise guest judge. It's "internationally known actress and style icon" Jessica Alba. Hey guys, Jessica Alba is a style icon. Did you know that? Tuck that information away for safekeeping. Jessica Alba, not content to sit beside Nina, enters from backstage. She's really gawky and earnest and as she says that she's happy to be on the show. OK, I think she's completely talentless (with the exception of being able to wipe the screen with Ashton Kutcher in Valentine's Day, but low-hanging fruit and all that), but she's goddamn pretty, that Jessica Alba.
The first dress out is Jay's. It's a short dress of grey. It's strapless, with that seashell thing I mentioned from before. The skirt is interesting. There are all of these vertical gill-shaped pleat things. They create a lot of volume in the hip/ass region. So, Jay did not listen to what Heidi was saying. I understand he just thinks this is a cool silhouette, but does he want to stay on the show? They're gonna hate this! Jay says that he can't help it, he likes to exaggerate booties. He cannot lie, he likes big butts.
Mila's dress is . What a yawner. It's a low-cut dress that ends at the knee. It's gunmetal grey with gold vertical striping. There's some geometrical graphic stuff on the hip. It's kind of loose, which perhaps is why it's so boring. Mila says that she's likes the dress but wishes it were better constructed.
Here's Anthony's dress. It's really pretty. It's a half black and half white wrap dress that is floor-length and draped in a sort of Grecian way. There's a black belt at the waist. The shoulder straps are fairly wide and frame the bosom like a dream. Also, it moves beautifully and there's a sexy yet restrained slit to the knee. The fabric meets in a diagonal along the back of the dress. Anthony is thrilled. He thinks his girl looks expensive and refreshing.
Seth Aaron's dress is . It's a floor-length black dress with two overlapping straps on each shoulder. The bodice has a corset look to it, with it's body-hugging nature and pleating and details. The skirt of the dress is loose and flowing. There's a bustle effect in the back of the dress that makes the skirt glide. I think this is pretty. Seth Aaron likes it too.
Here's Jonathan's dress. It's a short halter dress with a bare back. Pale grey, black and coral fabric is used to make the dress. The front is kind of FUBAR. There's a ton of fabric and none of it moves. It looks like Brandise just has static cling and some fabric stuck to her body as she was walking through the hall. Jonathan is aware of the troubles with the front of the dress, but thinks he notices the judges appreciating the detail on the back. Oh, Jonathan, I'm so sorry that it had to go down like this.
Here's Emilio's dress. It's a fitted floor-length strapless gown. The color is a sort of gold/brown and it shimmers. There's a bow thing on one corner that looks like a strap but isn't. It fits like a glove. Therefore, it's beautiful. But, I'm kinda thinking, is that all there is? Emilio thinks it looks expensive.
Afterwards, Heidi asks Seth Aaron about his gown. He says that he thinks it will flatter Heidi, but he was trying to stay true to himself. Nina thinks that he worries too much about showing himself. He should have thought more about making Heidi look good. Michael thinks that she looks more like Miss Golden Globe than a Golden Globe winner. Seth Aaron says that he likes it. Jessica thinks it doesn't look like something Heidi would wear. Heidi thinks that there has to be a "wow" thing and his dress doesn't have it.
Anthony says that he thinks his dress represents him. Heidi loves it, which sends Anthony for a loop. She thinks it's sexy without being over the top. Jessica thinks it's elegant. Michael loves it. So does Nina! She thinks he understands the glamour of the red carpet. She says that Heidi would look good in it, as well as would Jessica, who appreciates the duality of the dress. You could take different kinds of pictures in it!
Mila says that she wanted to make something sleek and sexy. Also, she wanted to make something begging to be accented by jewelry, which she knows that Heidi loves. I'm not playing dumb here, do we know that? Jessica says that she wears dresses like this all of the time, but she thinks the bust is too wide. Michael hates that too. He thinks the boobies look weird. Heidi thinks it's too simple.
Emilio says he was inspired by his fabric. Michael, drawing this out like he's casting a spell, says that the dress is impeccable. He also loves the styling of his model's hair. Heidi thinks it's simple but sexy. Nina says that the fabric could have looked cheap, though it doesn't. Jessica loves the fit. She commends him for spending so much effort on the construction of the undergarment.
Jay explains his intention with volume and detail. Heidi appreciates the work he did, but doesn't like the fatty fatty hip/butt. Michael says that there isn't a woman on the planet who would want for people to think that they have a fat butt. Could you have a fat butt though and wear this dress and be like, "Yeah, it's a little weird on my butt."? Could you do that? Would there be a value add to doing that? To your life? Value? I don't know. These absolutes of Michael Kors though. How does he know? There's always a girl on Celebrity Fit Club who says she doesn't want to lose her butt. Nina points out that the horizontal pleating on the bodice does his models no favors either. Jessica acknowledges that her hips are wider after childbirth, but she still wants to disguise it. Man, can we all take a moment to feel really bad for Jessica Alba? Her hips... so sad. It could happen to anyone really. Be safe out there, everyone.
Jonathan says that he wanted to make something fun. Michael thinks it's maybe too short. Jessica agrees -- one big step and we might be seeing a butt cheek. Michael thinks that the back of the dress looks effortless while the front looks chaotic. He explains that this was his third dress. They're all stunned. Nina thinks that the color palette makes the girl look waxy. Hmm, Tim liked the color palette. I think a reel of Tim/judge contradictions is begging to be compiled, pronto. Anyway, Nina says that the colors won't photograph well.
The designers leave the stage while the judges confer. They start with Seth Aaron. Heidi thinks it was boring. Nina thought it looked funereal. Jessica says that Heidi has an insane body and everyone should see that. I think that she just embarrassed everyone. Heidi explains the Anthony/Maya situation. Jessica says that this is a tough show, but nothing like the real world. I say this as a person who can veer perilously close to cynical, nay bitter, at times when it comes to this sort of thing/person. I'd really like to know what working in studio films since she was a child, but not required to be good at all, what the fuck Jessica Alba knows about the real life for fashion designers or even fucking actors for that matter. I get a little annoyed when people fling around the "real world" talk unless it includes discussion of the best model of hot tub, but this is most egregious. Michael thinks that the dress was gorgeous. Nina loved it. Jessica loved it too and wants to borrow it.
Heidi doesn't know what went wrong with Jonathan's dress. I'll tell you what went wrong! You opened your stupid mouth before he was finished and insulted his textile and that's what happened. You may not have liked what he was going to do, but I doubt he'd be in this situation if he'd made the first dress he was making. Of course, that's his fault, but you can't blame him completely. He's a smart guy who wants to make it to Bryant Park. He's thinking, "OK, it seems that you are not liking what my instincts produce, so why don't I try to create what you're asking for?" And, here we are. Michael thinks that the dress looks really bad. They all hated the color. Heidi thinks it looked amateurish.
Michael thinks that the skirt of Jay's dress should have been bigger, so that it would look intentional. Nobody wants a big butt.
They love that Emilio put the structure in his dress. Nina loved how he worked the fabric. Heidi loves glitter, but needs it to be the right kind of glitter. Which Emilio's fabric was.
Nina thinks that Mila's dress was something the Real Housewives of New Jersey (take that, Bravo!) would wear. Michael thinks that the cut was very unflattering. Jessica also found it more cocktail party than red carpet. Heidi admires Mila's skills but wonders if they want to see more from her.
The decision is made. The designers return to the stage. There's not a winner for this challenge. There are two!! First, it's Emilio. Heidi can't wait to wear it. Jessica announces the second winner. It's Anthony! She asks if she can wear the dress. He's thrilled. The two winners leave the stage. Emilio says that this is where he wanted to be. Anthony, of course, is stunned. He can't believe that upon coming back he would win a challenge and have Jessica Alba wear his dress. Seth Aaron is in. Mila is in. Wha? That's effed.
Heidi tells Jay that his dress was not flattering. She tells Jonathan that the front of his dress was a mess. Jay is... in. BOO. boo. Seriously. I'm so upset with this season now. Not even because Jonathan and Amy were my favorite personalities (well, plus Anthony). They were also the ones who made the most exciting clothes, in my opinion. Without getting nasty about the other designers, I think that Jonathan was mature and thoughtful and intelligent in his design (heh, intelligent design). He interviews that he's not surprised to be eliminated. He doesn't believe that he could compete with a gown he made in two hours.
Backstage, he gets hugs from everyone. He interviews that he's very proud of how far he made it in the competition. Tim leads him away and he says that he didn't kick as much ass as he wanted, but he's going to hold his head high. Jonathan, I, uh, think we should be friends.
