Aborting his trip to New Orleans, Mohinder goes home to Brooklyn, and Sylar's waiting for him. He introduces Mohinder to Maya and she has so many questions! After learning that Sylar's lost his powers, Mohinder tries to kill him, but Sylar pulls a gun. Maya figures out that Sylar's been lying to her the entire time and the Big Bad Blackness shows up again. Maya gets it under control, only after realizing that if she kills Mohinder, she's SOL for real.
Nathan and Matt get Angela released from prison and they all hang out at Peter's apartment. Matt reveals that Adam killed Victoria. Then Nathan tells her that Peter's alive and working with Adam. Angela says that, in the beginning, the ElderHeroes partnered up with Adam. Then, after awhile, it became clear that Adam was evil, and Angela tells the boys that Adam chose Peter because he's the only one who can get to the virus. She says that it's at Primatech, and that the only way they can stop Adam is with a bullet to the brain.
Over at Primatech, everyone's frozen except Hiro and Peter. Hiro tries to attack him, but he tells Hiro about the virus and how he and Adam are going to stop it. Peter shocks Hiro and he goes down. Adam unfreezes and takes his sword from Hiro's grasp as Peter gruffs that they should go destroy the virus now. Meanwhile, over in California, Claire plans to tell everyone what she can do, even though her mother doesn't think she should. Claire's determined, though, and she begins to gather ammunition.
Elle gets dissed by her dad, and goes to ask Bennet what he knows about her past. He eventually tells her everything, revealing that she was seven when her father supervised her Company-sanctioned torture. Tobby interrupts and Elle skitters off. Tobby tells Bennet that Claire's being difficult and that, due to the possibility of her having access to sensitive intel, precautionary measures will have to be taken.
In New Orleans, Micah finally returns home to a frantic Niki. He tells her about Monica and says he needs her help. Too bad the virus has taken her strength away and Mohinder's stuck in New York getting his ass whipped by Sylar. Micah thinks this is all fascinating, but would rather they jump in the car and go save Monica right now.
Peter and Adam bust into the lower level at Primatech and come face-to-face with a huge security safe. Before opening it, Peter questions Adam about his murderous ways. Adam convinces him that he's good and the ElderHeroes are evil and open the damn door already! Before he does, though, we have to go check in with Team Mohinder at his lab. As Mohinder takes some of Sylar's blood, Elle looks in on them with a hidden security camera and decides to go get Sylar. In the lab, Molly offers to find Alejandro for Maya and discovers that he's "not anywhere." Maya realizes that Sylar killed her brother. She confronts him; Sylar shoots her and orders Mohinder to give him the blood.
Bennet shows up at home and tells Claire to stop -- he's made a deal to go back into The Company in order to protect his family. He leaves and tells Tobby that it's done. Meanwhile, Peter's having a tough time with the big-ass safe door. He finally gets it open, but Hiro shows up to stop Adam from getting inside. Peter TKs him over to the wall and Adam heads into the safe. Peter looks well on his way to being a bad guy when Matt shows up, and he and Peter start thinking at each other about Adam's goodness or lack thereof. Nathan appears and tries to convince Peter to start seeing the forest for the damn trees already.
Hiro tries to stop Adam from releasing the virus while Nathan tries to make Peter come to his damn senses already. Peter finally does, and runs into the safe to grab the virus at the same moment that Hiro pulls Adam somewhere in time with him. The virus is about to drop when Peter TKs it in midair and saves the day. Peter and Nathan watch as he goes nuclear on it, basically annihilating it in his hand. In that vault of parental sin, the three boys agree to expose The Company for what it is. However, as they make their plans, Big Brother is watching from a vent.
Back with Team Mohinder, Maya gets her Hot Blood Injection and immediately starts to heal. Sylar takes the blood pack from Mohinder's bag and is about to leave when Elle shows up and takes a shot at him. A gun/electroshock fight ensues, with the outcome being that Sylar escapes, Elle runs after him, and there's no blood left to cure Niki. Niki and Micah are still trying to find Monica, but she's tied up in a building that's on fire. They finally track down the building and Niki goes all Hero on one of the gang member's asses, even though she no longer has super-strength. Niki manages to save Monica, but she traps herself inside in the process and the building explodes.
Hiro visits Ando and says that while he didn't kill Adam, he made sure to put him in a place where he can never hurt another person. And that place? Is a very deep grave across town. Speaking of graves, Maya's not in one. Instead, she's alive. Elle loses Sylar, but when Mohinder informs her that she saved their lives, she's reasonably impressed with herself.
Peter and Nathan have a brotherly moment in Odessa; then Nathan faces reporters and gives a stirring speech about Heroes and The Company and we get flashbacks to the past season, and even the first season. Nathan is on the verge of telling everyone that he can fly when three shots ring out. He goes down, and a man in black walks away from the crowd. Angela tells someone on her cell that it was unavoidable and that the person on the other end has opened Pandora's box. Volume Two ends, and Volume Three begins with Sylar sprawled in an alley somewhere, shooting up The Cure. His wounds heal and he tries out his TK on a spinach can. He yam what he yam. It works. "I'm baaaaaack," he smiles. Ooooooh. Want more? The full recap starts right below!
Previously on Heroes: Sylar was wet and shirtless. That is all.
Oh, fine. Last week, it was one big road trip for Peter and Adam, who went to visit Victoria in order to get the location of the virus. They killed her, but not before she told them that the virus was at good ol' Primatech Paper in Odessa, Texas. Bennet had a fucked-up eyeball due to the bullet it in it, but a bit of Claire's blood made him right as rain again, but all he really did was bitch at Mohinder about being a gullible pussy. Sylar killed Maya's brother, but he was wet and shirtless, so Maya thought this meant he was a good guy. Micah's stupid cousin stupidly thought selling Micah's comic books was a good idea, so he wound up getting jacked for them by a gang. So, of course, Monica and Micah play superheroes and go to get it, only to have Monica wind up kidnapped by the gang. Claire decided to come forward with her powers because...that's a good idea? And Peter and Adam made it to Odessa, only to have Hiro show up and foil their plans.
I still think the most interesting part about the whole thing was Wet and Shirtless Sylar, but maybe that's just me.
When the episode begins, Mohinder is returning home to The Biggest Apartment In Brooklyn, instead of boarding a plane to New Orleans in order to cure Niki. He removes the box with the cure inside of it and looks at it sadly, because he's a big old girl who'd rather save the kid with the big gums than some hot chick with dormant multiple personalities. When he enters the apartment, Sylar is sitting at his desk. He turns and greets Mohinder warmly, welcoming him home. "What happened to your nose?" he asks, seemingly genuinely interested. Heh. Mohinder just demands to know where Molly is. Sylar tells him she's in the bedroom, asleep, and that he'd better keep his voice down or Gummolly will wake up and think she has THREE daddies. Sylar stands, and Mohinder backs off, unaware that Sylar is only as dangerous as whatever sharp object he holds in his hand. "Breakfast?" offers Sylar with a hilarious open-armed shrug and a cocked eyebrow. I'm laughing out loud at the expression on his face. It's kind of a, "Hey, come on! Who couldn't do with a little huevos in the mañana?"
Turns out, Maya's made the brekkies, and she's delighted to meet Mohinder. Sylar makes the introductions, and she gushingly tells Mohinder how she's read his father's book and now she has tons of questions. The boys sit down as Maya serves them and talks about how meeting Gabriel was fate. Mohinder is all, "Gabriel? Don't you mean SYLAR? And don't you mean SYLAR THE MURDERER?" Maya's like, "Yeah, whatever, I know about his mother. Isn't he hot? You should see him wet without his shirt. You'd forget all about the dead mom too if you'd been in the presence of the wet hot shirtlessness, dude. Also? I think your busted-ass nose is leaking. Put a towel on that thing." Maya informs Mohinder that she, too, is a killer, and that she has a sickness and needs his help.
"We both need your help," Sylar pipes up sinisterly. "I've been reading all about your lab work on your laptop. About the Shanti virus. Does it reaaaaaally take away someone's abilities?" Mohinder says that it does and it also kills the person. "Is that why your powers are gone?" Maya blurts out, drawing a look of death from Sylar. "Because you think you have this virus?" Mohinder looks back and forth at the two of them, then whips out the knife to his plate. Sylar beats him to the punch by pulling out a gun and pointing it at his head. Mohinder drops the knife as Maya emotionally asks Sylar what the hell he's doing. He orders her to be calm and then tells Mohinder that his blood is the cure to what ails him. Mohinder tries to say that it doesn't always work, but Sylar's already discovered Claire and how her blood heals anything, especially when mixed with Mohinder's.
Light dawns on yonder chilaquiles. "You liiiiiied to me?" gasps Maya, finally cluing in to the fact that Sylar's not even remotely as nice as she thought he was. Sylar barely looks at her, and Mohinder takes this opportunity to hiss at her that Sylar's not his friend. "He's a monster." Maya's eyes start turning black, and Mohinder goes down. Sylar's eyes are turning too as Maya walks over and says that her brother was right not to trust him. He tells her that she really should be killing Dr. Suresh, the one person who can actually help her. Molly stumbles out, crying, and HER eyes are black, which makes her appear even creepier than normal. Mohinder tries to go to her, but everyone's all black-eyed and shit, so it's kind of a pathetic form of chaos for a minute. Sylar uses the appearance of a dying child to kick-start Maya's control process, and she manages to reel in the Tears of Satan before killing them all. Mohinder embraces Molly. He says that he'll help them, but they have to go to his lab in order to do so. "Lead the way...doctor," purrs Sylar.
Peter's Gargantuan Apartment That Does NOT Exist Within the Confines of Manhattan. Tonight's title appears on a tiled mirror that Nathan is standing before. He's looking at the picture of him and Peter that sits on the mantle. Ma Petrelli enters and rather snidely says, "I suppose I have you to thank for my early release from jail." Nathan's like, "Hey, YOU'RE WELCOME. And you didn't KILL anyone, so, you know, some THANKS might be in order." Matt's there, and he informs Angela that even though she didn't kill anyone, Adam Monroe certainly did. He tells her about Victoria's death and shows her the picture with the "S" symbol on it. "How long we gonna suffer for your sins?" spits out Nathan. "For your generation's deeds?" He looks smolderingly hot as he says this.
Angela says that Adam wanted revenge on his betrayers. "It's done now," she says. "Let it go, Nathan." Nathan just looks at her. "Peter's alive...Mom." She looks vaguely alarmed. Matt tells her that Adam's alive too, and Peter's in cahoots with him. Angela takes a deep breath and goes to her son, but he kind of looks away like, "Keep on walking, woman. No hugs here today." She gives her speech about how it all went wrong and they all banded together in order to change the world, but somehow that didn't happen, and we've heard this all before, really. What we haven't heard is that Adam had a perspective on history that was compelling and they believed in him. "I did, Linderman, your father..." Nathan points out that Tobby said they locked Adam away, but Angela just says that they didn't at first. "In the beginning, I helped him." I'll be she did. Adam's hot. I'm thinking she did more than help him, if you know what I mean, and I'm sure you do.
"You what?" snaps Nathan, looking at Matt in utter disbelief. "And in the end," she says, "Adam decided that the world just wasn't worth fixing and that it needed to be wiped clean with an unstoppable virus. And...just before it was too late, I came to realize how wrong it was." "Did you?" says Nathan with an edge to his voice. "You and Linderman wanted to blow up New York in order to save the world. Doesn't sound to me like you've changed much at all, Ma." Nice. She immediately spins around and says that only someone with Peter's abilities could get to where the virus is stored; it's obviously why Adam chose him to come along for the ride. Of course, Adam didn't choose to have Peter put right to him in the holding facility, but let's not fuss with petty details right now, shall we?
She tells them that the virus is in Odessa, and Matt and Nathan share a "We're on it" head-nod at each other. Nathan walks over to his mother and appears about to say something to her, but then he just scoffs and turns away. She grabs his arm and tells him that Adam will never quit, so a bullet right through the head is the only thing that can stop him. Nathan walks out and Angela thinks at Matt, "If you can't stop Peter, you'll have to kill him, too. Right through the head." Matt looks utterly freaked out by this unspoken declaration.
Odessa. Peter and Adam enter Primatech, and we get a short repeat of last week's closing scene. Then time stops and Hiro shows up and he and Peter have their verbal showdown wherein Peter tells Hiro he can't hurt Adam because they're going to save the world and Hiro tells Peter that he's a prom queen who's pinned herself to the wrong damn king. Hiro runs at Peter and Peter blasts him with electricity, but Hiro easily dodges it and teleports over to the other side of the room. He tells Peter that Adam used to be his friend too, but then he went all betrayal on Hiro's ass, so the friendship is kind of on the rocks at the moment. He launches himself at Adam again, but Peter freezes him with some TK.
"He saved my brother's life," says Peter. "He murdered my father," says Hiro. Well, that settles it, really. Murder trumps life-saving. I'm sorry, Peter. You're going to have to bow out on this one, buddy. But, nooooo. Peter can't take a damn hint already, and tells Hiro that Kaito had poor Adam locked away for thirty years. Hiro blinks and disappears. Peter walks over, looking for him, but when he turns, Hiro appears again and puts his sword to Peter's neck. "Hiro," says Peter calmly, "I went into the future. There's a virus. It kills almost everyone. And it starts here, today. Adam and I are gonna stop it." Hiro's like, "Birus? What birus? He kill mah faddah!" Peter grabs the sword with his hand and runs electricity through it and through Hiro. He falls, as does the sword. Everyone unfreezes and blithely ignores the Asian dude passed out on the floor with the samurai sword laying to him. Adam walks toward Hiro and says his name. Peter tells him that Hiro said he knew him, and Adam says they were friends once a very long time ago. "He tried to kill you," says Peter. "Said I shouldn't trust you." "And what did you think about that?" says Adam. "Let's go destroy the virus," says Peter, walking away. "Right," says Adam. Hee. He bends down and picks up the fallen sword. "I believe this is mine, carp," he says with a grim smile and walks away. Awesome.
Casa de Bennet. Claire's going through box after box of her father's papers, saying to her mother that he pretty much left everything behind. Her mother can't believe that she's actually going to go through with this whole "tell the world" plan. Claire thinks that if they killed her father, they'll never leave them alone, so she might as well take control of the situation. "Your father couldn't take down this company, Claire, what makes you think YOU can?" Claire thinks her mother doesn't understand because The Company only targets people like her -- people with abilities. Her mother starts crying, saying that Claire's still her daughter and she dreams of her going to college one day, even getting married. "What if they take you from me, use you in some lab experiment?" "I love you mom," says Claire. "But I can't live in fear of some big 'what if?'" With steely reserve, she returns to rifling through the boxes.
Company HQ. Tobby's in the middle of bitching out his daughter for fucking up the ONE thing he asked her to do. "I couldn't help it," says Elle. "She was just so weepy...and earnest...and who knew she'd turn whistle-blower?!" Tobby just tells her that it was unprofessional, not to mention stupid: "You and I both know Claire is nowhere NEAR your league!" Elle just lamely says she's working with a gunshot wound, but Tobby shoots her down, saying she's performing far beneath her usual level. He benches her; no more field assignments. Elle says she's sorry, but Tobby just goes, "When I think about all the hard work I've put into raising you..." "Daddy..." He ignores her, so she goes off to find her other daddy.
Bennet's in his cell, flinging a bouncy ball up against the wall over and over and over. Elle watches him until she can't stand it anymore and demands that Bennet tell her what Tobby did to her as a little girl. Bennet looks at her for a second, then returns to his ball-flinging. "I'm stuck in this hellhole, my family thinks I'm dead, there's not a lot of incentive to...share." Hee. Jack Coleman's delivery on this line is so fucking spot-on. Elle works a ball of blue electricity in her left palm and walks over to him threateningly. "I could make you." Bennet just looks at her. "You could try." Bounce. Bounce bounce. Hee. The electricity just fades out in her hand as tears appear in her eyes. "Please," she says. "I don't have anyone else I can talk to."
"They wanted to see how much wattage you could discharge," says Bennet. "Enough to power a flash light? Street lamp? An entire city block? During testing, you'd pass out from the strain. We'd all want to call it a day, but daddy said 'No, my girl's tougher than that.' You were seven." Bennet's point hits home with Elle, and she starts to cry. Bennet says that the hardest thing a parent ever does, is to have to see their child in pain. That's not even grammatically correct, but I get where he's going with it. Tobby suddenly appears and asks her what she's doing there. She looks at Bennet, then says she's leaving and goes. "Noah, we have a problem." "I'm not part of your 'we', remember?" Hee. "This is about Claire," says Tobby. "She's becoming difficult." Bennet smiles, almost proudly. "Is she?" Heh. Tobby needs to know if Claire has access to any hard evidence that could leave The Company exposed. Bennet smiles cryptically and bounces his ball. "That's unfortunate," says Tobby. "Because now we're going to have to take measures to keep your daughter quiet." He walks out.
New Orleans. Niki's frantically pacing the kitchen, and at first I thought she was doing so because she was waiting on Mohinder. I totally forgot about the entire "Monica gets kidnapped" subplot. Clearly, it made an impression on me. Micah runs in, and Niki does her "where the fuck have you been" mom mantra, but Micah just tells her about the whole bloody medal-rescue story. She goes to call the police, but Micah grabs the phone and says they have to rescue Monica themselves. "With your super strength--" Niki cuts him off. "Micah, I don't have my strength anymore." She explains about the virus and what it does, but she makes sure to quickly say that Mohinder's on his way with a cure. I wouldn't count on that, sweetheart. Mohinder's busy wondering what Sylar looks like wet and shirtless, he doesn't have TIME to think about you and your little cure. Micah's glad to hear about the cure, but right now, he has to go save Monica, so all Niki needs to do is drive.
Oh, it's time for like the best sequence of the season so far. We're in a basement hallway, and a guard comes flying out from the right and slaps into a wall. Another follows with a "WHAP!" Peter and Adam calmly round the corner as another guard comes toward them. He flips in mid-air, courtesy of Peter's TK, as Adam takes on another guard with his sword. Guards are flopping left and right as Peter and Adam barely pause. They walk up through the hallway, and I notice that both Anders and Ventimiglia are bow-legged. As if I didn't already love them BEFORE. Bow-legged guys are HOT. Trust me on this.
Man, I really hope I get laid at the office Christmas party. This is getting ridiculous.
So Peter and Adam walk down the hall and Adam goes, "I believe it's up to the left." Peter shoots him a glance. "Oh, please," quips Adam. "It's been thirty years!" Hee. They smoothly curve around another corner as the alarm blares. "Take care of that, would you?" Adam says to his guard dog. Peter shoots some electricity at the alarm and it blows up. They walk toward a huge safe at the end of a hall. "So what now?" asks Peter. "Guess you'll just have to pry it open with that brain of yours," says Adam. Peter's not sure he has that kind of power. "Well, there's not much at stake here," says Adam. "Just the fate of the entire human race." "Did you kill Hiro's father?" asks Peter. "I did," says Adam. "He saw to it that the virus be safely kept here. If he didn't plan to use it, why not destroy it?" "Why don't you make me believe you, Adam?" asks Peter. "Hiro said not to trust you." Adam points out that the woman Peter loves is trapped in some horrible future where nearly everyone's dead, but Peter can change that. "She needs you, Peter. We all need you to open that door." Adam walks off, and Peter puts his hand up and starts working on the door, grimacing and squinting as the door grinds and starts to burn and smoke.
Back in New York, Team Mohinder arrives at the SuperStudio, which, of course, is now Mohinder's lab. Maya snits at Sylar that he's nothing like he said he was. What, kind? Thoughtful? Shirtless? Human? He never said he was a nice guy, Maya. You just THOUGHT he was right about the time you saw him naked. Sylar grabs her arm and says that she wants to get rid of her powers while he wants his back, and once Mohinder cures him, he'll GLADLY take hers off her hands. Mohinder unlocks the door and they all cram inside and a light on the keypad outside glows red. That might be important later.
Sylar shoves Molly over to Maya and grabs Mohinder, propelling him down the stairs into the main area. He chuckles as he realizes that Mohinder has made Isaac's old studio his new laboratory. "I killed that artist right here on this spot," he says, clearly enjoying his recollections. Molly and Maya stay put as Mohinder slowly gains the upper hand with Sylar by drily requesting a sample of his blood. Sylar's all, "Uh, just gimme the effin' cure already." Mohinder's all, "It doesn't work like that, you doof. Now roll up your sleeve and lemme at 'em!" Mohinder is visibly over Sylar's shit right about now, which is evident when he just snaps the rubber strip that he wants to tie around Sylar's arm and gives him a look like, "Whatsa matter? Afraid of a little blooooood?" Sylar just gives the look right back at him and quickly drops the gun on the desk and removes his coat.
After he rolls up his sleeve, Mohinder begins to prep his arm. Sylar taunts him about his father as he does so, saying that he finds it poetic that Papa Suresh helped him find his gift and now here Mohinder is, helping him restore it. Mohinder tersely points out that Mohinder actually MURDERED his father, but Sylar thinks this was a necessary means, seeing as, in his own twisted superpower-laden mind, Papa Suresh betrayed him. He tells Mohinder not to make the same mistake, and Mohinder responds by jamming a needle into his vein. Hee. As Sylar watches his blood collect in the vial, Mohinder looks up at a smoke detector on the wall, and we see a blinking red light inside it that is most definitely NOT a power indicator.
Cut to Elle, sneaking into her father's office in an effort to get her hands on her file. Unfortunately, when she retrieves it from the shelf, it's empty. For some unknown reason, this gives her the brilliant idea to check out the ongoing video surveillances going on throughout The Company. She logs into a computer and several feeds come up. She pages through them and a security alert warning comes up. The screen switches to the scene currently happening in Mohinder's lab. Elle notices that Mohinder's not alone and that the other hot guy in the room is none other than Sylar. She logs out and says to her father's picture on the desk, "Oh, Daddy. You're gonna be SO proud of me!" She exits.
New Orleans. Monica's tied up to a pole, watching as the gang leader carries through a couple big red cans of gas. She pleads with the guy to let her go, but he's not budging. He says some shit about heroes in real life that I'm not paying attention to, then starts splashing the gas around. Monica reaches for the phone in her back pocket and we cut to Micah, sitting in the passenger seat of a car, watching a little red dot bleep on the screen of a cell phone. He's tracking Monica via the GPS signal in her phone. Niki asks how this works, and Micah just says that he basically told Niki's phone to find Monica's phone and tell him where it is. Niki's baffled at the genius of her son. I'm baffled that this storyline is STILL going on. As they're driving, he orders the lights to change green and again, Niki's stunned.
Primatech Paper. All we hear is a "Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa! Slow down! Slow down!" that sounds like it's coming from Parkman. Then suddenly, Parkman tumbles off...Nathan's back!!! Nathan tries to straighten up and his back cracks and he looks in pain and Matt turns to him and goes, "Okay...we don't talk about THAT ever again!" Hee! "Agreed," gasps Nathan. HEE! They start to head inside, but Matt hesitates, stopping to ask Nathan if he thinks Peter is as dangerous as he was that night in Kirby Plaza when he was nuclear. Nathan says that he hasn't seen Peter since that night, but he'd trust the kid with his life. "Your mother," says Matt, still trying to catch his breath, "your mother told me that if I had to, that I should kill Peter." Nathan just looks at him. "Listening to my mother has never led to anything good. If Peter becomes a problem, I'll handle him." "Frying Man!" calls Hiro from the door of the building as soon as he sees Nathan. "Who's THIS guy supposed to be?" asks Matt with a tinge of jealousy. Nathan is HIS Frying Man!
Casa de Bennet. I'm kind of over this storyline too, by the way. Claire's taping up boxes when West appears and informs her that he's there to stop her from going public. Claire's flabbergasted that her flying stalker boyfriend wouldn't want ALL his dirty laundry aired for everyone to see. Turns out, though, that West kind of digs his powers being a secret. Yeah, I'm sure, dude. What better way to sneak up outside the windows of girls you lust after? Claire thinks that going public is the only way to beat The Company, but West just says that going after The Company isn't going to bring her father back. Claire bitchily retrieves West's file and flings it at him, saying that now there's no "us" to be concerned about. He begs her not to do this, but she just smacks the file into his chest and turns around. He goes outside and then hilariously floats into the air with this deeply sad look in his eyes. Bye, West! I never liked you! Mr. Muggles enters and starts barking. Mr. Muggles: "I. Want. Kibble!" Claire looks down at him. "You'll never leave me, will you, Mr. Muggles?" Mr. Muggles: "GOD! Does NO ONE understand me?" He immediately turns around and runs to the door. Claire rolls her eyes and returns to her consolation boxes. The front door opens and she turns around again, only to see her father standing there. "Hello, Claire-Bear," he says without a smile. Claire drops her box. Literally.
SuperLab. Molly and Maya are still up in the corner. Maya says that she wishes her brother were here to help, but it seems to me that Alejandro was pretty damn ineffective most of the time, so I don't really see how he'd be able to help in any way. Molly says that she can find Alejandro for her, no matter where he is, so she can be assured that he's safe. She needs a picture, so Maya hands one over. Molly does her magic on it, but she comes up with nothing. Even Maya knows that nothing rather than something is a bad thing indeed. She looks over at Sylar and stands up.
Down at the microscope, Mohinder discovers that Sylar has the same strain of the virus that Niki has, which means that The Company injected him as well. Sylar's pissed. But so is Maya. "You killed him?!" she says, appearing behind him. "You killed my brother!!" Sylar gets this, "Oh, what NOW" look on his face that's priceless. He turns and shoots her in the chest. "Now look what you made me do!" Heh. Sorry, he's funny. Maya drops to the floor, and the camera pulls back to reveal that yet another person of Latin descent has been murdered upon the Floorpocalypse. If I had even a drop of Latin blood in me, I'd stay far the hell away from that stupid-ass floor. Sylar turns his gun on Mohinder and asks where the "heal anything" blood is. Mohinder pulls it out of his bag, and Sylar realizes that they never had to come to the lab in the first place because he'd had the cure all along. "You and I have trust issues, Doctor," spits Sylar. He orders Mohinder to give it to Maya first and, if it saves her, he'll "let" Mohinder save him too.
Casa de Bennet. Ma Bennet has shown up, and she is royally peeved at her husband for lying to them about his death. He says it wasn't a lie and that none of this was his decision. Claire says that she saw him get shot, and Bennet tells her about how her blood saved him. Everyone starts yammering at him about the fake death thing until finally Bennet just says to Claire that she has to stop what she's doing to expose The Company. Claire argues that if they destroy them, they'll get their lives back. Bennet says that if she pushes this, The Company will take preventative measures. This rings alarm bells in Ma Bennet's head, but Bennet tries to silence them, saying that he's made a deal that will keep them all safe; he's agreed to go back to The Company. Claire begs him not to do this, but he says she was right when she said this was all his fault. "I never meant to hurt you," he says with a choking voice. He touches his wife's hand and exits through the front door. Tobby's waiting. "It's done," says Bennet with a grimace.
Meanwhile, Peter's still trying to get the damn door off the safe. He's making all kinds of faces at it, to no avail. But, after several hundred sound effects and a cartload of bent metal, Peter finally pulls the thing off. Blood streams from his nose, the TK obviously having taken a lot out of him. He tells Adam to go get the virus, but before he can, Hiro shows up and says he must stop him. Adam just looks annoyed as he pulls his sword. Hiro flies at him, but Peter flings him against the wall, knocking him out. Adam tells Peter that Hiro will keep on trying to kill him unless he does something about it. He slips inside the safe as Peter looks down at the fallen Hiro. He reaches out his hand and TKs poor Hiro up the wall, squeezing as he goes. Hiro groans.
Just then, Matt appears and starts thinking at Peter to go after Adam and let Hiro go. He tries to push at Peter that Adam's using him. For a second, his power gets the better of Peter and he lets Hiro go. But he very quickly starts absorbing the power and fighting back against Parkman. They engage in a wordless battle over the innocence or lack thereof of Adam, until finally, Peter gets sick of thinking at him and just TKs him into the air and onto the floor. He shoves Parkman all the way down the hall and tells him out loud that he's on the wrong side. "What about me?" says Nathan, coming between them. "Am I on the wrong side too?" Peter can't believe that his brother's standing before him, looking all kinds of hot. In the area outside the safe, Hiro wakes up and realizes where he is and quickly teleports into the safe.
Inside, Adam's opened a case and is appearing to reach for something. Hiro appears and says that Adam was his friend. Adam turns and says that Hiro was more than a friend to him; he was a rudderless drunk until Hiro came along. "You taught me to be a hero." "Only to have you become a villain." Adam whips out his sword and, sadly, that is not a euphemism. "I learned that from you," he says as the camera reveals what Hiro cannot see: Adam already has the virus in his left hand.
Outside the safe, Nathan's trying to convince Peter that Adam's a bad guy. He tells Peter that he went to The Company and found out all about who Adam is and what he wanted. "Pete...he tried to release the virus." Peter just responds that Adam is the reason Nathan got healed. "You should be grateful." "He used me," Nathan whispers. Back inside, Adam's going on and on about wars and famine and bad things and how, 400 years later, nothing much has changed. "When God wasn't happy with what he created," he says, warming to his religious theme, "he made it rain for 40 days and 40 nights. He just washed it all away. And he had the right idea. Because when this virus is released, those of us who are left will be granted a second chance. And I'll be their hero." God. The old, "I want to be king of the world" villainous ploy? That's such a tired cliché!!!
Outside, Nathan tells Peter that Adam used him to get to Peter. That he tried to manipulate him. Peter kind of backs up, confused, and Nathan continues, saying that that night in Kirby Plaza, he carried Peter away because he believes in him. "You're my brother, Pete. I love you." Peter gulps. Back inside, Hiro tells Adam that he's not a god. "Really?" says Adam. "I've lived for over 400 years -- who's to say I'm not going to live for 400 more?" "I should have killed you long ago," says Hiro. "I should kill you now. For my father." Adam holds the tip of the sword to Hiro's throat. "Can you really trust Adam?" says Nathan outside.
The Drums of the SuperRonin start up as Peter suddenly comes to his senses and runs toward the safe. Nathan follows. Matt follows. Hiro reaches out and puts his hand on Adam's shoulder and they disappear, but not before Adam lets go of the virus in his hand. It starts falling. Peter runs. Nathan runs. Matt runs. The virus continues falling. Peter slips between the door and the frame just as the virus is about to hit the floor. He TKs it in midair and stops it from hitting. Slowly, he move forward and grabs it. Nathan and Matt slam into the room. Matt asks where Hiro and Adam went and Peter's like, "I locked them in one of the tiny boxes on the wall -- don't you see 'em?" Matt starts looking around at all the stuff and he wonders out loud what it all is.
Peter turns the virus over in his hands and muses that he saw the devastation that it wreaked. Nathan sternly tells him that he can't be responsible for something that might happen. "You came here to destroy the virus, now finish the job." Peter gruffs at them to stand back, and then he turns around and wraps the virus in his nuclear hands. Bright light bursts from between his fingers as the virus burns. When he opens his hands, all that's left is dust and a momentary "S" symbol. The dust sort of evaporates and Matt sees this and he suddenly gets all angry. "What the hell is going on? Your mother -- my father -- god knows what else they've done. How much longer are we gonna have to clean up their mess?"
Nathan says that he's right. "We've been used by these people, manipulated. But it's over. Stops here. No more secrets." Peter asks what they're supposed to do and Nathan says that they'll take it all public and expose The Company for what they are. Hm. Would that be the same Company that places poorly-hidden surveillance cameras in highly visible places all over their facilities and then makes sure they have BLINKING LIGHTS on them that people can see from MILES AWAY? Dudes. You're in a Company facility that you've just broken into. You might want to 1) not discuss anarchy and whistle-blowing until AFTER you've left the building and 2) LOOK FOR BLINKING RED CAMERA LIGHTS. Nathan just balls-out says he wants to have a press conference and that he needs Matt's help to get people to listen to him. Matt nods and looks at Peter. Peter glowers and looks back at Matt. The camera keeps blinking and blinking and blinking.
SuperLab. Mohinder delivers the cure to Maya, and instantly, the bullet poops out of her chest. Mohinder grabs it and rolls it around in his fingers. "I'm sure Maya will understand why I'm not here when she wakes up," says Sylar, grabbing the remaining injection. He goes to leave, but Elle shows up and, instead of just firing some shockwaves at him, she goes, "SYLAR!" first, as if to say, "Hi! I'm here to kill you!" Sylar, of course, takes aim and shoots at her, but all he does is break a lot of glass. He runs out, and Elle gets up and shoots bolt after bolt after him, but only connects with one. He goes down, and she runs over to him, but he's run off. Mohinder looks down at his bag and sees that Sylar's taken the remaining cure and, only NOW does Mohinder think of poor Niki and her impending death.
Speaking of Niki, she's still in New Orleans, trying to find Monica. Micah tells her that they're almost there. Inside the building, Monica appears to be trying to make a phone call. The gang dude sees her and grabs the phone out of her hand, and even though she swears she didn't call anyone, he decides it's time to light the candles on this cake. He sets a lighter to one of Micah's comic books, and it goes up in flames. He starts touching it to gas-soaked portions of the room as Monica starts crying and pleading for her life. Outside, Micah tells his mother to stop and she does. He looks up and sees the red van and the guy who took Monica. "Hold on," says Niki, peeling out from her parking spot.
The red van comes toward them and Niki careens up and crosses its path with her car. She gets out and, even though she doesn't have any powers, she moves toward him like a little bit of Jessica might still be around. "You crazy bitch! What's wrong wit you?" says the gang leader, getting out of his van and coming toward her. She quickly answers with a kick to the groin that makes him drop his gun. Niki picks it up and points it at him, asking where Monica is. He tells her to go to hell. Niki bitch-slaps him with the butt of the gun. Micah calls out that Monica's in the building that's now on fire. She orders him to stay in the car and call 911. She delivers a final blow to the gang leader, knocking him out cold. Maybe Niki doesn't need her alter egos after all...
She runs to the building and makes her way inside. She calls out for Monica and immediately finds her. "How'd you find me?" Monica asks tearfully as Niki frees her hands. "Micah," says Niki. "Oh, I love that kid!" says Monica with a laugh. Hee. We all do. Even though his stories suck. They go to leave, but the building won't let them. At every turn, more burning pillars are falling over in their path. One beam lands against the exit, effectively trapping them. Niki realizes what she has to do. "Okay, when I lift that beam, you pull the door open!" Monica nods her understanding. Niki wraps her hands and pulls the beam off the door. Monica grabs it and opens it and Niki tells her to go and that she'll be right behind her. Unfortunately, the second Monica leaps through, Niki has to let go of the beam and she's trapped again. She looks around for another way out, but there's nothing. Monica makes it out and Micah runs to her, but she pulls him off and away from the building as it explodes. "Moooooom!!!!" screams Micah as Monica holds him. Monica's his new mommy.
Tokyo. Ando walks through the cubicles while reading a trashy magazine. Suddenly, he comes upon his old friend Hiro, back at work at his old cubicle. The Kensei sword sits before him. Ando asks what he's doing here, and Hiro says he went to face his father's killer. Ando asks if he found him and if he killed him. "He can never hurt anyone ever again," is all Hiro will say. Cut to Adam, screaming "CAAAARP!" at the top of his lungs from...inside a coffin. Oh, that is just genius. Man can't die -- he's gonna be in there for a really long fucking time, y'all. Even better, it would appear that Hiro has buried his old friend in the same cemetery as his parents. Poetic justice indeed.
SuperLab. Maya comes to with a start. "I thought...I was dead!" Mohinder says that she very nearly was dead. Elle comes back in. "Sylar's gone," she says, smacking the doorframe. "My dad's gonna kill me!" Heh. She gets all the best lines. Mohinder tells her that if she hadn't arrived, Sylar would have slaughtered them all; she saved their lives. Elle: "Really? Cool." See? All the best lines.
Odessa Police Station. Cameras are setting up for the impending press conference. Matt, Nathan, and Peter walk toward the podium as Peter muses that if he hadn't listened to Adam...Nathan reaches out and grabs his shoulder and says, "Hey, if I hadn't listened to Linderman..." Peter stops and Nathan gets handsy with him, putting his manly hands on his brother's shoulders. "You tried to do the right thing," he says. "You always do. You trusted that people are as good as you are. But if you see yourself as a monster, Pete, this guilt is just gonna eat you up inside. Believe me, I know." Peter smiles at him. "What?" "I just really missed you," says Peter. "I missed you too," says Nathan. AND THEN THEY KISS. Okay, so it's only a hug, but they were totally playing up the HoYay! I swear!
Matt breaks up the brotherly love fest to inform Nathan that the press is ready for him and they're ready to listen. Seconds later, Nathan's standing in front of them, delivering his speech as the flashes go off. Nathan begins by introducing himself and telling everyone that he was elected to Congress, but it seems like a long time ago. "I lost my position. I lost my brother. I lost my family." We see flashbacks of Peter going nuclear in Kirby Plaza and Nathan fighting with his mother while drunk. "I'm sad to say that I lost my way." We see Nathan arriving in Ireland in the rain. "But while I was gone, I had the chance to see the world through newly-humbled eyes." Molly runs into Mohinder's arms, and they embrace, full of smiles, as Matt looks on. "I witnessed amazing things." D.L. rescues the child from the burning home. "Seen ordinary people among us trying their best each day to be heroes." There's an extended montage of the past season, including Matt breaking into a building, Claire falling from the sky, and Maya and Alejandro running around Mexico.
"These ordinary people, like you, like me, are capable of extraordinary things. You have no idea...how extraordinary. But there are other people, organizations who don't want you to know the truth." Here we see Tobby and the Haitian Sensation. "I myself kept secrets." Nathan punches his burnt reflection in the mirror and then shoots up into the sky. "But then last year, something incredible happened to me." Nathan falls from the sky after Peter drops him, but then Peter picks him up again. "And it changed my life. At first, I was afraid." (And yes, at this point, I have it paused and it's all I can do not to go, "I was petrified! Kept thinking I could never live without you by my side!" But I'll refrain from continuing, I promise.) Nathan continues, "I'm not afraid anymore. I'm here to tell you the truth." He glances at his brother and takes a deep breath. "I have the ability--"
BANG BANG! Two gunshots ring out and Nathan goes down. Chaos ensues as Matt and Peter try to care for Nathan. Peter holds him in his arms and calls his name, but Nathan doesn't make a sound. He seems to be mouthing Peter's name, but we can't hear it. Matt looks up and looks around for the shooter, but all we see is a man in a black coat walking away from the action. Everyone I've talked to thinks it's Bennet, but this looks like a younger, slimmer person to me. Could even be a woman. I don't think it's Bennet at all. Across the country in New York, Angela Bennet is just watching the assassination on the news. She's on the phone with someone. She turns off the TV and says, "I know. It was unavoidable. You do know that now you've opened Pandora's Box?" She closes the phone and looks down at the floor.
The chryon informs us that it's the end of Volume Two.
The chryon informs us that it is now Volume Three, and its title is "Villains". Speaking of villains, Sylar's slumped in an alley somewhere, injecting himself with the Cure. His wounds begin to heal, and he realizes that he has to test his powers. He reaches out and pinpoints an empty can of spinach over near a dumpster. Slowly it shuffles and twitches until finally, it flies across the expanse and into Sylar's hand. "I'm back..." he says, smiling at his new best friend.
