So, the lights are out, the backup lights are really dim, and Seattle continues to be a place where bad and dangerous situations only ever get worse and actually deadly. The backup power holds for a little while but then goes out completely, so Frank the maintenance guy goes down to try and figure out what is going on. Meanwhile, Fetus is in a totally horrible position and so they have to do a c-section. Once the baby is out he doesn't cry for a moment as we all saw fifty times in the commercials, but then he turns out okay. His numbers are a little bit low, though, so Derek takes him up to the NICU. With Cristina having been pulled into an urgent heart surgery, Smash and Heather are left with Mere and when the OB is pulled to another delivery, Smash takes over the last bit of sewing up Mere's c-section incision. She starts to bleed heavily, though, and she realizes she must have been hurt in the fall and not realized it because she then went into labor and any pain she had just melted together with the contractions. She walks Smash through the surgery as far as she can so that he can try and find the bleed, and Heather runs for help.

Bailey thought she was ready for surgery again but when she gets into the OR and is faced with actually having to cut, she finds she still can't do it. Richard takes over but as they work he realizes there's a problem with the guy's heart. As if that wasn't enough, the power fully goes out so they have to work with just headlamps and flashlights. He calls Cristina to come help but she's adamant that she can't operate in the dark. Richard points out that the guy is going to die if she doesn't operate, and eventually he's able to talk her into doing the procedure and then talks her past one moment of panic so that she can sense where the problem is and repair it even with almost no light. Afterward, she thanks him sincerely for making her a better surgeon. He's still riddled with guilt for yelling at Bailey since it obviously didn't help, but Ben points out that he hasn't been able to help either, and Bailey knows that he cares about her. Richard then decides to go down to the basement to see what is taking Frank so long with the generators.

Since she won't operate, Bailey tries to find other ways to help such as delivering blood to the ORs and getting pain meds for the patients who are pouring in. But with the power out, the pain med locker can't be opened since it requires and electronic code. She and Leah try to get it open but nothing works, and finally Heather runs up to find help for Smash as he tries to save Meredith. Bailey snaps and beats up the medicine locker with an IV stand, which breaks it open and frees the pills. She then tells Leah to take the meds to the ER, and she goes with Heather to help Mere. She requests an extra set of gloves and hesitates a moment, but finally jumps in and gets back to work. Cristina finds out what's going on and she and Derek wait in the hall for any word; when Bailey comes out she's so overcome with emotion that she starts bawling and they fear the worst. But Mere is totally okay, and when she starts to apologize for scaring them, Derek grabs her in a giant bear hug. Once Mere wakes up, she and Derek decide that Fetus' real name should be Bailey.

Earlier in the evening, Cristina had gone up to the roof with Owen as he sent Ethan and Paul in a helicopter to Seattle Pres. When she sees how he is with the kid and how hard this is for him, she starts to ask him about his wanting a family. Owen insists that he just bonded with this one particular kid, and that all he wants is her. But at the end of the day, after watching Derek and Meredith and their kids together, she goes to talk to him again. She asks him if she would really be enough for him, for the rest of his life, and while he desperately wants to say yes, she knows that the answer is no and leaves, adding sadly that their breakup really already happened.

In a scene that was supposed to be dramatic but was so over the top as to make me burst out laughing, a bus driving down the street skids, hits some cars, flies into the air, lands on its side, and bursts into flame, all in front of the ER. The docs all run out to help get everyone out before the whole thing explodes, and they seem to do it just in time. But as Jackson is about to walk away he sees a shoe and finds the little girl cowering under the wreckage, not wanting to come out. He pleads with her but nothing, and then the bus explodes. April and Matthew had both been helping and were outside when it happened and April had been yelling at Jackson to clear the area not realizing he was down there with a child. When the bus explodes she totally loses it, but then Jackson comes triumphantly walking through the flames with the girl in his arms. Later, when Callie is treating him, April freaks out and descends on him, shoving and hitting him, and Callie has to scream at her and force her away. Poor Matthew looks a tad worried when he sees a shirtless Jackson and I think April's reaction might have clued him in to the fact that Jackson was the one to whom she gave her precious flower. She then goes to see Jackson later and admits that she wants him, and if he can give her a reason not to then she won't marry Matthew.

After Lauren and Arizona's sexual escapade ends, Arizona gets dressed and practically sprints away, consumed by guilt. She then gets upstairs to the NICU where Alex and Princess are holding down the fort with all the tiny humans and their very worried parents. When the backup generator goes out all is fine for a few moments since the ventilators are on batteries but then the batteries all start to die and no one had thought to stock more. Lauren shows up to try and help and while Arizona tries to send her away, Alex has her stay since they need her. Arizona admits to Alex that she cheated and feels horrible, but Alex counters that every girl he's been with had been normal before they got together with him and became crazy and damaged. That's actually debatable, but his point is that Arizona is a way better person than he is. When the batteries all start to die everyone panics that there aren't enough doctors to manually ventilate the babies but Derek, there with Fetus/soon-to-be-Little-Bailey points out that there are enough adults, and Princess walks them through how to do it, making everyone feel reassured and confident that they can get through this. Alex is so touched that he tells her he loves her, and despite the fact that she is afraid because their friendship is so perfect, he convinces her this is right and the two start making out. And I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

When Callie gets upstairs to check on Arizona she notices Arizona's wedding ring pinned to Lauren's shirt -- looks like there was a bit of a post-coital wardrobe mix-up. She and Arizona get into a giant fight where finally Arizona screams at Callie that she wasn't on the plane and despite the fact that she acts like one of them, she has no real idea what they went through and never will. She then, to Callie's horror, brings up the leg YET AGAIN. Callie and I thought that was finally over, and Callie points out that she did it to save Arizona's life, but it does rather look like the end of the road for these two.

When the lights finally come back on, Bailey tells Ben she feels horrible about what she said to Richard and she wants to find him immediately and apologize. Earlier when Richard went downstairs to look for Frank, he found him slumped over having just had a heart attack. Richard sloshes through the water that is slowly filling the basement and took care of him, and when Frank was being taken upstairs he told Richard that he found the problem, and someone just needs to flip the switch. This obviously happened, since the lights turned back on, but as Bailey goes to look for Richard the last shot we see of him shows him lying in a pool of water, cables sparking all around him, and his lab coat totally burned and smoking. It's not a Grey's finale without someone beloved possibly dying, right?

Storm's a-ragin'. While the lightning flashes dramatically throughout the dark hospital, we see Derek and Cristina round a corner and sprint towards us in slow-motion. I think when they filmed this the two of them weren't running totally full-out because their faces aren't making those awkward, slow, putty-like ugly moves that faces do when you sprint. As we run, Mere tells us a story about a med school professor she had who died after routine surgery because everything that could go wrong, did. Surgeons call this a "perfect storm," and Mere thought it would never happen to her. But the dramatic sprinting is to her bedside, because it totally is.

Five hours earlier, Owen and Cristina are escorting Ethan and Paul up to the helicopter pad so that they can be taken to Seattle Pres. Ethan seems sad and worried, and pleads with Owen to go with them too. This has to be a little bit awkward for Paul, who's in bed all, "But hey! I'm awake now!" It really is probably better for all of them that they are leaving, not just for Owen and his sad, childless heart. Owen paternally pulls up the hood on Ethan's jacket and reassures him before sending him out to the helicopter with the transport guys. As they watch, Cristina brings up the whole adoption idea and is shocked that Owen is trying to act like it's not an issue between them. He insists that this was just about this one particular kid and not about wanting children in general but Cristina is convinced he's lying to himself. He points out that he's not lying about loving and wanting her. But Cristina is scared that one day he'll look at her and resent her for not being able to give him everything he wanted. One of the transport guys runs the gurney back to them and since the doors are still open onto the pad I totally expected some ER-esque dramatic crash, but fortunately all is well. The preposterous accidents are being saved for later. Cristina then gets a page that Mere is in labor.

She's super in labor, in fact, leaning against the bed, breathing through a contraction while Derek comforts her. Cristina points out that they need to talk about her birth plan so that Cristina knows what to bully the doctors and nurses about but Mere is kind of over the planning since the time is actually here. Derek goes off in search of the doctor as the lights flicker ominously and Mere instead asks Cristina if she spoke to Owen. Cristina tries to change the subject back to Mere, asking if her pain level has reached 7 or 8 yet. Mere insists that Cristina talking about Owen will help take her mind off of what's going on in her abdomen, and Cristina answers sadly that she thinks Owen's pain is a 10 right now. Whereas I am at a 1 -- that point on the little illustrated pain chart where the cartoon face is all smiley and content -- because I didn't really find Ethan super compelling as anything but a storytelling tool to drive this wedge in between Owen and Cristina. I mean, he's no adorable munchkin like Zola. So I'm not sad that he and Paul are off to rebuild their own lives off-camera.

Bailey and Smash are getting ready for a surgery and Ben is there as well, having offered to be the anesthesiologist for Bailey's first go back. He gives Smash grief for being so excited that this poor guy fell off the roof while trying to clean out his gutters in hurricane-force winds. Poor Smash, he really does make it too easy. He tries to backpedal, assuring Ben he's just happy that Bailey is back, and Ben agrees. They then both watch as someone puts gloves (presumably their pre-Pegasus, well-made ones) on her hands and then she turns to the patient. But after a moment of nervously staring and flexing her fingers, she stutters that she can't do this.

Downstairs, Jackson, Owen, and a maintenance man named Frank are all staring out at the water that is already pooling in the parking lot. Frank assures them that they have sandbags and various other things to keep the hospital from flooding and that they also shouldn't worry about the flickering lights because he just tested the generators the month before. Oh Frank, the thing you don't realize is that this is a season finale and it just won't do to have things work as they are supposed to. He assures the docs that he'll take care of the hospital itself and they should just worry about the patients. Owen is worried because the beds are filling up quickly but Richard just explains to him and to us that people think the hospital is the safest place to ride out the storm so they are coming in just because they are scared, not sick.

April is fiddling with her new engagement ring and tells Callie that she loves it but it feels weird on her finger and she keeps banging it on things. Callie reaches up to her scrub top and shows April that she's got her own ring pinned to it, just inside the collar, and April happily thanks her for the suggestion and runs off to do the same. I will reassure all of you now that this doesn't start some ridiculous, overplayed mix-up with Matthew thinking she's not wearing it because she has doubts, and April trying to reassure him that it's fine while actually having doubts. Well, I mean, I make no promises about the doubts, but no time will be wasted on the "why aren't you wearing your ring" thing.

As April leaves, Bailey walks up and tells Owen that he needs to find a replacement for her patient Jimmy's surgery. Callie looks worried and just a little bit heartbroken, while Owen kind of pointedly says that she's a surgeon and she's available. She admits she can't do it, just as an older man walks up and introduces himself as Jimmy's dad, asking if he's out of surgery yet. Richard walks up and hears the exchange and smoothly tells the guy that he's Jimmy's surgeon and they leave to discuss what happened. Bailey tells Owen and Callie, embarrassed, that she wants to help out but Owen answers with a little bit of understandable frustration that it's hard to find a job for her when she won't touch the patients. Callie comes up with an idea -- Bailey can help make sure the ORs have enough surplus blood on hand. Bailey leaves to do that, and Callie tells Owen to cut her some slack.

Alex and Princess then walk in and Alex is able to use the convenient excuse of a tree falling to explain her shiner. Jackson has been working on getting all of the NICU babies transferred somewhere else so they leave to help, while Callie frets that Arizona was supposed to be in charge of that. She asks if anyone has seen her.

Lauren certainly has, and she's still looking at Arizona while she lounges in bed and Arizona angrily pulls her scrubs back on. Lauren asks if she is okay and Arizona just tells her she needs to help out in the NICU; when Lauren asks if they need help Arizona tells her absolutely not. The afterglow is clearly already gone for her and now she's just being suffocated by guilt.

Pretty much all of the NICU babies' parents are up there, and all are worried about the situation and unhappy about the priority order in which they are being evacuated. That becomes moot pretty quickly, though, when Stephanie answers the phone and reports that they are suspending all evacuations since the ambulances can no longer make it out of the parking lot. Because this wasn't all worrying enough, the lights then go out. Arizona walks up right then and assures everyone that they will be fine but in a whisper confers with Alex and the others and is worried that no other nurses were able to make it in to work. She reminds everyone that the tiny human makers are easily spooked so their first priority is to keep everyone calm and happy. Lauren then walks up and offers to help and Arizona tells her no as Alex tells her yes and gives her a job. He then reminds Arizona that they need the extra set of hands to keep the parents happy as she herself just said. Arizona looks troubled that she can't argue against her own orders.

Derek returns to Mere's room with her doctor, Connie, and then he and Cristina immediately begin bickering about if she'll want drugs or not until Mere hollers at them to shut up. She gives Connie the rundown on her contractions and asks if she can push. Connie does a quick exam first and immediately her face falls and she orders Mere to definitely, absolutely not push. The baby is in such a position that they have to do a c-section, which Mere really, really doesn't want. Cristina assures her that this is barely even a real surgery (and then apologizes to an annoyed Connie) but the stakes are raised when the power goes out. Derek tries to tell the ladies that the power will be right back on but the lightning flashes and the room stays dark. Dramatically, we go to the title card that flashes back and forth between black and white.

In Richard's dark ER, he instructs everyone to stay calm and they gather headlamps and flashlights. Thankfully, Ben's stuff is on battery backup so James stays breathing and unconscious. Owen runs in with Frank to make sure everyone is okay, and Richard testily reminds Frank that this happened once before and he found there was air in the fuel system, which he promised would never happen again. Frank agrees, and Richard loses it, yelling at him to get his ass downstairs to go check on it seeing as how there's a guy open on the table right now. I like Frank and he seems generally quite capable so it makes no sense that he'd be trotting around with Owen rather than already downstairs trying to figure out why the generators had kicked in. But wouldn't it make a great story for Richard to yell at him and then something dramatic to happen causing Richard some angst? Especially since he was already feeling guilty for yelling at Bailey? Smash then pulls up the ultrasound on battery power and they discover that James has some problem with his heart. Jeff didn't make it in because of the storm, so that means they need Cristina to come help.

But when Smash finds her at Mere's bedside, she basically laughs him off, announcing that she can't operate in the dark. Pointedly, she turns to Connie and tells her that NO ONE is going to be doing any surgery in the dark. Mere assures Cristina she'll be fine, though, so Cristina goes to see Richard and orders Smash to stay there in her place and report back as soon as they make a decision about the c-section. The thing is, there isn't really a decision to be made because there are no other options -- the way the baby is positioned, it could essentially break his neck if they tried a natural birth. She reminds them that also, this kind of thing is her job, so she knows what she's talking about, and if she does the c-section then both mom and baby will live though it. Mere finally concedes, while Derek glares at Connie like it's her fault that Fetus isn't in the right position and also she's a demon that made the lights go out.

When Bailey drops blood off in Richard's OR, there is an awkward moment where he thanks the "nurse" and then tries to backtrack when he realizes it is her. After she leaves, he and Ben have a conversation where he admits that he feels super guilty for yelling at her. Ben points out that he offered to work on this surgery in hopes that it would help too, so neither of them seem to be able to figure out what the solution is. Cristina, meanwhile, is having trouble finding the source of the bleeding but refuses to fully open the guy up with no light. Richard points out that they did just teach the Syrians how to work under these craptastic conditions but she just counters that she's not Syrian. Richard then takes another approach, telling her about the patient's family and how he came to be cleaning out his widowed father's gutters in the wind and rain. Ben watches Richard work his magic and sure enough, Cristina reluctantly finally agrees to do it.

While Connie preps Mere for her procedure, Mere and Derek discuss baby names -- he likes William while she likes Sebastian and neither seem terribly interested in the other's preference. Heather then comes in, having been told to go to the ORs to let everyone know they are trying to fix the lights. Thank goodness, because I assumed that everyone would just be sitting on their asses, playing cards in the dark for kicks. She gets roped into helping hold a flashlight as Connie gets ready to begin. Mere is terrified, but Derek assures her it will be fine. For good measure he leans over and menacingly threatens Connie not to screw up. She can hold her own, though, and orders him to get back so she can work.

Jackson is doing the best he can to control the chaos in the lobby with Owen, Callie and Arizona helping him out. Matthew arrives, having walked there once his ambulance got stuck on a flooding street, because he is the perfect man. Bailey then walks up and asks what she can do to help, so all five of them happen to be looking out the window when a bus inexplicably comes careening into the parking lot, hits some cars, and goes fully airborne before crashing on its side. The docs all react in horror, but readers, your recapper just burst out laughing at the sheer absurdity of it all. And that isn't even all -- as soon as it hits the ground, it lights on fire. All of the docs and Matthew then sprint outside to help. I guess this is what we get for them showing restraint earlier and not crashing Paul and Ethan's helicopter.

Of course there is a fuel leak somewhere, so the staff is all trying desperately to get everyone out of the bus before the whole thing blows up. Bailey looks rather lost since she's still too scared to touch anyone, so Owen tells her to go get meds for all the new patients. Callie yells that everyone has to move before it blows up, but there's one woman stuck so Owen and Jackson crawl inside to help her.

Once Connie gets the baby out, there are a few very tense moments of silence and Mere cries in panic, begging to know why he's not crying. Finally, though, there's a little peep and Derek brings him over to Mere, wrapped in blankets, and the two cry happily about how perfect he is. After a moment, though, he goes back to the doctors because his breathing is a little bit shallow. Connie decides to send him to the NICU just to be totally safe, and Mere orders Derek not to leave him. Derek agrees, but in turn makes Heather and Smash promise not to leave Mere as Connie finishes up.

Arizona and Alex are digging through a supply closet looking for batteries, and she proceeds to beat herself up for not thinking about backup batteries earlier, on account of being busy cheating on Callie. She really does blurt out her indiscretion to Alex, but he's actually a good person for that kind of admission and rather than chastise her, he tells her his own sob story: He's in love with Princess but won't tell her because every woman he loves turns crazy, or mean, or leaves and he claims that the one thing they all had in common is that they were fine before they met him. That is incredibly revisionist history -- Izzie was always a weirdo, Princess clearly has a lifetime of trust and rage issues, and Jane Doe came into his life when she'd been crushed into an unrecognizable mess with amnesia. But it's easier to throw himself a pity party if he maintains they were all just normal, fine and dandy before he came into their lives. But his point, which is sweet, is that Arizona isn't the worst person in that closet at that moment. Unfortunately, though, they can't find any batteries, and have no idea what they are going to do.

Leah goes with Bailey to go collect meds but when they get to the pain medication cabinet, the power outage has left the computer dead so there's no way to punch in her code and unlock the door. Bailey starts to panic, and Leah looks pretty worried to see Bailey melting down in front of her.

Connie is stitching Mere back up and counseling Smash on how to talk to worried new mothers -- if he doesn't know what's going on, be positive because chances are everything will work out fine. A nurse then comes in and tells Connie that they have another labor emergency so she tells Mere that her uterus is stitched up and asks if she trusts one of the interns to finish up the last of the outer stitching. Heather immediately offers to do it but Smash hollers at her that she already stole neuro so she's not stealing this patient from him too. He then turns and immediately apologizes to Mere for fighting over her like she's a steak that has been tossed to two starving dogs, but Mere tells him she likes his enthusiasm and he's got the job.

Once Cristina has her patient open, she still can't find the source of the bleeding with just the few little lights that they've got. She is ready to give up but Richard just keeps reminding her that the patient will surely die if she doesn't at least try. When she angrily yells back that she can't see, he tells her that she should go about it another way, and orders everyone to turn out their lights. Ben looks at him like he's nuts but this is Richard and his amazing Yoda-like powers, and he just tells Cristina to stop and listen for the source. She does, and then is able to find the leak and get to fixing it. Ben marvels at Richard's mad motivation skillz while Cristina gets to work.

Arizona calls all of the doctors together and as they smile maniacally, she explains that as the ventilators lose power they will calmly go and manually bag the babies instead. Derek then shows up with Fetus, and Alex congratulates him and goes to examine the newest Shepherd. The first vent dies, so Princess deftly walks over and bags the baby, calm, cool and collected. The problem is that more of the low battery lights are flashing on -- seriously, how to they all have exactly the same low levels of juice? Arizona starts to fret but Lauren calms her down, saying they can keep this up all night if need be. Arizona thanks her but as they all begin to calm down a little, one of the dads notices the red light and demands to know if it does in fact mean the battery is about to die. That's usually what the words "low battery" mean, sir. I'm actually judging these parents a little for taking so long to notice.

It's chaos in the hospital lobby as the doctors try to take care of all of the bus patients, but when Bailey shows up she explains that they can't get to the pain meds without the power on. Callie tells her not to worry and asks if she can help instead with some of the disgusting gaping leg wounds that are around, but Bailey can't bring herself to do that and decides that fighting with a locked cabinet is preferable to exposed bone. She stutters that she'll figure out the meds and takes off, with Leah trotting behind her. That poor girl's entire role this night is to look really worried about Bailey's state of mind.

As Owen and Jackson try to free the trapped woman, she asks about her three-year-old daughter, Evie, who she says is wearing conveniently distinctive pink high tops. The guys assure her that she's probably been taken inside, and then continue to try to pry her loose as the fire burns nearby.

Mere realizes that her supposedly simple procedure is taking quite a while and asks Smash about it, and he assures her she's fine but then admits that she won't stop bleeding and that it doesn't seem to be coming from her uterus. Mere then feels something on her hand and when Heather flashes the light over it, they see that her IV is bleeding. Mere suddenly realizes she has something very bad and extra doctorese-sounding, and tells the interns about her tumble down the stairs and how she must have injured her abdomen. The problem is that she was in labor, so she didn't notice any of the normal pain that would have alerted her that something was wrong. Heather runs to get help but Mere tells Smash that there's no time to wait, and he's going to have to open her up. He panics a little but she explains the procedure and orders him not to let her just bleed out on the table. He hesitates some more, she yells some more, and finally he makes a cut accompanied by some extra-gross squishing sounds.

Cristina has finished with Jimmy's surgery and as she and Richard scrub out, she thanks him sincerely for making her a better doctor that evening. She then leaves to go check on Meredith, and Richard is delighted to hear that Little Shepherd is making his way into the world that night. He tells Cristina that he's going to go check on Frank and see why the lights still aren't on. First, though, Ben comes out and tells Richard that now he understands what Bailey means when she says that Richard can pull greatness from people. Richard is the best, no doubt, but this is starting to pile on thicker than Paula Deen buttering a biscuit. Richard, of course, doesn't think he's all that great since he wasn't able to pull the greatness out of Bailey.

And she and Leah still aren't able to pull the meds from the cabinet, despite the fact that they are following the emergency instructions. Heather runs in and tells her that Mere is in bad shape but Bailey just smarms that Mere is perfectly capable of handling her own surgery. She's horrified when Heather clarifies that Mere is the patient, not the surgeon. She stands silent for a moment, as if her brain can't even process any more of what's going on this night, and then turns and calmly picks up a tall metal IV stand. While the girls watch in terror, Bailey loses her shit and begins beating the crap out of the cabinet until it breaks open and pill bottles spill everywhere. The girls both stare as if they don't want to make any sudden moves but when Bailey pulls herself together she orders Leah to gather up the meds while she goes to help Meredith.

As Jackson and Owen hand their patient off to Callie, Jackson catches sight of a pink high-top shoe. April runs outside and asks where Jackson is but no one knows what happened to him. He, meanwhile, has crawled down under the wreckage where he sees Evie sitting silently, presumably too scared to move. Sweetly, he tries to coax her out before everything blows sky high.

Bailey scrubs in and walks in to Mere's OR to the sound of alarms ringing. Smash is panicking because he did everything Mere said but he still can't stop the bleeding. Bailey hesitates for a second and then has the nurse give her a second set of gloves. Then some hopeful music starts to play, so we know that she'll be okay as she tells Smash to move over and reaches in to Mere's innards. Thus starts the dramatic montage portion of the finale.

Cristina finds Connie delivering another baby to find out where Mere is, but Connie has no idea since she figured Mere should have gone to recovery hours earlier.

Bailey finally comes out in the hall and tells them that she removed Mere's spleen, but... at that, she breaks down completely and can't get out words, and Cristina and Derek fear the worst and sprint into the OR. Smash and Heather are there and assure them that Bailey did it, and Mere is going to be fine. Heather rather sweetly gives credit to Smash as well for his role in the surgery. Bailey then comes in, completely emotionally exhausted and embarrassed, and apologizes profusely for scaring them but before she can get all of the words out, a grinning Derek grabs her in a gigantic bear hug and she lets out a huge breath for probably the first time in at least a month.

Richard somehow managed to get help down to the basement, and as they wheel Frank away he manages to tell Richard that he was right and there was air in the fuel system. He apologizes but Richard cuts him off and apologizes for yelling at him and giving him the heart attack in the first place. But Frank assures him that he was right, and that everything is set and he just needs to flip the transfer switch to turn the lights back on. Poor Richard, unable to see his own Jedi greatness that everyone else can see. Rather obviously, there are a lot of flickering lights, and sloshing and sizzling sounds as Frank is wheeled away.

Alex is still watching Princess with all of his Feelings written all over his face when Arizona comes up and says that Princess did a great job and she's sure it's because Alex was such a good teacher and he should take some credit for that and not just for making his ladies crazy. Lauren then walks up and reports that her baby is doing great before asking if they can talk. Arizona doesn't really want to, and will only say that she made a mistake. Lauren doesn't want to leave things the way they are and tells Arizona with a sexy smile that she likes her a lot, and if she changes her mind... poor Arizona just looks like she's going to barf all over Lauren in response. Callie then walks in to say hello and as she does, the lights turn back on and everyone cheers. Unfortunately, once the lights are on she can see that Lauren has Arizona's wedding ring pinned to her scrub top. Lauren rather smoothly makes up a story involving projectile vomit and Arizona lending her a shirt as she hands the ring back over but Arizona doesn't even try to play along, and all of the color drains from Callie's face.

Princess is gazing out the window and she and Alex make small talk about the ruined living room before he tries to pick up their conversation again. She tries to get him to stop and tells him she's pretty sure she knows what he's going to say. She then begins her own pitiful explanation that she ruins everything good in her life, and they make great friends and she doesn't want to mess that up blah blah self-pity cakes drizzled with martyr sauce. If these two had a woe-is-me-off I'm not sure who would emerge as the most pathetic victor. Alex just reminds her that before the tree so rudely destroyed the house, she actually asked him a question about his feelings so now he's going to say the words. Awkwardly, though, he can only open and shut his mouth like a hungry fish, and she again tries to stop him. Finally, he manages to blurt out that he loves her, and the two start joyously making out. I'm not sad to have four months ahead where I don't have to think about this union.

Jackson and his marvelous abs are sitting up in bed when the curtain surrounding him is ripped back and April walks in. He's rightfully terrified that she's going to start beating him up again but this time she just tells him meekly, "I want you." He gapes at her as she repeats it and then admits that she hasn't been fair to him, and she hurt him... Jackson points out the other little matter which is that she's getting married to another man. But she got so scared when she thought he died in the exploding bus that her feelings suddenly were clarified. Jackson repeats once more that she's getting married but in a little sad voice she counters, "Unless you can give me a reason not to?" He just furrows his brow, looking as if he can't even wrap his mind around this when he just nearly exploded.

Cristina finds Owen in an on-call room and as he gets himself dressed he asks about Fetus and suggests happily that they go visit Mere together. Cristina just gazes at him though, and finally asks if he knows how much she loves him. He smiles and says that he does, not having a clue yet about where this is going. She then sits down and tells him about her amazing experience during surgery and adds that she feels pure joy every time she's in an OR doing any type of procedure. She then asks if he feels that same pure joy and contentment with just her. He's confused, so she goes on to remind him of his feelings for Ethan. He finally gets what's going on and protests but she orders him to really listen to his heart and to ask himself if she'll really be enough for him. She's got tears in her eyes and finally he pauses and turns away from her. She tells him sadly that she wishes it were different, and then leaves. And he calls after her, but he doesn't actually get up and go after her as she walks away.

We catch up with Callie and Arizona mid-fight, with Callie sobbing that she thought they were finally okay after getting past all of the crap. She sobs, asking how Arizona could do this to her and after all they have survived together: the hospital bankruptcy, losing Mark, and the plane crash. Finally, Arizona loses her cool and screams at Callie that she wasn't on the plane. Callie is stricken as Arizona reminds her that she wasn't stuck in the woods hearing the others cry and scream in pain but she keeps acting like she was. This is something that definitely was tickling at me all season but I guess I never quite crystallized it in my mind until I watched this scene, especially because Callie did go through a lot of terrible crap herself in losing Mark and everything that happened with Arizona. But... it's true, she wasn't there and that's a special type of horrific experience that can never be fully understood by someone who wasn't there. But then. BUT THEN. Arizona screams at her, saying if she really wants the street cred then she can just stick out her own leg and Arizona will hack it off for her. Arizona breaks down while Callie, totally betrayed, can't believe that once again it comes back to the leg. Finally, when Arizona yells that she trusted Callie, Callie yells back that she did it, "TO SAVE YOUR LIFE!" Because SERIOUSLY. Thank goodness this is the last episode of the season because SERIOUSLY, it was LEG OR DEATH. But Arizona yells that Callie didn't lose anything, Arizona did. Callie just responds sadly that apparently she lost Arizona. Look, I know that Shonda is really proud to show a lesbian couple have real issues, and I think that's wonderful and important rather than showing a same-sex couple just be happy and lovey and not have to deal with problems such as infidelity. But the issue here is that I just don't believe THIS problem. I get that Arizona has PTSD and amputation is a huge thing to deal with. But to once again come back to this ridiculous fight, where Callie saved her wife's life and Arizona feels betrayed by that... it's bullshit.

Mere starts to VO about the end of the storm and we see the Shepherd family all gathered in Mere's room, happy and in love. Mere then tells Derek her new baby name idea: Bailey. From the hallway Cristina sees them and smiles, but then decides to leave them be for now. Mere seems to sense that she was there, but lets her go as she enjoys her expanded family, knowing Cristina needs some time to digest what she's going through.

Ben sees Bailey and stops her, telling her how proud he is about what she did. She smiles happily but keeps walking until he finally manages to get her to stop for a moment and talk to him. She feels wretched about what she said to Richard and wants to go apologize. She admits to Ben that when he tried to help, she called him a drunk, and suddenly Ben really understands everything that has been going on. Bailey's sick for turning on her mentor and while Ben tells her he thinks Richard knows her better than she thinks, he admits she might owe him an apology. Bailey replies desperately that she in fact owes him everything.

But we don't know if Richard will ever hear that apology because in the basement, some power lines are still sparking while Richard lies unconscious -- and possibly dead -- in a pool of water with his whole lab coat singed and smoking. So he might have turned the hospital lights back on WITH HIS LIFE.
