The Graduate

Previously on Felicity: Meghan didn't think that Felicity should admit that she plagiarized her thesis, because then Felicity might not graduate. Ben got into a car accident with Lauren, who was driving drunk. Lauren took off in the middle of the night, leaving a note saying that she would call when she got settled. Ben turned out to be okay.

Felicity and Noel sit in a cab. Noel asks Felicity if she's okay. Felicity thinks for a second and then says that she is. Noel looks at her warmly. Felicity stares out the rain-streaked window. Felicity voice-overs, "This isn't the way this was supposed to end. But you know that. At least, I know you used to." It isn't clear if Felicity is making a tape to Sally or someone else, yet.

Fade into Felicity and Ben, earlier, rolling around on the bed and giggling. Ben gently pushes Felicity off of him and asks her to tell him what happened. Felicity says that it was surreal; that Carnes called Felicity into her office, and Felicity thought she was going to get "a whole talk," but instead, Carnes just said, "Happy graduation." Ben asks if Felicity passed. Felicity says that she failed the paper but passed the class, and she can't believe it. Before you get all heated up that the plagiarism storyline was unrealistic and resolved too soon, consider this: I am a professor, and I caught a student plagiarizing about a year ago. I had the option to fail him for the paper or fail him for the course, and I decided to do the former after talking it over with him. So it happens. And second, I was a little annoyed at first that the whole plagiarism thing was resolved so quickly, but then I thought about my complaints of late that the series is almost over, and they've been wasting time on stupid inconsequential storylines. I'd rather they spent more time resolving four-year storyline relationships in this episode than giving the plagiarism thing even more screen time. So, that's me. Maybe you disagree.

Anyway, Felicity and Ben talk about the fact that they are both graduating. I'm not sure exactly how Ben is graduating too, but I'm just going to let it go. Ben smiles and asks how graduation happened so fast. Felicity doesn't know, and thinks it's "weird, and amazing," and says that it's like her safety net is suddenly gone. Felicity feels like college kept them all together, and they won't have that anymore. Ben says that he's been thinking about something. Felicity asks what, and Ben demurs, and then says that he's just been thinking about graduation. Felicity asks what he was really going to say, and Ben looks into her eyes and says, "Have you ever thought about marrying me?" Felicity doesn't say anything. Ben says that he can't stop thinking about it, and he's been thinking about it since he was in the hospital. Felicity asks if he's serious, and Ben says that he is. Felicity says, "Like, married?" Ben says, "Married." This is very reminiscent of Sixteen Candles all of a sudden. Felicity still hasn't answered. Ben says he guesses he should really ask her, so he says very seriously, "Felicity, will you marry me?" Felicity gasps and says she doesn't know what to say. Ben notes that she's crying, and says, "That's more of a yes than a no, isn't it?" Felicity says, "It's more of a yes." They make out. Thank you, writers, for giving us Felicity and Ben fans one more happy bed scene before the series ends.

Felicity and Ben are sleeping in bed, all snuggled up. The phone rings. Ben rolls over and answers it. We only hear his end of the conversation, so we don't really know what's going on. Felicity asks, "What's going on?" Ben turns on the light and scrambles for a pen and paper. He writes a number down and tells the person on the other end that he'll be there as fast as he can. Felicity asks who it was. Ben explains that it was Lauren's sister, that Lauren's in Philadelphia, and she's also in labor. Felicity asks if he's going to go. Ben says he probably should. Felicity says that he probably has to. Ben agrees. Felicity offers to go. Ben says that he wants her to, but he should probably do this on his own, and he'll take the train. He kisses her. Felicity asks if he's going to be back for graduation, and Ben says that he will. They kiss some more. Ben asks, "Hey, what happened before, are we...?" Felicity says, "We're engaged." Ben kisses Felicity all over her face until she giggles, and then gets out of bed. Can I just say that if Keri Russell and Scott Speedman are not together in real life, they are the two best actors in the world? Ben leaves the room and turns the light back off. Felicity rolls over and appears deep in thought.

Sean and Noel are brainstorming ideas at Webb Graphics when Mr. Webb walks in and totally harshes their buzz. Mr. Webb announces that they lost CGG Group as a client, because they are cutting back. Mr. Webb says that the economy is killing everybody. Noel and Sean try to think of a way to make this into a positive, but Mr. Webb says that everyone is cutting back. He launches into a speech about how, after "a few bumps in the road," Noel and Sean's work has been outstanding, but he can no longer afford them. Sean says that he and Noel can do anything. Mr. Webb apologizes and leaves the room.

Noel and Sean walk down the street, carrying boxes filled with their office stuff. Sean's box has a chicken in it. Heh. Noel tries to be positive, saying that they have contacts and experience. Sean says that the team is staying together. Noel agrees, saying that they don't abandon the team. Sean tells Noel to put his box down, and demands that Noel bump his fist. Sean stands there, fist extended. Noel doesn't want to, and tells Sean to "put that guy away." Sean says, "This guy is not going anywhere until you give me a knock of defiance." Noel looks around and then gives Sean a fist bump. Sean tells Noel to stay positive. Seriously, I think that Scott Foley should join Greg Grunberg on Alias because those two work so well together. But maybe Scott Foley doesn't want to be on his wife's show. So J. J. Abrams should create a new show starring those two. They are great together. Also, Scott Foley directed this episode, and so far, he's done a great job.

Felicity sits in Epstein Bar, having a meal with her parents. Her mom asks where Ben is, and Felicity stumbles around before settling on, "He's just busy." Mr. Porter asks what Felicity's plans are. Her mom tries to let Felicity off the hook, but Felicity says that it's fine because she actually has a plan. Heh. My plan after graduation was to get an apartment with my friends and look for a job. You heard me. I didn't have any kind of job prospects when I graduated. Two months later, my plan was to move back in with my parents and sell all of my CDs to a used record store for gas money, because I was broke like a joke. Felicity says that she was thinking of coming home for the summer. Her father is pleased. Felicity continues, saying that during the summer, she will prepare to move back to New York with Ben. Mr. Porter looks disappointed, and says, "Isn't four years of following Ben Covington around enough?" Felicity says that isn't fair, because she has a job. Her father can't believe that she's really going to do that architecture job. Felicity says that she might. Mr. Porter says that today might be a good time to figure out what she's going to do. I really hate Mr. Porter. Mrs. Porter (I guess -- the credits listed her as Barbara Gordon, but I don't think that's her maiden name, and I thought she took her maiden name back after the divorce, but whatever) says that everything will turn out fine. Mr. Porter thinks his ex-wife is trying to "put a band-aid on this." They start arguing until Felicity tells her father that what he said was "just mean." Here's what I don't get. They are not supporting Felicity financially any more, right? So why do they get any say in the way that she lives her life? I mean, yes, she loves them and all, but her father acts like he can still order her around like a five-year-old instead of acknowledging that she's an adult and needs to make her own mistakes. Hate him. Felicity says that she knows her father thinks she's throwing her life away to be with Ben. Mrs. Porter says that she's not throwing her life away at the exact same time that Mr. Porter says that she is throwing it away. Heh. Felicity drops the bomb: "We're engaged. So, Ben is gonna be in my life, and he's gonna be in my life forever. So, you should get used to that." An awkward silence descends upon the table. Where do you go from there?

Felicity walks into the loft and finds Noel sitting at the table. Felicity grabs a box of cereal and sits down, eating. Noel watches her, and then asks if she's okay, admitting that he knows that Ben went to Philadelphia. Felicity starts to say something, stops herself, thinks for a minute, starts again, stops, and then finally decides to just come out with it: "Ben and I...we're engaged." Noel looks stunned and upset, and just says, "Wow." Felicity's brilliant response: "Yeah." Noel manages to recover, and seems to be sincere when he tells Felicity that it's great. Felicity thanks him and says that her parents don't think it's great. Noel says that "historically, [her] parents have been overbearing, controlling, crazy people." Remember the first time that Noel met the Porters and he called them overbearing? That's a nice shout-out to longtime fans, and it's the first of many in this episode. Felicity laughs and agrees. Noel adds that she's in love with Ben, and while it would be easier if they were more supportive, being with Ben is what she wants, and to him, that all makes sense. Felicity shakes her head and tells Noel that he's the greatest. Noel puts his head down, probably thinking about how Felicity wouldn't say that if he voiced his true feelings, and congratulates her again.

Ben walks in, interrupting the nice moment. He seems very subdued. Felicity gives him a big hug and asks how it went. Ben says that it was good, but it's hard to explain. He seems very preoccupied. Noel says congratulations to Ben, who thanks him, thinking it's about the baby. Noel clarifies that he was talking about the engagement, and Ben distractedly says thanks again. Felicity smiles and asks if the baby has a name. Ben says that the baby's name is Andrew. Felicity remembers that it's his father's name, and Ben agrees. Felicity looks kind of awed, as if it just now hit her that Ben has a son, a new member of his family.

Ben and Felicity lie in bed as the camera does a long, slow pan up their prone bodies. Felicity asks Ben if he wants to talk about it. Ben is silent. Felicity says, "You just seem a little...I mean, it must have been overwhelming." Ben says that it was, and that "this baby...Andrew...he's such a little guy. I mean, you should see his hands. His hands are like this big. Tiny. And they look like my hands." Ben stares at his hand and Felicity looks worried. She asks when Ben will see him again. Ben says that Lauren will call when she gets to Arizona. Felicity confirms that Lauren is still going to Arizona. Ben says yes, then pauses, and then admits that it was hard for him to leave his son, and he didn't think it would be. Felicity smiles sadly and then says that Ben wants to move to Arizona. Ben talks quickly, now that his thoughts have been voiced. He says he was thinking while he was on the train, and that Felicity could do anything there, but seeing that baby and knowing that he would be three thousand miles away...Ben trails off. Felicity says that she understands. Ben promises that it would still be the two of them starting out together. Felicity adds, falsely bright, "In Arizona."

Felicity sits on the floor in the bathroom, putting items into boxes. Noel walks in and says hello. He hands her a gift, and wishes her a happy graduation. She takes the gift with glee and opens it. It's a book called Architecture of New York. Felicity gives a somewhat bitter sigh, since she knows that she probably won't actually be working with the architecture in New York, and Noel mistakes this for a sign that she doesn't like the gift. Felicity assures him that's not the case, gives him a big hug, and thanks him. Felicity explains that her reaction had nothing to do with the book, and then reveals that Ben asked her to go to Arizona with him. Noel sits down. Felicity explains that Andrew will be in Arizona, and Ben wants to be with his son, of course. Noel adds, "But you don't want to go." Felicity says that when your parents give you their opinion, "somehow it just resonates longer and louder than everything else." So true. I can't buy anything without thinking of my mother telling me I'm wasting my money. But that's my issue. Noel tells Felicity not to do this to herself. Felicity tells Noel what her father said about four years of following Ben being enough. Noel is outraged that her father said that when Felicity said she was getting married. Felicity corrects him, saying that her father said that, and it made Felicity tell him they were getting married. Noel is a bit less outraged, but he tells Felicity, "If it's meant to be, it'll be." Felicity thinks that means it will never be. Noel disagrees. Then he tells her that he's going to be selfish for a minute, because they are friends and have a history together. Noel pleads, "Don't move to Arizona." Another shout-out to long-time fans; this echoes when Noel told Felicity, "Stay in New York or perish" in the pilot. Felicity laughs. Noel says that he's not being completely serious, but points out that all of her friends are there, and wonders how she can't be in New York year. Felicity agrees and sighs.

Noel talks to someone on the phone and asks, "When you say 'downsizing,' just how far down are you sizing?" Sean walks in and Noel gives him a "wait a minute" gesture. Noel ends the call with no job offer and tells Sean that he hasn't had any luck finding them a job. Noel starts to offer up more possibilities, but Sean interrupts to say that he got a job. Noel is all excited until Sean explains sheepishly that it's a job for him alone. Sean explains that he'll be working with Meghan's dad. Noel thought Sean would kill himself before working with Mr. Rotundi. Sean tries to enthusiastically explain his duties, which will include following around an elevator inspector. Noel's not buying it, and he just softly says, "Sean." Sean says that it's a great opportunity for Noel, because he heard about a job where they only have one opening. Noel says Sean is right, but he's sad because they were a team and banged fists. Sean insists that they are still a team, and they're just doing what it takes to stay alive. Once they get settled, they'll mount a comeback. Noel agrees, saying that it's okay as long as they know it's just temporary. Sean tells Noel to think positive, and they bang fists again, sadly. But they both seem to know that the team is over. Noel watches Sean walk out. I have to say that in addition to some good direction, Scott Foley is doing a great job acting in this episode.

Mr. Porter gets into the elevator. Richard runs in just as the doors are closing, holding flowers and a balloon that are clearly for Ben, the new dad. Oh, no. Richard recognizes Felicity's dad somehow and congratulates him, saying, "You must be psyched about Ben's new kid." Mr. Porter just looks at him in disbelief as Richard babbles on, trying to figure out how Mr. Porter would be related to Ben's son. Mr. Porter is still silent. Richard expresses that maybe Mr. Porter is glad that the baby will be in Arizona with its mom, and far away from Felicity. They reach the correct floor and Mr. Porter walks out. Richard lies that he forgot something downstairs and urges Mr. Porter to go in alone, and then says that their conversation never happened. Richard hands Mr. Porter the gift and ducks back into the elevator. Mr. Porter says, "Who are you?" Richard responds, "Exactly." As the elevator doors close, Ben walks out of the apartment and Richard ducks so that Ben won't see him. What in the hell is up with Richard's hair, by the way? Not a good look for him.

Ben sees Mr. Porter and calls out a greeting. Mr. Porter hands him Richard's gift. Ben tries to hide the balloon once he realizes what it's about, and Mr. Porter asks if he wants to tell him what's going on. Ben says, "No, not really, sir." Heh. Mr. Porter starts bitching about the engagement and that Ben had a child with another woman. Ben confirms that it's true. Mr. Porter is sure that Ben has an explanation for everything, but he's only concerned whether or not Felicity knows. How could she not know? If enough people know that they are bringing over gifts, word has clearly spread. Ben says that Felicity knows and has been very understanding. Mr. Porter doesn't think that Felicity knows what she's getting herself into. Ben raises his voice as he says that Mr. Porter is probably underestimating his daughter. Mr. Porter orders Ben not to make this into a "parents don't understand" thing. Wouldn't he need the Fresh Prince for that? Mr. Porter thinks that marriage at their age is ridiculous. Oh, cram it. They're engaged, not married. Maybe they'll be engaged for a few years. Maybe they'll get married tomorrow. Either way, unless they're asking him to pay for the wedding, it's none of his business. Ben points out that Mrs. Porter was their age when the Porters got married. Mr. Porter adds, "And she and I are divorced now." Yeah, because she married an ass-face. Mr. Porter says that Ben has a child in Arizona and lives in New York, and he wonders how that's going to work. Ben admits that they're thinking of moving to Arizona. Oh, no. Bad move. Mr. Porter says that he's talking to Ben as a father, and fathers are very protective of their children, and if someone tries to hurt their child, a father will want to hurt that person back. Ben says that he understands. Mr. Ass-face Porter says, "I hope so" and slimes away. I hate him.

Felicity is packing when her father walks in. She turns and sees his face and asks what's wrong. Mr. Porter says, "Arizona." Felicity considers and discards many options for rebuttal and explanation and finally goes with the time-honored tactic of pretending like you don't understand: "What?" Mr. Porter says that Felicity clearly doesn't care what he thinks (nor should she!) but "this latest choice -- this move is a colossal mistake." Ben appears behind Mr. Porter, looking really upset. Once Mr. Porter is gone, Felicity asks Ben what he said, and why he told her father that they were moving to Arizona. Ben apologizes, and says he didn't know what to say, and then apologizes again. Felicity frustratedly says that she can't just move, because she has friends, and a life, and a job in New York. Ben can't believe that Felicity just decided this. Felicity yells, "I have been following you for four years! I mean, it's your turn now!" Felicity needs to think on her own. Remember a few episodes back when she kept repeating Owen's story about Monet? She likes to repeat things that others have said to her instead of coming up with her own ideas. That said, she's kind of right. Ben says it's fine if she stays in New York. Felicity asks if he doesn't think that's fair. Ben yells that he doesn't, because what he's dealing with is a little more important. Felicity doesn't think she can go to Arizona. Ben thinks he has to. So it all comes down to this. I really wish that, at some point in this episode, they had explored the possibility of either a long-distance relationship or Felicity agreeing to go to Arizona for three or four years (however long it takes Ben to finish medical school) and then they can go somewhere else, somewhere Felicity wants. I mean, in a lot of relationships, you decide where to move based on which partner has the better opportunity, or you take turns. Sure, some would argue that Ben has already had his turn, since Felicity followed him to New York, but Ben never asked her to do that. And Felicity decided to stay there even when it looked like she would never be with Ben. That's something Mr. Ass-face Porter seems to have overlooked.

Felicity stands and stares at herself in the mirror while wearing her cap and gown. She adjusts her cap, and her father appears behind her, carrying a bouquet of flowers. She turns and quickly takes off her cap, embarrassed to have been caught primping, I guess. Mr. Ass-face Porter asks if he can come in, and Felicity says sure, but she thought they were going to meet at the ceremony. Mr. Porter apologizes for what happened the day before. Felicity thanks him and then says that she thought her robe would be black. Huh? That was a weird thing to say. Mr. Porter says that it seems like she just graduated high school. Felicity says that it seems like so long ago to her. Mr. Porter reminds her of how he used to bring her to his office when she was a kid. Felicity says that she would wear Angelika's white coat. Mr. Porter adds that she would follow him into every patient's room. Felicity concludes, "And you showed me how to listen to people's hearts." Poke, poke, Ass-face. Let Felicity listen to her heart. Mr. Porter says that he keeps trying to protect her, and Felicity says that he doesn't have to do that anymore. Mr. Porter says that he knows, and he's not so good at letting go. Felicity hugs him and tells him that she loves him. He says that he loves her too. Aw. Except not. I still hate Mr. Ass-face Porter.

Felicity walks into her graduation ceremony in slow-motion. She looks over at Meghan, who rolls her eyes and sits down. Felicity's parents scan the crowd, looking for their daughter. Felicity spots them and grins. Her mom waves and her dad smiles back. Felicity sits down, surrounded by other graduates. The dude to her looks about forty-five years old. Felicity looks back and spots Elena. In the crowd, Javier, Sean, and Noel check out the program. Felicity catches Ben's eye. He looks back at her. She looks at him, and then looks away.

Felicity takes the stage. Meghan cheers. Elena claps. Sean, Noel, and Javier clap also. Felicity looks out into the crowd. Her mom takes pictures while her father films her with a video camera. Felicity accepts her diploma, then switches her tassel to the other side and laughs gleefully. Ben sits in his seat, a small smile on his face. Man, the makeup they used to give Scott Speedman a scar on his forehead from Ben's car accident is really, really bad. And distracting. Graduation caps fly in the air. Nice job directing that sequence by Scott Foley.

Felicity hugs her mom, and then walks over to Ben and Richard. Ben and Richard both congratulate her and Felicity returns the favor. Felicity asks if she can talk to Ben for a minute. Richard doesn't take the hint, so Ben asks if he could give them a minute, and Richard leaves. Ben asks if Felicity wants to sit, and Felicity nods. They sit down. Felicity says that this is really hard. She begins, "All day, all I've been thinking is, 'Go with Ben. Follow Ben.' That's all I want to do is follow you. Sometimes I think I'd follow you anywhere. [pause] But, I can't." Ben says that he knows, and apologizes for asking. Felicity tells him that he should go to Arizona. Ben agrees. He stares at Felicity's face. Felicity comments, "This is so sad!" Yes, it is. Felicity thinks that her dad was right, and that their relationship was "a college thing." Ben says that they don't know that, and repeats Noel's words: "If it's meant to be, it'll be." Felicity nods sadly in agreement.

Graduation party at Epstein Bar. Noel tells Sean that he got a job for both of them. Sean can't believe it. Noel says that it's a totally new firm with no clients, but they're hiring. Sean asks the name of the firm, and Noel says that it's "Blumberg, Crane & Associates." Noel explains that he rented them an office, which is overpriced, and they can't afford it. Sean can't believe that they're back. Noel tells Sean to stay positive, and they bump fists.

Felicity walks up to the bar, and the bartender blows her off. Noel walks up and asks how it feels to be a college graduate. Felicity says that she can't even get a drink. Noel agrees that it's "totally anticlimactic." Totally. I had to be out of my student housing within about three hours of my graduation, so about five minutes after the ceremony ended, J-Dawg and my dad were helping me load my stuff into their car while my mom and my friend E polished off the wine coolers we had left over in the fridge. Heh. Wine coolers. Anyway, Noel asks if Felicity has made a decision about Arizona, and Felicity says that she's not going. Noel asks if Ben's okay with that. Felicity stammers that she and Ben aren't going to be together. Noel says, "Oh." Felicity says that she's decided not to come back to New York year. Noel says that she has to. Felicity says that she doesn't know where she'll go instead, but she can't be there. Ben walks up, and Noel congratulates him. Ben thanks Noel and then tells Felicity that he's going to take off. Felicity nods and then tells Noel that she'll see him before she goes. Ben and Noel say their goodbyes, and Felicity leaves with Ben. Noel watches her leave.

In Ben's room, Ben hands Felicity a pile of her things. Felicity stuffs her things in a bag. Ben sighs and says that the packing went faster than he thought, and you'd think it would take him longer to pack. Felicity agrees. They stand there for a minute and just...stand there. Ben rushes over and hugs Felicity, who hugs him back. He steps back and touches her hair. They kiss tenderly. Felicity has tears in her eyes. Their kiss becomes more passionate, and they lie down on the bed. Nothing like going out with a bang.

The morning, Felicity wakes up alone in the bed. Ben walks into the room and crouches down to the bed to wake her up. He tells her that he has to go. Felicity repeats, "You gotta go." She asks if he wants help with his bags. Ben tells her to stay in bed. They stare at each other for a minute. Felicity starts crying. They try to talk, but can't find the words. Ben puts his head to her ear and whispers, "I love you." Aw, just like he did at the end of the second season. Felicity whispers that she loves him too. He kisses her, and stands up. Felicity cries as she watches him go. Ben pauses at the door, but there's nothing left to say, so he walks out. Felicity puts her head down and cries.

Felicity, Sean, and Meghan eat breakfast in companionable silence. Felicity looks around, still teary. She tells them that she hasn't even packed yet, and starts to take her cereal bowl over to the sink. Meghan stands up and says she has it, taking the bowl. Sean stands up and gives Felicity a big hug, joking that he won't miss her at all. Felicity laughs. Felicity looks at Meghan, who stands with her arms crossed. Meghan pouts, "I don't want you to go." Felicity starts crying anew, and asks Meghan to at least say goodbye to her. Meghan refuses. Felicity hugs her and promises to call the minute she lands. Meghan hugs Felicity tearily. Felicity gathers her things as Sean and Meghan watch her sadly. Felicity stops at the door and looks back. Meghan sniffles. Felicity walks out of the loft for the last time. Sean puts an arm around Meghan and pulls her close. Meghan says, "This sucks."

Felicity puts a notebook in a box. On the front of the notebook is a sticker that says, "Felicity Porter for President." Felicity stares at a framed picture, but we can't see the image. Elena and Javier walk into her room. Elena announces that they are finished. Javier hands Felicity a plaque that names Felicity the Dean & Deluca Employee of the Month. Javier explains, "Every month. I'm never taking it down. Never. So you better visit it all the time." Elena asks if Felicity needs any help with her stuff. Felicity says that she's basically done, and then that she can't believe this is it. We get the first full-body shot of Tangi Miller, and whoa! She has got to be pregnant. Javier comments, "This is like a torture machine of the heart." They all sigh. Javier suggests a group hug, and they hug, as a group. Javier says that if she doesn't come and visit the plaque, he'll take it down. Then he says he really won't. Felicity says goodbye to Elena and hugs her, then does the same with a sniffling Javier. They walk out, and Felicity heaves a sigh. She looks around the empty apartment, which is freaking huge. She walks over to her bag and gets out a marker. Then, she walks into the closet and writes, "Felicity Porter '02" on the wall. Aw. Just like she did in her dorm room at the end of the first season, which I can't link to, because I haven't recapped that episode yet. But I will!

Felicity hears someone come in, and Noel calls out to her. Noel thought he missed her, and Felicity says that she wouldn't have left without saying goodbye. Felicity says that she's not ready to do this yet. Noel offers to take her to the airport. Felicity smiles and nods.

And now we're back at the opening scene, where Noel asks if Felicity is okay, and Felicity says that she is. Noel and Felicity sit in the airport and wait for her flight. Felicity asks Noel, "Do you ever wonder what would have happened if you and I...?" Noel smiles and replies, "Never," when clearly he means, "All the time." Felicity smiles back. Felicity's flight is called and she says the thing you say when your flight is called: "That's me!" They stand, and Felicity starts crying but trying not to. She says that Noel has her numbers, and Noel agrees that they will talk all the time. Felicity starts crying more and says she doesn't know if she can do this. Noel tells her that she can. Felicity makes him promise that they really will talk all the time, and they hug. Noel says, "Bye, Felicity." Felicity responds, "Bye, Noel." She walks off to catch her flight. Noel watches her go, with tears in his eyes.

Felicity sits on the plane and looks out the window. The flight attendant asks if she needs anything, and Felicity says that she doesn't. Felicity voice-overs the words we heard at the top of the episode, except this time we find out that it's a letter to Ben. She reads, "Dear Ben. This wasn't the way it was supposed to end. But you know that. At least, I know you used to."

The scene changes to Felicity sitting on a bench on a college campus. FVO continues, "It doesn't seem that long ago that I thought we'd be spending the rest of our lives together. Six months later, and you're in Arizona and I'm here, in Palo Alto, and somehow it's okay. It's actually good." Felicity walks down the sidewalk, talking to Meghan on her cell phone. FVO says, "Just so you know, everyone's doing great. Sean and Noel have, like, a real business. They're happy. And Meghan, despite her issues, still wants to be a psychiatrist. She'll probably be amazing at it. I'll probably become her first client."

Sean and Noel walk into the loft while Meghan is still on the phone with Felicity, and start yelling out greetings. What happened with Zoe? I'm just going to have to let that go too. On the other end, Felicity sits on the lawn and dies laughing.

Felicity sits in a darkened lecture hall, taking notes. FVO says, "It's ironic how sometimes the thing you're fighting is yourself. After everything, despite everything, I realized I wanted to become a doctor. Of course, my parents couldn't be happier. But now I know I'm not doing it for them. I'm doing it for me, so maybe I can make a difference." Felicity walks out of a building on campus and waves goodbye to some friends. FVO concludes, "So who knows, Ben? Maybe we'll both be doctors. Anyway, I know you're busy but, um, give me a call or write me a letter or send me a tape. I'd love to hear your voice. Love always, Felicity." Felicity walks down some steps and looks at the notices attached to a bulletin board. While she stares, we see a man walk up behind her. She feels someone looking at her, and turns around to see Ben. She asks what he's doing there. He says that he was just at the registrar's office, signing up for classes. Felicity looks confused and like she wants to believe it, but can't. Ben says that he talked to Lauren, and that she's moving back to California. Ben concludes, "You were right. It was my turn." Felicity finally smiles, and Ben does too. They hug for a long time, and then walk off together, holding hands.

week: The announcer says that it's a television first. Felicity toasts Noel and Zoe. Meghan asks Felicity what she would do differently if she could, and Felicity says that she would pick Noel. The announcer says that for the final four episodes, the series will go back in time. Felicity tells Ben that he broke her heart. Felicity tells Noel that she wants them to be together. FVO says that she got the chance to do it over, and this time she was going to do it right. Interesting. We'll see.
