Deb and Quinn question Jordan about his connection with the missing Cole, Boyd and now Alex Tilden. Meanwhile, Lumen and Dexter plot to get Jordan, and it's all very lovey-dovey. Lumen asks Dexter if Deb has ever suspected anything about him. He says she has a blind spot when it comes to him. Then, his baby monitor picks up the signal of the camera that Liddy has planted in the apartment. Liddy tells Quinn that he wants help getting his job back. Quinn refuses.
Dexter finds the camera, which has a "property of the police" sticker on it. He tells Lumen that they have to lie low, but she is anxious to continue their vigilante crusade. Masuka finds evidence that Cole was killed in his home, which gives further weight to Deb's vigilante theory. LaGuerta points out that a woman would have a hard time overpowering these big guys and Deb says she may have help, from a man. Dexter is there for this talk and looks to be shitting himself. Dex finds out that Quinn checked out the surveillance equipment in his apartment. He also finds out that it's not police business, that Quinn is doing this on his own. Lumen and Dexter search Quinn's apartment and find that he's a fan of cute cat YouTubes. They also find Liddy's photos of them dumping Cole's body into the marina.
HOLY SHIT, Mary Cherry is Dan the Dentist's wife. Deb talks to her and finds out that he would leave for trips with "the guys." The only name she recognizes amongst the teen friend killers is Jordan's. She knows that his real name is Eugene Greer and tells Deb and Quinn. So, they know Jordan was lying about knowing them. Deb tells Dexter that Quinn thought he had something to do with Rita's death.
Dexter tries to get Lumen to leave, but she refuses. Liddy totally tazes Dexter and kidnaps him. Meanwhile, Lumen gets a call from Emily Birch. She says that she was called by Jordan Chase. She wants to go to the police, but Lumen convinces her to wait for her and Dexter. Since she can't get ahold of the kidnapped Dex, she goes by herself. Emily, of course, is calling at Jordan's behest. Liddy tells Quinn to meet him. Lumen gets to Emily's place and Jordan's there. Scary. Liddy tries to force a confession out of Dex, but there's a struggle and Dex kills him, JUST as Quinn is walking to the van. Quinn doesn't uncover the scene, but Liddy's blood drips out of the van onto Quinn's boot.
Then, Dex gets Lumen's message that she's going to Emily's. He tosses Liddy's computer into the water then books it. I can't see why Lumen doesn't just take out Jordan by herself. I feel like she could. Then, she tries to escape and he throws her to the ground. Emily gets upset, so he kills her. Dexter arrives to find blood everywhere. But, it's just Emily's. Lumen and Jordan are nowhere to be found. Deb gets a court order to keep Jordan from leaving on his private jet, but Jordan doesn't show up at the airport. Dexter follows a trail outside of the house. He also finds Lumen's knife. Without saying much, even in VO, you can tell that Dexter is getting pissed. Somebody's getting cut.
Previously: Dexter and Lumen met Emily Birch, who revealed that Jordan Chase had been Eugene Greer. She had been attacked by the guys 20 years earlier. She apparently also loves summers in Stockholm, as she is still under the spell of Jorgene. Quinn told Liddy to stay away from Deb, but she still found out that Quinn had been investigating Dexter. Liddy planted surveillance equipment in Dexter's apartment. Jorgene put in a call to Deb and Quinn leading them to Alex Tilden's house, just as Dexter and Lumen were killing him. They didn't find a body, but they found a footprint, giving further weight to Deb's amazingly spot-on theory of the vigilante killer. Dexter and Lumen made love.
Deb and Quinn visit Jorgene's office. Things are tensely cordial, which I don't imagine will last very long. Deb thanks him for his call about Alex Tilden. She says that they followed up right away, but Alex wasn't there. In fact, it looks like he has disappeared from the face of the earth. Like, Cole. And Boyd, Quinn adds. Oh, you see, I knew something was up here. Deb says that she's been bumping her noggin trying to think of what the connection could be amongst the three missing guys and... she's got it! It's Jordan. He's the connection. She asks that he save her a lot of time and just tell her what that connection is. Jordan covers his face with his hands like he... is... so tired of all of this. So much acting on top of acting in that room. I feel like Quinn should start juggling or something. Jordan says with an incredulous smile that it is ridiculous that she would think that he has anything to do with this. He reminds her that he submitted to a DNA test and he was cleared physically from the Barrel Girls case, so this is a waste of his time. Deb says that she's got tons of time, so she'll just wait for him to give them some information. Then, the scene becomes a Caryl Churchill play and they're talking over each other. He says that she's obsessed with him, which really isn't so odd because he's successful and that sort of thing happens, but it's not healthy for her to be fixated on him instead of her own bleak existence and he can help her. She says that she thinks he slipped up and one of the Barrel Girls got away and is killing the people near him. He could be . It truly is remarkable how exactly right her theory is. He says that he'll be fine, but he's worried about her. She smiles and leaves with Quinn. His cocky smirk wanes just a little bit as they leave.
Lumen and Dexter are plotting their break-in to Jordan's empire with Harrison's stuffed animals, which is not to say that they intend to attempt the break-in with stuffed animals. They're having a hard time thinking of ways to bypass all of the security. Lumen says that they need to draw him out of his lair, but Dexter says that he has everything he could need in his fortress. Lumen points out that he doesn't have her, but Dexter says it's too dangerous to use her as bait. She says that it worked with Cole, but that's really not a very good example. Were it not for Dexter's impeccable timing, she'd have been a goner. She says that she can do this and he says that he knows she can, because he saw her kill Alex Tilden. Maybe it's different for serial killers, but I don't think I could say out loud, "I saw you kill blankety-blank." It would definitely be one of those Vegas things for me. Like, yeah, I know we did that thing where we killed, dismembered and disposed of that dude, but we don't have to talk about it.
Anyway, Dexter says that they have more to worry about than Jordan's security. There's also the police and, more importantly, Deb. Lumen apologizes to Dexter for putting him in a position where he has to lie to her, but Dexter says that, though it's not his favorite thing, it's not the first time he's lied to her. Lumen asks (for the audience?) if Deb has never suspected anything in regards to Dex's proclivities and he says that he thinks maybe she has a blind spot when it comes to him. She's not like him and Lumen.
So, Lumen finds it tender that Dexter just referred to them as "us" and comes in for an embrace. Suddenly, Dexter sees a live bird's eye video image of where he is right now -- on Harrison's baby monitor. Sometimes, when I'm maybe on a date that isn't going well or when I'm running and don't want to -- I see the same thing. He's freaked out because a surveillance camera's signal got mixed with the monitor and he knows someone is watching them. He pulls Lumen to her feet, hugs her and whispers what is happening. Dexter runs outside and starts looking for a van that could be hosting the surveillance. He VOs that Jordan must be behind this, but there are vans EVERYWHERE.
Back at the station, Deb tells Quinn that she knows Jordan is up to his Balzac in this case -- she knows it. Who'd have figured Deb to be a fan of Cousin Bette? Astute though. Quinn sees Liddy and sends Deb into the station without him. Liddy tells Quinn that his union appeal was rejected. He's officially off of the force. Quinn tells him that he's sorry, but he says that he doesn't want his pity. Well, maybe Quinn doesn't want the newsreel of your day, Robo. Ever think of that? Conversations are an exchange. Liddy says that he needs Quinn's help with a bust that will make people give him his job back. It's Dexter. Quinn says no, but RoboCop suggests that he doesn't really have an option. He says that he will be calling him, at which point he expects Quinn to come running. I have to say, Peter Weller has put the full-court menace on this season and has really done an excellent job.
That night, Dexter and Lumen are having stilted conversation about dinner in front of the cameras in his apartment. Dexter casually locates the camera (under Harrison's cute little lamp) and finds that it is "Property of Miami Metro Police." At that point, he suggests that they go out to eat. Outside, he tells her that it's worse than Jordan watching them. She can't understand why someone from the station would want to watch him and he has no answers for her. He'll check the serial number on the camera and find out the day who checked it out. He says that it could have something to do with Deb's vigilante theory. He knows though that no one has seen the recordings, because they haven't been arrested. Lumen is worried about Jordan getting away with his crimes, if they're arrested. Dexter assures her that things won't end this way.
The day, Dexter and Lumen are looking for the van that might be watching them. Sonja calls to say that Harrison is fine. She reminds him that the baby's birthday party is on Sunday. He'd forgotten, it appears. Lumen kind of invites herself and Dex tells Sonja that they will be coming to Orlando for the party. Cute.
At the station, Deb tells Dex that they are all waiting for him and he gets understandably nervous. They're having a Barrel Girls meeting. Deb insists that Jordan Chase is involved. Masuka says that the female footprint outside of Tilden's house matches one that was outside of an adjacent vacant home. Inside the home, the dining room had been recently cleaned, unlike the rest of the house. Ah, that's where they were. Dexter VOs that the bleach smell would have dissipated in one more day. Masuka thinks that the vigilante brought Alex to the vacant home (just like what actually happened). This is the first that LaGuerta has heard of a vigilante. Deb explains the whole 13 DVDs/12 victims connection. But, LaGuerta points out that the victims were all small women and some of the missing guys are, you know, dudely. Well, maybe she has a guy helping her. And, scene. Theory complete. Print it. Dexter is uncomfortable. LaGuerta calls it "Vigilantes in love." Masuka compares it to Bonnie and Clyde which doesn't sound promising to Dexter, seeing as B and C end up dead in a shot-up car.
Later, when the equipment desk lady is having her coffee and smoke, Dexter commandeers her computer to find that Quinn
"checked out" the surveillance equipment. He looks up the corresponding case and it's from 1982, when Quinn was in grade school and eating paste. Heh. So, he knows it's a fake case and "Quinn" is monitoring him on his own.Dexter meets Lumen and they break into Quinn's apartment. Lumen immediately starts looking up stuff on his computer. His screensaver is a hot rod. What, you were expecting, a zen garden? She makes a crack about his computer being ancient. Dexter tells her that Quinn is Deb's partner and they used to be close. Dex is looking around the apartment and doesn't find anything. He asks Lumen if she's had any luck, but she hasn't. She has, however, found a video of a cat that hiccups and farts at the same time. We see it and it's kind of amazing. "Cute," says Dexter. You know, Miss Stiles may have picked up herself a little Emmy consideration with that line right there. In his bedroom, Dexter finds a file with the pics of Lumen and Dex at the marina. He says that they have to find the digital source of the photos.
Deb and Quinn enter Dan the dentist's office as his diplomas and whatnot are being packed away. The lady packing says that their office is no longer open. Everyone, that is TWoP LEGEND Mary Cherry. Bow, bitches. Yay! Seriously, YAY! I love Leslie Grossman so much. She doesn't want to talk. She tells them that she doesn't know anything, though she should have suspected something was up with his week-long fishing trips, trips that he would call "man time." That term has a completely different meaning to her now and no one can sell that line like the Cherry. She says that Dan kept her in the dark about his whole secret gay life. Heh. Deb informs her that Dan may not have been gay -- it appears that the scene of his death may have been tampered with. BUT, he may have been involved in a series of rapes. And, Quinn adds, murders. No fun. They ask her if she recognizes any of the names of the missing dudes. Then, they ask about Jordan and she points to a trophy that Dan and Eugene won. She explains that Eugene is Jordan.
Later, Quinn asks Deb how Mary Cherry could never have known that her husband was a serial rapist/murderer and Deb says pointedly that he was probably a very good liar. Sometimes men are good at lying and it's Dan's fault, not Mary Cherry's. In the station, Batista says that Jordan lied about knowing Tilden. They should bring him in for questioning. Dexter asks Deb if she wants to come to Orlando for Harrison's birthday but she has work and can't. She spills the beans that Quinn thought Dexter might be connected to Rita's death. She laments not having someone in her life that she can trust, like the vigilante has with her killing partner. Jesus, come on. Is it that easy? It's like she knows everything that is happening. She says that the killers have "serious shit" but are kind of beautiful.
That night, at a street fair, Dexter buys a pocketknife for Lumen. It's like a ring or something in this setting. "With this knife, I pledge to cut some dudes with you." He tells her that she should leave for good, until he deals with the whole Quinn problem. She tells him that she's not going anywhere, because they are a team. He explains that Deb says they have serious shit, which of course makes Lumen like "What?" and Dex explains that she was talking about them without knowing that she was talking about them. Lumen suggests that they maybe run away together, perhaps hop a freighter. They're just being romantical, but she asks and he confirms that he wants her to stay.
Deb, Batista and Quinn are burning the midnight oil talking about the Barrel Girls case. She describes Jordan's transformation from fat trash Eugene to his current self. Batista presents Jordan's old schedules -- his fishing trips corresponded with the deaths of the girls. Batista gets a call that he has to take. He leaves the room and Quinn stares at Deb. He apologizes to her and tells her that he loves her. He says that she always says what's on her mind and he loves her filthy mouth. He doesn't want to lose her. Batista comes back and says that Jordan has denied a request for an interview and has booked a lecture tour in Europe. It looks like he's on the run. Deb says that they need to ground him as a material witness, but she won't go to LaGuerta for the court order, because she says that the LG is always shooting her down. She's going to get it herself.
Dexter is still looking for vans. He thinks he sees Quinn and approaches a van that he stepped into. He VOs that he never wanted it to come to this. What's he going to do? Would he kill Quinn? Who knows? Because, as he looks inside the van, RoboCop jumps him and tazes him, then throws him in the van. He drives away with Dexter inside.
Meanwhile, Lumen is looking at her pretty knife and using it to open coffee. She gets a call from Emily Birch, who says that Jordan called her. He knows she talked to her. She says that she's scared and is going to the police. Lumen tells her to wait -- she and Dexter will come to her. After she gets off the phone, Jordan, who is of course sitting in her house, tells Emily that she did very well. He says that she's quite the actress, which sounds a little bit menacing. Lumen is trying to reach Dexter and, clearly, he's unavailable.
Dexter wakes tied up in the back of the van. Been there. Liddy says that Dex should relax. At the station, Quinn gets a call from Liddy. He demands that Quinn get there and make his bust. Sonja texts and asks if Dexter wants to have a magician at his b-day party. Of course, reply texts Liddy. Then, he shows Dex the video of Lumen stabbing into the air. He wants Dexter to give him a full confession.
Lumen arrives at Emily's, Emily frantically insists that Dexter be there too. Lumen eventually catches on that something is really very off and says something to the effect of, "You know? Great idea. I'm just gonna go get Dexter rigggght now. La-di-dooo." And, of course, Jordan stops her. He looks really good when shot from below.
Back in the van, Liddy says that the exchange for Dexter's confession is that he'll let Lumen go free. He doesn't even really care about what Dexter may or may not have done. He just wants back on the police force. It's a good thing not everyone is this passionate about staying employed. I only kidnap pastries for work. So, I guess Liddy thinks that's all he has to do. He turns on a camera and asks Dexter for his confession. He gets a sole confession. Heh. Meaning, Dexter kicks the camera into his face. He manages to get his bound hands in front of his body and they struggle as Liddy pulls out a knife. It's all very Saving Private Ryan as the knife gets slowly plunged into Liddy's chest. Goodbye, Liddy. And, hello, Quinn! He arrives just as this is going down and knocks on the van, which can't be doing much for Dexter's nerves. He finally leaves, but not before some of Liddy's blood leaks out of the van and onto Quinn's shoe. Dex leaves with the surveillance tapes and Liddy's computer (which he throws into the water right outside of the van).
At the station, LG tells Deb that her court order was denied. She asks her why she didn't ask her for help, but Deb says that she would never go to LG for help. LG says that she has always trusted Deb's instincts as a cop. Deb's not playing. She says that she, at one point, thought that she and LaGuerta were friends. She calls her "Debra" and apologizes if she betrayed that friendship. OK, I think they write LG hot and cold all of the time on this show, but she's being genuinely contrite right now. Deb is all "fine" and trying to leave when LG shows her another court order, the court order that she got from another judge who owed her a favor. Deb says, "Fuck me. I guess I'm the asshole now." I love her.
Dexter gets to his apartment and finds Lumen missing. Meanwhile, Jordan is questioning her about his whereabouts. She says that she could call him, but he won't let her tip him off about her situation. Emily says that she could try cal

ling him, but he tells her to be quiet. She asks if he's mad at her and he screams at her. Angela Bettis was so GOOD just then. They've really unloaded the actress truck this year, haven't they? Lumen tries to run out and he grabs her and throws her down. He grabs a fire poker and says he finds this extremely distasteful. Eugene never had to do any of the dirty work before. Where do Floridians, even those with successful careers as motivational speakers and rape/murder watchers, get off saying things are "distasteful?" A little poncy, if you ask me. Emily stops him and says that he promised her he wouldn't kill Lumen, so... he kills Emily with the poker. I think you hear skull cracking. Nice job, Miller. Lumen starts to crawl away, because that's always the successful mode of escape.Dexter gets to Emily's house and finds blood everywhere. He wonders if this is the only kind of love he'll ever find. Instead, he finds Emily. I don't know if she was dragged into the other room or did it herself. Meanwhile, Deb meets a pilot of a private plane. He says that Jordan never showed up for his flight. Dexter sees evidence of a struggle with Jordan. He sees Lumen's bloody knife on the ground and whispers her name. He VOs that she's putting up a fight and you see a resolve wash over Dexter. He's gonna get his girl.
