Previously on Felicity: Felicity graduated. It featured quite a bit of her walking in slow motion, which is oddly appropriate. Felicity told Ben that she couldn't go to Arizona with him, because she had been following him for four years, and it was his turn now. Felicity asked Noel if he ever thought about what might have been with them. Ben showed up in California, and he and Felicity ended up together in the end.
Felicity cautiously sits down on the floor to a bed and hits the record button on her tape player. She begins, "Dear Sally. It's me. Felicity. I know it's been a while, but something's happened, and I think you're the only one I can talk to about it, because people I've told think I'm insane. You probably will, too. First of all, I'm in my old college room, which is so weird. And if I told you how I got here, you wouldn't believe me, so let me go back. I'll start with the saddest, most important thing: Elena's funeral."
What? After the crappy treatment of Elena in the last four episodes, now they've killed her off. The writers hate Tangi Miller. That's the only explanation. The cameras pan up to reveal a cemetery, with a group of people gathered around a gravesite. Natalie Merchant sings as Felicity voice-overs that it was six months ago, and Elena got in a car accident near Columbia University. The camera pans across the faces of Elena's friends: Richard, Sean, Meghan, Noel, Javier, Felicity, and Ben. Only Felicity looks very upset about the whole thing. Sean looks like he's late for a meeting. Felicity at least looks like she's been crying. I know everyone grieves in his or her own way, but this seems a little extreme. FVO says, "The idea that one of us was gone, that you can lose someone you love so much -- it changed everything." As Felicity and Noel walk away, Felicity says that she's going to miss Elena so much. Noel says that it seems like they should do something. Felicity asks what he means. Noel explains that it feels like everything could disappear. FVO says that wasn't what she was feeling, because instead of holding on, she pulled away. What I didn't get the first time that I watched this was that Noel was thinking that the whole group should do something together, and really show each other how much they care, because you never know when you will lose someone. That wasn't clear to me from his one line.
Fade to a library at Stanford as FVO says, "Actually, I think I became pretty hard to live with." Felicity studies while Ben sits there, restless. FVO ominously says, "That's where all our trouble began." Ben turns to Felicity and suggests that they go do something. Felicity asks what he wants to do. Ben suggests that they go outside, because it's such a nice day. Felicity dismissively tells him to go, because she wants to finish her work. Ben nods and says, "Okay," disappointed. He picks up his bag and goes. Felicity gets right back to her work, not noticing Ben's dissatisfaction.
FVO continues, "It was around that time that Claire showed up." You can tell by the way that she says "Claire" that this is not good news. Ben, Felicity, and Claire walk down a sidewalk. Claire is a tall blonde who looks a little bit like Iben Hjejle (Laura in High Fidelity). Felicity explains that Claire was a student there, too, and had even been a student at UNY, but that they had never met while in New York. Felicity adds that Ben and Claire had some classes together in New York, but that they had never met. I feel like that's going to be important in the future, so I wanted to make sure I mentioned it here. FVO says that it was the three of them studying and hanging out, and then it became just Ben and Claire. Ben and Claire walk ahead of Felicity, talking and laughing. Felicity follows along, her hair a mess, looking upset.
FVO continues, "I remember it so vividly, because it was the day I got the invitation to Noel's wedding." Felicity runs along a path on campus with a big smile on her face, the invitation in hand. FVO says, "I went to go show Ben." Felicity walks into the library, happily looking around for Ben. FVO says, "And that's when I found them together." Felicity's face falls. The camera shows us what she sees -- Ben and Claire kissing. Felicity stares at them. Ben and Claire part. Claire is all giggly. Why would they be making out in public when their relationship is supposed to be secret? That's kind of dumb. It would have made more sense if Felicity had found them in Ben's apartment. Or Claire's apartment. I guess they didn't have the budget to build that set. Ben looks out and sees Felicity watching them. Felicity looks stunned, and walks away. FVO says, "Needless to say, we broke up."
Meghan talks to Felicity on the phone, expressing her indignation over what Ben did. Felicity is on a pay phone on campus, sobbing, saying that she doesn't know what to do. Meghan advises her to come to New York immediately. Felicity doesn't want to go to Noel's wedding when she's such a mess. And I know the storyline dictates it, but you usually get a wedding invitation with a little more advance notice. Meghan tells Felicity that she can do it. Felicity nods. FVO says that she remembers how shocking Meghan seemed when they first met, but that "the most shocking thing about her is what an amazing friend she is." Especially since Elena is dead. DEAD! I'm still not over that. Felicity arrives in New York and is greeted by Meghan. She asks Meghan not to tell anyone about her problems with Ben, because it's Noel's wedding and she doesn't want to ruin it. Meghan agrees.
Felicity walks into the loft, where Sean and Javier are waiting to greet her with hugs. Javier says that he looks at Felicity's picture on her "Employee of the Month" plaque every day, but that she's a lot better-looking in person. Meghan points to something on the table and disgustedly asks what it is. Sean says that it's a party favor for the wedding. Meghan asks why Sean is in the background. Sean says that it's the best picture of Noel and Zoe he could find. He holds up a shirt with a heart on it, with Noel and Zoe's picture inside the heart, and then a picture of Sean looming in the background. It's awful. And yet, hilarious. Meghan looks at Sean reproachfully. Meanwhile, Javier is asking Felicity where "the love of [her] life" is. Felicity hesitates, and Meghan quickly supplies, "He has exams." Sean can't believe Ben isn't coming. Javier says that it's Noel's wedding, and that Ben has to come. Meghan says, "Who cares? They hate each other anyway. God!" Felicity just looks uncomfortable and kind of sick.
Felicity unpacks in what I assume is Ben's old room. Noel knocks at the door and asks if he can come in. Felicity says yes, and comments that she doesn't know why she brought so much stuff with her. Noel sits on the bed and stares at her. Felicity asks if he's okay. Noel says that he can't believe that he's getting married ["again" -- Wing Chun], and that he feels like throwing up. Felicity smiles and tells him that he's just nervous. Noel says that he is definitely nervous, and tells Felicity to feel his hands. She does, and laughs. Felicity assures Noel that it's perfectly normal to feel nervous, but that he and Zoe make a great couple. She reminds him how nervous Elena was. I don't really know how long it's been since Elena's death -- a few months? Neither of them seems all that sad about remembering Elena. ["Plus given that Elena didn't actually get married, it's not so reassuring." -- Wing Chun] Noel thinks for a minute and then says that he misses talking to Felicity. Felicity smiles and says that she misses it, too. Noel thinks for a while and then asks if she remembers, at the end of college, when he took her to the airport, and she asked if he ever thought about them. Felicity replies, "Yeah! And you said, 'Never.'" Noel says that he was obviously lying, and that he wonders it all the time. They laugh. Noel says that, actually, he thought someday it would be him and Felicity doing what he and Zoe are doing. Awkward pause. Felicity says, "Tomorrow." Noel realizes that it sounded like he was hitting on her, and Felicity assures him that she knew what he meant. Noel walks to the door, then turns and says that while Zoe is great, it's just weird how sometimes things don't work out the way you thought they would. Felicity agrees. Noel smiles and walks out. FVO says, "And that's when I started thinking -- and probably unfairly, since he was just about to get married -- that maybe I made a mistake. Maybe it was Noel I should have been with all along." And...credits. Oh my God. All that was before the credits? I'm in big trouble.
FVO continues, "So, Sally, here's where it gets weird. You know how I told you Meghan does spells?" Felicity walks out into the kitchen and finds Meghan combining a bunch of stuff into a pot on the stove. Meghan says that she's putting a hex on Ben, because she can do much more powerful spells now that she got "this new kick-ass book." Felicity reads the title, Mystical Incantations Part Two. Meghan says it's so mystical that there isn't even a part one, and that it just came out. Also, the author, Korsakoff, is a genius. Felicity asks what the spell will do to Ben. Meghan says that it's a tripping spell, but she can't decide whether she wants Ben to trip down a flight of stairs or over a curb. Felicity says, "I guess I don't really want him to trip down a flight of stairs." Meghan replies, "Curb it is." Meghan stops and asks Felicity if she's sure that she's not going to get back together with Ben. Felicity says she's sure. Meghan asks, "Even when he comes here groveling for forgiveness." Felicity says, "We are finished." Meghan asks Felicity if she's an Aries, and Felicity says that she's a Scorpio. Meghan thinks that's even better, and she reaches over and plucks some hair from Felicity's head. Ouch! Felicity agrees with my assessment of the situation. Meghan puts the hair into her potion and then says that Ben just tripped.
FVO says that the night before Noel's wedding, they all got together to celebrate, and "it was excruciating." Felicity, Sean, Meghan, Richard, Javier, Noel, and Zoe sit around a table in a restaurant. Wouldn't Noel's and Zoe's families be there? Richard stands up to give a toast. Richard says that Noel is giving up the single life and leaving Richard on his own. He loves Noel so much. Richard starts crying, and everyone looks ill at ease. Richard tries to gather himself together, and Javier asks if anyone else is uncomfortable. Yes! I am! Me! Right here! Richard continues, "I guess I just never thought the day would come. I always thought that Noel would carry around his torch for Felicity forever." Yikes. This is like the wedding I went to where the best man gave a toast and said that he hoped all of the couple's ups and downs would be between the sheets. Inappropriate. Meghan groans. Richard says that Zoe already knows everything. Wrap it up, Richard. He finally concludes, "So I guess I should just let Phil Collins do the talking. Because you two? You got a groovy kind of love." Everyone laughs and toasts.
Sean stands up to give a toast, but instead of hearing what he says, FVO says, "Okay, Sally. I haven't been to many of these dinners in my life, but I know that there's probably one rule that applies to all of them: Unless you're the bride, you shouldn't covet the groom. I think that night, I was definitely breaking that rule." Felicity stares at Noel, and Zoe. Noel looks at her and smiles. Felicity clinks glasses with those around her. Sean says that it's Felicity's turn. She stands and says nervously that she's happy for both of them. She tells Zoe that she's so lucky to have found a great guy like Noel, and tells Noel that he's lucky to have found Zoe. She concludes, "You're just both, just so...." Richard supplies, "Lucky?" Felicity agrees and quickly wishes them both all of the happiness in the world. They all toast.
Behind Felicity, Ben walks in the door. Sean is happy to see him. Javier asks if he finished his exams. Ben looks momentarily confused but manages to cover by agreeing. Ben sits down and apologizes to Noel and Zoe for being late. How did he find out about the wedding, and where they were having dinner? I don't know. Meghan asks Ben what happened to his forehead, because it has a big goose egg. Ben says that he just tripped. Felicity quickly looks at Meghan, who gives her a gesture like, "And you doubted my powers." Ben and Felicity awkwardly sit to each other. Ben leans in and says hello. Felicity asks out of the side of her mouth what he's doing there. Ben says that he wants to talk to her. Felicity asks if they have to do it now, since it's Noel's wedding. Ben says that they can do it later. Zoe leans forward and picks just that time to ask when Ben and Felicity are getting married. Oops. Felicity says that she doesn't know, and Ben adds that they haven't talked about it in a while. Zoe picks up on their reluctance to discuss it and apologetically says that she thought they were engaged. Meghan comments, "Yeah, for, like, a day." Sean, clueless as usual, tells them that they have to get married, because it's the greatest, and every night is like a slumber party. Richard says that if he's going to have a slumber party, it's going to be with a different babe each time. I think Richard is trying a little too hard to make us believe that he loves the ladies. Felicity just drinks some champagne and looks sad.
The group exits the restaurant. Noel tells Zoe that he'll see her tomorrow. Zoe kisses him. Zoe asks Javier to share a cab, and he's delighted to do so. Sean stands outside another cab, and asks Noel if he's coming. Noel says that he's going to walk. Felicity says that she'll walk with him, unless he wants to be alone. Ben walks closer to Felicity and says that he guesses he'll talk to her later. Felicity looks down and quickly says that she guesses so. Ben realizes he has no say in the matter and walks away. Richard asks Noel if they are still going to a strip club. Noel says that they are not. Richard invites Felicity along. Felicity says that if they already have plans, she can get home on her own. Richard keeps urging Noel to go to a strip club, but Noel ends the discussion: "Richard? I'll see you tomorrow." Noel and Felicity walk off together.
Back at the loft, Ben is playing a PS2 game when Felicity and Noel get home. Ben turns and looks at them sadly, and asks how the walk was. Felicity quickly says, "Good." Awkward pause. Noel says he's going to go up on the roof and ponder the end of his single life; he leaves. Ben asks if he and Felicity can talk. Felicity agrees, but doesn't know what there is to talk about. Ben walks over to her and apologizes. He says that what happened was a mistake, and stupid. He explains that he was reacting to what was going on with him and Felicity, and that it didn't mean anything. Felicity says it didn't look that way to her. Ben says that he knows that he made a mistake, but that he talked to Claire and told her that they couldn't see each other anymore. Felicity looks shocked and asks, "Anymore?" Ben says that she knows what he means. Felicity says that she doesn't, and asks if it was an ongoing thing. Ben doesn't answer. Felicity looks disgusted and asks how long it was going on. Ben says not long. Felicity asks for specific information. Ben whispers, "About a month." Felicity can't believe he was seeing Claire for a month. Ben moves to touch Felicity's shoulder, and Felicity pushes him off and starts crying tears of anger. Ben says that he should probably stay somewhere else tonight, and Felicity agrees. Ben grabs his coat and leaves. Felicity continues crying and shaking her head.
Felicity and Meghan sit on the couch, drinking champagne. Felicity drunkenly says that she thought the thing with Ben and Claire was a one-time thing. Meghan thinks Felicity should have let Meghan send Ben down a flight of stairs. Felicity adds, "After everything that we've been through. You know what I wish? I wish I could go back to that night." After the most recent episode of Buffy, I was half-expecting Meghan to turn into a demon and tell Felicity that her wish was granted. Come on. If there were anyone on the show who was secretly a demon, it would totally be Meghan. Anyway, Meghan looks confused, and Felicity clarifies that she means the night that she slept with Noel, because that was her chance. Meghan asks what Felicity would do differently if she could go back. Felicity sighs and says that she would pick Noel, and she thinks she made a big mistake. Felicity shrugs and says, "Hindsight, you know?" Meghan looks at Felicity devilishly and says that they have something better. She gets up and grabs her spell book, and says that they have Korsakoff. Felicity doesn't think a spell will fix this. Meghan reminds her about Ben's fall, and starts leafing through the book until she finds a spell to send someone backwards in time. Felicity says that she needs to go lie down before she passes out. Meghan starts reading the spell and gets up to find the ingredients.
Later, Meghan bursts into the room where Felicity is lying on a bed, fully clothed and out of it. Meghan walks over and grabs some hair from Felicity's head again. And again, ow. Meghan says that it's for the spell, and walks back out of the room. Felicity lies on the bed and looks like she might throw up. The music is all wacky. She finally falls asleep. While she sleeps, a breeze blows through her hair and the light changes to a more washed-out, sepia-like tone. The light remains this way for the rest of the episode. Felicity wakes up. She is shocked to see Noel lying to her, asleep. She looks around, and sits up quickly. She's on the roof. She's naked. Her hair is curly. She covers herself with a shirt and wakes Noel up to ask him what happened. Noel says that he doesn't know, but he guesses that they fell asleep. Felicity asks how they got up there. Noel explains that he was there, and then she joined him. Felicity asks if they.... Noel says that they did. Felicity stands up. Noel wonders what her problem is. Felicity starts freaking out and says that it's the night before his wedding. Noel doesn't know what she's talking about. Felicity gets dressed and says that she doesn't even remember coming up there, and she must have blacked out. Noel pulls his clothes on and asks Felicity if she's okay, and if she took drugs or something. Felicity says that she and Meghan were drinking. She looks down at her dress and says that it's not what she was wearing. Noel tells her to relax. Felicity asks, "What if Zoe finds us?" She runs off, and Noel calls after her, "Who's Zoe?"
Felicity exits the elevator and tiptoes back into the loft, just like in the second episode of the season. FVO says, "Sally, I didn't know if I was going insane, or if this was a dream. To be honest, I still don't." Felicity walks over and finds her bag, then looks confused. Ben walks in carrying a pizza and a basketball. Shouldn't Scott Speedman have a crew cut like he did in the beginning of the season? Bad continuity. Felicity says that she thought he was going to a hotel. Ben is confused, and once he recovers, he apologizes for the incident with the printer, and says that being pre-med has freaked him out. Felicity doesn't know what he's talking about. Ben reminds her of the fight they had, and admits that he was a jerk, but explains that Prof. Snark makes him anxious. Felicity asks if it's a joke, and Ben says again that he's trying to apologize. Noel shows up and lies that he was hanging out on the roof by himself, all alone, not with Felicity at all. Felicity finally realizes that Meghan's spell worked. She says that she needs to go find Meghan, and runs out.
Felicity enters her old dorm. In the hallway, she catches sight of herself in a mirror and notices that her hair is curly again. She runs into Meghan's room, where Meghan is sleeping. Felicity starts babbling that the spell worked. Meghan wonders whether she could do a spell on Felicity to make her shut up. Felicity keeps babbling on and on about the spell and that it took her back to the roof, to the night that she slept with Noel. That gets Meghan's attention. Meghan rolls over, removes her leopard-print sleep mask, and asks, "You slept with Noel?" Felicity repeats that Meghan sent her back in time. Meghan sits up and says, "Okay. That must have been the greatest sex ever, because you've completely lost your mind." Felicity tells Meghan that she came back into town for Noel's wedding. Meghan is more amused than frightened as she tells Felicity that it's "the greatest thing ever" because Felicity has "officially gone insane." Meghan points out the "mammoth hickey" on Felicity's neck.
Behind Felicity, Elena walks into the room and asks what's going on. In this scene, Tangi Miller is definitely not pregnant. So either she never was, or they just filmed it earlier. I don't know. The whole thing is confusing. Meghan announces that Felicity has lost her mind. Felicity looks surprised and happy to see Elena, since Elena's dead and all. Felicity gives Elena a big hug and says that she can't believe Elena is there. Elena is confused. Felicity asks how Elena is. Elena says that she's a wreck because she's getting married in two days and is trying to get some sleep. Felicity says, "That's right! That's right! You were supposed to marry Tracy." in a very Jimmy-Stewart-as-George-Bailey fashion. Elena asks, "'Supposed to'?" Meghan quickly says, "She said it, not me." Elena looks annoyed and starts to leave. Felicity wants her to stay, because she has so much to tell her. Elena says Felicity can tell her tomorrow and walks out. Felicity explains to Meghan, "She's supposed to be dead." Meghan condescends, "Oh? Well, she's engaged. Same thing. You know who's going to be dead? Noel. Ben's going to kill him when he finds out." Felicity says that she should probably tell Ben. Meghan gasps and asks if Felicity wants to be with Noel. Felicity says that she thinks she does, and that's what her being there is all about. Meghan says, "Oh! This is going to be amazing! Senior year is going to be so good!" At first, I thought that Meghan was just really pro-Noel, but after reflection, I think she meant that she's excited about all of the controversy this move will engender.
Felicity lies in bed and stares at the ceiling. FVO says, "Sally, I couldn't sleep at all that night. I mean, who knew where I would wake up? Or when? All I knew was that this was my chance to do it all again. And this time? I was going to do it right." I'm still kind of upset that Felicity wasn't more into Elena. I mean, she dies! Shouldn't Felicity be taking steps to prevent that from happening?
Felicity answers the door to her apartment and lets Noel in. It's very different from the first time around, when Felicity was panicking, and ended up telling Noel that she loves Ben. Noel says that he wanted to come by and see how she was doing, because she was acting kind of crazy last night. Felicity is very chipper throughout. Noel notices the hickey and asks if he did it. Felicity says that he did, but that he shouldn't worry about it. Noel asks what will happen if Ben sees it. Felicity archly says, "What if he does?" Noel explains that Ben will realize that Ben didn't give it to her, and wonder who did. I love Ben, but he's not the most bright or attentive fellow at this point, what with the pre-med distraction and all. Maybe he wouldn't notice. Felicity brightly says that she'll just tell him what happened. Noel doesn't think that's a good idea. Felicity responds matter-of-factly, "I have to. I know what happens if I don't, and it's much worse. It's going to come out anyway." Noel says that he doesn't think Ben will find out. Felicity says, "Trust me." Noel points out that he lives with Ben. Felicity says it's complicated, but that it will be bad between Noel and Ben no matter what, and that telling Ben is really the best course of action. Noel realizes that Felicity is really sure about this. Felicity says that she is. Noel makes her promise to think about it.
Felicity walks to the door of the loft. FVO says, "The truth is, I had no idea what I was going to say to Ben, but I couldn't avoid him forever. I mean, technically, we were still going out." Felicity knocks on the door; Sean answers and tells her that Ben isn't there. He tells Felicity to leave a note, because he has to go see a fortune cookie maker for favors for Elena's wedding. Felicity says, "Maybe it'll actually happen this time." Sean asks what she's talking about, and Felicity realizes that she's said too much. Sean leaves. Felicity starts to leave a note when the phone rings. A woman named Janet starts to leave a message on the machine. Felicity looks up sharply, pissed off. When the message concludes, she sighs and shakes her head as if to say, "I can't believe I bought this the first time around." She crumples up her note and walks out of the loft. The captioning gives us another FVO, but we don't actually hear it. In case you were wondering, Felicity was supposed to say, "Sally, when I heard that message again, it hit me. Janet, Claire, Lauren, Avery...I mean, this pattern went back a long time. So when I found Ben, I wasn't just angry. I was through." I like to think that Keri Russell is such a good actress that they decided that the voice-over wasn't necessary to convey the message.
Felicity walks into Epstein Bar and finds Ben sitting at a table. He smiles and waves to her. Aw, he has no idea what's about to happen. He stands up to give her a hug or kiss, but Felicity blows right by him and sits down. Before Ben can even sit back down, Felicity blurts, "I slept with Noel." Ben stares at her and says, "What?" Felicity repeats, "I slept with him. And you know, I felt guilty about it forever, but the thing is, I don't anymore, because I was upset and I was lonely and I needed someone to be there for me, and he was, and you weren't." Ben doesn't understand. Felicity says that it's all pretty clear. Ben asks why she's doing this. Felicity says, "I'll tell you why: Claire." Ben asks who Claire is. Felicity throws out the name Janet. Ben says that Janet is just a friend. Felicity says that she doesn't even believe that nothing happened at the motel anymore. Ben says that he doesn't even understand half of what she's talking about. Felicity says that she knows he doesn't, but she does. Ben asks when the thing with Noel happened. Felicity admits that it happened last night. Ben looks hurt and asks if she's serious. Felicity is. Ben sadly asks if she wants to be with Noel now. Felicity says she does. Ben looks upset and says that it's kind of crazy. Felicity softens a bit and apologizes, but tells him that it's for the best. Ben doesn't understand how that could be true. Felicity starts to cry and asks herself why she's getting upset, and then yells at Ben that he broke her heart. Ben asks how he broke her heart. Felicity says that he wouldn't understand, and apologizes again. Ben looks disappointed and troubled, and asks if she really wants to break up. Felicity thinks that they should. Ben says that he should probably go then, and gives her one last look before walking away in slow motion. Felicity watches him leave. FVO says, "Sally, I knew this was what I wanted -- that it was the right thing to do. But watching him walk away like that, I just had to keep reminding myself: Claire, Claire, Claire."
Noel is typing away on his laptop in the loft when he hears a knock at the door. He opens the door to find Felicity, who says that she told Ben about them. Noel says that he thought Felicity was going to think about it. Felicity walks past him into the loft and says that she did think about it, and she realized that she had to tell Ben so that she and Noel could have a chance. Noel is confused. Felicity says that she thinks they should try to have a relationship. Noel needs to sit down. He says that Felicity is "going through a lot of stuff right now, and that's understandable." He brings up her future. Felicity quickly says that her future is under control, and that she's going to be pre-med. Noel asks about her art. Felicity tells him to forget art, because now she knows what she wants. Noel swallows and says it's great that she knows what she wants, but that he's still trying to figure out what he wants. Felicity promises that he will, but that they need a chance to be together. Noel points out that, only two days ago, Ben was all that she could talk about. Felicity promises that she's over Ben. Noel has a hard time believing that. Felicity clears her throat and says seriously that she knows, in the past, when she's had to choose between the two men, she's always chosen Ben. But now she realizes that it was a mistake. She tells Noel that being with him feels right, and asks what he thinks. Noel asks carefully if she really wants to do this. Felicity responds, "Don't you?" Noel pauses and then smiles and says yes. Aw. That was the cutest little grin I've ever seen on Scott Foley's face. Noel asks what happens now. Felicity suggests that they start slowly by going to dinner that night. Noel agrees, and then says that they can't, due to Elena and Tracy's rehearsal dinner. Noel suggests that they go get coffee beforehand. Felicity grins and agrees. She stands up to leave, and Noel awkwardly kisses her on the cheek. Felicity kind of nods, like, "Okay. Taken care of." She leaves. Noel looks around as if he can't quite believe what just happened.
Felicity shows up late for work at Dean & Deluca. Javier says that he needs to go find a place for the rehearsal dinner that night, and takes off. Felicity runs into the break room to put her bag in her locker, and Ben is sitting in there. Felicity punches in and says she's going to head out front. Ben asks if they can talk. Felicity doesn't say anything, so Ben whispers, "I don't want to break up." He continues, "I'm not excusing what you did. I'm not. But you're right. I haven't been there for you. I was away all summer, and when I got back, I wasn't around when your dad was here." Felicity says that's not the problem. Ben says that he's sorry if he broke her heart, because it's the last thing that he ever wanted to do. Ben says that they might be able to get past it if she wants to. Felicity shakes her head and gently says that she doesn't think they can. Ben says that he has to go, and walks out. As Felicity watches Ben walk away, FVO says, "I don't know if this is the real world or not, but it feels real. I mean, it hurts. A lot."
Yay! The return of Dr. Pavone! Dr. Pavone tells Felicity that of course it hurts to break up with Ben. Felicity thought it would be easier. Dr. Pavone thinks that was unrealistic. Felicity says that she knew what would happen. Dr. Pavone asks what she means. Felicity says that Ben is not the right one for her. Dr. Pavone asks, "And Noel is?" Felicity says, "Oh my God! I can't believe this! You were the one who was saying, 'Look in the drawer. Look in the drawer.' Noel is in the drawer! I know that now!" Dr. Pavone says, "I don't know where you're getting this drawer thing, but I like it." Heh. Felicity says that she wants to make sure that she's doing the right thing. Dr. Pavone says that it's more important to do what Felicity wants, and asks what she wants. Felicity firmly says that she wants to be with Noel, but that she wishes that she didn't have to hurt Ben so much. Dr. Pavone tells her, not unkindly, that it's unrealistic.
Felicity and Noel have coffee together. Felicity starts babbling that they should go away for a weekend together. Noel looks away quickly; Felicity backtracks that it doesn't have to be any time soon, and asks what he thinks. Noel considers it and then says, "I don't think this is a good idea." Felicity says that there's no rush. Noel explains that he's talking about their relationship. Felicity is stunned and says that she doesn't understand. Noel explains that when she told him that she wanted to give them a chance, it was incredible, because he's waited a long time to have that conversation, but that it doesn't feel right. It seems too fast to Noel. Felicity says that's how things happen sometimes. Noel says that he's trying to keep his head together, and that he doesn't even have a job. Felicity assures him that he will, and that everything will be fine. Noel notes that she keeps saying that, and that he loves her confidence in him, but he doesn't know that everything will be fine. Noel thinks that they are both going through a lot and will need each other. Felicity interjects, "Exactly!" Noel adds, "As friends." Noel is afraid that getting together might destroy their friendship, and he's not willing to take that chance. Felicity slowly says, "So, you're saying that you just want to stay friends?" Noel thinks that's best. Felicity looks utterly destroyed.
Felicity and Noel head for the loft to attend Tracy and Elena's rehearsal dinner. Noel asks if it's going to be awkward, and Felicity says that it will. They walk in to find Javier, Richard, and Meghan standing there looking angry. Felicity asks what's going on. Meghan says that the question is what isn't going on. Richard (who should have much shorter hair) says angrily that he hopes that Felicity and Noel are happy. Noel asks what they're talking about and asks where Elena and Tracy are. Richard says that the wedding is off, thanks to Felicity. Javier moans about all of the work that was done on the dress. Felicity asks anxiously what happened. Meghan says that Elena and Tracy had a fight, and Richard adds, "Over you?" Felicity and Noel both say, "What?" Meghan explains that Elena was defending Felicity's decision to cheat, and Tracy was upset, and Elena "came to her senses and called the whole thing off." Felicity asks if Elena is okay, and Richard says that she'll bounce back because "that Tyler's one tough broad." Sean walks into the room and says, "Man, is he wasted." Felicity asks if he's talking about Ben. Sean didn't realize Felicity was there, but says yes. Felicity says she's going to go talk to him. Richard comments, "Add that final twist of the knife." Noel tells Richard to shut up.
Felicity peeks into Ben's bedroom, where he is lying in bed. Felicity asks if she can get anything. Ben moans and says that she can't. Felicity walks further into the room and closes the door behind her. She apologizes for everything that happened. Ben says that he can't do this. Felicity starts to explain that she and Noel aren't even together. Ben interrupts to tell her that he failed a test today, a test that he studied for. Felicity walks closer and says intensely that Ben can do it, and she knows that for a fact, and that he can't give up. Ben says that he can't, and rolls over to face the wall. Felicity walks out, but looks back to see Ben lying there in the dark, defeated.
Felicity pulls Meghan into the bathroom and says, "This is a nightmare. I have to get out of here." Meghan thinks that Felicity wants to leave the loft, but Felicity explains that she wants to go back to the way that things were. Felicity begs Meghan to undo the spell. Felicity says that everything is getting screwed up, because Ben won't be a doctor and Elena and Tracy aren't getting married. Felicity realizes that Meghan won't be marrying Sean. Felicity explains that when Elena and Tracy don't get married, Meghan proposes to Sean. Meghan thinks there's a fat chance of that happening. Felicity says that it worked out really well, and that Meghan has to find the book of spells because it changes everything. Felicity begs, "Please! Help me!" Meghan agrees to help. Felicity thanks her profusely, and Meghan tells Felicity to "stop wigging out."
Meghan searches for the book online while Felicity scans the bookshelves in the loft. Meghan asks if Felicity is sure that she has the right name. Felicity is sure that it's Korsakoff, because Meghan said it "like a million times." Meghan isn't finding anything. Felicity says that she just realized something. Meghan says, "Let me guess. You didn't travel back in time?" Felicity says, "If the book is from the future, maybe it hasn't been published yet. Maybe it hasn't even been written yet." Felicity frets that she's going to be stuck in the past forever. Meghan asks if Felicity is sure that she's okay, and suggests that she talk to a shrink. Felicity gets upset and says tightly that she thought it was the book, but that she's just been feeling weird lately, and probably has the flu. Felicity thinks she might feel better tomorrow. She walks out.
And we're back to the opening segment, with Felicity sitting to the bed, making a tape for Sally. But when she gets to the part about people thinking she's insane, Noel interrupts. But...but...she said so much more after that. Time travel confuses me. Noel is surprised to see that Felicity still makes tapes. Felicity thinks it's kind of stupid. Noel thinks it's nice that she has someone to talk to. Felicity agrees. Awkward pause. Noel comes in and sits down on the bed. Felicity sits to him. Awkward pause. Noel wanted to make sure that Felicity is okay. Felicity says that she's fine, and then asks if she's really made a mess out of things. Noel tells her that she didn't do it alone. Felicity says that she did. Noel tells her that she didn't, and then admits that he only broke things off with her because he's petrified and doesn't want to lose her as a friend. Felicity promises that he won't, ever. Noel smiles and leans over and kisses her. Felicity stares at him and asks what it means. Noel agrees that they are a couple. Felicity leans over and kisses him, and they fall back onto the bed.
