Last week was a ridiculous product-placement challenge that tied in to a Bonnie and Clyde movie. But wait until you see what they have on tap tonight!
Alyssa welcomes the designers to the runway so she can announce this week's client. I'm going to skip the ridiculous build-up and just tell you: it's Marge Simpson. I'm not sure if this is dumber or less dumb than the Miss Piggy challenge. Piggy wears actual clothes, but at least Marge is human-shaped and has legs. I'm calling it a draw. So this is just tied with the dumbest challenge in Project Runway history. Marge appears on a monitor and explains the specifics: she needs a dress for a dinner date with Homer. It can't be green, and it has to be...ugh. It has to be easy to remove so that Homer can have sex with her while he's drunk. I will admit that this is a good line: "Also, please remember to make use of the accessories on the Whosever Sponsoring the Wall Now Wall." Alyssa takes over and says that the winning design will be animated and appear in a future episode.
The workroom. Everyone gets a framed picture of Marge doing a "Go for it!" kind of gesture. They have a Pantone swatch telling them what color of blue and yellow her hair and skin are. Elena is doing a red dress, allegedly because she's inspired by Bart's shirt. Irina is avoiding red because she thinks it's too obvious.
Mood. Christopher decides he needs to do a floral strapless dress, not realizing that animators don't want to deal with a print. Korto is planning to show off Marge's cleavage, because that seems appropriate for the character, right?
Back to the workroom. Everyone gets Simpson-themed basketball shoes, which they are supposed to pretend are gifts from Marge herself. Then they get back to work. Irina is using organza and chiffon, which is all you really need to know about her plan. Seth Aaron is doing a bunch of different colors. Viktor makes everyone imitate Marge's voice. Christopher wants to do a Doris Day thing, but he doesn't want to put a plunging neckline on Marge because she's just a housewife. He tries chatting with Viktor, but Viktor is still in a snit about last week. I don't even remember what happened, and I refuse to check.
Korto reemphasizes that her dress is going to be very fancy because that's what she'd want if she was getting a designer to make something just for her. Viktor goes on about how he was in the bottom last week, and he gets no sympathy.

Zanna's here. She starts with Jeffrey, who is using fabric that wasn't exactly what he was looking for. She warns him not to go too futuristic, because it's just for "date night at a restaurant." She warns Elena not to use too many colors, because Marge already has a lot going on. Korto's plan relies on Marge's "money-maker." Christopher has two dresses, which is at least one too many. Zanna rejects one of them on the grounds that she's seen it way too often. Irina has a plan for the way her dress moves while the model walks, and I worry that it will not come through when it's on the show. The Simpsons doesn't normally go in for really detailed animation. Seth Aaron is on his second dress, and Zanna warns him that it's more "red carpet" than "date night." And Marge is a forty-year-old woman, so maybe the polka dots don't work. Zanna claims again that it's an important challenge, and she leaves.
Viktor goes into the sewing room to apologize to Christopher for being distant. He says that being in the bottom has made him stress out and he needs to focus on his dress. They shake hands, and the drama is over.
The models are here. Seth Aaron is starting on his third dress, so he can't even begin to fit his model. Jeffrey is very happy with the way his dress goes on his model, although I think he should be concerned about the way it looks. Nobody seems really thrilled with their look. The models leave.
Viktor thinks Seth Aaron's problem is that he's designing for a cartoon, not a person. The day is almost over, and Korto is confident because she only has to finish one sleeve. There's a montage of people driving some product-placement water, and another slide show establishes that Seth Aaron is now on his fifth dress. And he hates it, so he might start over tomorrow. He knows he's doomed, but he's in a pretty good mood about it.
The day, it's more of the usual. Everyone's doing their finishing touches except Seth Aaron, who's cutting fabric for his seventh dress. He's got two hours to make a whole dress. He's optimistic about this, which means he is crazy. Irina notes that Jeffrey's dress looks awful and is covered in unfinished edges. She speculates that maybe he's just not good at dresses.
I was worried that the models would have to be painted yellow and be given giant blue hair, but that's not happening. It's going to screw up the color palette, but that's too bad. Irina's dress looks like a waterfall of chiffon, falling from the breasts. All the way to the knees. Jeffrey calls it a "humongous nightie" and he's not wrong. Time for runway!

Alyssa recaps the challenge and introduces the judges. Georgina isn't here, and she's replaced by last year's All-Stars winner Anthony Ryan. He has a piece of black tape on his head, representing a mohawk. Isaac Mizrahi is described as "a devoted fan of The Simpsons<." Abigail Breslin is , and she looks older than I remember. Apparently time has passed. And there's Stacey Bendet. Alyssa says that this will be Marge's first new outfit in many years, and I guess she's right. Even that Chanel suit she got at the outlet mall was seventeen years ago.
Korto's dress is a standard black dress with some texture. It's fine. Christopher has way too much pattern. Jeffrey's dress looks boring and awful. The pink lapels are sloppy. Irina's dress is shaped like a cupcake, but when the model walks, the fabric kind of turns into a cape, leaving a very short dress in front. Viktor's dress looks good to me. It's got a tiny slit on the side and has a lot of glitter. Seth Aaron's magenta gown looks like he draped a bunch of fabric at the last minute and threw a belt around it. Because that is what he did. Elena's dress is kind of the same silhouette as what Marge is already wearing, although she added a blazer.
Alyssa announces that Viktor is safe. Everyone else is in the top or bottom. Irina goes first, and Isaac likes her dress with and without the belt. Abigail claims to be obsessed with it, although Stacey thinks it might be too fancy for the challenge. Alyssa calls out Seth Aaron for putting out a dress they've all seen before. Anthony Ryan thinks it looks lazy. Abigail likes it, and she's going to have to be a lot meaner if she wants to be the Kelly Osbourne. Stacey thinks Korto's dress doesn't "read Marge," but Isaac loves it. Alyssa loves the weird curved hem. Jeffrey talks a lot of nonsense and nobody buys it. Isaac hates everything, starting with the fabric. Stacey has problems with the shoes. Christopher points out that he kept Marge's strapless and knee-length dress, but the judges compare his print to a sarong. Elena looks exactly like a shorter version of her model. They even have the same hair! Isaac loves her jacket, but he objects to covering up the dress. Abigail doesn't love the jacket, but she admits that it would work for Marge. Alyssa says Elena makes her excited to come here. That's pretty good.
In the back room, we see a tiny bit of everyone decompressing. Christopher says he had a problem with visualizing his dress in a cartoon, and I expect there was a lot of that complaint that we don't get to see.

The judge deliberation largely consists of everyone repeating the comments they said already. Isaac claims that Marge is "a colorful, fun kind of forty-year-old," and I'm not sure that's right. She's not colorful; she's repressed. Isaac decides that Jeffrey is "tortured by the banal." As long as he's tortured by something. Isaac strongly objects to Seth Aaron's defense of his boring dress being "She's just a forty-year-old housewife."
The designers come out for the results. This requires yet another recap by Alyssa. Then some commercials. Then the same recap. Korto is safe, leaving Irina and Elena in contention for the top. They have very similar names, and I'm always afraid I'm mixing them up. The winner is Irina, so Elena's safe. The three boys are left. Christopher is safe. Jeffrey should go home for being in the bottom so very often, but Seth Aaron barely designed a dress. Jeffrey's going home, and he accepts this. You can't be in the bottom that often. Seth Aaron's more broken up than he is. Jeffrey's points out that being in the bottom of the All-Stars is still pretty good company.
We see a clip of Marge in Irina's dress. It looks okay. It's basically what she put out on the runway.
